W: No. Summer is around the corner. To slim down, I decide to skip dinners. M: It’s unnecessary. No one once laughed at your figure. This so-called “quick-fix” method is likely to backfire. W: Many girls adopt this method, which proves effective. Benefits of losing weight are evident. It will give me more confidence. M: You just notice one side. I read a news report this morning, which is about a lady fainting after skipping meals. Think twice before doing that. W: Alright. I’ll listen to your advice and just skip dinners on Fridays and Sundays. Frankly speaking, I’m anxious about my appearance. M: I see. Every time you get up in the morning, you look into the mirror carefully. But don’t judge a book by its cover. W: Well, let’s dine out tonight. I’ll consult a dietician tomorrow. A.Reducing work stress. B.Falling asleep faster. C.Getting longer sleep. 【答案】17.B 18.A 19.C 20.B 【原文】 W: Good morning, everyone. It’s time for our weekly health class. How many of you feel tired all the time? Raise your hands, please. Wow, there are a lot of hands. Doctors recommend that teens get at least eight to 10 hours of sleep each night. However, in practice, many teens struggle to make it. This is often due to a conflict between nature and modern life. During our teenage years, our body clocks tend to move forward. This natural change makes us want to go to sleep and wake up much later. However, as society usually demands we get up early, the key is finding a way to fall asleep earlier. Later on in the lesson, we’ll be talking about how stress and screen addiction can also impact our sleep. But first we’re going to study the ten, three, two, one sleep rule. This means that 10 hours before bed, you stop drinking tea, coffee and other energy drinks. Your last meal of the day should be at least three hours before bed. Homework and other work should be completed at least two hours before bed. One hour before bed, you shut off all screens. These tips will help ready your body for sleep and help you drop off to sleep much more quickly. 二、阅读理解 (本题7.5分)Healthy Diet is a new magazine for people who want to enjoy their best health and understand how to make healthy choices every day. After completing my run in just over four hours, I jumped into my car, heading to the health club for my regular workout. I made it almost through my kickboxing class before passing out. A friend carried me downstairs, and I lay down on the long sofa. I stayed like that until I could sit up without the room spinning (旋转). Even then, I tried to head to the weight room, but my friend insisted that I go home, packing me into my car with a serious look. Back home, I showered, changed into workout clothes, and headed back to the car — only to find my keys missing. My husband was holding them. “You have a problem,” he said. As he walked away, I cried. If I had the keys, I’d still have gone back to the health club. I was just 30 years old, yet I had the bone density (密度) of a 60-year-old. Due to over-exercising and under-eating, I had more stress fractures (骨折) in my legs and feet. My hair was falling out. I was underweight. I couldn’t sleep. I was feeling cold all the time. My blood pressure was very low. In short, my body was no longer able to properly keep the most basic functions. Then, I started treatment. The first rule of my treatment program was zero exercise. I wasn’t even allowed to walk around the block. I went from exercising for hours every day to nothing. It was the most difficult time I had ever experienced. Today I walk a fine line: I still exercise every day, but I limit it to no more than 2 hours. I have regular checkups at the doctor, and keep good physical and mental health. Now my goal is to educate others. 24.(2.5分)Why did the writer try to return to the health club from home? A.To escape the conversation with her husband. B.Because she had an exercise addiction. C.Because she hadn’t finished her planned weight training. D.Out of a strong passion for keeping physical fitness. 25.(2.5分)What is the main purpose of paragraph 4? A.To describe the process of aging. B.To list the disadvantages of workout. C.To compare different types of exercise injuries. D.To show the heavy price of overtraining. 26.