Listening as a group of teens sang and played the guitar,I felt the positive energy. It was September
2024,and I was thrilled to see them being inspired at the Musicians Making A Difference(MMAD)venue
in Gosford,NSW.During the jam session, one of the teens pulled me aside.Like all the kids at MMAD,
he'd faced more than his fair share of struggles, but was thriving through our program."I just want to say
thank you. This place saved my life. It's like a family to me,"he said.Choking up,I told him it was just
the beginning.
My own childhood was challenging.I was raised by a single mom,we had moved around a lot in
social housing.By my teens,I felt lost and got into trouble with the law. When I was 17,my neighbor
Vicky was throwing out an old guitar."I'd like to learn to play,"I told her."Then it's yours,"she said,
even encouraging me to attend a songwriting camp.Finding music and having someone believe in me were
what I needed to make positive changes.
When I grew up,I worked in juvenile justice(未成年审判),but always had a vision of using music
to help at-risk kids discover their potential. In 2000,I held the first camp for around 20 young people.
Over three days, our team worked to build dreams through music, inspiring attendees to create something
great for their future, regardless of their past.Afterwards,I knew my vision for MMAD was something
special. It took 10 years of uncountable voluntary hours running programs and events, before the music
industry recognized the impact of our work.
Now,our charity has been changing the lives of vulnerable (and at-risk youths aged 13 to
24 around the country, with free in-person and online programs, for over 20 years.Every year we hold our
MMAD Day to empower young people to go on and make their own difference in the world, and to me that
is the real power of music.
24.What is the main purpose of the first paragraph?
A.To narrate a personal story.
B.To highlight teens'struggles.
C.To show the impact of MMAD.
D.To emphasize the power of music.
25.What can we learn about the author in his teenage years?
A.He had a stable childhood.
B.He grew into a talented musician.
C.He was laughed at by his neighbors
D.He benefited from music and trust.

It is not generally realized, for example, that a tale written in China in the ninth century is the world's
oldest known version of the story of Cinderella ()The next earliest was not published until seven
hundred years later-in Lyons,France,in 1544.In addition,350 other stories that are related in some
way to Cinderella have been collected from every continent.
Those Cinderella stories fall into two main groups. In one,the focus is on the ball, while
comparatively little attention is paid to the supernatural force that helps her. This is the type most familiar
to us and most commonly found in western Europe. In those found in eastern Europe, much attention is
paid to the helpful animals. But the Chinese version contains both.
Old though it is,the Chinese version shows definite signs of having been based on still earlier-and
now lost-versions.The incident of the ball, for example,is linked with the rest of the story so unnaturally
that it seems that the author has borrowed this incident from some still earlier version, but without clearly
understanding its significance. It will also be remembered that the king who married the girl came from a
country called T'o-huan.Though this country is not identified in the story,we know from Chinese historical
writings of that time that there was a small country by that name located near a region called To-ho-lo.
And To-ho-lo can be identified with certainty as close to the modern city of Bangkok in Thailand. This
makes it probable that the Chinese story of Cinderella did not originate in China, but was taken there from
Southeast Asia, perhaps by the Arabs who went as traders to Canton in large numbers.
This story shows that the same simple virtues that are regarded as basic in the West have been
emphasized for centuries in China and other parts of Asia.It is but one example of the way a story or an
idea can travel all over the world.
28.What phenomenon is described in the first paragraph?
A.A story usually has different origins.
B.Chinese literature has a very long history.
C.Different countries may have similar stories.
D.French literature was influenced by the Chinese.
29.What is unique about the Chinese version of Cinderella?
A.The plot develops more naturally.
B.It is centered on those helpful animals.
C.Relatively little attention is paid to the ball.
D.It stresses both the ball and the supernatural force.
30.Which evidence shows that the Chinese version originates in Southeast Asia?
A.The original writer's identity.
B.Some related historical records.
C.A newly found version of the story.
D.A well-known kingdom in the story.
31.How is the text mainly developed?
A.By analyzing an example.
B.By reviewing studies.
C.By telling a very old story.
D.By conducting surveys.

