Albert Einstein and Wolfgang Mozart are possibly the two most famous examples of people who are geniuses. But unlike Mozart, Einstein wasn’t very talented as a kid. Born in Germany in 1879, he was slow to learn to speak, and he was a normal student at school. He was interested in maths and science, but he liked to study at home better. Later, he studied to be a teacher, but he didn’t find a job in a school and for some years he was an office worker. A lot of Einstein’s most famous ideas were the result of study in his free time, when he also played the violin to relax.
From 1908, he was a university teacher for many years, first in Europe and then in the USA.He was the winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1921. He was famous for his theory of relativity, but only several scientists could understand it. His biggest dream was to find one explanation for the basic ideas in physics, but he died before this was possible.
As a famous scientist, Einstein got letters from people around the world. Some of the letters were from children and he always answered them. One letter was from a girl with maths problems at school. “Do not worry about your difficulties in maths” was his answer. “I can tell you that mine are still greater.”

Yang Zhenning, a great physicist, passed away on October 18, 2025, in Beijing at 103. He was born in Anhui in 1922. As a child, he loved science. He studied at Southwest Associated University, a famous school that trained many good students during hard times. Later, he studied in the US at the University of Chicago.
In 1957, Yang and his friend Li Zhengdao won the Nobel Prize in Physics. They did important work on the “parity non-conservation” theory This changed how scientists understand the universe. Also, Yang’s “Yang-Mills Gauge Theory” (杨米尔斯理论) is a very important part of modern physics, just like Einstein’s theory of relativity (相对论).
Though he lived in the US for many years, Yang always loved China. In 1971, he was the first Chinese scholar to visit China after a long time, helping China and the US have academic (学术的) talks again. He advised the Chinese government to improve basic science research and helped nearly 100 Chinese students study in the US. At the age of 77, he came back to work at Tsinghua University, training young scientists and helping physics develop in China.

What makes a person from a small European country fall so deeply in love with Chinese culture? For Krasznahorkai, a famous Hungarian writer, the answer began with a trip in 1991.
Back then, he traveled to China as a reporter. He was so moved by what he saw. After he returned home, he didn’t just keep China in his memory—he brought Chinese culture into his daily life. He asked his whole family to eat with chopsticks. When they went out to eat, he always chose Chinese food. At home, he often listened to Beijing opera. Wherever he went, he collected books about China and followed news about China. He also often mentioned China in conversations.
His love grew even stronger over time. He became crazy about ancient Chinese culture. He read Laozi’s Tao Te Ching and fell in love with the poet Li Bai of the Tang Dynasty. He loves Li Bai for his courage and free spirit. To feel closer to him, Krasznahorkai took a long journey across China, following the very places Li Bai had once traveled to. He even gave himself a Chinese name, “Haoqiu”, which means “beautiful hill”. That name shows his respect for Confucius.
He has published many novels since his first novel came out in 1977. On October 9, 2025, he won the Nobel Prize in Literature.
In a 2017 interview, he thanked Chinese readers who love Hungarian books. His love for Chinese culture has truly brought the two literary worlds together. His story teaches us: When you truly love something, it becomes a part of who you are.

all所有的;whole整个的;every每一个;each每个。根据空前的冠词“the”和空后的单数名词“book in one sitting”可知,此处表示“整本书”,whole常置于冠词之后,名词之前,构成“the whole + 单数名词”结构,而all通常用于“all the +名词”,every和each不与the连用。故选B。
5.C

caused导致;find发现;brought带来;invention发明;led to导致,促成;discovery发现;made制造;creation创造。

“dream of doing sth.”
and并且;but但是;if如果。根据“didn’t have much money”与“never gave up”可知,前后存在转折关系。
根据“There were no modern houses, clean drinking water or enough food”可知,说明生活条件艰苦,充满挑战。

根据“Her story teaches us courage and love”可知,她的精神遗产激励后人。“spirit lives on”为常用搭配。memory和courage不如spirit涵盖面广。
