We have seen many people from around the world express their love for Chinese culture in different forms. A growing number of foreigners have even chosen to live in China for its culture. Interested in Chinese classical literature, Canadian artist Brandon Collins-Green or Lin Buran in Chinese expresses his understanding of A Dream of the Red Chamber by Cao Xueqin and Chinese poems through thousands of paintings. Often painting throughout the night, he has created more than 4,200 works. Living alone in the center of Nanchang, he has come a long way since he first came here in 2015 to study ancient Chinese literature. Brandon loves learning about the lifestyle of ancient Chinese people. “So far, I have read the novel three times, translated most of its poems, songs, lantern riddles, and dialogues into English, and completed over 1 million words of articles and 2,000 related paintings during my PhD studies,” said Brandon with pride and satisfaction. Timur Kuvatov, director-general and editor-in-chief of the Kazakhstan Today News Agency, is a Chinese kung fu fan. It was built under the orders of the Yongle Emperor of the Ming Dynasty between 1406 and 1420. The Forbidden City is enormous. It covers an area of 725,000 square meters. There are over 90 different palaces with courtyards. Twenty-four Chinese emperors lived here for about 500 years. The Forbidden City was designed using ancient Chinese symbolism. For example, the buildings all face away from the north. That’s because the north stood for the enemies of the Chinese. The roof of the library is black. Black stood for water. The roof was painted this color in hopes that it would protect the books from fire. The main buildings of the Forbidden City were all built in a straight line from north to south. The southern part of the palace is called the outer court. It was here that the emperor held official ceremonies. To the north is the inner court, where the emperor and his family lived. Each side of the palace has a gate. The main gate is the south-facing Meridian Gate. The Forbidden City also served as a fortress (堡垒) to protect the emperor and his family. It is surrounded by a 10-meter-high wall and a 52-meter-wide moat (护城河). Each corner of the palace has a tall guard tower where guards used to keep watch on enemies. In 1987, the Forbidden City was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Today, the Forbidden City is also known as the Palace Museum. It houses thousands of ancient Chinese artifacts. It attracts millions of visitors, serving as a window for the world to understand Chinese history and culture. 1.What does the underlined word “enormous” mean? B.To advertise the Forbidden City as a modern tourist attraction. C.To introduce the historical and cultural significance of the Forbidden City. 根据文章“It covers an area of 725,000 square meters. There are over 90 different palaces with courtyards.” 3.根据文章“The southern part of the palace is called the outer court. It was here that the emperor held official ceremonies.” Passage 3 (24-25九年级上·贵州安顺·期中)The oil paper umbrella is a traditional Chinese handicraft. It has a history of over 1,000 years in China. In the early Tang Dynasty, it was introduced to Japan and Korea, so it was called the “Tang Umbrella”. Later, oil paper umbrellas were spread to other Asian countries, such as Vietnam, Thailand and Laos, and each had its own style. However, as steel-ribbed umbrellas appeared in the last century, the hand-made oil paper umbrellas became less used in daily life. They were turned into decorative artifacts (装饰手工制品). Yuhang in Hangzhou has been known for making oil paper umbrellas for more than 230 years. They are mainly made of skin paper, bamboo and a coating of tung oil (桐油). They need to take even more than 70 steps to make, including making bamboo ribs, pasting papers and painting patterns. It takes at least a week to make an umbrella. In 2008, these umbrellas were added to the Intangible Cultural Heritage List (非物质文化遗产名录) of China. A young man called Liu Weixue learned the traditional art of making Yuhang oil paper umbrellas from his grandfather. “I want to bring the art to life,” Liu said. He improved the umbrellas to win the hearts of young people. As the traditional paper was easy to break, he started to use a kind of thicker paper. In a test, his umbrellas were opened and closed 1,000 times without breaking. He used a kind of lighter bamboo to make the umbrellas. Now Liu hopes the art can be passed on. He goes to local schools to teach students. He also goes to events in different places to promote (推广) the art. 1.What does the underlined word “They” in Paragraph 1 refer to? A.Hand-made oil paper umbrellas. B.Silk umbrellas. C.Steel-ribbed umbrellas. 