以介词to结尾的短语还有:in addition to除……以外(还);object to 反对;lead to导致,引起;pay attention to注意;stick to坚持;contribute to有助于,促成;get down to 开始做;adapt (oneself) to(使某人自己)适应;devote oneself to 献身于,致力于

故选A。

Ⅲ.1.Keeping up with other students 2.prefer making a plan in advance 3.so that;ahead of schedule/time 4.It is very important for students to listen to 5.①to focus your attention on ②you should focus your attention on
be worried about...
recommend sb. to do sth.
3.behavio(u)r 考查名词。
4.Although/Though/While 考查连词。
方面 5.above all 尤其是,最重要的是 6.(be) faced with面临
7.regularly adv.
【差距词汇】 1.give rise to使发生(或存在) 2.put oneself in sb.'s shoes使自己处于某人的境地
1.silence(s) 考查名词。
All of us went, including the teacher.=All of us went, the teacher included.
think it+adj.+to do sth.
ways to do sth.
设空处所在句为表语(Of equal importance)置于句首的倒装句,句子主语为putting yourself in your parents' shoes and regularly and honestly 7 with them,根据第6空后的and可知,设空处和putting为并列结构,故填动名词communicating。
空前的“the changes and challenges of your teenage years”作分句主语,所以设空处作分句谓语,由前一分句中的will turn out可知应用一般将来时,故填will prepare。prepare sb. to do sth.
6.routine adj.
8.keep a balance保持平衡 9.take on one's responsibilities承担某人的责任 10.criticize v.
文中的Above all(尤其,最重要的是)与题干中的key role(关键作用)呼应。
作者在第二段的“I have been there...what life was about!”讲了自己青少年时期的困难,第三段的“As a teenager, I had a major problem...family and friends.”将自己的青少年时期和现在对比,最后一段的“Life becomes much easier now...let my hair down.”
神奇的 2.when it comes to...
7.exploration n.
与本段意思一致,选项中的“Choosing activities you love”与上文中的“find your passions”呼应。
4.A 主旨句。 根据下文的“use your time wisely”“manage your time”“time management”等信息可知,本段主要讲的是要提高时间管理能力,A项“努力提高时间管理技能。” 故选A。

根据The Bruner部分中的“This meeting allows students to develop their ability to get knowledge before the start of the school year.”
根据The Trinity Times部分中的“written, edited, photographed and produced completely by students as an extra-curricular activity”可知,The Trinity Times完全由学生管理。故选A。
B
根据第一段中的“It's with both happiness and sadness.”和“but it also means I'm officially halfway through the exchange year”可知,开学意味着为期一年的交换生生活即将结束,所以作者感到伤心,故选B。
根据第二段中的“Honestly, I prefer to have different classes every day, as I did in my home country.”
根据第二段中的“Football is one of my favorite sports now.”和“Now I am addicted to it, especially to watching it with my host parents.”
故选A。
根据画线部分前面的“During your parents' childhoods...”和画线部分后面的“Kids played Scrabble around a table, not Words With Friends on their phones.”
由第五段中的“In fact, in many ways...with each other”可知,事实上,在很多方面,在线交流可以使友谊更加牢固,Katie认为,这明显有积极的影响。 故选A。
选项中的Their stories与上文中的read about successful people呼应。
41.B 根据下文“They will soon learn that classes are harder”可知,新生进入高中时不知道(knowing)会发生什么,后面才会得知具体情况, knowing与learn(得知)是同义复现。
故选A。
44.A 根据句中的“in class”以及第三段第一句中的“Lin enjoys his freedom and flexible teachers”可知,老师(teachers)对于课上做什么更加灵活。故选A。
45.D 根据后半句中的“we can decide what to wear”可知,学校管理不像初中时那么严格(strict)了。故选D。
46.A 根据该段中的“I miss hanging about with my friends in P.E. class”可知,此处指他怀念(misses)在体育课上跟朋友聊天。故选A。
51.C 下一句讲到如果Lin在穿过校园去上另一节课的时候想去洗手间,他最后会 52 ,结合本段最后一句的“it'll take me some time to find my way”可知,洗手间(Bathrooms)距离教室太远。
故选A。
goals 后面的that 引导定语从句,that在从句中作设空处的宾语,将先行词goals代入从句中,即they hope to 54 goals,根据固定搭配achieve goals“实现目标”可知选C。
55.B 根据前面的“graduate with excellent grades”可知,这里指“上大学”(attend a university),故选B。
mean doing sth.
Here be...
play a/an...part
be expected to do sth. 故填to spend。
60.to/of 考查介词。the secret to/of...
61.who/that 考查定语从句。 a person为先行词,指人,故填who或that。

