Many teenagers have trouble dealing with stress in daily life. Some people believe that stress is completely bad for young people. But in fact, not all stress is harmful. We should learn to tell different kinds of stress apart.
Bad stress usually comes from too much pressure. When students face endless homework, high expectations from parents and heavy exam worries, they may feel worried all the time. This kind of stress can influence sleep and health. It may make teenagers lose confidence and feel down. If bad stress lasts for a long time, it will do great harm to both body and mind.
However, there is also good stress. Good stress appears when we meet challenges. For example, before a speech or an important competition, you may feel a little nervous. This nervous feeling pushes you to prepare harder. It helps you become more active and try your best. It can make you grow and improve yourself.
So what should we do when we meet stress? First, do not be afraid of it. Try to find out where your stress comes from. If it is bad stress, you can talk with your parents, teachers or friends. You can also take exercise or develop hobbies to relax yourself. If it is good stress, just accept it and make use of it.
Life is full of challenges. Stress is a common part of growth. Instead of running away from stress, we should learn to face it in a wise way.
29. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. All stress is bad for teenagers.
B. Teenagers should stay away from all stress.

C. Power to work harder and make progress. D. Feelings of sadness all day long.

When we are at an early age, we do not exactly know who we are and what kind of person we want to be. For most people, they cannot fully understand this world and set up a lifelong goal (目标) at a young age. However, knowing what you want could quicken the pace (步伐) to understand yourself and pin down the direction of your development. How to find your potential (潜力) is a serious question. The earlier you know, the better it will help you in your later life. If you are uncertain about yourself, keep reading and refer to the tips below.
Firstly, try to know yourself from your most intimate relationships. They can be your family members, relatives, and they can also be your close friends. Since birth, we are influenced by our families. We take after our parents and they are our first teachers. So why not talk to them and let them give you some advice? If you are still not sure about what you are meant to do, reach out to some of your mentors for advice.
Secondly, explore yourself in the social settings. Your goals could be influenced by your social connections. You can join some Students Unions or clubs to find where your interests lie. While you interact with others who share similar interests, you will get to know more about yourself and have a clearer idea what you want to do in the future.
Thirdly, read more books. Books allow you to learn about other peoples’ lives. When you learn about others’ experiences, your horizon (视野) will be broadened, and in turn you will know more about yourself as a person. So, why not read more?
As a matter of fact, there are many ways to find yourself. The key is you have to take action. Knowing yourself is essential for preparing for your direction in advance.

Recently, I asked a seeing friend who had just walked in the woods what she had noticed. “Nothing special”she replied.
How was it possible, I asked myself, to walk through the woods and see nothing worthy of note? I who cannot see find hundreds of things to interest me only through touch. If I can get so much pleasure from touch, how much more beauty must be found by sight (视力)? And I have imagined what I should most like to see if I were given the use of my eyes for just three days.
On the first day, I should want to see the people who have made my life worth living and the books which have been read to me. In the afternoon, I should take a walk in the woods and admire the beauties of nature. That night, I should not be able to sleep.
On my second day, I should go to the museums to see man’s progress. I should try to explore the spirit of man through his art. In the evening, I should spend at the movies.
The following day, I should spend in the world of common people going about the business of life. At midnight, permanent night would close in on me again, and I should realize how much I had left unseen.
I who am blind can give one suggestion to those who see: Use your eyes as if tomorrow you would be blind. The same is true of other senses. Hear the songs of birds, as if you would be deaf tomorrow. Smell the flowers, as if tomorrow you could never smell again... But of all the senses, I’m sure that sight must be the most pleasant.

Some people believe that self‑reflection(自我反思)is a good habit for teenagers. What exactly is self‑reflection? It means slowing down and thinking honestly about your own behaviour, feelings and decisions after something has happened.
Many teenagers are too busy with schoolwork. They spend most of their time doing homework or taking part‑time after‑school classes. They seldom stop to look back on what they have done. They just keep moving forward without thinking. However, self‑reflection plays an important role in our growth.
When you reflect, you can see your weak points clearly. For example, you may find that you often lose your temper when you are under great pressure. Then you can try to find ways to control your moods. Besides, self‑reflection also helps you know your advantages. You may realize you are good at organizing group activities. This will build up your confidence.
You do not need a long time for self‑reflection. You can spend five to ten minutes every night before going to bed. You may ask yourself these simple questions:What did I do well today? What mistake did I make? What should I improve tomorrow?
Self‑reflection will not bring quick changes to you. But if you keep doing it every day, little‑by‑little you will make great progress.
66. What does self‑reflection mean?