2.Yuhang oil paper umbrellas are made of ________. A.paper, steel ribs and bamboo skin B.pasting papers, bamboo ribs and painting patterns C.skin paper, bamboo and a coating of tung oil 3.What can we learn from the passage? A.The oil paper umbrellas are popular around the world. B.It is easy to make a Yuhang oil paper umbrella. C.The oil paper umbrellas made by Liu are lighter. 4.The writer writes the text to ________. A.tell us the story of Liu Weixue B.teach us how to make oil paper umbrellas C.introduce oil paper umbrellas to us 【答案】1.A 2.C 3.C 4.C 【知识点】中华文化、说明文、传统工艺 【导语】本文主要介绍了中国传统手工艺品油纸伞的历史和制作工艺。 【详解】1.词句猜测题。根据“However, as steel-ribbed umbrellas appeared in the last century, the hand-made oil paper umbrellas became less used in daily life. They were turned into decorative artifacts (装饰手工制品).”可知,随着上个世纪钢骨伞的出现,手工制作的油纸伞在日常生活中越来越少使用,“它们”变成了装饰手工制品。可以推断“They”指代“手工制作的油纸伞”。故选A。 2.细节理解题。根据“They are mainly made of skin paper, bamboo and a coating of tung oil (桐油).”可知,余杭油纸伞主要由皮纸、竹子和一层桐油制成。故选C。 3.细节理解题。根据“He used a kind of lighter bamboo to make the umbrellas.”可知,Liu用一种较轻的竹子做油纸伞。故选C。 4.主旨大意题。根据“The oil paper umbrella is a traditional Chinese handicraft.”和全文内容可知,作者写这篇文章是为了向读者介绍油纸伞。故选C。 Passage4 (24-25九年级上·贵州黔南·期中)Chinese fancy knots, also called Chinese knots, are very important in Chinese culture. To win, one player must use black or white playing pieces, named stones, to surround (包围) more areas. The game was invented in China more than 2,500 years ago. It is one of the four traditional Chinese fine arts, along with playing the guqin, writing and painting, so it owns a wide fan base in China. Now it is also popular in other parts of the world. In Germany, the Berlin Go Association has worked together with the China Cultural Center to host the China Cup, which sees about 50 to 100 players each year. As the cooperation (合作) between China and Germany deepens (加深), many Go training courses are offered, and sometimes professional players from China are invited to give talks to German Go lovers. Andreas Urban, the chairman of the Berlin Go Association, discovered a book on Go accidentally. “I tried to understand the rules, but I couldn’t,” said Urban. Schreiber, the vice chairman, was introduced to the game 16 years ago by a classmate. “The first time I played Go, I even couldn’t understand the rules,” he said. But both of them found the game more and more interesting after practice. “I advise children to learn Go. They can learn that there is always someone stronger and it’s OK to lose. They can also learn how to improve from their mistakes and say tomorrow will be better than today,” said Schreiber. To the experienced players, Go can be very addictive (上瘾的), as it is not just for fun, but also has a deeper cultural ground. When two players meet on the Go board, they follow the same rules, but may carry completely different methods. This kind of cross-cultural communication helps the development of Go. 1.What does the underlined word “It” refer to? A.Weiqi. B.Guqin. C.Painting. 2.How did Schreiber probably feel after playing Go for the first time? A.Frightened. B.Confused. C.Bored. 3.Why does Schreiber suggest children should learn Go according to Paragraph 4? A.It is popular in many parts of the world. B.It is excited to win someone stronger than you. C.You can learn to accept failure by learning Go. 4.What can we learn from the passage? A.Go is one of four traditional fine arts in Germany. B.Players can’t carry the same method when playing Go. C.Cross-cultural communication plays a part in Go development. 【答案】1.A 2.B 3.C 4.C 【知识点】中华文化、说明文 【导语】本文是一篇说明文,主要介绍了围棋的规则、来源、好处以及发展。 1.词句猜测题。根据“The game was invented in China more than 2,500 years ago. This kind of cross-cultural communication helps the development of Go.”可知,提高下围棋的最好方法之一是与更强壮、来自不同文化背景的人比赛。这种跨文化交流有助于围棋的发展。本文最后讲述了跨文化交流有助于围棋发展。故选C。 