Amy and June came across each other while traveling with their fathers. Midway, Amy gave June a bright blue clay vase. It was a small gesture, but a simple friendship between two 4-year-olds began. Years flew by. The girls grew up together, becoming the closest friends. However, people change as they grow up. As Amy’s interests grew, she started to ignore June. Though hurt, June was still there when Amy needed support. But Amy brushed off June’s problems with “Later”. Finally, June couldn’t take it anymore and invited Amy to her house, hoping to figure their problem out. Instead, a terrible quarrel broke out. “What am I to you? A friend or just a convenience?” June cried. To her shock, Amy screamed back. “June, I hate you!” With these words, Amy stormed out and shut the door hard. The blue vase fell from the shelf by the door and crashed into pieces. A ten-year friendship was broken. One year passed. On her fifteenth birthday, June only felt sad. She remembered her happy fourteenth birthday with Amy. With bittersweet tears, she could still remember the image of four-year-old Amy holding out the blue vase to her. Suddenly, the doorbell rang. At the doorstep stood Amy, holding a small package. “I’m so sorry for how I’ve treated you.” She said, handing the package to June. June opened the gift. Inside was the blue clay vase, gently put back together with care. A letter from Amy read: “I’ve fixed the vase, just like I hope to fix our friendship. I promise to be there for you and cherish our friendship.” June and Amy smiled at each other, feeling the quiet strength of a friendship renewed. The vase now stands as a symbol of their lasting friendship. 24.(2.5分)What did June do when Amy began to ignore her? A.She shouted at Amy. B.She developed new interests. C.She tried to keep their friendship. D.She started to ignore Amy as well. 25.(2.5分)What caused the blue vase to break? A.It knocked against the shelf. B.June knocked it over by accident. C.It fell as Amy shut the door loudly. D.Amy threw it at June as she was angry. 26.(2.5分)Which word would best describe Amy? A.Reflective. B.Talkative. C.Imaginative. D.Cooperative. 27.(2.5分)What can we learn from this passage? A.Use a gift, and its value shines more brightly. B.Repair a friendship, and it grows stronger. C.Hope is a priceless gift. D.Friend is a second self. (本题10分)Nowadays, digital communication tools such as texts, video calls and emails have become the main ways for people to keep in touch. Yet people hold different opinions about whether text-based communication can build close emotional bonds the same way voice communication (phone, video chat and voice chat) does. To figure out how different communication forms influence interpersonal ties, researchers conducted a series of experiments. In a field experiment, participants were asked to reconnect with an old friend either over the phone or e-mail. Other laboratory participants were invited to chat with a stranger over video, voice or text-based media. Results suggested that voice communication created stronger social ties and no increase in embarrassment, compared with text-based interactions. These findings break young people’s common misunderstanding that they can stay away from the social awkwardness by preferring a more indirect environment. A further study also proved the limitations of text-based communication. In the experiment, teenagers were divided into two groups after finishing a stressful task: One group texted their mothers for comfort, while the other made phone calls. The research found that only voice calls could bring about an obvious drop in teenagers’ stress hormones. Although text messages are not cold or meaningless, they fail to produce the same biological effect as sincere spoken words. From a biological view, hearing a familiar warm voice through voice communication can directly calm people’s nervous system and ease stress. Text-based communication only delivers written information, lacking the real-time emotional feedback. Even carefully written comforting words cannot bring the same positive physical reaction when people face pressure and anxiety. Overall, although digital text-based communication brings certain convenience, it can never replace spoken interaction in building real social connections. Instead of hiding behind typed words, we should make phone calls or voice chats with family and friends regularly to develop real and lasting emotional ties. 28.