(2.5分)What did the author think of the treatment course? A.It was an inspiring journey of self-discovery. B.It was an effortless and straightforward process. C.It offered a peaceful escape from her daily pressures. D.It presented her with the greatest challenge of her life. 27.(2.5分)What lesson can we learn from the text? A.Prevention is better than cure. B.A little learning is a dangerous thing. C.You can have too much of a good thing. D.All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. 根据第一段“I had been up since 4 a. m. running 27 miles in the dark for an upcoming marathon. After completing my run in just over four hours, I jumped into my car, heading to the health club for my regular workout. (我从凌晨4点就起床了,在黑暗中跑了27英里,准备参加即将到来的马拉松比赛。在短短四个多小时内完成跑步后,我跳上车,前往健身俱乐部进行常规锻炼)”和第二段“A friend carried me downstairs, and I lay down on the long sofa. I stayed like that until I could sit up without the room spinning (旋转). Even then, I tried to head to the weight room, but my friend insisted that I go home, packing me into my car with a serious look.(一位朋友把我抱下楼,我躺在长沙发上。我一直那样待着,直到我可以7坐起来不再天旋地转。即便如此,我还是试图去举重室,但我的朋友坚持要我回家,一脸严肃地把我塞进车里)”可知,作者过度锻炼,由此可推知,作者试图从家里返回健身俱乐部是因为她有运动瘾。故选B项。 25.推理判断题。根据第四段“I was just 30 years old, yet I had the bone density (密度) of a 60-year-old. Due to over-exercising and under-eating, I had more stress fractures (骨折) in my legs and feet. My hair was falling out. I was underweight. I couldn’t sleep. I was feeling cold all the time. That may be why many kids struggle to stay focused in school, often losing track of lessons. High-intensity (高强度) break exercises can help students focus better. Just a few minutes of activity improves brain function and learning, new research shows, offering a simple solution for classroom problems. Eric Drollette wondered how little exercise was needed to improve focus. He’s an exercise expert at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He led a team that designed a nine-minute, high-intensity break exercise program that could be done in a classroom without extra equipment. It uses short periods of heart-beating activity with short breaks in between. For example, high knees, star jumps, jumping jacks, hops and kicks. They described it in Psychology of Sport and Exercise, a leading academic journal. Twenty-five students aged 9 to 12 tried out the program. At Drollette’s lab, they wore a heart rate monitor (监测器) and an EEG hat that recorded brain activity in real time. Then they did the high-intensity break exercises, rode an exercise bike or watched a short video. After each activity, participants did some tests. One test showed five fish in a line on a screen, and kids had to note which direction the center fish faced. Other tests focused on math or language skills. During the fish test, the team noticed a change in what Drollette calls “the uh-oh mechanism” — when you realize you made a mistake. High-intensity exercise reduced that response, suggesting that exercise had made kids’ brains more efficient at processing information. Students also performed better on the language tests after the high-intensity workout. But they did a little worse at math. That could be from tiredness, which tends to affect higher-level thinking tasks, Drollette says. Being active can help with both mental and physical health, says Drollette. His recommendation: “Find opportunities to stand up and get moving, even for a few minutes, to keep your brain sharp and your body healthy.” 28.(2.5分)What is the nine-minute program designed for? A.Helping students get better at focusing. B.Training students’ physical strength. C.Making students more active in sports. D.Assisting students to relax after class. 29.(2.5分)What were the 25 students required to do in Drollette’s lab? A.They only did high-intensity exercise. B.They wore equipment to record brain activity. C.They did tests before doing any activity. D.They watched videos for a long time. 30.(2.5分)What effect did high-intensity break exercise have on students? A.It made students better at math. B.It reduced students’ tiredness. C.It improved students’ language tests. D.It made students’ brains slower. 31.