主题02 人与社会——学习策略 Passage1 (25-26九年级上·贵州六盘水·期中)Scientists believe that there are three zones (区域) of learning: the comfort zone, the learning zone, and the panic (恐慌) zone. With increasing difficulty and challenges, these three zones are usually described as a continuous condition, from the comfort zone to the learning zone and then to the panic zone. The comfort zone is the situation where you think the knowledge is easy. The learning zone is where you want to learn something new. The panic zone is where you think the knowledge is too difficult and beyond your ability. How can you put this theory (理论) into your own learning? Firstly, if you feel a subject is too easy, try pushing yourself further or pay attention to other subjects. Secondly, if you feel a subject is too difficult, get over your fear and build your confidence before finding ways to improve it. Thirdly, useful practice means doing things you can’t do well rather than just finishing tasks. Finally, record your mistakes and review them. According to the study, when people leave their comfort zones and learn something new and difficult, they can discover stronger connections in their brains, which makes them smarter. That’s why people can gradually improve their abilities in the learning zone. Therefore, if you want to become a good learner, look for the learning zone, accept challenges, and pay attention to the process of learning. 1.Which picture can show the relationship among the three zones? A. B. C. 2.What does Paragraph 2 mainly talk about? A.The advantages of the three zones. B.The practice of the three zones in learning. C.The reasons for knowing the three zones. 3.Why can people improve their abilities in the learning zone? A.Because it is where they can learn something new. B.Because they think the knowledge is beyond their ability. C.Because they think the knowledge is too simple to learn. 4.What’s the best title for the passage? A.Avoid the Panic Zone. B.Master the Comfort Zone. How do you deal with your computers, MP4 players and mobile phones when they’re broken or you want a new one? Most people just throw them away. With the development of electronic industry, e-waste pollution has become a serious problem. According to the United Nations, in 2024, people around the world produced 41.8 million tons of e-waste and only recycled 6.5 million tons. China was the biggest waster, producing 10.378 million tons. The USA came second, with 7.374 million tons. It’s important to pay attention to e-waste. It can either be valuable (有价值的) or hazardous, depending on how we deal with it. E-waste is a valuable urban mine (城市矿山). The value of the metals, like gold and silver in the waste around the world, is amazing. And the metals can be reused. But if people throw them away, the toxic (有毒的) chemicals can get into the earth or air, affecting the environment and people’s health. Apple, for example, now recycles people’s used electronic products in China when they are buying new ones. The company (公司) will test and repair the used ones and sell them at lower prices. To help reduce e-waste, we can also take computers and phones to see if companies offer recycling programs. 1.How does the writer develop Paragraph 2? A.By asking questions. B.By listing numbers. C.By telling stories. 2.What does the underlined word “hazardous” in Paragraph 3 mean in Chinese? A.有害的 B.便宜的 C.无用的 3.Which of the following is TRUE according to the text? A.MP4 players are not e-waste. B.The USA produced the most e-waste in 2024. C.Some companies offer to recycle the used electronic products. 4.What’s the main purpose of the text? Many countries have been looking for effective ways for a better future. In November, 2022, China started a “bamboo instead of plastic” initiative (倡议) with the International Bamboo and Rattan Organization (国际竹藤组织), which will hopefully increase green bamboo products and reduce plastic pollution. That was Mao Dun (1896—1981), one of China’s greatest modern writers. Born as Shen Yanbing in Zhejiang, he later chose the pen name “Mao Dun”. With the help of his friend Ye Shengtao, this name became famous. So what powers Mao Dun’s writing? His masterpiece Midnight (Ziye), published in 1933, gives us the answer. The story takes place in busy Shanghai. It follows Wu Sunfu, a factory owner who fights against foreign competitors and dishonest officers. Through Wu’s sad story, Mao Dun showed the real problems China faced in the 1930s. The book was so popular that critics (评论家) called 1933 “the year of Midnight”. Mao Dun could write about more than just cities. His Rural Trilogy (农村三部曲)—Spring Silkworms, Autumn Harvests, Winter Ruins—voiced the feelings of poor farmers. In these stories, good harvests (收成) sometimes bring disaster. This shows how big world events could shake even the smallest Chinese villages. Mao Dun could move easily from writing about business offices to farming fields. You can feel