65.will be accepted 考查时态和语态。

I hope we can become pen pals, and I will share my experiences of travelling, taking care of pets, or whatever we have in common with you.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

第二节
One possible version:
Hearing Mum's words, I stared at the valuable blue ribbon, lost in thought. What was it that made me so afraid? But still no answer came out. Soon the cake was finished. We went back to the kitchen for the baked cake. Mum cut a slice and handed it to me, saying, “You can make it.” I raised the warm cake to my mouth. It was so delicious and fragrant. Then Mum tied the blue ribbon to my wrist. Suddenly I knew where I could find my courage. It was from my mum's love.
The next day I walked to the front of the classroom to give my speech. Seeing the quiet classroom, I couldn't help but feel nervous again, my mind going blank and my voice trembling. Then I saw the blue ribbon which my mum tied to my wrist. I thought of Mum's warm cake, her love and her inspiring experience. Then I took a deep breath and gave my speech with confidence. This time there was no fear any more but a big round of applause.

W: Well, I used to spend a lot of time reading newspapers when I was in high school. But my friends hardly read them because they thought newspapers were boring. That’s why I started a newspaper for teenagers.
M: So, why did you go for an online newspaper?
W: Well, I thought if my newspaper was the same as those traditional ones, it wouldn’t make a difference. I supposed teenagers might prefer an online newspaper. And I talked to a few schoolmates about my idea after we graduated from university. They all agreed to join me. But you know, the first step is always difficult. We had problems in getting bank loans. Finally, I had to borrow some money from my parents and then we founded a small newspaper company.
M: I’m glad you shared your story with us.

M: Exactly! The last bus was gone! I didn’t have money for a taxi and the subway wasn’t running either.
W: What did you do?
M: I decided to spend the night in a cafe and I didn’t get any sleep.
W: Oh, dear! So, what time did you get to the airport?

M: Good afternoon, students. This is your headmaster speaking. Firstly, I’d like to welcome you all back. I hope this will be another excellent school year.
Many changes have taken place at the school over the summer. As well as a new group of students, we are also welcoming some new members of staff: Mrs. Hook, who will be teaching physics; Miss Chang, the new head of the English literature department and our new PE coach for boys, Mr. Walden.
You will also notice several changes to the school buildings. Computer classes will now take place in the new technology centre, located behind the mathematics building. The old computer rooms are now part of the library, which is now much bigger and contains thousands of new books. The school meeting hall has been much improved, and we now have a proper stage to put on concerts and plays.
Despite all these changes, the school rules remain the same. Be respectful, be on time, and always do your best. Thank you.

Teenagers who spend more time on extra-curricular activities and less than two hours of screen time after school are mentally healthier, according to a study published in the journal Preventive Medicine. The new study was carried out by researchers from the University of British Columbia.
The study used information collected from more than 28,000 Canadian teenage students between 2014 and 2018. The students first answered questions about their screen time after school, including how much time they spent swiping the mobile phone, watching TV or something else. Then, students reported how many days they had engaged in extra-curricular activities such as sports or arts programs. After that, researchers asked students to describe their states of mind. For example, when given a statement such as “I start most days thinking that I will have a good day”, students could choose at what level they agreed with it on a scale(等级).
Some of the results were expected, researchers said in the study. Students with no extra-curricular activities usually had high levels of screen time, for example. And they expected girls would score higher on negative indicators(指标) of mental health, as earlier research had found that they tended to have higher levels of anxiety compared to boys.
What was noteworthy, researchers say, is that even among students who took part in extra-curricular activities, 46% still went beyond the recommended screen time of two hours. At the same time, 67% of the students who didn't take part in extra-curricular activities also had more than two hours of screen time. Together, this suggests high levels of screen time among teenagers generally.
“The findings suggest that extra-curricular activities are valuable to the happy growth of teenagers,” the study said. “While past studies have proved the importance of extra-curricular activities for social and academic development, the present study shows their importance for good mental health.”
5.What were the students asked to do after they reported time about extra-curricular activities?
A.Talk about their lifestyles. B.Introduce their extra-curricular activities.
C.Report their mental states on a scale. D.Answer questions about screen time.
6.What do the researchers find about teenage girls?
A.They have lower levels of anxiety. B.They often have higher levels of satisfaction.
C.They take a more active part in extra-curricular activities.
D.Too much screen time may be more harmful to them.
7.What does the author want to show by using the numbers in paragraph 4?
A.Earlier findings about screen time are wrong.
B.High levels of screen time is common among teenagers.
C.No extra-curricular activities means no screen time.
D.Screens attract teenagers more than extra-curricular activities do.
8.Why are extra-curricular activities so important according to the new study?
A.They help to improve teenagers' mental health. B.They are good for teenagers' physical health.
C.They encourage teenagers' social development.. D.They allow teenagers to become better learners.

