Passage 1
(25-26九年级上·山东日照·期中)One evening, I went to the supermarket to buy some groceries (日用品). As I entered through the glass doors, I immediately sensed that something unusual was happening near the cash register (收银台). My curiosity led me to take a closer look.
There, I saw a cashier taking some items out of a customer’s shopping bag. The customer was an elderly woman who looked very sad and worried.
It turned out that the cashier was removing items to lower the total cost. This touched my heart, and I felt a strong urge to help.
I quickly walked over to the cash register. Without saying a word, I pointed to the items the cashier was about to set aside. Then I pointed to my own shopping bag to show that I would pay for them. The cashier nodded and put the items back into the elderly woman’s bag.
The cashier then tried to help the woman with her card again, but it still didn’t work. Seeing the total amount on the screen, I quietly took out some cash from my wallet and handed it to the cashier. I wanted to help without drawing attention to myself, so I quickly walked away after paying.
The elderly woman was too worried about her card to notice me. When the cashier told her that she didn’t have to pay anything, she looked confused.
As I left the supermarket, I felt a warm sense of pride. I hoped that my small act of kindness brought some comfort and happiness to the elderly woman, reminding her that there are still people who care.

Passage 2
(25-26九年级上·山东德州·期中)The sun hung low, brushing gold over the empty area. The air buzzed (喧闹)—not with insects, but with voices, cameras, and the weight of something about to begin.
Roy’s heart beat like a drum. He looked out at the people gathering for the pancake house ground-breaking ceremony (仪式). Behind him stood the company men and the reporters. And under his feet—hidden underground—were the tiny burrows (洞穴) of the owls.
No sign marked them. No fence protected them. They asked nothing, made no sound, yet now heavy machines waited, ready to destroy (破坏) their living area.
He thought of Mullet Fingers, the wild boy who cared about animals more than himself. He thought of brave Beatrice who helped even when it was hard. Roy had tried to stay out of trouble. He liked quiet. But now, staying quiet didn’t feel right.
He stepped up to the microphone (话筒).
“Excuse me,” he said, voice shaking. “Before you dig... you should know the truth.”
The crowd grew quiet.
“There are owls living here,” Roy said. “They’re small. They’re scared. And if you build here, you’ll destroy their homes.”
Someone in the crowd laughed. A reporter asked, “How do you know that?”
“Because I saw them. I stood right there and watched them. They live here. They belong here. And they matter.”
The manager stepped forward, “This is not your business, kid.”
Roy turned to face him. His fear turned into something else—strength.
“It’s my business. It’s everyone’s business. We can’t just destroy what we don’t see. Progress should not come at the cost of wonder,” he said.
His hands stopped shaking. People in the crowd began whispering. One mother held her child’s hand. A teacher nodded. Even the manager looked uncertain.
Roy didn’t know what would happen next. But he did what he could. He spoke the truth.
Roy used to be scared. But doing the right thing made him stronger.
Sometimes, doing what you can is enough to shift(改变)the wind.
5.Who did Roy think of before stepping up to the microphone?
A.His teacher. B.Mullet Fingers and Beatrice.
C.The manager. D.The newspaper reporters.
6.How did Roy feel when he first stepped up to the microphone?

Passage 1
(25-26九年级上·山东烟台·期中)The greatest scientists were famous not only for their discoveries, but also for their interesting lives. Having a special, uncommon mind often goes hand in hand with unusual acts.
Nikola Tesla is known for many inventions. One is the alternating current (AC) electricity. While inventing it, Tesla was good at keeping things in mind, because he used picture thinking and imagined every step in his mind before even picking up a pencil. Tesla said he wanted to do it because of his mother, who invented small electrical machines when he was a child.
In his later years, Tesla had many strange habits. He slept only two hours every night and dined at exactly 8:10 p. m. After dinner, he’d often work until 3 a. m. Before bed, Tesla curled (卷曲) each foot 100 times, saying it was good for his brain.
Another scientist encouraged by his mother was Albert Einstein, though what he got from his mother was a love of music. In fact, Einstein often played music on the piano and the violin to help him brainstorm.
Einstein’s achievements include the most famous equation (方程式) E=mc2 and his theory of relativity. However, thanks to his wild hair, he was also well-known for the looks of a "mad scientist" and you can tell that he had some interesting quirks (个性). For example, he had a strong dislike of wearing socks. And Einstein was so withdrawn (内向的) as a boy that he couldn’t speak until he was three.
Sometimes, the smartest of us are also the strangest. That quiet child in the corner may be the next Tesla or Einstein one day.
18.How did Tesla remember things?
A.By drawing mind-maps. B.By reading aloud.