(2.5分)Why do young people favor text-based communication? A.To adapt to modern communication rules. B.To avoid social discomfort. C.To improve the effectiveness of exchanges. D.To strengthen social connections. 29.(2.5分)What can be learned from the parent-child communication study? A.Spoken words relieve pressure better. B.Speaking pace affects communication. C.Text messages lack emotional expressions. D.Stress reduces willingness to communicate. 30.(2.5分)What does paragraph 4 mainly talk about? A.Possible direction for further study. B.Scientific explanations of the findings. C.Comparisons of different stress levels. D.Introduction to a new research method. 31.(2.5分)What does the author suggest in the last paragraph? A.Value digital benefits. B.Type words to express feelings. C.Prioritize voice communication. D.Focus on the art of conversation. (本题10分)Imagine you’re a manager who needs to give under-performing employees productive and respectful feedback and knows they are dealing with some personal issues that have been impacting their work. How would you talk to them in an empathetic but honest way? A new study by researchers at the Stanford Accelerator for Learning explores how virtual reality can help managers develop empathetic communication skills. In the study, the participants acted as a manager in VR and engaged in a performance review with a virtual pre-recorded employee. They were asked to give critical feedback to the virtual employee as their voice and body movements were recorded. Each participant completed three study conditions. In the first condition, they had the conversation twice in a row, to see if having a chance to practice would influence their approach. In the second condition, the participant switched places after the first conversation, viewing the scene from the perspective of the employee. They received the communication (both verbal and body language) exactly as they had recorded it as the manager, before repeating it from the perspective of the manager again. In the third condition, the participant received feedback on their approach to the conversation while reviewing their interaction. The researchers collected data on measures related to empathetic communication skills, and found that using VR to practice and repeat the conversation increased the participants’ expression of understanding for the employee’s situation and the expression of emotions. They used more first-person pronouns “I” and “we” and words that express emotions. The researchers said this suggests VR is a promising way to give large numbers of managers a real-life learning experience that helps them develop these essential skills. The study has crucial implications for how to train managers more effectively. “Having the opportunity to review one’s own performance and receive feedback actually changed how people speak within a ten-minute intervention,” said Anna Queiroz, lead author of the study. “Imagine if we did that in a more structured way and measured the long-term results?” 32.(2.5分)How does paragraph 1 introduce the topic of the text? A.By raising a question on virtue. B.By quoting a college professor. C.By sharing a personal life story. D.By describing an imaginary scene. 33.(2.5分)What did the participants do in the first two conditions? A.They skipped the conversation session. B.They intentionally acted as the employee. C.They engaged in the interaction as a manager. D.They received feedback from acting celebrities. 34.(2.5分)In what aspect did the participants acting as managers change? A.Their language style. B.Their memory ability. C.Their reading skills. D.Their career goals. 35.(2.5分)What does Anna Queiroz want to highlight by raising the question? A.The implication of empathy. B.The significance of VR training. C.Advantages of feedback on performance. D.Huge demands for well-trained managers. (本题12.5分)We’ve all been there — you’ve sent a message and it’s marked “read”, but you haven’t heard anything back. What’s the deal? While being left on read (已读不回) can be confusing, it’s also pretty common. 36(2.5分) Here are a few tips. Expect the best. Remind yourself that the person is probably just busy. Ask yourself if you actually know their schedule. There could be some time commitments you aren’t aware of. Here are a few other reasons for a delayed response. They want to give you a longer response but can’t right now. They put their phone away to focus on work or school. 