When our Green Club began a tree-planting project, I imagined taking a photo beside a tall young tree. On the first day, however, Mr. Lin handed me a notebook instead of a tree.
“Before planting, we need to know the place,” he said. We checked the soil and watched how sunlight moved across the school garden. One corner was dry, while another often held rainwater. A gardener helped us choose suitable plants for each place.
After planting, we made a care plan. Two students checked the young trees each day. We wrote down the weather and how wet the soil was. We watered only when the trees needed it. Mr. Lin reminded us that too much water could also cause problems.
During a hot week, several leaves turned yellow. I wanted to add more water at once. My partner suggested asking the gardener first. She found that some roots(根)had too little air because the soil was too wet. We followed her advice, and the trees slowly became healthier.
Three months later, most of our trees were growing well. I finally took my photo, but this time the notebook was in my hand. Planting was only the beginning. Careful observation(观察)and long-term care made the real difference.
51. What did Mr. Lin give the writer on the first day?
A. A camera. B. A tall tree.
C. A watering can. D. A notebook.
52. Why did the group check the garden before planting?
A. To find a place for a new shop. B. To decide where to take the best photo.
C. To remove all the wet soil. D. To choose plants suitable for different places.
53. When did students water the trees?
A. When the trees needed water. B. Only when visitors came.
C. At the same time every hour. D. Whenever anyone passed by.
54. What caused some leaves to turn yellow?
A. The notebook was missing. B. The students never watered the trees.
C. The soil was too wet for the roots. D. The trees received no sunlight at all.
55. What has the writer learned?
A. Choosing plants is a waste of time.
B. Every sick tree needs more water.
C. A photo is the most important result.
D. Planting trees requires continued and careful care.
C
Students in Class Three wanted to reduce food waste. For five school days, they weighed the food left on their lunch trays(餐盘). The total was eighteen kilograms. They interviewed classmates before making a plan.
Some students said the servings(份量)were too large. Others took food they did not really want because they could not see it clearly from the line. The class shared these findings with the dining hall workers.
The workers offered two serving sizes. Students could ask for more after finishing the first serving. They also put a picture of each meal beside its name. The class made a friendly sign: “Take what you need. Come back if you are still hungry.”
After two weeks, the class measured leftovers again for five days. The total dropped to eleven kilograms. The number of students eating school lunch was the same in both weeks.
The students were pleased, but their teacher asked them to be careful with their conclusion. The meals were not exactly the same each week, and the project involved only one class. The results suggested the changes were helpful, but more information was needed. Next month, the class plans to repeat the study and invite another class to join.
56. What did the class do before making its plan?
A. Bought larger trays for all students.
B. Told everyone to stop eating lunch.
C. Closed the dining hall for five days.
D. Measured leftovers and interviewed classmates.
57. Why were pictures of the meals added?
A. To replace the names of all meals.
B. To decorate students' notebooks.
C. To help students see what they were choosing.
D. To make every serving larger.
58. How much less food was left in the second measurement?
A. Eighteen kilograms. B. Twenty-nine kilograms.
C. Seven kilograms. D. Eleven kilograms.
59. What stayed the same in the two measurement weeks?
A. The amount of leftovers. B. The serving sizes offered.
C. Every dish on the menu. D. The number of students eating school lunch.
60. What is a reasonable conclusion from the project?
A. Pictures alone always stop food waste.
B. All students prefer the smallest serving.
C. The changes may help, but further study is needed.
D. Food waste has disappeared from every school.
D
At a school meeting, someone suggested buying a new “green” bag for every student. Mei raised her hand. “We already have bags at home. Could we use those first?” Her question started a different discussion.
Many useful things become waste long before they wear out. A bottle may be used once, or a notebook may be thrown away with blank pages inside. Buying another item does not always solve the problem, even when it has a green label.
The class decided to follow three steps. First, ask whether a new item is really needed. This is reducing. Second, keep using a safe, usable item or find another purpose for it. This is reusing. Third, when it cannot be used again, sort it correctly so that suitable materials can be recycled into new products.
These steps do not mean keeping everything forever. A damaged electrical product should not become a home repair project for children. Students should ask an adult about safe ways to deal with it. Clean and useful clothes, however, may help another family.
At the end of the meeting, nobody ordered new bags. Students brought bags from home and decorated them. Mei was happy. Being green was not a competition to own new things. It began with thinking carefully about the things already around us.
61. What did Mei suggest at the meeting?
A. Throwing all old bags away. B. Using bags the students already had.
C. Ordering more new green bags. D. Giving up shopping forever.
62. Which action is an example of reducing?
A. Giving an old coat to another family.
B. Turning waste paper into new paper.
C. Using an old bottle as a flower vase.
D. Not buying a notebook when one is still usable.
63. What should children do with a damaged electrical product?
A. Ask an adult about a safe way to deal with it. B. Repair it alone after school.
C. Take it apart during class. D. Put it beside their bed and use it.
64. What does the underlined phrase “wear out” mean here?
A. Become cheaper in a shop. B. Become more colorful.
C. Become easier to carry. D. Become unusable through use.
65. Which title best expresses the main idea?
A. How to Decorate Every Classroom B. The Most Expensive School Bags
C. A Competition for New Products D. Think Before Buying and Throwing Away

80. They have planted trees here since last spring.
解析:since last spring引出过去起点,用have planted描述以来的植树活动。
Ⅶ. 短文填空(每小题1分)
81. since。空后是过去时间点last September,since引出起点。
82. buying。instead of为介词短语,后接动名词buying。
83. been。have been in表示一直在某组织中,been是be的过去分词。
84. carefully。修饰动词check,用副词carefully。
85. found。Last week为过去时间,用find的过去式found。
86. us。taught为动词,后用宾格us。
87. useful / usable。与safe并列作表语,参考useful;usable表示可用的,同样符合语境,应接受。
88. fewer。修饰可数复数bags,结合than用比较级fewer。
89. actions。后面的are限定主语为复数,故用actions。
90. of。be proud of为固定搭配,意为为……感到自豪。
Ⅷ. 书面表达(15分)
91. 参考范文(开头已给出)
How to Be a Greener Student
We can do many things to be greener students.
First, we should turn off the lights when we leave the classroom and save water when washing our hands. Second, we can bring our own shopping bags and use both sides of the paper. These actions help reduce waste. Third, walking, riding a bike or taking a bus can reduce pollution. I have ridden a bike to school for two years. It is good for the environment and keeps me active. I feel proud of this habit and will keep it.
写作思路:按节约资源、减少垃圾、绿色出行展开;说明行动作用。个人习惯写明持续多久,可用现在完成时加for或since。

Hello, everyone. Green School Week starts on Monday. Please work in groups of six. Our first task is to collect waste paper from classrooms. Put it in the boxes outside the library. Keep the paper dry. Each group should also design a poster about the three Rs. On Friday afternoon, we will share our ideas in the school hall. Remember, small actions can make a difference.
