W: This is a photo of me with my three best friends. On the right is Jo. We were both born in the same hospital on the same day and Jo’s mom and mine became good friends. We have been playing together since we were little kids. She liked singing but I liked dancing. After school I went to university in Newcastle and she went to study law in London. There was no need to text and call daily, but we knew we were always there for each other. Dukey is a new friend. We joined the same company on the same day. He’s great fun. His parents are from Barbados but he was born in Oxford. He talks about holidays there. We’re all saving like mad, so we can go there too. Ah, and then there is Raff. We went to the same primary school but then his family moved to Dubai. And since then, we had lost touch. Years later, I saw his name online. Anyway, he’s now back in Oxford, working near me. It’s different from when we were teenagers, but we still love reading the same books. Isn’t that amazing?

After graduating from high school, the three of us girls kept in touch. But as we got older, years passed without seeing each other. We changed careers, circumstances and addresses.
In the spring of 2014, after Rich and Chris spent a weekend riding trails together in Virginia, Chris suggested the three of us plan a tour. I was a little worried before that first tour. How well did we know each other after all these years? Did we have as much in common as we used to? Would we have enough to talk about? We would be on trails for hours at a time for days. What if none of these were fun?
Actually, I needn’t have worried. We had plenty to talk about. We knew each other better than ever. We got tired and cranky. But the tour was fun. On the trails we talked about common friends we had, new friends we had, books, movies, and music. We circled back to certain conversations and revisited what we had heard or said.
Moving through a changing landscape and following the rivers or the coast seem to enable us to think more broadly and deeply. Having no goal other than reaching our accommodation before dusk presents an unexpected opportunity to deepen our understanding of each other and ourselves. And such unhurried days in nature in the company of friends turn out to be conducive to reflection.
Some places on the trails stay with me more than others. Encounters, too. Among them is the elderly retriever (寻回犬) on Prince Edward Island, waiting for us at the door of Shaw’s Hotel. It’s because, I think, the pleasures that we don’t anticipate stay with us for a longer time and get richer over time. Among these are friendships that persist despite life’s ups and downs, or because of them.
As I write, Chris and Rich are preparing to fly to California, where we’ll ride the Monterey Peninsula and Big Sur, near my home. Already, Tour 3 is underway. In our messages we joke with one another, testing out our lines. We plan, we disagree and complain, we express enthusiasm, and we start conversations, knowing they’ll continue on the trails — just as our friendship does.
What was the author’s primary concern about the planned tour in 2014?
A.The potential of failing to enjoy the trip.
B.The cost of the tour.
C.The difficulty of riding trails.
D.The physical challenges during the trip.
What is one benefit of travelling together without a specific goal?
A.Increasing physical strength. B.Discovering rare landscapes.
C.Improving communication skills. D.Encouraging deeper thoughts.
What does the author imply about unexpected pleasures?
A.They fade quickly with time. B.They grow deeper over time.
C.They depend on travel modes. D.They become less meaningful.
Why does the author mention Tour 3 in the last paragraph?
A.To contrast it with past experiences. B.To highlight an upcoming travel plan.
C.To indicate the continuation of friendship. D.To emphasize unsolved disagreements.
【答案】24.A 25.D 26.B 27.C
根据第二段“I was a little worried before that first tour. How well did we know each other after all these years? Did we have as much in common as we used to? Would we have enough to talk about? We would be on trails for hours at a time for days. What if none of these were fun? (在第一次旅行之前,我有点担心。这么多年过去了,我们彼此有多了解呢?我们还有像以前那样多的共同点吗?我们有足够的话题可聊吗?我们一次要在小径上待几个小时,持续好几天。如果这些都不有趣怎么办呢?)”可知,作者主要担心不能享受这次旅行。
25.细节理解题。根据第四段“Having no goal other than reaching our accommodation before dusk presents an unexpected opportunity to deepen our understanding of each other and ourselves. And such unhurried days in nature in the company of friends turn out to be conducive to reflection. (除了在黄昏前到达我们的住处之外,没有其他目标,这为我们提供了一个意想不到的机会,让我们更深入地了解彼此和我们自己。在朋友的陪伴下,在大自然中度过这样不慌不忙的日子,有利于反思。)”可知,没有特定目标的旅行能鼓励更深入的思考。
26.推理判断题。根据第五段“It’s because, I think, the pleasures that we don’t anticipate stay with us for a longer time and get richer over time. (我认为,这是因为我们没有预料到的快乐会陪伴我们更长时间,并且随着时间的推移会变得更加丰富。)”可知,作者暗示意外的快乐会随着时间变得更深。
27.推理判断题。根据最后一段“We plan, we disagree and complain, we express enthusiasm, and we start conversations, knowing they’ll continue on the trails — just as our friendship does. (我们计划,我们不同意并抱怨,我们表达热情,我们开始对话,知道这些对话会在小径上继续——就像我们的友谊一样。)”可知,作者提到第三次旅行是为了表明友谊的延续。
(本题10分)Nowadays, digital communication tools such as texts, video calls and emails have become the main ways for people to keep in touch. Yet people hold different opinions about whether text-based communication can build close emotional bonds the same way voice communication (phone, video chat and voice chat) does.