(2.5分)Which of the following would be the best title for the passage? A.Short Breaks: A Cure for Students’ Tiredness B.High-Intensity Break Exercises: A Way to Improve Math C.Short Breaks: A Solution to Building Health D.High-Intensity Break Exercises: An Aid for Students’ Focus 【答案】28.A 29.B 30.C 31.D 【导语】文章主要讲述短时高强度课间运动可提升学生专注力,但对数学能力有轻微负面影响。 【详解】28.细节理解题。根据第一段中“High-intensity (高强度) break exercises can help students focus better. Just a few minutes of activity improves brain function and learning, new research shows, offering a simple solution for classroom problems.(高强度课间运动可以帮助学生更好地集中注意力。新研究表明,短短几分钟的运动就能改善大脑功能与学习效率,为课堂专注力难题提供了简便的解决办法。)”和第二段中“Eric Drollette wondered how little exercise was needed to improve focus. He’s an exercise expert at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He led a team that designed a nine-minute, high-intensity break exercise program that could be done in a classroom without extra equipment.(运动专家埃里克·德洛莱特就职于北卡罗来纳大学格林斯伯勒分校,他想知道提升专注力所需的最短运动时长。他带领团队设计了一套时长九分钟的高强度课间运动方案,无需额外器械,在教室内即可完成。)”可知,该项目旨在帮助学生提升专注力。 29.细节理解题。根据第三段中“At Drollette’s lab, they wore a heart rate monitor (监测器) and an EEG hat that recorded brain activity in real time.(在德洛莱特的实验室里,他们佩戴心率监测器和脑电图帽,实时记录大脑活动。)”可知,学生需要佩戴记录大脑活动的设备。 30.细节理解题。根据第四段中“Students also performed better on the language tests after the high-intensity workout.(学生们在高强度运动过后,语言测试的表现也变得更好。)”可知,该运动提升了学生语言测试成绩。 31.主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是根据第一段中“High-intensity (高强度) break exercises can help students focus better.(高强度课间运动可以帮助学生更好地集中注意力。)”可知,全文围绕高强度课间运动助力学生专注力展开。“High-Intensity Break Exercises: An Aid for Students’ Focus(高强度课间运动:学生集中注意力的辅助方法)”符合题意。 (本题10分)What comes to mind when you hear the phrase “dress for success”? Perhaps it’s a no-brainer for you — wearing a nice suit so others will take you more seriously. But the truth is more complex (复杂的) and important. How we present ourselves doesn’t just change how others see us. It also changes how we see ourselves — and that can influence how we act. A recent study shows this point well. When people believe that they look better, they act more kindly. They even donate twice as much to the poor as those who do not feel the same way. The researchers find that when people feel good about their appearance, they believe more people will notice them. This encourages them toward more generous (慷慨的) and helpful social behavior. This new finding mirrors what scientists call the “halo effect”: it is common for people to believe that those who look good also have other positive qualities. In this way, they are more likely to be treated kindly or trusted. However, the new discovery is that this effect also works inwardly. When we feel we look good, we don’t just benefit from others’ positive opinions. We start to behave in ways that strengthen them. This change can begin early, as research shows even children are kinder to those who are “nice-looking.” In short, our self-image and our generosity are closely connected. This can create a positive feedback loop (反馈循环) : feeling good about our appearance builds up our confidence, which shapes our behavior in a positive way. In turn, the positive feedback from others strengthens our positive self-image. Therefore, dressing for success is not just about being seen by others. It is about becoming the kind of person who encourages kindness — both in yourself and in others. 32.(2.5分)Why does the author mention wearing a nice suit in Paragraph 1? A.To stress the cost of suits. B.To praise a formal lifestyle. C.To suggest a way to success. D.To lead into a new topic. 33.(2.5分)How does feeling good about one’s own appearance affect a person according to the recent study? A.It promotes kind social acts. B.It improves job performance. C.It shapes one’s character. D.It leads to self- centered behavior. 34.(2.5分)What is the new discovery about the “halo effect”? A.Its effect is self- directed. B.Its power works on others. C.Its basis is others’ kindness. D.Its influence is always strong. 35.(2.5分)What is the best title for the passage? A.Dress for Confidence: Feel Good B.Dress for Confidence: Impress Others C.Dress for Success: Gain Respect D.Dress for Success: Encourage Kindness 【答案】32.D 33.A 34.A 35.D 【导语】这是一篇说明文。文章探讨“为成功着装”的深层意义:良好形象不仅影响他人看法,还通过内心作用让人更友善慷慨,形成积极循环,真正意义在于激发自身与他人的善意。 【详解】32.推理判断题。