Teenage life around the world
Asha
I'm from Tanzania. Like most teenagers, I start my day early and end it late. After school, I study at a night school to prepare for the College Entrance Examination. When I have time off, I prefer to be outdoors. I love nature and animals. I'm quite upset about how we treat the environment, so I do my best to help. I volunteer to plant trees and I'm a member of our school's Nature Club.
Samika
I'm 15. I wish I were a student, but I'm not. I had to quit school when I was 13 so that I could get a job and help my family. I work in a garment store. It's unbelievably hard work and the days are so long. Although everyone works hard, we still find suitable time to play and laugh together. At times like these, the world feels like a wonderful place.
Frieder
I'm 16 and I go to a high school in Munich. I'm not crazy about school—listening to a teacher isn't my thing—but I know I have to get an education. It's very difficult for young people to find a job in Europe, so I worry a lot about the future. Oh, actually I'm a game addict. I am addicted to Internet games so much that I have started a gaming club at my school.
Joe
I'm a freshman from London. The online world is a big part of my life. I've been using the computer since I was a kid. I do various things online. Besides doing all my schoolwork, I chat with friends, play computer games, watch films, read the daily news and shop online. My parents are worried. They keep telling me to drag myself away from the online world.
1.What does Asha care about most?
A.School life. B.Exams. C.The environment. D.Outdoor activities.
2.What can we know about Samika?

C.She is out of a job and stressed. D.She is out of school and annoyed.
3.What do Frieder and Joe have in common?

C.They prefer to make friends online. D.They have joined the computer club at school.
Ⅱ.七选五
Teenage life: better now, or in the past?
Does this situation sound familiar(熟悉的)?
You're complaining(抱怨) to your parents about something. Maybe your computer isn't powerful enough to play the latest games. 1 Then you hear...
“When I was your age, there weren't any computers or video games. And I didn't get a bike until I was 16. And it was second-hand. 2 ”
So is it really true that life is better for teenagers now? It is obviously true that many teenagers have got more things nowadays. 3 So parents have got more money to spend on each child. And many things are cheaper than they were when our parents were children.
4 Forty years ago, no one could imagine a world with tiny computers and amazing smartphones. And now these things are necessary—we can't imagine living without them!
However, technology often means we spend more time at home. And often it's just us, with our computers or televisions. Teenagers don't do enough exercise. 5 And although young people still get on well with their friends, some people think teenagers today don't have so many attractive social activities as the teenagers in the past.
What do you think? How is teenage life better these days?
A.And it was too big for me.
B.Life was not easy in the past.
C.A typical family is smaller now.
D.You get very unhappy with this.
E.Or your friends' bikes are better than yours.
F.So they aren't as healthy as the teenagers in the past.
G.Technology is probably the greatest change in our life.

