(本题7.5分)There are many fun, free activities that you can do as a family. All that is required is a bit of imagination and some time. And the best part is that these are the kind of fun and family memories that a kid will remember for a lifetime.
Family Game Night
Kids often get games for Christmas or birthdays, and would love to have a chance to play with their family or make up some games of their own. Charades (猜字谜游戏) is a fun game that will challenge kids to use their imagination. Divide the family into teams and let each team come up with words and the other has to act out.
Family Art Time
Pick some time for the family to sit down and come up with their own art. It doesn’t need to be just a drawing — take some old magazines, let the kids cut out pictures and paste them into their own shape. Or let them use leaves, branches and whatever else they can find to make something from their imagination.
Family Picnic
Taking the family for a picnic is a great way for some fun that doesn’t cost any money. If the weather is nice, take them to a park or playground and let them have a day of playing.
Family Field Trip
A family field trip doesn’t have to cost a cent. Ask a nearby farm if you can bring your kids out for a tour and to see some of the animals. Or take them to a park to find certain items from nature. Ask a local business if you could bring the family for a tour to see how things work — you might be surprised at the number of people who would be excited to share what they do with others, and it could be an interesting lesson for kids.
What are kids supposed to do when playing the game charades?
A.Prepare some cakes for each other.
B.Be quick to follow others’ actions.
C.Sing a song for each other in turn.
D.Connect actions with certain words.
What can be inferred from the last paragraph?
A.It costs a lot to visit a park for a family.
B.You may share your own experience with workers.
C.You should ask for permission from the farm owner.
D.All the people will be excited to share what they have with you.
Whom is the passage mainly intended for?
A.Teachers. B.Parents. C.Tourists. D.Teenagers.
根据Family Game Night部分“Charades (猜字谜游戏) is a fun game that will challenge kids to use their imagination. Divide the family into teams and let each team come up with words and the other has to act out.(猜字谜游戏是一种有趣的游戏,能激发孩子们的想象力。将家庭成员分成两组,一组想词,另一组要把词表演出来)”可知,在玩字谜游戏时,孩子们应该把动作和特定的单词联系起来。
22.推理判断题。根据Family Field Trip部分“Ask a nearby farm if you can bring your kids out for a tour and to see some of the animals. (问问附近的农场,你是否可以带你的孩子出去参观,看看一些动物)”可推知,你应该征求农场主人的同意。
23.推理判断题。根据第一段“There are many fun, free activities that you can do as a family. All that is required is a bit of imagination and some time. (有很多有趣且免费的活动可供全家一起开展。只需要一点想象力和时间)”以及下文反复出现的Kids、family可知,这篇文章主要介绍了几个以家庭为单位的免费活动,这些活动能带给参与的孩子更多的乐趣和回忆,由此可推知,这篇文章主要是写给父母的。
(本题10分)Like everybody else in America, I was looking for a side job that can make a few extra dollars, so I can afford my favorite things.
So I read all the articles about taking surveys (for pennies) or becoming a remote receptionist. I even briefly considered delivering pizzas, but I realized I’d be fired after the first night for picking all the sausages off customers’ pizzas and leaving just the bare dough (面团).
I leafed through one of my four copies of Infinite Jest, and an idea slowly formed. I could sell books. My books. No, not books I’ve actually written, but all of the hundreds of books I’ve compulsively purchased over the years and never quite gotten around to. Since all roads lead to Amazon, I requested permission to join Amazon Marketplace.
After a certain age, you forget about the person you used to be. Apparently, I was a person who thought deep thoughts. Part of me wishes I was still that person, someone with intellectual curiosity.
But I forgot about all that when I discovered that my copy of Steve Martin’s 1977 masterpiece Cruel Shoes is worth $35.Should I hang onto it? It can only appreciate in value, right? What if Steve Martin dies? The price will go through the roof.
A year has gone by. I’ve added 10 books to the “sell” pile, and only after the kind of painful internal debate usually reserved for buying a new home. And even though I owned three copies of The Gunslinger, I felt ambivalent about letting it go. It was a book, and I loved it. I loved the memories of where I was in my life when I first bought it at a mall bookstore. The mall is gone. And now the book is.
But each book reminds me that authors live forever through their work. Each book, too, reminds me of a younger me, and I don’t want to let that younger me go.
So, please, whatever you do, don’t buy my books.
Why did the author join Amazon Marketplace?
A.To get rid of boring daily life. B.To collect secondhand books.
C.To get some extra income. D.To sell the books he wrote.
What kind of person did the author use to be?
A.Someone thirsty for knowledge. B.Someone with unrealistic ideas.
C.Someone addicted to the Internet. D.Someone expert at doing business.
What does the underlined word “ambivalent” in Paragraph 6 probably mean?
A.Relieved. B.Hesitant. C.Pleased. D.Nervous.
Which word can best describe the author?
A.Greedy. B.Knowledgeable. C.Humorous. D.Considerate.
【答案】24.C 25.A 26.B 27.C
根据第一段中“I was looking for a side job that can make a few extra dollars, so I can afford my favorite things.( 我在找一份能赚外快的兼职,这样我就能买得起我最喜欢的东西了。)”
根据第四段“After a certain age, you forget about the person you used to be. Apparently, I was a person who thought deep thoughts. Part of me wishes I was still that person, someone with intellectual curiosity.(过了一定的年龄,你会忘记曾经的自己。显然,我是一个善于思考的人。我的一部分希望我还是那个人,一个有求知欲的人。)”可推知,作者过去是一个渴求知识的人。故选A。
根据第六段画线词前面的“And even though I owned three copies of The Gunslinger(尽管我有三本《枪手)”和后面的“ It was a book, and I loved it. I loved the memories of where I was in my life when I first bought it at a mall bookstore.(那是一本书,我很喜欢。我喜欢回忆我第一次在商场书店买到这本书时的情景。)”可知,作者虽然有三本相同的书, 但是由于喜爱书,以及它带来的记忆,所以还是对是否卖掉这些书犹豫不决。故划线词与B选项“Hesitant. (犹豫的)”为同义词。故选B。
27.推理判断题。根据第二段中“I even briefly considered delivering pizzas, but I realized I’d be fired after the first night for picking all the sausages off customers’ pizzas and leaving just the bare dough (我甚至一度考虑送披萨,但我意识到,第一天晚上我就会被解雇,因为我从顾客的披萨上拿走了所有的香肠,只留下了面团。)”以及最后一段“So, please, whatever you do, don’t buy my books.(所以,无论你做什么,都不要买我的书。)”
