Ryan and Ahmed sat on their bicycles at the start of the cyclocross course (公路越野赛赛道). Ahmed had been competing in cyclocross for three years, but this was Ryan’s first race. He wished he could remember everything Ahmed had taught him.
Ryan reviewed the last six months in his mind. From the moment Ahmed first asked whether he would like to try the sport, Ryan was excited. Ahmed helped Ryan find safety gear (装备).
He also explained the importance of practising and set up a plan for the two friends to practise together. Practising was hard. Ryan soon grew bored with working on the same skills over and over. He was ready to race! Ryan ended up missing many of the practices. When Ryan did go to practices, he spent more time doing tricks (特技) with his bike than he did listening to Ahmed’s tips.
“Now the real fun begins,” Ryan thought as he sat at the starting line. “You need to get serious,” Ahmed warned. “Cyclocross can be dangerous.” Bang! The starting gun went off. The boys rushed off the starting line. Ryan saw the first obstacle (障碍) ahead. It was a series of small hurdles.
“Here I go!” Ryan shouted when he reached the hurdles. He jumped off his bike and landed hard on his foot. Next, he had to get his bike onto his shoulder. Ryan could not remember what Ahmed said about shouldering the bike. He tried to pick it up by the wheels but dropped it. Finally, he got his bike off the ground. As he ran, he tried to balance the bike on his shoulder. The bike was heavy, and his foot hurt. Before he knew it, he was lying face-down on the ground.
“Are you okay?” Ryan heard his friend ask. Ahmed reached down to help Ryan. Ryan was thankful that Ahmed cared more about him than about the race. He caught Ahmed’s hand and stood.
“Ouch!” Ryan cried. It hurt to put weight on his foot. “You were right, Ahmed. Cyclocross is about more than strength and speed. Can we spend a few more months training together? I want to finish my next cyclocross race!”
26. What’s the main purpose of Paragraph 3?
A. To show Ryan’s efforts in practising cyclocross.
B. To provide more information about cyclocross.
C. To leave signs of why Ryan failed in the race.
D. To introduce the safety rules of the cyclocross race.
27. What is the correct order of the following events?

② Ahmed helped Ryan find safety gear six months ago.
③ Ryan lay face-down on the ground in pain.
④ Ryan spent time doing tricks instead of listening to tips.
A. ②-④-①-③ B. ②-①-④-③ C. ④-②-①-③ D. ④-①-②-③
28. Which of the following best describes Ahmed?
A. Brave and friendly. B. Organized and helpful.
C. Confident and humorous. D. Curious and hard-working.
29. What can we infer from the underlined sentence “You were right, Ahmed”?
A. Ryan no longer wanted to take part in cyclocross races.
B. Ryan believed he could win the race if he tried again at once.
C. Ryan thought Ahmed should not have warned him before the race.
D. Ryan realized his mistake and understood the importance of practice.
30. What may happen next according to the text?
A. Ryan will end his friendship with Ahmed.
B. Ryan will become serious and train harder.
C. Ryan will miss more of the cyclocross practices.

AI toys have great potential for some but also bring personal dangers to others. Imagine a lovely cat doll that talks with you and shows active facial expressions, or a small robot with a thin arm that is ready to play Go, Chinese chess or Gomoku.
These creative toys all use artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, and such “smart friends” are quickly becoming popular around the world.
According to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, China’s AI toy market is expected to be worth 29 billion yuan this year. Western brands like Mattel and OpenAI are also expected to make AI products for kids.
Experts and business leaders said that AI toys use high technologies to build emotional links with people. This means they will be the next big thing people want to buy.
Besides giving emotional support, AI toys may also change the way children grow up. The Economist said that they can let every child have experiences that were once only for rich families, such as having private teachers, personal study plans.
Are there risks? The answer is yes. AI may lead children to harm themselves. For example, “Kumma” bear is an AI toy from a Singapore-based company. A test showed that it could tell kids where to find knives and how to light a match.
Also, AI toys may store personal information, warned Azhelle Wade, founder of The Toy Coach, a consulting company. “To me, AI toys are like a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Because when you use them, it’s hard to know how much privacy you lose,” she said.
AI may also make people see only content they agree with. People never have to question their ideas or think about different views. AI friends never criticize or share their own feelings. It may leave kids unprepared to deal with real human beings.
Because of this, some basic steps are needed. These steps may include stricter age limits on chatbots and tighter rules for AI companies. At the same time, parents should think carefully before letting their children use a machine.
31. How does the author introduce the topic of the text?
A. By describing examples of AI toys.
B. By presenting market data about AI toys.
C. By quoting experts’ opinions on AI trends.
D. By comparing different kinds of AI toys.
32. What is one of the benefits AI toys can bring to kids?
A. They teach kids to be independent.
B. They offer personalized education.
C. They make children think more actively.
D. They help kids express their feelings better.
33. Why did Azhelle Wade say AI toys are “a wolf in sheep’s clothing”?
A. They usually give users what they like.
B. They may trick children into buying them.
C. They seem educational but are just for fun.
D. They appear friendly but actually threaten privacy.
34. What can we learn from the passage?
A. Do more testing before selling them.
B. Parents should think twice before letting kids use AI toys.
C. AI toys can help kids think about different views.
D. There are no rules for AI toy companies now.
35. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. AI toys are very popular around the world now.
B. AI toys can bring kids experiences only for rich families.
C. AI toys have good points but also bring some risks.
D. We must make rules to stop kids from using AI toys.

① Ryan landed hard on his foot after jumping off the bike.
D. Ryan will certainly win the next cyclocross race.
【答案】26. C 27. A 28. B 29. D 30. B

【导语】本文是一篇记叙文,讲述了Ryan首次参加公路越野赛因准备不足受伤,在朋友Ahmed帮助下意识到训练重要性的故事。
【26题详解】
根据第三段“Ryan soon grew bored with working on the same skills over and over...Ryan ended up missing many of the practices... he spent more time doing tricks with his bike than he did listening to Ahmed’s tips”可知,该段描述了Ryan练习时的敷衍态度(厌倦重复练习、缺席训练、不听建议),这些内容为他后续比赛失败埋下伏笔。
【27题详解】
根据第二段“Ahmed helped Ryan find safety gear”可知事件②发生在六个月前;根据第三段“he spent more time doing tricks...than listening to Ahmed’s tips”可知事件④在练习阶段;根据第五段“He jumped off his bike and landed hard on his foot”可知事件①发生在比赛跨障碍时;根据第五段“he was lying face-down on the ground”可知事件③在①之后。因此顺序为②-④-①-③。
【28题详解】
根据第二段“Ahmed helped Ryan find safety gear”、第三段“set up a plan for the two friends to practise together”以及第六段“Ahmed reached down to help Ryan”可知,Ahmed既帮助Ryan准备装备、制定训练计划(体现organized有条理),又在比赛中关心Ryan(体现helpful乐于助人)。“Organized and helpful”符合对Ahmed的描述。
【29题详解】
根据第三段Ryan忽视练习、不听建议,以及比赛中因不熟练技巧而摔倒的情节,结合划线句后Ryan说“Cyclocross is about more than strength and speed. Can we spend a few more months training together”可知,Ryan意识到自己之前轻视练习的错误,理解了练习的重要性。
【30题详解】
根据最后一段Ryan主动提出“Can we spend a few more months training together? I want to finish my next cyclocross race”可知,他会认真对待后续训练。选项“Ryan will become serious and train harder”符合推测。

【答案】31. A 32. B 33. D 34. B 35. C
