Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519), a celebrated Italian master, was far more than an exceptional painter. He was also a brilliant engineer, scientist and inventor, gaining remarkable achievements across diverse fields.
At fourteen, he began systematic art learning in Florence and received seven years of professional training. Afterwards, he worked independently for nobles across Italy and the French king. Though he started his career as a painter, he spent most time serving as an engineer. He painted extremely slowly and often left works unfinished; besides, frequent wars made city defence builders more in demand than artists. Still, he stole spare time to complete plenty of timeless masterpieces.
After his death, numerous handwritten notebooks were uncovered. Full of delicate drawings of creatures, plants and ahead-of-time inventions like aircraft and tanks, these works also contained precise anatomical (解剖学的) studies of human bodies. What surprised people most was that most of the notes were written in reverse handwriting, readable only with a mirror. For centuries, the notebooks remained unpublished, his scientific thoughts hidden from the world.
Da Vinci never drew a clear line between art and science. He insisted that solid theory was the foundation of painting, and that his painting skills helped him record scientific findings clearly. Curious about everything around him, he combined art, invention and science so perfectly that they seemed to become one.
Few can match his extraordinary gift, yet his determined exploratory spirit inspires generations to keep creating, thinking and improving the world constantly. Da Vinci was not a painter who happened to love science, but a genius who regarded art and science as two sides of the same coin.
24. Why did da Vinci mainly work as an engineer?
A. Noble employers disliked his painting style.
B. He believed engineering brought greater rewards.
C. He was lazy and failed to finish most of his artworks.
D. His paintings progressed slowly and wars needed more engineers
25. What does the underlined word “reverse” in Paragraph 3 mean?
A. Written backwards. B. Hard to read properly.
C. Beautifully shaped in form. D. Easy to make out and follow.
26. What was da Vinci’s opinion on art creation?
A. Art comes merely from science.
B. Painting needs a sharp eye.
C. Art needs scientific theory support.
D. Science and art have much in common.
27. Which best describes Leonardo da Vinci?
A. Modest and productive. B. Talented and all-round.
C. Cautious and far-sighted. D. Ambitious and idealistic.

For the rapidly decreasing number of Americans who’ve never heard of pickleball, the little-known paddleball game is one of America’s fastest-growing sports.
Invented in 1965 by three middle-aged fathers in Washington state, pickleball is an odd cross among tennis, ping-pong and badminton, played with a paddle and a perforated (穿孔的) plastic ball. The founders are said to have named the game after a family dog called Pickles.
Most of pickleball’s core players — those who play more than eight times per year — are over age 65, but the game is getting younger, with the strongest growth among players under 55, according to USA Pickleball. But with so many new players, the US is struggling to keep up with the demand for courts. The country has only about 10,000 places to play, by USA Pickleball’s count, but that continues to grow by several dozen every month.
Pickleball is also fast becoming a spectator sport (观赏性运动). Its first professional tournament, the Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) Tour, was formed in 2018 and the professional players are being able to really become celebrities and spotlights. Traditional broadcasters’ interest in the sport is growing. So far, pickleball fans can watch amateur and professional matches on sports or social channels, mostly online.
“The ability for a sport to find an audience quickly via social media is unprecedented (前所未有的),” says Ben Shields, who lectures at MIT’s Sloan School of Management and studies the sports industry. Shields adds that pickleball still needs a famous star to draw in wider audiences, as has been the key to success for other sports leagues — that also started with grassroots and unusual names. “I think if pickleball, in its own humble way, can continue to grow its participation and find ways to make the sport an appealing fan product, who knows, 10, or 20 years, it could be a big competitor in the global sports industry ”
28. What do we know about the pickleball game from the text?
A. It was named after a dog.
B. It was popular among young kids.
C. It’s a cross between tennis and volleyball.
D. It was invented by three ordinary women.
29. What does the underlined word “that” in paragraph 3 refer to?
A. The playing time. B. The form of matches.
C. The number of courts. D. The participation rate.
30. Which best describes “a famous star” to pickleball according to Ben Shields?
A. Humble. B. Inflexible. C. Harmful D. Influential.
31. Which of the following can be the best title for the text?
A. The History of Pickleball B. The Growing Popularity of Pickleball
C. The Rise and Fall of Pickleball D. The Rules of Playing Pickleball
D
Today’s teachers face a tough situation with generative AI. New tools are appearing rapidly, from personalized tutors for students to lesson planners and graders for teachers. Schools are traditionally slow to adapt to change, which makes such rapid-fire developments especially destabilizing.
This AI wave hits when teachers are already struggling. They lack time and resources while facing high expectations for both academic results and students’ emotional growth. Many are exhausted and leaving the profession. This matters because teacher quality is the top factor in student success, especially for disadvantaged kids. How teachers use AI could decide whether it narrows or widens existing fairness gaps in education.
Research on public school teachers shows mixed feelings about AI. Interviews with 22 teachers in a diverse U. S. school district reveal both hope and worry. Many appreciate AI as a “thought partner.” Creating lesson plans with AI saves time and reduces stress. One teacher noted it improved work-life balance and provided support when feeling isolated.
However, not all teachers feel ready. A major problem is the lack of training and planning time. Learning a new tool takes effort, and many schools don’t offer enough professional support. Studies show that schools with fewer resources are less able to help teachers use new tech effectively. As a result, well-funded schools can better support their staff, which often makes educational inequalities worse.
Teachers also emphasized that AI cannot replace the human connection in education. A machine can provide information, but many students still need teachers’ guidance, encouragement, and communication to truly learn. A good teacher does more than share knowledge; he or she builds relationships with students.
All in all, teachers are crucial in determining how and whether AI, like all new technologies, is used to support their teaching and student learning. That’s why we believe the practices established during this current period of rapid AI development and adoption will profoundly influence whether this technology creates a fairer education system or makes existing differences even greater.
32. What does the underlined word “destabilizing” in Paragraph 1 probably mean?
A. Causing disorder and loss of balance.
B. Making teaching more challenging now.
C. Giving teachers extra work and pressure.
D. Speeding up the process of school change.
33. What matters most to students’ success according to the text?
A. Students’ effort. B. Teacher quality. C. School resources. D. Advanced AI tools.
34. What is the author’s main concern regarding the AI wave in education?
A. It will eventually replace human teachers.
B. It might weaken the teacher-student relationship.
C. It reduces students’ emotional growth.
D. It may widen existing educational inequalities.
35. What determines whether AI narrows the fairness gap?
A. The financial support schools can offer.
B. The speed of AI technology development.
C. How teachers integrate AI into their work.
D. The academic pressure students are facing.