his deep care for common people on every page. But his real gift was his realistic writing style. With this ability, he recorded social changes so clearly that his books are like history and literature joined as one. Readers can almost see and feel the time periods he wrote about. As we near his 130th birthday in 2026, Mao Dun’s works still speak to us today. They remind us that great writing is more than just for fun—it helps us see the world more clearly. Nearby, her roommate is deep into Animal Crossing, fishing by a virtual (虚拟的) river. For them and many other young people, these farming and life-simulation games provide a digital escape into a calmer and more controllable way of living. Called “digital farmers”, players enjoy planting crops, looking after animals, and building communities in these easy virtual worlds. “These games are more than just hobbies,” Li said. “They teach me to watch, plan, and be patient. They show me that hard work and time bring rewards.” This type of game has become very popular. Some games received billions of online views soon after they came out, and others sold tens of millions of copies in just one year. This quick growth comes from the games’ special attraction for young city people. Experts say the games provide a needed sense of control and success—a “safe test area” where growing time is made shorter, work soon shows results, and mistakes are not forever. This gives players a break from the busy and worried life of the city, connecting them again with a peaceful and natural rhythm. Also, these virtual farms reflect an old cultural wish. The ancient dream of country life, written by the poet Tao Yuanming—“I pull weeds at sunrise, coming home with my farming tool under the moon”—now lives again in the digital world. In the end, cyber farming is not just about getting away; it is a new way for young people to look for order, real achievement, and a peaceful connection with nature—showing that old dreams of simple country life still matter to the heart today. 1.The term “digital farmers” in the passage refers to people who ________. A.study agriculture online. B.use technology on real farms. C.play farming and life games online. 2.What is the key reason for the games’ popularity according to experts? A.They are very cheap to buy. B.They meet needs missing in real life. C.They have very simple rules. 3.What’s the Chinese meaning of the underlined sentence in paragraph 4? A.种豆南山下,草盛豆苗稀。 B.晨兴理荒秽,带月荷锄归。 C.采菊东篱下,悠然见南山。 4.What is the author’s final conclusion (结论) about cyber farming? A.It is better than playing other video games. B.It will soon become less popular. However, the oldest pen was just a stick or a piece of bamboo. It was difficult for people to write well on thin silk. It is said that Meng Tian, a general of the Kingdom (王国) of Qin, improved the pen. When Meng was leading an army to fight against the Kingdom of Chu, he had to report the situation to his king in time. But his pen was too hard and caused him much trouble, so he was thinking of ways to improve it. One day after hunting (狩猎), Meng made his way home with some wild rabbits on horseback. Fat and heavy, one rabbit’s tail left a long trail (痕迹) on the ground when they moved on. Suddenly a good idea came to his mind when he saw it, “If I tie the rabbit’s hair to a stick, would it be easy to write with?” After arriving home, he tied the rabbit’s hair to a stick and tried writing with it. But the rabbit’s hair was too smooth (平滑的) to write well and wasted a lot of silk. Meng was so frustrated that he threw away his “invention” into a stone hole in the yard. However, Meng never gave up and kept trying all the time. A few rainy days later, he happened to find his “invention” in a stone hole. He picked it up with hope. The brush worked beautifully on silk. It turned out that the special water had cleaned the oil from the hair. Meng succeeded at last. Thanks to Meng, the brush pen is playing a key role in Chinese culture. Today, students are taught to use the brush pens in school. It makes their life more colorful and helps them better understand Chinese culture. 1.Why did Meng Tian want to improve the pen? A.Because the king asked him to do so. B.Because he wanted to be an inventor. C.Because the pen brought him much trouble. 2.When did Meng think of the good idea in Paragraph 3? A.Before hunting animals. B.When he saw the trail. C.During cleaning the hair. 3.The underlined word “frustrated” probably means “________”. A.happy B.upset C.surprised 4.What is the main idea of the passage? A.How the brush pen was invented. B.Meng was a great inventor. C.It is important to learn Chinese culture. 