根据第一段“What comes to mind when you hear the phrase “dress for success”? Perhaps it’s a no-brainer for you — wearing a nice suit so others will take you more seriously. But the truth is more complex (复杂的) and important. How we present ourselves doesn’t just change how others see us. It also changes how we see ourselves — and that can influence how we act.(当你听到“穿着得体以求成功”这句话时,脑海中会浮现出什么画面呢?对于你来说,这可能是个显而易见的道理——穿上一套得体的西装,以便让别人更重视你。但事实却要复杂得多,也更为重要。我们如何展现自己不仅会影响别人对我们的看法,还会改变我们对自己的看法——而这又会影响我们的行为方式)”可知,作者在第1段中提及穿一套漂亮的西装是为了以此引入一个新的话题。故选D。 33.细节理解题。根据第二段“When people believe that they look better, they act more kindly. They even donate twice as much to the poor as those who do not feel the same way. The researchers find that when people feel good about their appearance, they believe more people will notice them. This encourages them toward more generous (慷慨的) and helpful social behavior.(当人们认为自己外表更出众时,他们的行为也会变得更加友善。他们甚至向贫困者捐赠的金额是那些没有这种想法的人的两倍。研究人员发现,当人们对自己的外表感到满意时,他们就会认为会有更多的人注意到自己。这促使他们展现出更慷慨和乐于助人的社交行为)”可知,根据最近的研究,对自己外貌感到满意会促进友善的社交行为。故选A。 34.细节理解题。根据第三段“However, the new discovery is that this effect also works inwardly. When we feel we look good, we don’t just benefit from others’ positive opinions. We start to behave in ways that strengthen them. This change can begin early, as research shows even children are kinder to those who are “nice-looking.”(然而,新的发现是,这种效应在内心层面也同样起作用。当我们觉得自己外表出众时,我们不仅会受益于他人对我们的正面评价。我们还会开始以更能强化这种感觉的方式行事。这种变化可能在很早的时候就开始了,因为研究表明,就连儿童也会更友善地对待那些“长相出众”的人)”可知,“光环效应”的新发现是其影响是自我导向的。故选A。 35.主旨大意题。根据第一段“But the truth is more complex (复杂的) and important. How we present ourselves doesn’t just change how others see us. It also changes how we see ourselves — and that can influence how we act.(但事实却要复杂得多,也更为重要。我们如何展现自己不仅会影响别人对我们的看法,还会改变我们对自己的看法——而这又会影响我们的行为方式)”结合文章探讨“为成功着装”的深层意义:良好形象不仅影响他人看法,还通过内心作用让人更友善慷慨,形成积极循环,真正意义在于激发自身与他人的善意。可知,D选项“穿着得体:鼓励友善”最符合文章标题。故选D。 (本题12.5分)People only exhibit their best moments on social media. Some celebrities are airbrushed (美化) or hide the truth of their plastic surgery. Many people photoshop their faces and bodies to look exactly how they want. 36(2.5分) It seems that all the people are in pursuit of presenting their best images. Beyond these “best images”, some social media heavily promote eating disorder culture and unhealthy attitudes about food and weight in general. Some social media also promote over-exercising. 37(2.5分) However, pushing yourself too hard can be harmful and contributes to some eating disorders. When someone is exercising a lot, they need to eat more to fuel their body, but some people are often eating less than they should while pushing their bodies beyond the limit. 38(2.5分) Basically, people who struggle with eating disorders tend to think that they aren’t “sick enough”. If they encounter others with eating disorders, they constantly compare themselves. Thus, people, using social media, need to avoid posting videos or pictures with body checking, constant weighing, or calorie counting. This type of content simply isn’t helpful for anyone. So if you feel like you need to lose weight, discuss it with your doctor and make a personalized plan. 39(2.5分) As for me, I’ve learned a lot from my own struggle with an eating disorder. (自爱并不总是现实的;自我接纳要好得多。)”可知,后文提到了要自我接受,即建议接受自己本来的样子,做自己。故B选项“做你自己。”符合语境,故选B。 三、完形填空 (本题15分)16-year-old Mia Carter, a student from New York’s Brooklyn district, used to be obsessed with the “ideal body” images on social media. At first, it seemed to work. He won race after race, feeling on top of the world. His confidence soared, and he thought the ice cream was the secret to his success. His parents, though concerned about the unhealthy habit, let it slide as long as he was winning. However, as time passed, Mike started to gain weight, and his performance in the pool suffered. He went from first place to last, and his once-unbeatable feeling was gone. He was confused and disappointed, not understanding why his "lucky charm" had failed. His parents decided it was time for a change. They sat him down and explained the importance of a balanced diet and regular exercise. Reluctantly, Mike agreed to give up the ice cream and start training harder. His father offered to run with him, and they began a strict workout routine. At first, it was tough. Mike missed the comfort of