37(2.5分) Maybe they thought about what they wanted to say but didn’t actually text it. 38(2.5分) Give them a little space so they have a chance to reply. If you send a lot of follow-up texts, it’ll be hard for them to keep up and they might get stressed. Leave them with just one text to catch up on — the other person will probably appreciate your patience. Reread your previous messages. See if there are any confusing texts that you need to clarify. It’s okay if you review your message again and notice that it might have been a little unclear — it happens! 39(2.5分) Put your phone away. 40(2.5分) Don’t let it upset or confuse you. If you get your mind off any notifications, you’ll be able to brainstorm new ways to spend your time. A.Try not to double-text. B.They accidentally forgot to reply. C.Fix your attention closely on text responses. D.Keep it out of sight and get some peace of mind. E.Ask yourself why being left on “read” frustrates or confuses you. F.You can keep the situation from troubling you until you hear back. G.You might feel relieved when you find something that is easy to misunderstand. 三、完形填空 (本题15分)Exactly one year ago, I was sitting in my room, feeling like my world had permanently collapsed. I poured my heart out to a group of 41 online. My post blew up, and one private message 42 everything. It was from a girl in Italy. She wasn’t just offering 43 — she was living the same pain, feeling the same loss. Though she lived 10,000 kilometers away, we started talking. At first, it was just about 44 — checking in to make sure the other had eaten or stopped crying. But slowly, our 45 turned into daily life. We found comfort through our screens, two strangers drawn together by a(n) 46 ache. When I finally decided to take a solo trip to Europe, she became my biggest cheerleader. Still, I was 47 . What if our online friendship didn’t work in real life? But when we finally stood face-to-face, there was no “getting to know you” 48 — just a strong sense of familiarity. We hit the streets of the city 49 , like we’d been exploring together for years. At one moment, we realized something 50 : the experiences that once 51 us were actually the price of admission for this 52 . Without that pain, we would never have met. And we agreed — we would choose to 53 it all again, just to end up here. Our lives are so much bigger than the 54 that came to us. There are people we haven’t met yet who will 55 us, and cities we haven’t seen yet that will feel like home. Hold on. It gets so much better. 41.(1分)A.cheerleaders B.strangers C.colleagues D.neighbors 42.(1分)A.changed B.ruined C.indicated D.controlled 43.(1分)A.sympathy B.promise C.chances D.services 44.(1分)A.consultation B.relaxation C.survival D.work 45.(1分)A.memories B.plans C.secrets D.messages 46.(1分)A.hidden B.shared C.incurable D.unknown 47.(1分)A.expectant B.curious C.nervous D.lonely 48.(1分)A.celebration B.method C.phase D.desire 49.(1分)A.regularly B.cautiously C.aimlessly D.leisurely 50.(1分)A.important B.unclear C.embarrassing D.familiar 51.(1分)A.broke B.silenced C.entertained D.escaped 52.(1分)A.discovery B.friendship C.flight D.bravery 53.(1分)A.forget about B.go through C.reflect on D.adapt to 54.(1分)A.fame B.wealth C.sadness D.boredom 55.(1分)A.hear from B.depend on C.look for D.care about 四、语法填空 (本题15分)阅读下面短文,在空白处填入1个适当的单词或括号内单词的正确形式。 In the past, it took days or even weeks to receive news from faraway friends. Now, thanks to advances in technology, the way we make friends 56(1.5分) communicate with them has changed greatly. Nowadays, we can move around the world and still stay 57(1.5分) touch with the people that we want to remain friends with. Social media tools let us see 58(1.5分) our friends are doing, which is 59(1.5分) (absolute) a good way to maintain friendships. The digital age allows us 60(1.5分) (find) people who share our interests. Whatever our hobbies, the Internet can connect us with others who also enjoy 61(1.5分) (do) the same things, even if they live on the other side of the world. But we need to remember that what we see on social media 62(1.5分) (be) often not the whole truth about a person or a situation. Sometimes smiling photos can hide real problems. On 63(1.5分) Internet, nobody knows who you really are. A young person could be old; a woman could be a man; we could even be sharing 64(1.5分) (we) information with criminals. This doesn’t mean that we should throw the baby out with the bath water. Although technology has changed the way we acquire friends, the 65(1.5分) (mean) of friendship and our longing for friends remain the same. 可适当加入细节,使内容充实、行文连贯; Establishing Happy and Healthy Interpersonal Relationships ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The Student Union 六、书面表达 67.