【答案】1.C 2.B 3.B 4.A 【知识点】发明与创造、记叙文 【导语】本文主要讲述了文房四宝之一——毛笔发明的传说故事 【详解】1.根据第二段中“But his pen was too hard and caused him much trouble, so he was thinking of ways to improve it.”可知,蒙恬的笔太硬,给他带来了很多麻烦,所以他想要改进笔。 2.根据第三段中“Fat and heavy, one rabbit’s tail left a long trail on the ground when they moved on. They often miss key points while writing, or can’t find mistakes in their exercises quickly. This is where the “Smart Note-Taking Pen” comes in. The Smart Note-Taking Pen looks like a regular pen, but it has a small camera and a bluetooth chip inside. When students write on special notebooks, the pen records every word they write and sends the content to their phones or tablets in real-time. If they miss what the teacher says, they can play back the audio (声音) that the pen records at the same time as writing. What’s more, when students finish their math exercises, they can scan the answers with the pen. The pen will connect to an app to analyze the mistakes and explain the right solutions—this helps students understand where they go wrong without waiting for teachers’ feedback. Li Ming, a Grade 9 student, used to spend 2 hours checking his math homework every day. He is one of the most important scientists in China. Wang is famous as the father of Chinese language typesetting (排版). He invented a computerized laser photo composition system (计算机激光照排系统) for Chinese characters (汉字) in the 1970s. This invention helped China turn a new page in printing. Before Wang’s invention, people printed books and newspapers with movable block type (活字印刷). This was invented by Bi Sheng around 1040. However, it took a lot of time. At that time, it would take more than 30 people 8 hours a day to print just one page of a newspaper. Wang wanted to change it. So he began to take action and research laser photo composition in 1974. It was the best but the most difficult printing method at that time. Only a few Western countries were able to make it. Without any experience to borrow from, Wang could only work on it by himself. Luckily, Wang’s hard work finally paid off in 1980. China’s first laser-printed book, a 26-page story called The Sword of Wu Hao, appeared. With Wang’s system, a newspaper could be typeset in just 20 minutes. His invention helped China enter a new age of printing. 1.What is Wang Xuan known as? A.A great writer. B.A famous newspaper fan. There are a number of ways to do this. If you know someone has something, you can ask for it with a polite question. If you don’t know, it’s possible to ask for something with a yes-or-no question. Be careful not to use the direct expressions. In other words, don’t say “Give me that”, but ask kindly as the following examples, “Do you have a pen I could borrow?” “Is there any wine?” “Did you buy any bread?” If you know or see someone has something, ask a polite question with “could”, “may” or “might”. It’s also possible to use “can” in some special situations. In the past, “can” was not used when people asked for something, but it meant ability. In the UK, people mainly use “Can you lend me...?” or “Can I have...?” In the US, this is still considered to be wrong and “May I have...?” is preferred. It’s common to use “Could you lend/hand/give...?” You can also use “May/Can I borrow...?”, “Could/Can you lend me...?”, “May I have...?” ,“Could you hand/give me...?” Do not begin a sentence with “please”, but you can add “please” at the end of a sentence to be polite. 1.What can we ask if we know someone has something? It started during the Shang Dynasty when people used it to make clothing more beautiful. Over time, it became an important part of Chinese culture, showing the skills and creativity of different places. There are four famous embroidery styles in China. Su embroidery from Jiangsu uses very thin silk threads (线). Artists take months to make pictures of flowers or birds that look almost real. Some works even show the same picture perfectly on both sides of the cloth. Shu embroidery from Sichuan loves bright colors. It often shows things from Sichuan like pandas eating bamboo. A special “fish-scale stitch (鱼鳞针)” makes water animals look alive. Xiang embroidery from Hunan makes animal hair look shiny, while Yue embroidery from Guangdong uses golden threads for dragon pictures, which were once only for the king’s families. Today, embroidery isn’t