Teenage life is quite dramatic but that doesn't mean you cannot enjoy your life in these years. Even with your daily troubles, your life is not very hard if you know how to deal with them.
I know exactly how you feel. Teenage life can be hard. You are not a kid anymore because you are smart enough to consider your surroundings. However, you are still not an adult because there are still lots of experiences that you need to have and lessons that you need to learn from these experiences. Above all, the hormonal(荷尔蒙的) imbalance in your body can really mess you up. I have been there. I was in it for six years exploring what life was about!
As a teenager, I had a major problem completing my routine tasks on time. And at that time, all that I needed to do was finish my homework, study for the upcoming tests and clean up my room. Now, I have more things to do: cooking, cleaning and working while keeping a balance among all my relationships related to work, family and friends. That is really a lot of work. So, I will just give you one golden tip, “Never leave that till tomorrow which you can do today.”
Life becomes much easier now because I finish all my work on time and I have enough time to let my hair down. Half the problems of teenagers appear because we hate doing things. We'd rather go and have fun than sit down and take on our responsibilities. That is why you have so much trouble in your life; your parents won't let you go out with friends because you haven't cleaned your room or your teacher is always criticizing you because you haven't finished your homework.
1.What plays a key role in making teenage life hard according to the writer?
A.The physical changes. B.The lack of life experiences.
C.The poor sense of balance. D.The unfamiliar surroundings.
2.How did the writer feel about her teenage life?

A.Finish their homework. B.Know how they feel.
C.Take on responsibilities. D.Give up their friends.

The winter break is just about to end. Soon we will be back at school. It's with both happiness and sadness. I very much look forward to seeing my friends and starting practice again, but it also means I'm officially halfway through the exchange year. With school starting there are new things to try and experience. For example, I'm starting a new sport, track and field. It's similar to cross-country, which I did from August till November.
Being here for half a year now, I can easily tell the difference between my two schools. The hardest or most different part for me is to have the same schedule every day here. Honestly, I prefer to have different classes every day, as I did in my home country. However, I am attracted to the Friday football games. Football is one of my favorite sports now. Before I came, I knew nothing about it. Now I am addicted to it, especially to watching it with my host parents. I have also been so lucky to go to two college football games.
Before I left school in December, I had a couple of tests called the midterm tests. They all went pretty smoothly, mostly because I didn't have too many hard classes. My favorite course was English, and it was also my hardest one. Personally I really liked English classes, where I could write essays, develop writing skills and improve spoken English.
Only four days of the winter break are left. Part of me wants to be on a break forever, but I also wish to get started again, starting a new sport and seeing my friends and classmates.
24.Why does the author feel sad before school starts again?
A.Her homework is not finished. B.The exchange year will end soon.
C.Her school life will get harder. D.The new sport no longer attracts her.
25.How does the school in the author's home country differ from the one she is in now?
A.The courses are richer. B.The teachers are kinder.
C.The meals are healthier. D.The holidays are longer.
26.What does the author enjoy doing most with the host family?
A.Having a talk in English. B.Playing video games.
C.Watching football matches. D.Visiting her relatives.
27.What does the underlined word “They” in the third paragraph refer to?
A.Classes. B.Tests. C.Games. D.Students.

Researchers at Rice University have offered a new idea to help cities deal with climate change. According to their study, creating networks of “sister cities” can help reduce the damage caused by climate change and natural disasters.
The study, published in the journal Nature and led by Professors Cymene Howe and Dominic Boyer, explores how “sister cities”—similar-sized communities in two different countries with long-term and broad connections—can be beneficial. The first Sister Cities International Program began after World War Ⅱ and traditionally focused on social and political factors such as trade relationships and diplomacy(外交).
However, Professors Howe and Boyer believe that these connections can be powerful tools for helping people deal with climate change, especially as cities face issues like wildfires and extreme storms. They suggest forming a network called “Sister Cities for the Anthropocene” to raise awareness about climate-related disasters in urban communities around the world.
Howe explains, “The purpose of this network is to create relationships and connections that help develop ideas and best practices to address the effects of climate change. This network also considers future challenges. We know that we will face more extreme storms, droughts, and wildfires. We aim to prevent as many of these terrible effects as possible.”
In regions often affected by wildfires and droughts, “sister cities” can learn from other urban communities how to adapt to a hotter, drier future and make plans to adjust. In areas where flooding and the sea level rise increasingly threaten(威胁) residents, “sister cities” can look at the responses of non-governmental organizations or community groups.
Howe notes that while it is encouraging that many people are already talking about climate change, related disasters, and problem-solving measures, this network would build stronger relationships between cities and bring more public attention to the effects of climate change.
28.What do we know about the idea of “sister cities”?
A.It was only put forward recently. B.It was practiced in just one country.
C.It refers to a short-term plan about all the cities.
D.It goes further than the original functions now.
29.What do Howe and Boyer think “sister cities” can do in their network?
A.Reduce the effects of climate change. B.Contribute to the sea level rise.
C.Improve trade relationships. D.Focus on social factors.
30.What does Howe want to say in the last paragraph?
A.People don't care about climate change.
B.Their new network can make a difference.
C.Sister cities should concentrate on storms.
D.Climate issues have got solved completely.
31.Which title is suitable for the text?
A.The Rise of Sister Cities in the World B.Historical Development of Sister Cities
C.Climate Change and Urban Communities
D.The Network of Sister Cities for Climate Action