The Internet is a busy place, with billions of interactions, millions of content pieces, and large
numbers of social media accounts and data about people. But in recent years, the so-called "dead Intemet
theory"has gained popularity. The theory suggests that most activities online are generated by bots(
收版)·四
第4页(共8页)
机器人)and AI agents,not by humans.
Thanks to generative Al,plenty of AI-generated models and influencers now often show up online.
AI-generated content has changed the dynamics of the Intemet, making it cheaper than ever to become a
content creator.It makes sense,especially from a creator's perspective.If you spend a few hours on a
video for your social pages, you expect to get likes, follows, and subscriptions. However,if you can
produce three videos within the same time with AI assistance, you're increasing your chances of creating
those things within the same period.
However,AI could lead to an Internet that feels dead due to a lack of obviously original content and
articles that lack a human-touch-regardless of viewpoint, experience or humor.Fortunately, one glimmer
of hope here is that some online giants have been taking action to reduce bot use,or so they say.Such
measures are partly due to advertisers becoming more understanding regarding what makes up real human
views versus bot-generated ones. So,no,the Internet is not dead.At least not yet.
Dead Internet theory may be hyperbole ()but it raises two important points.First, the Internet
is undoubtedly moving in this direction.Second, and more significantly, the theory causes a broader
unease about the emotional and social dynamics online.Social media is now the primary news source for
many users around the world. Therefore, there's potential for AI agents to promote false information and
interact with each other to boost engagement, which does leave room for concem.
So we do have to accept that humans share online spaces with bots and AI agents. As information
spreads faster than ever across digital platforms, caution is advised:never assume it's actually a human
you're interacting with on the other side of your screen.
32.What can be learned about "dead Internet theory"?
A.AI agents and bots dominate online activities.
B.Content found online is frequently repeated.
C.Humans are losing interest in online interactions.
D.Social media collapse due to information overload.
33.Why do today's creators tum to AI for content production?
A.To guarantee the originality of their content.
B.To make content creation completely effortless.
C.To enhance efficiency of achieving their goals.
D.To adapt to the changing dynamics of the Internet.
34.What does paragraph 4 mainly talk about?
A.The role of social media in news distribution.
B.Digital platforms as the main source of news.
C.The analysis of the reasons for Internet death.
D.Social media's influence and its potential issues.
35.What is the author's advice on interacting online?
A.Keep a watchful eye on the Internet interactions.
B.Decrease the application of artificial intelligence.
C.Protect personal privacy by limiting shared details
D.Try to identify the reliability of real human beings.

The Impact of Technology on Modern Education
Technology is developing fast these years and changing our lives a lot, especially in education. For
hundreds of years, traditional classroom settings have been the basic part of education.36
Firstly, the use of digital devices such as tablets and laptops in the classroom has made it easier for
第5页(共8页)
英语(人
students to access a vast amount of information instantly.37 Instead of relying solely on textbooks,
students can now explore a wide range of resources, including online articles and videos. This not only
enriches their knowledge but also helps them develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Moreover, online learning platforms have revolutionized the way students learn and interact with their
teachers and peers.38 Nowadays,students can attend virtual classes,submit assignments,and
receive feedback from their teachers at any time and from anywhere. This flexibility is particularly
beneficial to students who have busy schedules or live in remote areas,as it allows them to continue their
education without being physically present in a classroom.
39 One of the main concemns is the digital divide, which refers to the gap between those who
have access to digital technology and those who do not. Many students from low-income families may not
have access to computers or the Internet at home. This can result in unequal educational opportunities,as
students without access to the necessary technology may fall behind their peers.
Additionally, there is a risk that students may become overly dependent on technology, which could
affect their ability to think independently and solve problems without relying on digital tools.40
Teachers need to strike a balance between using technology to enhance learning and encouraging students to
develop their own cognitive abilities.
A.But now, digital tools and online platforms are changing them.
B.Students may also become distracted by the numerous digital devices.
C.Technology allows educators to meet the unique needs of each student.
D.Students can now access information from around the world in seconds.
E.However, the technology in education also comes with some challenges.
F.The traditional classroom is still the most effective way to teach students.
G.The convenience of online learning platforms has made education more accessible.

第三节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
It all started with the gift.A few months before I began college,my parents surprised me with the one
thing every young adult desires:a brand new laptop. That summer,I was glued to the screen, living in a
digital world.I spent hours on social media, chatting with friends, and ignoring the real ones around me.
I was more concerned about the virtual interactions than the actual people and places around me.Being
online was more important than anything else.
So,when I heard my dad's plan for our family vacation that year,I was less than thrilled."This
year,he announced,"we're going to try something different. We're going to a farm.
A farm wasn't my ideal vacation, but it was still a break from the routine.I went through the packing
up and planning, barely listening to the instructions. My mind was elsewhere,on the Internet, where my
conversations never stopped.I was so absorbed in my digital world that the first time I really paid attention
to the real world was when we got to our destination-a remote farm.
I stared out the window to see the breathtaking views outside. The air coming through the open
windows was warm and carried the fresh smell of the forest. But the view wasn't what caught my attention.
The moment I got out of the car,I rushed into the farmhouse. The real shock came when I tried to check
my email and found that I had no Internet connection.I was standing there with a long face when I heard
the laughter of three children. So,I went up to them and asked,"Is the Internet available here?"
"We have no Wi-Fi here,"a boy, named Ethan, said softly. And then he told me they were sons of
the farm owner.I looked at him,too depressed to say anything. My laptop would be completely useless.I
would live in the wilderness for a week with no way to connect to the online world.I was close to tears,
afraid of the boredom I had to tolerate in the coming days.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在相应位置作答。
Early the next morning,Ethan and his brothers came to invite me to hang out with them.
Surprisingly,I never thought of my laptop that week.