just for traditional clothes. You can find it on modern dresses, bags, and even phone cases. To protect this art, China named it a National Intangible Cultural Heritage (国家级非物质文化遗产) in 2006. Schools and museums now teach young people embroidery skills. For example, the Suzhou Embroidery School trains students in old techniques, and some museums use computer tools to let students try “digital (数字的) embroidery” while learning its history. The government protects embroidery because each style tells stories about its home. Su embroidery shows Jiangsu’s rivers and gardens, while Shu embroidery brings Sichuan’s forests to life. By keeping these skills alive, China shares its culture with the world and connects past traditions to modern life. 1.When did Chinese embroidery first appear? A.In the Shang Dynasty. It’s said that some pronunciations, which were considered to have been misread before, are now correct. They even include the characters in some famous sentences from ancient poems. One example is by Du Mu from the Tang Dynasty “Up a long path amid the rocks I climb so high, there are houses in the depths of clouds white”. About the changes, different people have different ideas. Many Internet users disagreed with the changes. They argued that changing pronunciations would change the rhyme (韵律) of the sentences in poems, destroying the beauty of Chinese literature. However, supporters of the change said, “This is how language improves, and the pronunciations should meet the needs of society, instead of remaining in the past.” An officer from the Ministry of Education explained that most of the so-called “new” pronunciations have not yet been confirmed (确认). But according to the fifth and sixth edition (版本) of the Modern Chinese Dictionary, quite a few pinyin spelling have already been changed, such as “呆板 (from ái to dāi)” and 确凿 (from zuò to záo). So, Professor Zhang Yiwu from Peking University told China Daily that pronunciation changes are normal and necessary as language changes and they will not destroy traditional culture. 1.What can we learn from Paragraph 1? A.Many false pronunciations in Chinese. B.Some famous sentences in ancient poems. C.Some misread pronunciations are right now. 2.Which is the proper meaning of the underlined poems in the passage? A.黄河远上白云间,一片孤城万仞山。 B.远上寒山石径斜,白云生处有人家。 C.两岸青山相对出,孤帆一片日边来。 3.Why do some people support the pronunciation changes? A.Because they want to make a new language. B.Because they think the old language should be replaced. C.Because they think the language should fit the needs of society. 4.According to the last paragraph, what is Zhang Yiwu’s attitude to the changes? A.He supports the changes. B.He disagrees with the changes. C.He doesn’t give any clear opinions. 【答案】1.C 2.B 3.C 4.A 【知识点】议论文、语言与文化 【导语】本文是一篇议论文,主要讨论了汉字发音变化引发的争议,包括反对者认为破坏古诗韵律美,支持者认为语言需适应社会需求,并引用教育部和学者的观点说明变化的合理性。 【详解】1.细节理解题。根据“It’s said that some pronunciations, which were considered to have been misread before, are now correct.”可推知,部分曾被误读的发音现已被接受。故选C。 2.词句猜测题。根据画线诗句“Up a long path amid the rocks I climb so high, there are houses in the depths of clouds white”以及常识可知,与选项B“远上寒山石径斜,白云生处有人家”意境完全匹配。故选B。 3.细节理解题。根据“the pronunciations should meet the needs of society”(发音应满足社会需求)可推知,支持者认为语言需适应社会发展。故选C。 4.观点态度题。根据文章最后一段张颐武教授的观点“pronunciation changes are normal and necessary…they will not destroy traditional culture”可知,他认为发音变化是正常且必要的,不会破坏传统文化,因此他应是持支持态度。故选A。 Passage7 (25-26九年级上·海南省直辖县级单位·期中)So, it’s exam time again. Have you done the necessary work to get good marks? Sleeping with the textbook under the pillow (枕头) doesn’t work. To learn something well, practice little by little over time. Don’t try to learn everything at once. A scientist, Tom Stafford, explains it this way: if you study for one hour a day over five days, you will remember more than if you study for five hours in just one day. △ Get pens and paper and start working! If you test yourself earlier, you can remember the knowledge better and longer. John Dunlosky, a professor in the US, suggests that “Review the notes and marks you’ve made in your textbook, summarize (总结) the key ideas, and then test yourself on them.” Good revision (复习) should give you confidence, but if you are still worried, there are some special customs for you to relax. In Japan it seems to be a tradition for students to eat Katsudon (炸猪排饭) before a test. This is a bowl of rice with egg and pork pieces. The name of the dish makes people think of the word “Katsu”, meaning “winning”. For some students in South Korea, the key to success is not washing their hair before an exam, because they believe they could wash all the knowledge out of their heads. Passage5 (24-25九年级上·贵州黔南·期中)Go, commonly known in China as Weiqi, is a board game for two players. One of the best ways to improve is to play against someone who’s stronger, as well as from different cultural backgrounds. 