(本题10分)At any bus stop or while waiting in line, most people will have their heads down scrolling (滚屏) on their phones. But studies suggest if you resist that urge and let your mind wander instead, there could be some serious benefits.
Social psychology professor Erin Westgate compares mindless scrolling to “brain candy” — momentarily pleasurable but lacking in meaning. She adds human achievements largely come from higher-order thinking.
So next time you have a few minutes free, put away your phone and let your mind wander. Many people fear boredom, but this fear is often overblown. In a 2022 study, people predicted they would hate 20 minutes alone doing nothing, yet afterward reported greater enjoyment than expected. According to researcher Kou Murayama, the ability to mentally wander — to reflect on past experiences, and consider others’ viewpoints — is a distinctly human capacity that boosts learning and helps understand others.
Mind-wandering is also key to problem-solving. People often find solutions better after unfocused thinking than intentional effort alone, especially during routine tasks like driving or showering. Even when people are not actively thinking, their brains remain active in a so-called default mode (默认模式), allowing ideas to connect in new ways. It’s especially helpful for complex problems.
Beyond cognitive (认知的) benefits, daydreaming also boosts social and emotional connections. A study found imagining pleasant interactions with loved ones made people feel closer. Social daydreaming allows individuals to practice conversations, reflect on past interactions, and prepare for future social situations. As psychologist Poerio says, our ability to mentally “time travel” helps us better handle the social world.
Murayama says he now tries to resist checking his phone during short waits and let his thoughts wander. He finds simply entertaining oneself mentally can be both satisfying and meaningful.
Why does Erin Westgate compare mindless scrolling to “brain candy”?
A.It brings quick but shallow enjoyment.
B.It replaces deep thinking in daily life.
C.It helps people to avoid boredom.
D.It does harm to people’s health.
What is the 2022 study used to demonstrate?
A.Phone addiction is avoidable.
B.Self-reflection defines humans.
C.Being alone promotes learning.
D.Daydreaming is undervalued.
What does the default mode suggest?
A.Intentional effort brings new ideas.
B.Unfocused thinking fuels creativity.
C.Routines involve little brain activity.
D.Complex tasks require active minds.
Which of the following is a suitable title for the text?
A.Maintain Focus in the Digital Age
B.Discover the Joy of Being Truly Alone
C.Unlock the Power of Your Wandering Mind
D.Explore the Benefit of Entertaining
【答案】28.A 29.D 30.B 31.C
根据第二段“Social psychology professor Erin Westgate compares mindless scrolling to “brain candy” — momentarily pleasurable but lacking in meaning. She adds human achievements largely come from higher-order thinking.( 社会心理学教授埃琳·韦斯特盖特将这种无意识的滑屏行为比作“大脑糖果”——短暂的愉悦但缺乏意义。她补充道,人类的大部分成就都源于高阶思维。)”可知,埃琳·韦斯特盖特将无意识地浏览网络内容比作“大脑糖果”是因为它能带来快速但肤浅的愉悦感。
29.推理判断题。根据第三段“So next time you have a few minutes free, put away your phone and let your mind wander. Many people fear boredom, but this fear is often overblown. In a 2022 study, people predicted they would hate 20 minutes alone doing nothing, yet afterward reported greater enjoyment than expected. According to researcher Kou Murayama, the ability to mentally wander — to reflect on past experiences, and consider others’ viewpoints — is a distinctly human capacity that boosts learning and helps understand others.( 所以,下次你有几分钟空闲时间时,把手机收起来,让思绪自由飘荡吧。很多人害怕无聊,但这种恐惧往往被夸大了。在 2022 年的一项研究中,人们预测独自静坐 20 分钟什么都不做会让他们讨厌这种经历,但事后他们表示比预期的还要更享受。据研究员库·穆拉马所说,能够进行思绪的自由飘荡——反思过往经历,考虑他人的观点——是人类独有的能力,能促进学习并有助于理解他人。)”可推知,2022 年的这项研究旨在证明白日梦未得到足够的重视。
30.细节理解题。根据第四段中“Even when people are not actively thinking, their brains remain active in a so-called default mode (默认模式), allowing ideas to connect in new ways. (本题10分)Holidays are often described as picture-perfect moments: families happily united around a table filled with seasonal food favorites against a perfect background. For many parents, making efforts to meet such unrealistic expectations can destroy their self-worth gradually. In the real world, parents are juggling (同时兼顾) more activities from work to home. It’s all too easy to fall into survival parenting, one way where the focus is on simply getting through the day. These holidays can feel like anything but a holiday.
U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy released a warning in August 2024 calling for a rapid recovery of parental well-being. Murthy along with scientists and parents sees that the modern-day stress of parenting is seriously affecting the physical and mental health of caregivers. He states his deep worries about reports that most days, nearly half of all parents feel seriously stressed.
Data from a 2022 Household Pulse Survey found that most of parents — including 35% with children under 5 and 54% with children between 5 and 11 — have no formal child care support. This is surely caused, in part, by two facts: the rising costs for child care and fewer choices for child’s day care.
The research shows that focusing only on getting through the day with your kids is connected to more stress and harsher (严苛的) parenting behaviors. When a mom or dad is in survival mode, it’s possible for them to shout requests and criticize their children’s behavior, instead of thinking through the impacts of these behaviors. Stressed-out parents are quicker to criticize little things that get in the way of reaching immediate goals, such as spilling (洒出) flour on the floor. And they are slower to notice and admit their child’s strengths, such as their interest in helping in the kitchen.
However, bringing joy back to parenting during holidays — and any time of the year — is more direct than the “perfect” meal plans on social platforms. The secret to getting away from surviving the moment is to refocus on the future you want to create.
What is the parents’ real situation during the holidays according to the passage?