Thirteen-year-old Kaylee has a lot of friends—532, actually, if you count up her online friends. And she spends a lot of time with them.
But is it possible that Kaylee's online friendship could be making her lonely? That's what some experts believe. Connecting online is a great way to stay in touch, they say. However, some experts worry that many kids are so busy connecting online that they might be missing out on true friendship.
Could this be true? During your parents' childhoods, connecting with friends usually meant spending time with them in the flesh. Kids played Scrabble around a table, not Words With Friends on their phones. When friends missed each other, they picked up the telephone. Friends might even write letters to each other.
Today, most communication takes place online. A typical teenager sends 2,000 texts a month and spends more than 44 hours per week in front of a screen. Much of his time is spent on social media platforms(平台) like Instagram and Facebook.
In fact, in many ways, online communication enables friendship to be stronger. “There's obviously a positive influence. Kids can stay in constant contact, which means they can share more of their feelings with each other,” says Katie Davis, co-author of The App Generation.
Other experts, however, warn that too much online communication can get in the way of forming deep friendship. “If we are constantly checking out our virtual(虚拟的) world, we will be addicted and have little time for our real-world friendship,” says Rosen, a professor at California State University. Rosen also worries that today's kids might mistake the “friends” on social media for true friends in life. However, in tough times, you don't need someone to like your pictures or share your blogs. You need someone who will keep your secrets and hold your hand. You would like to talk face to face.
32.What is the purpose of the first paragraph?
A.To summarize the text. B.To bring up the topic.
C.To encourage online friendship. D.To tell something about true friends.
33.What does the underlined part “in the flesh” mean in Paragraph 3?
A.In any case. B.In person.
C.In a hurry. D.In advance.
34.What is Katie's attitude towards online communication?
A.Positive. B.Unconcerned. C.Confused. D.Worried.
35.What view does Rosen hold?
A.It's wise to turn to online friends. B.It's easier to develop friendships in reality.
C.Social media help people stay closely connected.
D.Teenagers need to focus on real-world friendships.

I couldn't forget the way I froze in front of the class. My teacher, Mr. Liu had divided the class into groups to make speeches. That day was my turn. However, my hands shook so badly that I couldn't read my content. My voice became smaller and smaller. Mr. Liu kindly ended my speech even though I clearly didn't finish. He also asked me to stay after class for a moment.
“Betty, I know you are shy, but you worked so hard on this project. I hate to see you give up on yourself,” Mr. Liu said. “If I give you another chance, do you think you can find courage?” I nodded, grateful for the chance. I went as quickly as I could to my next class, keeping my head down and hoping the school day would end soon.
When I reached home that afternoon, I could see an inviting light coming from the kitchen windows. Mum was baking(烘烤) a cake. She studied my face as I came into the kitchen. “What's wrong, Betty?”
Tears welled up in my eyes. I told her the whole story. Mum was silent for a moment with her hands busy with the cake. “Why is it that you can talk to me about anything and everything but you can't talk to your class?” Mum asked. She set the time right and then said, “Let me show you something.”
I followed her to the bedroom. There she showed me a book filled with pictures. In it there was a blue ribbon(丝带) that said “First Place” and a picture of her at a very young age, standing with her parents.
“I won it in public speaking. I started the school year as the shyest girl on the speech team, but I ended the year as the blue ribbon winner. It wasn't easy at first—I was not sure of myself at all. But I worked hard, and most importantly, I faced my tears. You just need to find your courage.”