To figure out how different communication forms influence interpersonal ties, researchers conducted a series of experiments. In a field experiment, participants were asked to reconnect with an old friend either over the phone or e-mail. Other laboratory participants were invited to chat with a stranger over video, voice or text-based media. Results suggested that voice communication created stronger social ties and no increase in embarrassment, compared with text-based interactions. These findings break young people’s common misunderstanding that they can stay away from the social awkwardness by preferring a more indirect environment.
A further study also proved the limitations of text-based communication. In the experiment, teenagers were divided into two groups after finishing a stressful task: One group texted their mothers for comfort, while the other made phone calls. The research found that only voice calls could bring about an obvious drop in teenagers’ stress hormones. Although text messages are not cold or meaningless, they fail to produce the same biological effect as sincere spoken words.
From a biological view, hearing a familiar warm voice through voice communication can directly calm people’s nervous system and ease stress. Text-based communication only delivers written information, lacking the real-time emotional feedback. Even carefully written comforting words cannot bring the same positive physical reaction when people face pressure and anxiety.
Overall, although digital text-based communication brings certain convenience, it can never replace spoken interaction in building real social connections. Instead of hiding behind typed words, we should make phone calls or voice chats with family and friends regularly to develop real and lasting emotional ties.
Why do young people favor text-based communication?
A.To adapt to modern communication rules. B.To avoid social discomfort.
C.To improve the effectiveness of exchanges. D.To strengthen social connections.
What can be learned from the parent-child communication study?
A.Spoken words relieve pressure better.
B.Speaking pace affects communication.
C.Text messages lack emotional expressions.
D.Stress reduces willingness to communicate.
What does paragraph 4 mainly talk about?
A.Possible direction for further study.
B.Scientific explanations of the findings.
C.Comparisons of different stress levels.
D.Introduction to a new research method.
What does the author suggest in the last paragraph?
A.Value digital benefits. B.Type words to express feelings.
C.Prioritize voice communication. D.Focus on the art of conversation.
【答案】28.B 29.A 30.B 31.C
根据第二段“These findings break young people’s common misunderstanding that they can stay away from the social awkwardness by preferring a more indirect environment.(这些发现打破了年轻人普遍存在的误解,即他们可以通过选择更间接的交流方式来远离社交尴尬)”可知,年轻人喜欢文本交流是因为他们想要远离社交尴尬,避免社交带来的不适感。
根据第三段“The research found that only voice calls could bring about an obvious drop in teenagers’ stress hormones.(研究发现,只有语音通话能显著降低青少年的压力荷尔蒙水平)”可知,研究表明,语音能够更好地缓解压力。
根据第四段首句“From a biological view, hearing a familiar warm voice through voice communication can directly calm people’s nervous system and ease stress.(从生物学角度来看,通过语音交流听到熟悉的温暖声音能直接安抚人的神经系统并缓解压力)”可知,该段主要对研究结果给出了科学的解释。
根据最后一段“Instead of hiding behind typed words, we should make phone calls or voice chats with family and friends regularly to develop real and lasting emotional ties.(与其躲在打出的文字背后,我们应定期与家人朋友通话或语音聊天,以建立真实持久的情感纽带)”可知,和打字发短信相比,作者建议人们应该优先选择语音交流。
(本题10分)In his 1936 work How to Win Friends and Influence People, Dale Carnegie wrote: “I have come to the conclusion that there is only one way to get the best of an argument — and that is to avoid it.” This distaste for arguments is common, but it depends on a mistaken view of arguments that causes problems for our personal and social lives — and in many ways misses the point of arguing in the first place.