根据第一段中的“In the real world, parents are juggling (同时兼顾) more activities from work to home. It’s all too easy to fall into survival parenting, one way where the focus is on simply getting through the day. These holidays can feel like anything but a holiday.(在现实生活中,父母们要同时兼顾从工作到家庭的更多事务。人们很容易陷入生存式育儿,这种方式的核心就是熬过一天。这样的假期根本算不上假期。)”可知,假期里父母的真实状况是顶着巨大压力艰难撑过每一天。故选A项。
根据第三段中的“Data from a 2022 Household Pulse Survey found that most of parents — including 35% with children under 5 and 54% with children between 5 and 11 — have no formal child care support. This is surely caused, in part, by two facts: the rising costs for child care and fewer choices for child’s day care. (2022年家庭脉搏调查的数据显示,大多数父母——包括35%有5岁以下孩子的父母和54%有5至11岁孩子的父母——没有正规的育儿支持。这在一定程度上肯定是由两个事实造成的:育儿成本不断上升和儿童日托的选择越来越少。)”可知,第三段的目的是分析父母产生育儿压力的部分原因。故选C项。
34.推理判断题。根据最后一段中的“However, bringing joy back to parenting during holidays — and any time of the year — is more direct than the “perfect” meal plans on social platforms. The secret to getting away from the surviving the moment is to refocus on the future you want to create.

