A
The Solar System has eight planets. The planets are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. The planets are all round, like balls. The planets all go around the sun.
Mercury is the closest to the sun. It is very hot on Mercury. The planets that are far away from the sun are very cold. Venus is between Mercury and Earth. It is sometimes called Earth's “sister planet” because they have almost the same size and shape. Earth is the planet where we live. From space, Earth looks blue because it has so much water. Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system. Saturn is known for having rings around it. Uranus was the first planet discovered with a telescope. We can see Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn with our eyes. However, to see Uranus, we need a telescope. Neptune is the 8th planet in our solar system. The planet is farthest from the sun.
Probes go into space and take pictures of the planets. We learn a lot from these pictures. If you could send a probe to any planet, where would you send it?

B
The sun, Earth, and the Solar System are closely related. The sun is a star. It is extremely big and hot in the sky, like a huge ball of fire. It gives us light and heat. Without the sun, there would be no life on Earth. The sun is so large that about one million Earths could fit inside it! It's very far from Earth. Light from the sun takes about eight minutes to reach us.
Earth is a planet(行星). It is the only planet in the Solar System where there is life. Earth goes around the sun. This trip takes one year. Earth also spins around itself. When a part of Earth faces the sun, it is daytime there. When it turns away from the sun, it becomes night. Earth has one moon. The moon goes around Earth, and it affects the tides(潮水)in our oceans.
The Solar System is made up of the sun and the planets that go around it. There are eight planets in the Solar System. Earth is the third planet from the sun. It is not too hot or too cold, and it has air and water. These things make it possible for plants, animals, and people to live here.
Our Earth has different kinds of places, like mountains, rivers, deserts, and forests. About 70% of Earth's surface is covered by water, but most of it is salty ocean water. Only a small part is fresh water that we can drink. Earth also has different climates, from very cold places at the North and South Poles to hot places near the Equator(赤道).

A.jumps B.flies C.turns

A.Earth's fast spin and the moon.
B.Air, water and suitable temperature.
C.Earth's position in the Solar System.
D.The light from other stars in the sky.
( )22.What can we infer from the fact that only a small part of Earth's water is fresh?
A.People should save fresh water.
B.All plants can grow with ocean water.
C.There is no need to protect water.
D.Fresh water will never run out.
( )23.What is the main idea of this passage?
A.To explain how the sun affects Earth's climate.
B.To introduce the sun, Earth, and their roles in the Solar System.
C.To tell readers about the importance of the moon.
D.To show the differences between ocean and fresh water.