Carnegie would be right if arguments were fights, which is how we often think of them. Like physical fights, verbal (言语的) fights can leave both sides bloodied. Even when you win, you end up no better off. You would be feeling almost as bad if arguments were even just competitions — like, say, tennis tournaments. Pairs of opponents hit the ball back and forth until one winner comes out from all who entered. Everybody else loses. This kind of thinking explains why so many people try to avoid arguments.
However, there are ways to win an argument every time. When you state your position, formulate (阐述) an argument for what you claim and honestly ask yourself whether your argument is any good. When you talk with someone who takes a stand, ask them to give you a reason for their view and spell out their argument fully. Assess its strength and weakness. Raise objections (异议) and listen carefully to their replies. This method will require effort, but practice will make you better at it.
These tools can help you win every argument — not in the unhelpful sense of beating your opponents but in the better sense of learning about what divides people, learning why they disagree with us and learning to talk and work together with them. If we readjust our view of arguments — from a verbal fight or tennis game to a reasoned exchange through which we all gain respect and understanding from each other — then we change the very nature of what it means to “win” an argument.
What is the author’s attitude toward Carnegie’s understanding of argument?
A.Critical. B.Supportive. C.Tolerant. D.Uncertain.
Why do many people try to avoid arguments?
A.They lack debating skills. B.They may feel bad even if they win.
C.They fear being ignored. D.They are not confident in themselves.
What does the underlined phrase “spell out” in paragraph 3 probably mean?
A.Defend. B.Explain. C.Conclude. D.Repeat.
What is the key to “winning” an argument according to the author?
A.Sense of logic. B.Solid supporting evidence.
C.Proper manners. D.Understanding from both sides.
【答案】32.A 33.B 34.B 35.D
根据第一段中“This distaste for arguments is common, but it depends on a mistaken view of arguments that causes problems for our personal and social lives — and in many ways misses the point of arguing in the first place.(这种对争论的厌恶是很普遍的,但它取决于对争论的错误看法,这种观点会给我们的个人和社会生活带来问题——而且在很多方面,它首先忽略了争论的意义)”可知,作者对于Carnegie对争论的看法持批判态度,故选A。
根据第二段中“Like physical fights, verbal (言语的) fights can leave both sides bloodied. Even when you win, you end up no better off. You would be feeling almost as bad if arguments were even just competitions — like, say, tennis tournaments.(和身体上的打斗一样,言语上的打斗也会让双方流血。即使你赢了,你最终也不会变得更好。如果争论只是一场比赛,比如网球比赛,你也会感觉很糟糕)”可知, 很多人尽量避免争论,是因为即使赢了他们也感觉很糟糕,故选B。
34.词句猜测题。根据划线短语所在句“ask them to give you a reason for their view”可知,让他们为自己的观点提供依据,即让他们充分阐明他们的观点,spell out意为“解释明白,讲清楚”,故选B。
根据最后一段中“If we readjust our view of arguments — from a verbal fight or tennis game to a reasoned exchange through which we all gain respect and understanding from each other — then we change the very nature of what it means to “win” an argument.(如果我们重新调整我们对争论的看法——从一场口水战或网球比赛转变为一种理性的交流,通过这种交流,我们都能获得彼此的尊重和理解——那么我们就改变了‘赢得’争论的本质)”可知,作者认为“赢得”争论的关键是通过交流获得彼此的尊重和理解,故选D。
(本题12.5分)Nothing beats a friendship that has survived many years. 36(2.5分) Many have seen some challenges yet overcome (克服) them. Many more others have lost their friendships due to bad habits. That’s because when you keep repeating these bad habits, some friends get fed up and move away. 37(2.5分) They may just be marking time until they find new friends.
We can build rock-solid (坚若磐石) friendships when we develop good friendship habits and say “no” to the unhelpful ones. Here are some of them.
1. Comparing your friends with others
When you do that, it means you don’t appreciate (欣赏) your friends for who they are and the effort they’re putting in. 38(2.5分) Maybe you’ve lost sight of the fact that everyone has a different way of life. Instead of making comparisons, respect your friends for the unique journey they’re on.
2. Reminding your friends of their past mistakes
It’s bad enough for someone to think deeply about their own past misjudgments. 39(2.5分) For a friend to do it — to remind them of their mistakes. Constant (不 断 的) reminders of what they’ve done wrong can take people down a dark path. Don’t be the one to do that. You may lose a friend forever.