(本题25分)阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整 的短文。 Samuel was my deskmate when I entered high school. Our headteacher hoped we’d get along. But he was like a headache I couldn’t get rid of. While I loved silence and strict plans, Samuel was pure chaos. He constantly tapped his pen against the desk, sang songs during quiet study hours, and always borrowed my eraser only to lose it immediately. I viewed him as an obstacle that might hurt my good grades. Our trouble reached its peak during the annual Science Fair project. We were paired to build a model bridge for the physics fair. I insisted on following the book design exactly, believing being exact was the only way to succeed. Samuel, however, kept suggesting “creative improvements,” adding unnecessary curves and decorations. “It needs soul, not just math!” he insisted. I refused, thinking his ideas were silly. We barely spoke, working in cold silence. Two days before the deadline, disaster struck. My strictly calculated bridge broke under a small weight test. The central support snapped, and my perfect plan lay in ruins. Panic washed over me. All my hard work seemed wasted, and failure felt certain. I put my head in my hands, ready to give up. Suddenly, the constant pen-tapping stopped. Samuel didn’t say “I told you so.” Instead, he gently moved the broken pieces aside. He opened his notebook, showing sketches he had made secretly — designs inspired by nature, like spider webs and tree roots. “Your math is perfect,” he said quietly, “but it forgot about being flexible. Let’s try combining your numbers with my structure.” Looking at his determined eyes, I swallowed my pride. We had less than 48 hours. We decided to work together, mixing my logical thinking with his wild creativity. That night, the classroom became a busy workshop. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ On the day of the competition, our bridge stood out among all the entries. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 试卷第1页,共3页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 2 / 2 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 高中英语单元测试——Unit 4 Friends Forever(较难版01)(解析版) 学校:___________姓名:___________班级:___________考号:___________ 一、听力选择题 1.(本题1.5分)What’s the probable relationship between the speakers? B.Strangers. C.Visitors. 18.(1.5分)Why do people have small talk? A.To express opinions. B.To avoid arguments. C.To show friendliness. 19.(1.5分)Which of the following is a frequent topic in small talk? A.Politics. B.Movies. C.Salaries. 20.(1.5分)What does the speaker recommend at the end of his lecture? A.Asking open-ended questions. B.Feeling free to change topics. C.Making small talk interesting. 【答案】17.B 18.C 19.B 20.A 【原文】 M: Hello, everyone. Today I’m going to talk about small talk, that is, short conversations people often have with strangers they meet. Such exchanges occur at bus stops, on buses, while waiting in line almost anywhere that strangers gather close together. As a matter of fact, these short conversations are a good way for people to say hello and express friendliness. Such conversations usually cover a wide range of topics. The topics may include weather, customer service, movies, TV shows, local sports or latest news. But you should always keep it in your mind that private questions about salaries, family life, religious beliefs and politics should be avoided during these conversations.  Besides, it’s better to ask open-ended questions. If you ask visitors, “Do you like our city?” They may say simply “Yes!” On the other hand, if you ask “What do you think of our city?”, they will have more freedom in answering. This type of question also shows that you’re interested in them. If you appear interested in what people are saying, they’ll feel more comfortable talking with you. 二、阅读理解 (本题7.5分)Events at the Library of CongressExperience the Main Reading Room It is a working research space and the experience is one of quiet reflection. It is not perfect, showing fine lines from being repaired. It tells a story of two girls’ friendship. 根据第二段“These findings break young people’s common misunderstanding that they can stay away from the social awkwardness by preferring a more indirect environment.(这些发现打破了年轻人普遍存在的误解,即他们可以通过选择更间接的交流方式来远离社交尴尬)”可知,年轻人喜欢文本交流是因为他们想要远离社交尴尬,避免社交带来的不适感。 29. 根据第三段“The research found that only voice calls could bring about an obvious drop in teenagers’ stress hormones.(研究发现,只有语音通话能显著降低青少年的压力荷尔蒙水平)”可知,研究表明,语音能够更好地缓解压力。 30. 