his favorite ice cream, and practices were harder without the extra energy boost. But slowly, he started to feel healthier and stronger. His breathing improved, and he could swim faster and longer. The day of the final swim meet of the season arrived. Mike stood at the edge of the pool, feeling nervous but determined. He took a deep breath, remembering all the hard work he and his dad had put in. With a powerful dive, he entered the water and began to swim. Stroke by stroke, he pushed himself, ignoring the burning in his muscles. As he swam, he could hear the cheers of the audience faintly in the background. With every lap, he gained more confidence. When he made the final turn, he saw the finish line ahead. He gathered all his strength for one last burst and touched the wall. As he lifted his head out of the water, Mike glanced up at the scoreboard. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Shortly after coming out of the pool, Mike rushed to his parents excitedly. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version : As he lifted his head out of the water, Mike glanced up at the scoreboard. His name was at the top, displaying a personal best. Not only had he regained his strength, but he also surpassed his previous records. Pride and relief surged through him as he realized his hard work had paid off. The early morning runs, disciplined diet, and relentless training had brought him back to victory. The crowd’s cheers echoed, but what truly mattered was the quiet satisfaction of overcoming his struggles. This win was different—it was about perseverance and growth, not just luck. Shortly after coming out of the pool, Mike rushed to his parents excitedly. His face was glowing with excitement as he hugged them tightly. They hugged back, their eyes filled with tears of joy. Mike felt grateful for their unwavering support. He understood that the real key to his success was discipline and resilience, not the ice cream he once relied on. This victory wasn’t just about swimming; it was about proving to himself that he could rise up to challenges and achieve his goals through hard work and determination. 词汇激活 行为类 ①展示:display/demonstrate/show ②重要:matter/count ③克服:overcome/get over ④意识到:realize/be aware of 情绪类 ①快乐:joy/delight ②宽慰:relief/comfort 【点睛】【高分句型1】Not only had he regained his strength, but he also surpassed his previous records.(运用了部分倒装句式)     【高分句型2】The crowd’s cheers echoed, but what truly mattered was the quiet satisfaction of overcoming his struggles.(运用了what引导的主语从句) 试卷第1页,共3页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 2 / 2 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 高中英语单元测试——Unit 4 Looking Good,Feeling Good(较难版01)(解析版) 学校:___________姓名:___________班级:___________考号:___________ 一、听力选择题 1.(本题1.5分) What should Ella do first according to the man? A.Short Breaks: A Cure for Students’ Tiredness B.High-Intensity Break Exercises: A Way to Improve Math C.Short Breaks: A Solution to Building Health D.High-Intensity Break Exercises: An Aid for Students’ Focus (本题10分)What comes to mind when you hear the phrase “dress for success”? A.Dress for Confidence: Feel Good B.Dress for Confidence: Impress Others C.Dress for Success: Gain Respect D.Dress for Success: Encourage Kindness (本题12.5分)People only exhibit their best moments on social media. During my treatment, the most striking thing my nutritionist said to me was, “ 40(2.5分) ” She’s absolutely right. Self-love isn’t always realistic; self-acceptance is much better. A.You need to love your body. B.Take yourself as what you are. C.Indeed, proper exercising is healthy. D.A lot of the actual photos are straight-up fake. E.There are countless methods of changing their bodies. F.Don’t listen to strangers who don’t know you or your body. G.It’s essential to avoid posting things that could cause body image issues. 三、完形填空 (本题15分)16-year-old Mia Carter, a student from New York’s Brooklyn district, used to be obsessed with the “ideal body” images on social media. Before every swim meet, he would have a bowl, believing it was his lucky charm. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 试卷第1页,共3页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 2 / 2 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
