Step 1 Work on Assessment

1.Greet the class and have a quick game to review words and grammar.

2.Ask students to finish the assessment exercises on pages 130-131.

3.Organize students to work in pairs to retell one story about a person who never gives up,using suitable time conjunctions.Partners can ask follow⁃up questions about the challenge and result.

4.Guide students to complete the self⁃assessment form according to the four “What I can do” statements,and then write what they are good at,what needs improvement and an action plan.

Step 2 Work on Further study

1.Introduce How the Steel Was Tempered and the textbook description of Paul.

2.Divide students into groups.Ask each group to choose another book that shows the spirit of never giving up and collect brief information about the main character,challenge and lesson.

3.Invite groups to share their chosen books.Guide students to compare how literature and real⁃life stories can both help people understand courage,strong will and perseverance.

Step 3 Summary

　　Summarize the whole unit and encourage students to keep the spirit of never giving up in daily life.

　　本课时通过知识检测、人物复述、自我评价和拓展阅读,对本单元的主题与语言目标进行整体回顾。学生能够说出多个榜样人物并使用部分时间连词,但在长叙事中保持时间关系清晰、用事实解释人物品质方面仍有提升空间。后续可结合更多短篇人物故事进行“时间线+证据句”训练,并把自评结果落实为具体改进行动。