根据第四段首句“From a biological view, hearing a familiar warm voice through voice communication can directly calm people’s nervous system and ease stress.(从生物学角度来看,通过语音交流听到熟悉的温暖声音能直接安抚人的神经系统并缓解压力)”可知,该段主要对研究结果给出了科学的解释。 31. 根据最后一段“Instead of hiding behind typed words, we should make phone calls or voice chats with family and friends regularly to develop real and lasting emotional ties.(与其躲在打出的文字背后,我们应定期与家人朋友通话或语音聊天,以建立真实持久的情感纽带)”可知,和打字发短信相比,作者建议人们应该优先选择语音交流。 (本题10分)Imagine you’re a manager who needs to give under-performing employees productive and respectful feedback and knows they are dealing with some personal issues that have been impacting their work. 根据第一段中“Imagine you’re a manager who needs to give under-performing employees productive and respectful feedback and knows they are dealing with some personal issues that have been impacting their work.(想象你是一位经理,需要给表现不佳的员工提供有效且尊重的反馈,并且你知道他们正在处理一些影响工作的个人问题。)” 根据第二段中“In the study, the participants acted as a manager in VR (在这项研究中,参与者扮演虚拟现实中的管理者)”和第三段中“In the first condition, they had the conversation twice in a row(在第一个条件下,他们连续进行了两次对话)”和“In the second condition, the participant switched places after the first conversation, viewing the scene from the perspective of the employee. They received the communication (both verbal and body language) exactly as they had recorded it as the manager, before repeating it from the perspective of the manager again.(在第二个条件下,参与者在第一次对话后切换位置,从员工的视角观看场景。他们接收到自己作为经理时录下的沟通内容(包括口头和肢体语言)然后再从经理的视角重复一遍。)”可知,在前两个条件中,参与者都是以经理的身份参与互动,即使第二个条件中切换了视角,最终仍会回到经理角色重复对话。故选C。 34.推理判断题。根据第四段中“They used more first-person pronouns ‘I’ and ‘we’ and words that express emotions.(他们使用了更多的第一人称代词‘我’和‘我们’以及表达情感的词汇。)” 故选A。 35. 根据最后一段中Anna Queiroz说的话“Having the opportunity to review one’s own performance and receive feedback actually changed how people speak within a ten-minute intervention(有机会回顾自己的表现并收到反馈,实际上在10分钟的干预中改变了人们的说话方式)”和“Imagine if we did that in a more structured way and measured the long-term results?(想象一下,如果我们以更系统化的方式进行这种干预并衡量长期效果呢?)” (本题12.5分)We’ve all been there — you’ve sent a message and it’s marked “read”, but you haven’t heard anything back. As we know, good interpersonal relationships play an important role in our emotional well-being and personal growth. Therefore, it is vital for us students to get along well with one another. However, it is common that some students can’t get on well with their classmates because of personality differences. Thus, how can we build healthy and happy relationships with others? From my perspective, we are supposed to treat others with love and respect. In addition, I hold the belief that we ought to be tolerant and try to understand each other. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 That night, the classroom became a busy workshop. I carefully checked the numbers for every piece, while Samuel skillfully built the curved parts based on his nature drawings. His usual humming was now a soft song that kept us happy when we felt tired. Whenever I could not solve a hard problem, his creative ideas offered a surprising answer; whenever his design seemed too wild, my facts made it safe. The silence between us was no longer cold but comfortable, filled with our shared goal to build something great. By dawn, our bridge stood complete, a perfect mix of math and art. On the day of the competition, our bridge stood out among all the entries. While others were either just useful or just pretty, ours had both strength and beauty. The judges looked pleased as they put heavy weights on our model. It held firm, supporting far more than needed without breaking. When they announced us as the first-prize winners, Samuel and I gave each other a high-five. Holding the prize together, I finally understood what our teacher had seen. Samuel was not a problem to be fixed, but a partner who made me better. Our differences had not pulled us apart; instead, they had built a bridge between our hearts that would last forever. 词汇激活 行为类 ①解决问题:solve a problem/settle a problem ②支持:support/back 情绪类 ①疲惫的:tired/exhausted ②高兴的:pleased/delighted 【点睛】【高分句型 1】I carefully checked the numbers for every piece, while Samuel skillfully built the curved parts based on his nature drawings.(运用while连接的并列句,表示对比) 【高分句型 2】Our differences had not pulled us apart; instead, they had built a bridge between our hearts that would last forever.(运用了that引导的定语从句 ) 试卷第1页,共3页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 2 / 2 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $听力考试正式开始。Are you satisfied with the dishes?