3. Disrespecting their differences
We’re all different, and we should show respect for those differences. 40(2.5分) Or, when we’re unable to respect those differences, we should apologize to our friends giving reasons why we can’t agree with them. That builds respect.
A.But you know what’s more wrong?
B.What do those regrets lead to eventually?
C.But it can be hard to keep long-term friendships.
D.Nobody is perfect, and everyone makes mistakes.
E.Others may hang around, but with one foot out the door.
F.We have to make room for these differences among our friends.
G.It means you may not fully recognize the different ways each person lives.
【答案】36.C 37.E 38.G 39.A 40.F
根据上文“Nothing beats a friendship that has survived many years. (没有什么能比得上历经多年风雨的友谊。)”可知,这是在赞美长期友谊的珍贵。再结合下文“Many have seen some challenges yet overcome (克服) them. Many more others have lost their friendships due to bad habits. (许多友谊经历了一些挑战但克服了它们。还有更多的友谊因为坏习惯而失去。)”可知,此处需说明另一部分朋友的状态,C选项“But it can be hard to keep long-term friendships. (但维持长期的友谊可能很难。)”承接上文且与下文为转折关系,符合语境。
37.根据上文“That’s because when you keep repeating these bad habits, some friends get fed up and move away. (这是因为当你不断重复这些坏习惯时,一些朋友会感到厌烦并离开。)”可知,一些朋友会因坏习惯而直接离开。再结合下文“They may just be marking time until they find new friends. (他们可能只是在消磨时间,直到找到新朋友。)”可知,此处需说明另一部分朋友的状态,E选项“Others may hang around, but with one foot out the door. (其他人可能还会在你身边,但已心存去意。)”通过“Others”引出另一种情况,即“虽然还留在身边,但心已经不在了”,与下文的“marking time until they find new friends”完美衔接,逻辑连贯。
38.根据上文“When you do that, it means you don’t appreciate (欣赏) your friends for who they are and the effort they’re putting in. (当你那样做时,意味着你不欣赏朋友本身以及他们的付出。)”可知,把朋友与他人比较是不欣赏朋友的表现,再结合下文“Maybe you’ve lost sight of the fact that everyone has a different way of life. (也许你忽视了每个人有不同生活方式这一事实。)”可知,此处需进一步说明把朋友与他人比较的错误之处。G选项“It means you may not fully recognize the different ways each person lives. (这意味着你可能没有充分认识到每个人的生活方式是不同的。) ”承接上文,且与下文“everyone has a different way of life”相呼应,符合语境。
39.根据上文“It’s bad enough for someone to think deeply about their own past misjudgments. (一个人对自己的过去判断失误耿耿于怀已经很糟糕了。)” 可知,这里在说一个人自己纠结于过去已经够糟了。下文“For a friend to do it — to remind them of their mistakes. (而朋友来做这件事——提醒他们的错误。)”是在说朋友来提醒错误更糟糕。因此,空处需要一个能引出“比上述情况更糟的事是什么”的句子。A选项“But you know what’s more wrong?( 但你知道什么是更糟糕的吗?)”
40.根据上文“We’re all different, and we should show respect for those differences. (我们都不一样,我们应该尊重这些差异。)”可知,我们要尊重朋友之间的差异,再结合下文“Or, when we’re unable to respect those differences, we should apologize to our friends giving reasons why we can’t agree with them. (或者,当我们无法尊重这些差异时,我们应该向朋友道歉,并说明我们为什么不能同意他们的观点。)”可知,此处需说明尊重朋友差异的具体做法,F选项“We have to make room for these differences among our friends.( 我们必须在朋友中为这些差异留出空间。)”

As I 56(1.5分) (get) off the airplane, I called the woman I would be traveling with for the next leg of my journey. We chatted while I rapidly walked through the Boston airport; she assured (使确信) me I was heading in the correct direction, even though the way to the gate 57(1.5分) we were meeting was long and strange for me. While I listened to her, I thought of how she sounded exactly like a friend of 58(1.5分) (I) who grew up in the same city with me. After a couple of hallways and unclear signs, I saw her.
We said hello in person for the first time and shortly thereafter boarded a 59(1.5分) (fly) to Portugal. For the next two years we worked, lived 60(1.5分) played together. Our adventures included sightseeing trips throughout Europe and 61(1.5分) (enjoy) lots of coffee. Although we haven't lived in the same place for three years, our friendship continues to deepen through occasional (偶 尔 的) visits and regular phone calls and text messages.