19.What can we learn from the passage?
A.Tesla hated having to wear socks.
B.Tesla did some foot exercises before bed.
C.Einstein was outgoing when he was a child.
D.Einstein was also famous for his hair color.
20.What did Tesla and Einstein have in common?
A.They both thought and acted in unusual ways.
B.They both had great inventions of the electricity.
C.They both played the piano well for better working.
D.They both took up inventing because of their mothers.
21.What does the writer mainly want to tell us about?
A.The inventions of great people in the world.

Passage 1
(25-26九年级上·山东济宁·期中)Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve loved reading crime and detective (侦探) novels, so I guess it was pretty normal that I started writing them when I was older. However, my family is very big on having a traditional job and so when I said that I wanted to go to college and study writing, my parents told me that I couldn’t. They told me that I had to study for a degree (学位) to get a job that is not as risky as writing. I could study journalism (新闻专业), but I didn’t want to lose interest in writing because it would be everyday work, not for fun. I thought that teaching was a pretty good compromise (妥协), especially because of the long holidays. By the time I was twenty-five, I’d already finished two novels and had an agent.
To be honest, I never wanted to hide that I was a crime writer. My friends have always known. One reason most people don’t know is that my agent told me that my name “Hazel” sounded like a romance (浪漫) writer for older women. She suggested “Brooke Lane” as my pen name and I agreed. I nearly forgot about it until I walked into school one day and saw one of my workmates reading my novel. I asked her some questions about it, and she didn’t know that I wrote it; she even offered to lend it to me after she finished! Of course, sometimes I wonder what my students will think if they know that their teacher writes about murders and dead bodies at home on weekends. But I think my parents probably helped me: my teaching job keeps me in touch with the real world.
27.The underlined phrase “is very big on” in the passage probably means ________.
A.is very interested in B.doesn’t care much about
C.knows nothing about D.is not happy with
28.Why did Hazel choose to be a teacher?
A.She was interested in teaching students. B.It was a compromise with her parents.
C.Her agent advised her to take the job. D.She couldn’t find a job as a writer.
29.How did the writer feel when her workmate read her novel?
A.Angry. B.Surprised. C.Sad. D.Bored.
30.What does Hazel want to tell us through her experience?
A.It’s dangerous to be a crime writer.
B.We should follow our parents’ advice.
C.We can find a balance between dreams and real world.
D.Teaching is the best job for writers.
【答案】27.A 28.B 29.B 30.C

Passage 1
(25-26九年级上·山东菏泽·期中)Ever since I was a little child, I have always liked learning words and expressions in other languages. When I was nine, I started studying English at school, and I loved it. I learned a lot about English words and grammar at school, and when I turned sixteen, I attended a program in Canada. I lived with a Canadian family for a whole year, and it was one of the best times of my life. Since it is also an official language in Canada, I started studying French during my stay. I studied hard, and it paid off. French is a beautiful language.
After I returned to Brazil, I started studying Spanish. I think it is important for Brazilians to learn this language because, here in South America, most countries’ official language is Spanish. I loved learning this language, and thanks to that, I now have friends from Uruguay, Peru, and Argentina. Keeping in touch with these friends is a great way to practice the language.
I am also learning Chinese and German. These languages are a bit more difficult for me, but being able to say even a few expressions of these languages is rewarding.
Some people ask me why I spend so much time learning foreign languages. I always say there are many benefits. For instance, learning a foreign language improves your memory, introduces you to all kinds of information, helps you to communicate with people from different places and cultures and to make wonderful friends, provides you with insight into another way of thinking, makes you a more interesting person, and improves your chances of finding a good job.
So, if you haven’t started studying a foreign language yet, my advice is: don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today!

However, because he didn’t dare to speak out his mind, he chose to agree with them. But he knew that always going against his own will to agree with others made him feel very uncomfortable. So he took up the courage to tell his mom about this.
“I just can’t tell people what I really think or want. It’s too difficult for me.” said William.
“You can’t or you don’t want to?” Mom asked patiently.
“You are right. I guess I don’t want to. I’m afraid to be different,” answered William.

Many scientists achieved success because they found things unexpectedly while doing experiments. Mistakes can also lead to great discoveries. We all make mistakes, and it’s part of learning.” She turned to Bill and smiled kindly, “Bill, if an adult’s heart is much larger than his or her fist, he or she may be ill. Don’t let anyone make you feel bad for making a mistake. That’s how we improve ourselves and learn.”