主题02 人与社会——学习策略 Passage1 (25-26九年级上·贵州六盘水·期中)Scientists believe that there are three zones (区域) of learning: the comfort zone, the learning zone, and the panic (恐慌) zone. A.To show that e-waste is useless. B.To talk about the value of e-waste. C.To advise people to deal with e-waste properly to reduce pollution. Passage4 (24-25九年级上·贵州铜仁·期中)In recent years, plastic pollution has become one of the most serious environmental problems around the world. Bamboo is a renewable natural resource of great value, such as cleaning air and preventing soil loss. Unlike trees which usually need so long time to fully grow, bamboo can be harvested in 3 to 5 years. As long as it is protected well, bamboo can be cut every year and doesn’t have to be replanted. Bamboo can be used to make different kinds of products. These products can take the place of plastic products in many fields such as packaging and building. Moreover, bamboo is an innocuous material. It doesn’t cause any pollution when it has to be thrown away. China is one of the countries with the richest bamboo resources in the world. The Chinese are a pioneer (先锋) in the use of bamboo. Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hunan and Guizhou in the country have set up companies (公司) to develop and produce bamboo products. They cover the areas of tableware, furniture, decoration, daily necessities, etc. Many of them have been sold to different countries. China is also sharing its technologies and experience to help other countries with rich bamboo resources. It is hoped that countries will work together for global green development. 1.What is the purpose of Paragraph 1? A.To ask people to protect bamboo. B.To advise people to plant more bamboo. C.To encourage people to make good use of bamboo. 2.What does the underlined word “innocuous” in Paragraph 2 mean? A.Cheap. B.Strong. C.Harmless. 3.What can we learn from the last paragraph? A.Few people use bamboo products in Europe. B.China is helping other countries with rich bamboo resources. C.Henan and Guizhou have set up companies to plant bamboo. 4.Which can be the best title for the passage? A.Less Plastic, More Bamboo B.Chinese Bamboo Products C.Countries with Rich Bamboo Resources 主题04 人与社会——人物故事 Passage 1 (25-26九年级上·贵州贵阳·期中)On the evening of August 16, 2025, Pang Zhongwang, a student from Tsinghua University, was named a “Touching China” 2024 Awardee. For young readers today, his books open a window to China’s past and encourage us to value our own literary treasures. 1.What do we know about Mao Dun? A.The name Mao Dun is his real name. C.It represents a modern search for meaning. Passage2 (24-25九年级上·贵州贵阳·期中) The traditional Chinese calendar divides the year into 24 solar terms. In China, the 24 solar terms were created thousands of years ago to guide agricultural (农业的) production. But solar term culture is still useful today to guide people’s lives through cultural activities and special food that go with each term. Great Heat, the 12th solar term of the year, begins this year on July 23 and ends on August 7. During Great Heat, most parts of China enter the hottest season of the year. Here is something you should know about Great Heat. Great Heat is a season of harvesting (收割). During this time, the sunshine, high temperatures, and heavy rainfall are good for the plants. But many natural disasters (灾害) also happen. So, it’s important to harvest and plant in time. Sending the Great Heat ship is a tradition in Taizhou. The ship is full of all kinds of meat. More than 50 fishermen take turns to carry the ship. After they walk through the street for long, they will finally pull the ship out of the port and burn it at sea. People believe that is a symbol of good harvests and health. People in different places enjoy different food. For example, in southern Shandong, people would like to drink mutton soup. Chinese people are among the most hospitable people in the world. If foreigners visit a Chinese family, they would be surprised at the warmth that they would receive as guests. When you visit a Chinese family, the host usually makes tea for you. Then he will serve you snacks (小吃) like biscuits or candy. Someone in the family will also chat with you, never letting you feel lonely. At the same time, other family members will prepare a meal for you. Chinese people treat their guests with a big meal. They always present more food than the guest can eat. On the table, the guests must be the first to eat. Perhaps one of the things that surprises a western guest most is that the Chinese host likes to pick food for visitors, which won’t happen at western tables. The Chinese family go out of their way to make you feel at home. As you are done eating, the host usually says, “It seems that you didn’t eat much. Please have more.” Although you tell them you are full, they still put more food in your bowl. Being warm and hospitable has long been an important part of Chinese culture and tradition. After using the pen for a month, he now only needs 40 minutes. “I don’t have to mark mistakes one by one anymore,” he said. “The pen tells me the problems directly, and I can focus on fixing them.” The Smart Note-Taking Pen doesn’t replace teachers. Instead, it helps students study more efficiently. It shows that technology can be a good helper for learning, as long as we use it properly. 1.What does the underlined word “analyze” in Paragraph 2 mean? A.Find out and explain. Passage4 (25-26九年级上·湖南长沙·期中)Chinese embroidery (刺绣) has a history of over 3,000 years. B.In the Han Dynasty. C.In the Tang Dynasty. 2.Which embroidery style makes animal hair look shiny? A.Su embroidery. B.Xiang embroidery. It has entered many parts of our lives, from daily tasks to global fields. At the 2025 Bund Summit (外滩峰会) in Shanghai, different AI products were shown. Some companies showed their advanced (先进的) AI machines, showing how much AI has improved in different fields. For example, a smart rehabilitation (康复) robot was shown, which brings new help to the medical field. Dr. Demis Hassabis, a top AI scientist and the winner of the 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, said at an event in Greece that “learning how to learn” will be the most important skill for young people. He thinks that as AI develops faster, this skill will be more important because it helps people keep up with changing technology. He added that AI can do many things, like dealing with large amounts of data (数据) quickly, but it can’t give people the ability to explore new knowledge on their own. To keep up with AI’s fast development, students need to develop important skills. These skills include critical (批判性) thinking, managing study time well, and getting used to new technologies. In some schools, students learn to check if AI-collected information is trustworthy—this is a way to practice critical thinking. With these skills, students can do better in an AI-driven future. Though AI brings much convenience, we shouldn’t depend on it too much. We should see AI as a useful tool, not a replacement for our own thinking. Only then can we make good use of AI while keeping our ability to learn and create. 1.What may be shown at the 2025 Bund Summit in Shanghai? A.A silk scarf. B.A smart watch. C.A sky lantern. 2.According to Dr. Demis Hassabis, what is the most important skill for young people? A.Learning how to learn. B.Getting used to new technologies. C.Dependable. 4.Which of the following could be the best title for the passage? A.AI Users: To Learn How to Learn B.AI Tools: To Take the Place of Human Jobs C.AI Technologies: To Be Used in More Fields Passage6 (24-25九年级上·湖南长沙·期中) Recently, an article titled “Chinese Characters Whose Pronunciations Have Changed” has caused heated discussions online. Passage7 (25-26九年级上·海南省直辖县级单位·期中)So, it’s exam time again. And in different parts of the world, there are always those who believe in their “lucky underwear”. The most important thing is that you need to study, eat a good meal, sleep well on the eve of the test, and believe that your efforts will pay off. Passage10 (25-26九年级上·海南省直辖县级单位·期中) You must have heard of “city bu city” (meaning city or not city), an Internet buzzword (流行语) created by an American blogger (博主) Baobaoxiong. It’s used to ask if a place is like a big, modern city. Millions of foreigners like Baobaoxiong are visiting China and posting their travel videos. The visa-free transit policy (过境免签政策) plays an important role in it. Travelers from 54 countries can stay in China for up to six days without a visa (签证) as long as they have a travel document and a connecting ticket to leave.