When our family finally returned home after a two-week vacation, we immediately noticed something unusual. Leaves and broken branches covered the yard, and several flower pots had been knocked over. It was clear that a powerful hurricane had swept through the neighborhood while we were away.
Then my younger sister, Lily, suddenly remembered the rabbits.
Before leaving, we had carefully prepared everything for them. Their food box was filled with enough rabbit food, fresh hay was placed in their small wooden house, and clean water was ready in a large container. Dad had checked the roof and fence carefully, believing they would stay safe. We had also asked our neighbor Mrs. Green to look after them if necessary.
Lily and I hurried to the corner of the garden where we had built a small wooden house for them before the vacation. We had spent several weekends working on it together. We painted it white and made it comfortable, believing it would be the perfect home for Bobby and Fluffy.
However, when we reached the garden, we froze in disbelief. The lovely little house had completely collapsed. What remained was only a pile of broken boards and scattered pieces of wood.
“Where are Bobby and Fluffy?” Lily whispered anxiously, eyes filled with tears.
We searched everywhere, calling their names again and again. We looked behind bushes, under trees, and even inside the damaged bushes, but there was no sign of them.
Just as we were about to lose hope, Mrs. Green walked over with a smile.
“I’ve been waiting for you to come back,” she said.
Seeing our worried faces, she explained, “The hurricane was much stronger than expected. When I noticed the rabbit house beginning to fall apart, I knew I had to act immediately.”
She paused for a moment before continuing, “I hope you don’t mind, but I took Bobby and Fluffy to my garage before the wind became too dangerous.”
Hearing that, Lily and I both let out a long sigh of relief. Mrs. Green smiled, turned around, and said, “Come with me.”

1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

Of all the people I encounter in my school, our security guard Uncle Wang, stands out with his unwavering smile that has brightened countless mornings for students like me.
One afternoon, I ran into him near the dormitory, while I was struggling with a heavy suitcase at the school gate. Although he was off duty, he approached me with his familiar smile without hesitation and carried it all the way to my dormitory. He performed it with such genuine joy and thoughtfulness, which lifted my entire day.
True greatness lives in warm-hearted dedication to others — even in the most ordinary jobs.

【答案】One possible version:
Following Mrs. Green, we hurried toward her garage. As soon as the door opened, we saw Bobby and Fluffy sitting peacefully in a warm corner, enjoying fresh food. They looked healthy and safe. My sister rushed over and gently picked one up with a big smile on her face. We thanked Mrs. Green again and again for helping us. She simply smiled and said that anyone would have done the same. Looking at the rabbits, we felt not only relieved but also deeply touched by her kindness.
The next morning, we started building a new house for the rabbits. Instead of simply repairing the old house, we decided to build a stronger one. Soon our neighbors joined us. Some brought wood, while others offered tools and useful advice. Even the children helped paint the walls. A few days later, a beautiful new rabbit house stood in the garden. It was stronger, safer and more comfortable than before. Looking at the rabbits playing happily inside, I realized that kindness and teamwork can help people overcome any storm and create something even better.