The story above is one example of the many friendships I have built because of my years 62(1.5分) a cross-cultural worker. From organizational training meetings to connection groups — my friendships and network 63(1.5分) (regular) grew. However, the growth wasn’t simply a long list of 64(1.5分) (friend). Instead, my friendships provided me with a window into the diversity (多样性) 65(1.5分) (find) in a cross-cultural world.
56.got 57.where 58.mine 59.flight 60.and 61.enjoying 62.as 63.regularly 64.friends 65.found
a list of后跟名词的复数形式,friend的复数形式为friends。

Dear teacher and fellow classmates,
I’m greatly honored to be here and share my ideas about making friends.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Dear teacher and fellow classmates,
I’m greatly honored to be here and share my ideas about making friends.
I firmly believe that having several true friends is enough for us. Firstly, true friends will always stay by our side and give us a hand when we are trapped in hard times. They share our joys and sorrows wholeheartedly, which most casual acquaintances can never really do. Secondly, we don’t have enough time and energy to maintain close bonds with too many people. A few deep friendships are far more precious than hundreds of meaningless superficial relationships.
That’s my opinion. Thank you!

The image of the staircase in the Smiley Building has haunted my memories for twenty years since high school graduation. Every school day, I climbed those concrete steps to reach math class or my locker. A naughty and misbehaved guy called Tom and some of his followers would sit on the staircase, rating others on a scale of 1 to 10 by appearance as they passed by and laughed very loud, impolite, arrogant (自大的) and rude.
Every time I walked up or down those stairs, their laughter echoed in my ears. “Just ignore them,” my mother advised. And I did. On the surface. But inside the painful message that I was “ugly” stuck deep in my soul. Quite often, the staircase would appear in my nightmares.
Eventually, I graduated, got admitted to the college, earned a degree in Communications, launched a rewarding career as a writer and teacher, got married, and raised two amazing boys. But when I looked in the mirror, the doubts returned, bearing a deep hatred against Tom, his followers and even the school.
When I received an invitation to my twentieth high school reunion, my mother was puzzled as I didn’t like high school. But I wanted to go back to confront those boys. I wanted to tell them how hurtful and unkind they were and that I had all the things they’d made me feel I wasn’t worthy of. I practiced my speech in my mind as I ran errands (出门办事), cooked dinner, and exercised outdoors.
Soon, the big day arrived. I put on my favorite blouse, touched up my make-up, and steeled myself for the coming Friday night, ready for the “fight”.
注意:
(1) 续写词数应为150个左右;
However, at the reunion, what I experienced made me feel I really needed to forgive.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
At this moment, the organizer read a letter from Tom, who was absent from the gathering.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
However, at the reunion, what I experienced made me feel I really needed to forgive. People present greeted me with warm smiles and kind words. They complimented my achievements and how well I was doing. I looked around, trying to find Tom and his group. But most faces were unfamiliar, and the ones who ever laughed at me together with Tom didn’t seem to have the same arrogance as before. They asked about each other’s updates, including mine. I started chatting with some of them. They also shared stories about their struggles and growth over the years. I realized that everyone had changed, and holding onto the past grudges was only weighing me down. My planned speech wilted (枯萎) on my lips. “But how about Tom?” I was wondering.
At this moment, the organizer read a letter from Tom, who was absent from the gathering. In the letter, Tom wrote, “I’m deeply sorry for my past behavior. I said things that were hurtful and acted like a jerk. I was immature and thoughtless. If you remember me that way, please forgive me.” Reading those words, I felt a wave of relief wash over me. I let go of all the pain and anger that had been with me for so long. I knew that forgiving was not for them, but for myself. From that moment on, I felt free, ready to embrace life with a lighter heart and a more open mind. I felt happier, more self-confident and attractive and the staircase appearing in my nightmares was nowhere to be seen.
①称赞:compliment/praise
②与……聊天:chat with/talk with
③放下:let go of/put down
①友好的:kind/friendly
②愤怒:anger/rage
【点睛】[高分句型1] I realized that everyone had changed, and holding onto the past grudges was only weighing me down.(运用了连词that引导宾语从句)
[高分句型2] I said things that were hurtful and acted like a jerk.(运用了关系代词that引导限制性定语从句)

注意:
