Slides are simple but always fun. All you need to do is climb up to the top and slide down. But did you know that there is science behind this simple playground equipment (设备)?
①You climb up the slide and sit down. You are ready to go. Are you sliding down? No, not yet. Things stay still (静止) unless something makes them move. It is Newton’s first law. So you have to give yourself a push to start the journey down.
②Now you are sliding down.
Do you feel you are slowing down a bit? When two things rub (摩擦) against each other, they cause friction (摩擦力). Without friction, you will slide down faster and faster to the bottom.
③At the bottom of the slide, you come to a full stop. Your feet touch the ground and add extra friction. Newton’s first law also says moving things keep moving unless something makes them stop. So, if you do not use your feet, you’ll fly off the slide.
Isaac Newton said what goes up must come down. He was talking about gravity (重力). Slides work because of gravity. But that is not at all.
9. What is Newton’s first law?
A. When you push something, it pushes back.
B. Things stay still if something makes them move.
C. A thing will go faster if you push it harder.
D. An object will not move until a force acts on it.
10. What would happen if you do not use your feet at the bottom of the slide?
A. You would stay still. B. You would stop at once.
C. You would add extra friction. D. You would slide uncontrollably.
11. Which picture explains why you slow down a bit when sliding down?
A. B.
C. D.
12. What is the main reason for sliding?
A. gravity B. friction
C. pull D. push
【答案】9. D 10. D 11. B 12. A

【9题详解】
第①段明确指出:“Things stay still unless something makes them move. It is Newton’s first law”,说明牛顿第一定律的内涵是物体在没有外力作用时会保持静止,也就是物体直到有力作用在它上面才会运动。
【10题详解】
第③段明确指出:“So, if you do not use your feet, you’ll fly off the slide”,说明在滑梯底部如果不用脚,人会从滑梯飞出去,出现不受控制滑行的情况。
【11题详解】
第②段明确指出:“When two things rub against each other, they cause friction. Without friction, you will slide down faster and faster to the bottom”,说明下滑时速度变慢是摩擦力的作用,对应标注“friction”的图片。
【12题详解】
文中末尾指出:“Slides work because of gravity”,说明滑梯能够滑行的主要原因是重力。
Passage D
单项选择 根据短文内容从各题的四个选项中选择一个最佳答案,并将其代表字母涂(填)在答题卡(纸)的相应位置。
“Wow! Look at that! Isn’t it a real fish?” The bionic (仿生) fish, named “Jinlin”, was swimming lively like a real one. It was developed by researchers at Shanghai Ocean University. This invention isn’t just for fun—it shows how humans copy nature to solve problems. That is a science called bionics.
Over millions of years, animals and plants have developed smart ways to survive. For example, kingfishers are experts at moving fast between air and water with very little noise. Through their study, scientists discovered that the birds’ long beaks enabled this ability. Then they used the knowledge to change the front of the high-speed train. This change cut down noise level, increased speed by 10% and greatly saved energy. This combination (结合) of biology and engineering is the key to success in bionics. And it has set the stage for the rise of other new technologies.
Driven by robotics and AI, bionics has grown rapidly. The AI-powered bionic fish “Jinlin” can be used for environmental protection and deep sea exploration. In medicine, bionic arms can work similarly to real arms. Sensors allow the user to “feel” touch and pressure. Motors help the bionic arms make movements, like human muscles (肌肉). With AI, the bionic arms are able to “learn” new tasks and become smarter over time. These inventions are examples to show how bionics bridges biology and new technologies to solve humans’ problems.
Although so much progress has been made, bionics faces challenges. Nature’s designs are hard to copy perfectly. As for bionic arms, one key area of development is Brain-Computer Interface (脑机接口). More work on direct communication between the brain and bionic arms is required to control movements as naturally as real arms. Researchers are also working on creating new materials and structures which can sense and repair themselves.
While there’s still a long way to go, the future of bionics is full of possibilities. Stay hungry. Stay foolish. Maybe you’ll be the next one to change the world!
13. Why does the writer mention “Jinlin” at the beginning of the passage?
A. To suggest some new ideas. B. To lead into the topic of bionics.
C. To explain the habits of fish. D. To show the importance of bionics.
14. What does the underlined word “beaks” refer to?
A. tails B. mouths C. necks D. legs
15. Which of the following shows the use of bionics?
A. Drawing a picture of birds by watching real birds.
B. Building a house with natural materials like wood.
C. Designing a camera by copying some insects’ eyes.
D. Learning to dance by studying monkeys’ movements.
16. What’s the best title of this passage?
A. Nature’s Smarter Copy-Bionics. B. Success of Bionic Arms and Fish
C. The Development of Brain-Computer Interface D. How AI Helps Bionics
【答案】13. B 14. B 15. C 16. A

Fashion trends (趋势) are around us, and can be exciting. A trend used to happen in a 20-year cycle, but the latest development of the Internet and clothing business has increasingly cut the length of the cycle short. Now, it seems there comes a new fashion trend every couple of months, but it still follows the same stages:
●A trend is usually first brought in during a big fashion show. Reporters and writers collect what they have learned in the show and predict a trend in the near future. Some other important people take part in this process as well.
●Then the trend is talked about online and finally worn by famous people to make it better accepted, which leads to the rise of the trend.
●Once the trend becomes popular, it will go to the public soon. Large clothing companies and shops begin following the trend so that everyone can get their hands on it. This is when the trend gets to the highest point.
●After that, the trend usually falls and becomes out of date. However, this is not always the end, as trends happen in broader cycles and most get popular again.
Trends can be a great way to try something new and test your style. A survey says some people enjoy following trends because they keep fashion exciting and provide fresh ideas. However, others may not think so, especially when a trend doesn’t agree with how they feel about themselves. Trends can be fun, but sometimes prove a waste of money because many simply see trends as brands (品牌). So, should we follow fashion trends?
Clearly, there’s no right answer whether to follow trends or not depends on how they go with your values, spending, and sense of self. It does not hurt to watch trend reports but never choose to follow them unless you really think they fit with your personal style.
41. How long did a fashion trend use to last?
____________________________________________________________________
42. Who usually first realizes a new fashion trend?
____________________________________________________________________
43. What can help people to know about their styles?

单项选择根据短文内容从各题的四个选项中选择一个最佳答案,并将其代表字母涂(填)在答题卡(纸)的相应位置。
A. gravity B. friction
C. pull D. push
