介词“from”的用法指南

1. 表示起点：空间

表示“从……起，始于”，说明动作或事物的起始位置。

She began to walk away from him. 她开始从他身边走开。

Has the train from Bristol arrived? 从布里斯托尔开来的火车到了吗？

100 metres from the scene of the accident 离事故现场100米

You can see the island from here. 从这里可以看到那个岛。

 

2. 表示起点：时间

表示“从……开始”。

We’re open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day. 我们每天早8点到晚7点营业。

He was blind from birth. 他天生失明。

from now on 从现在起

from that day on 从那天起

 

3. 表示来源、出处

表示某人、某物来自哪里，或信息、物品等的来源。

I’m from Italy. 我来自意大利。

a letter from my brother 我哥哥的来信

information from witnesses 目击者提供的信息

heat from the sun 来自太阳的热量

quotations from Shakespeare 莎士比亚语录

 

4. 表示原材料

表示制成品的原料来源（注意与of的区别：from多指化学变化、看不出原材料；of多指物理变化、看得出原材料）。

Steel is made from iron. 钢是由铁炼成的。

 

5. 表示观察角度、立场

表示“从……（角度来看）”。

From a financial point of view the project was a disaster. 从经济角度看，这个项目是一场灾难。

From what I heard the company’s in deep trouble. 就我所听到的，这家公司已深陷困境。

 

6. 表示范围、变化幅度

常构成from ... to ... 结构，表示“从……到……”。

The temperature varies from 30 degrees to minus 20. 气温从30度到零下20度不等。

The store sells everything from shoelaces to computers. 这家店从鞋带到电脑什么都卖。

Conditions vary from school to school. 各学校情况不同。

 

7. 表示状态或形式的改变

Things have gone from bad to worse. 情况越来越糟。

You need a break from routine. 你需要从日常工作中解脱一下。

 

8. 表示分离、除去、消失

The party was ousted from power after eighteen years. 该党执政18年后被赶下台。

9. 表示阻止、保护

常与prevent, protect, stop, keep, save等动词连用，结构为from + doing。

She saved him from drowning. 她救了他，使他免于淹死。

prevent ... from doing  阻止……做某事

protect ... from doing  保护……免受……

stop ... from doing  阻止……做某事

keep ... from doing  阻止……做某事

 

10. 表示原因

表示由于某种原因而产生的结果，常与身体感受或状态有关。

She felt sick from tiredness. 她累得浑身不舒服。

suffer from ...  遭受……

result from ...  由……造成

 

11. 表示判断依据

表示“根据……来判断、从……来看”。

You can tell a lot about a person from their handwriting. 根据笔迹可以了解一个人很多。

12. 表示区别、差异

常与different, tell, distinguish等词连用。

Is Portuguese very different from Spanish? 葡萄牙语和西班牙语差别大吗？

I can’t tell one twin from the other. 我分不清这对双胞胎谁是谁。

13. 常用固定搭配

come from  来自 learn from  向……学习；从……中吸取教训

14. 特别提醒

         from是介词，后面接名词、代词、动名词（doing），不能接动词原形。

         表示“阻止/保护”时常用from + doing：prevent / stop / keep / protect / save + sb/sth + from + doing

         from ... to ... 结构用途广泛，可表示时间、空间、范围、数量、状态变化等。

         from now on / from then on中on是副词，表示“从……起一直持续”。

         date back to / date from两者均可表示“追溯到”，但date from常用一般现在时，date back to也常用一般现在时，且常与时间点连用。

 

“through”的用法指南

一、介词through的用法

1. 穿过；贯穿（从一端到另一端）

表示从物体、空间或人群内部穿过。

The burglar got in through the window. 盗贼从窗户进来。

The bullet went straight through him. 子弹从他身上穿过。

The path led through the trees to the river. 小路穿过树林通向河边。

The doctor pushed his way through the crowd. 医生挤过人群。

The Charles River flows through Boston. 查尔斯河流经波士顿。

 

2. 透过……看/听（隔着某物）

I couldn’t hear their conversation through the wall. 我隔墙听不到他们说话。

He could just make out three people through the mist. 透过薄雾他勉强看出三个人。