One possible version:
Good morning, everyone. The quote means that it is your family members who love you the most and tolerate all your inappropriate behavior, while it is them who you treat with the most impolite attitude or behavior.
Personally, I believe this idea holds true. I tend to be less polite and more relaxed, sometimes even rude at home. However, I wouldn’t do that with friends or strangers because I have to behave properly toward them.
In summary, while home is where we experience the most love, it’s also where we can sometimes show our worst sides, knowing we won’t lose that love.

For a long time, I watched my classmates carrying smartphones around casually, and a strong desire welled up in my heart. I was eager to own one of my own. For months, I kept begging my parents for a phone, arguing that it could help me search for learning resources and keep pace with my classmates. Eventually, my parents gave in and bought me a smartphone out of love and trust.
One soft, golden Saturday afternoon, sunlight streamed through the bedroom window, painting the room with a warm glow, yet I felt no comfort at all. Bent over my phone as usual, I was totally absorbed in online videos, indulging in momentary joy and laziness.
The piles of unfinished homework lay on the desk, completely slipping my mind. My mother had reminded me time and again to focus on my studies, but I grew increasingly impatient and always turned a deaf ear to her advice.
That afternoon, Mom stepped into my room and found me still staring at the screen. Her patience finally wore thin. She walked over and took my phone away firmly. A burst of irritation welled up inside me, and I flew into a rage. I shouted rudely at her, pouring out my frustration and complaining that she never understood my stress and kept restricting my freedom.
My harsh words left Mom stunned and hurt. She stood there motionlessly, her lips trembling and eyes brimming with disappointment. She said nothing and left in silence. As I slammed the door heavily, anger still occupied my heart.
注意:1. 续写词数应为150词左右;
But the moment the room fell dead quiet, my anger faded little by little.

A few moments later, I gathered my courage and walked to the living room.

But the moment the room fell dead quiet, my anger faded little by little. The loud slam of the door echoed in my empty heart, and bitter regret crept over me inch by inch. I glanced at the messy, untouched homework and the warm sunlight outside the window, shame burning my cheeks. Images of Mom’s trembling lips and watery eyes flashed through my mind. Not until then did I realize how selfish and ungrateful I had been — she bought the phone trusting me to study better, while I wasted time on videos and lashed out at her kind reminders. Guilt weighing heavily on my chest, I buried my face in my hands, too ashamed to stay in the bedroom any longer.
A few moments later, I gathered my courage and walked to the living room. Mom sat quietly on the sofa, staring blankly out the window without a word. My throat tightening, I stepped forward slowly, voice shaky with self-accusation. I bowed my head sincerely and apologized for my rude shouts and blind addiction to the phone, promising to arrange screen time properly and prioritize schoolwork. Mom turned around, her tired eyes softening instantly. She pulled me into a gentle hug, forgiving me without blame. We reached an agreement: I could use the phone only to look up learning materials after finishing all tasks, with fixed daily time limits. At that moment, warmth flooded my whole body, and I truly understood the quiet love hidden behind Mom’s strictness.

Like everybody else in America, I was looking for a side job that can make a few extra dollars, so I can afford my favorite things.
A.They fight hard through great stress.
B.They improve their parenting mode for kids.
C.They effortlessly reunite with a large family.

Which is the most suitable title for the text?

It’s easy to see the fun in buying an ice-cream or going shopping with friends. However, you might be surprised to hear that saving money can be even more exciting. 37(2.5分) Suddenly it doesn’t seem quite so boring when you realize saving money is the key to making your dreams come true.
The key to successful saving is setting yourself a goal. It’s good to give yourself a mix of short-term and long-term goals. Think of something you’d like to buy, write down how much it costs, then work out how much you can afford to save each week and how long it will take you to reach your goal.
It helps to keep your savings separate from the rest of your money so that you don’t accidentally spend it. You could use a money box or a savings account. 39(2.5分) Some savings accounts allow you to withdraw money whenever you like, but some will keep your money locked away for several years or until you become an adult.
That can inspire and assist you in enjoying and maintaining the habit of saving. Every penny you save takes you one step closer to reaching your goal. What could be more exciting than that?
A.Most people pick a savings account to get interest.
B.With a savings account, you can spend your money freely.

注意:1. 续写词数应为150词左右;
