Section Ⅱ Vocabulary & Grammar  复习名词性从句  语法串烧 我的发现   ①What I am learning at university is English literature.My biggest problem is ②that I can't understand the cultural background of many English novels.So ③whether I should go abroad to study has become ④what I'm concerned about.It is clear ⑤that the first practical question is ⑥whether I can offer the tuition fees.I turn to my teacher for help and his suggestion is ⑦that I can get a loan to study abroad. 1.加黑处①、③、⑤引导主语从句,加黑处②、④、⑥、⑦引导表语从句; 2.加黑处⑤使用了it作形式主语,而将真正的主语后置。 一、概念 名词性从句是在句子中起名词作用的句子。名词性从句的功能相当于名词(词组),它在复合句中可以充当主语、宾语、表语、同位语,因此根据它在句中不同的语法功能,名词性从句又可分为主语从句、宾语从句、表语从句和同位语从句。 名词性从句常用的引导词如下: 连词 that,whether,if 连接代词 what,which,who,whom,whose,whatever,whichever,whoever,whomever 连接副词 when,where,why,how,whenever,wherever,however 学生用书第31页 二、名词性从句的类别 (一)主语从句 主语从句是指在复合句中作主语的从句,位置与陈述句的主语相同。 1.that,whether引导的主语从句 (1)that引导主语从句时,在从句中不作任何成分,也没有意义,但不可省略。 (2)that从句作主语时,为避免头重脚轻,使句子平衡,常用it作形式主语,而将主语从句后置。 (3)whether引导主语从句时,在从句中不作任何成分,但有具体的含义,意为“是否”。置于句首时,只能用whether;与or或or not连用时,只能用whether。 (4)it充当形式主语的句型中,whether与if可以互换。 (5)it作形式主语常有下列句型: ①That they should get well prepared for their future is obvious to the students. =It is obvious to the students that they should get well prepared for their future. 显而易见,学生们应该为自己的未来做好准备。 ②Whether the meeting will be held or not depends on the weather. 会议是否举行取决于天气。 ③It is uncertain whether/if he will attend the meeting on time. 他是否会按时参加会议还不确定。 2.连接代词和连接副词引导的主语从句常保留各自的疑问词义 ①What impressed me most was the Space Lab,where visitors could try spacewalk in almost zero gravity. 给我印象最深的是太空实验室,游客可以在几乎零重力的情况下尝试太空行走。 ②Whoever is fond of English and willing to get involved in English performance is preferable. 喜欢英语并愿意参与英语表演的人优先考虑。 ③Which plan is better should be discussed. 应该讨论哪一个计划更好。 ④Where Li Bai,a great Chinese poet,was born is known to the public,but some won't accept it. 中国的伟大诗人李白的出生地众所周知,但有些人还不认可。 ⑤How he can learn to appreciate Chinese culture remains an important goal for him. 学会如何欣赏中国文化对他来说仍然是一个重要目标。 ⑥Why the fire broke out is still unknown. =It is still unknown why the fire broke out. 人们仍然不知道这场火灾为何会发生。 [即学即练1]  单句语法填空/完成句子 ①Whether you'll achieve your ambition or not depends on how hard you will work. ②Exactly when the potato was introduced into Europe is uncertain,but it was probably around 1565. ③It's well-known that knowledge is treasure and practice is the key to success. ④What really matters is whether it comes from your inner heart. ⑤她犯了这样一个愚蠢的错误,真是遗憾。 It is a pity that she has made such a silly mistake. 学生用书第32页 (二)宾语从句 在主从复合句中作宾语的从句叫宾语从句。宾语从句在句中可以作及物动词、介词或一些形容词的宾语。 1.作及物动词或介词的宾语 ①Mr Smith,manager of the department,decided to assign the important task to whoever had a strong sense of responsibility. 部门经理史密斯先生决定把这项重要任务交给责任心强的人。 ②Since you are wondering where you should spend your holiday,I'd like to recommend that you travel in Sichuan Province.(推荐信) 既然您在考虑应该去哪里度假,我想建议您去四川省旅游。 ③She asked me whose handwriting was the best in the class. 她问我谁的书法是班上最好的。 ④I wonder whether/if they will come to our party.我想知道他们是否会来参加我们的聚会。 ⑤A modern city has been set up in what was once a wasteland. 一座现代城市已经在曾是废墟的地方建起来了。 2.it作形式宾语 ①The new headmaster has made it a rule that all the teachers and students should participate in the recreational and sports activities actively. 新校长规定,全体师生应积极参加文体活动。 ②I hate it when people ask me for money. 我不喜欢别人向我要钱。 ③I would appreciate it if you could consider my application. 如果您能考虑我的申请,我将不胜感激。 3.在“主语(人)+be+形容词(表示“相信、推测、怀疑、判断、盼望、认识到”等意义)+that...”结构中,that从句为宾语从句。这类形容词常见的有:sure,certain,confident,afraid,anxious,eager,aware等。 ①I'm more than delighted that I will attend the International Cultural Exchange Conference to be held in London next month.(咨询信) 我将出席下个月在伦敦举行的国际文化交流大会,对此我感到非常高兴。 ② I was certain that love was quite enough to conquer our difference. 我确信爱足以消除我们的分歧。 【名师点津】 (1)当and 连接两个或者两个以上that引导的宾语从句时,只有第一个宾语从句可省略that,后面的宾语从句中的that不能省略。 I hope (that) my suggestions are of great help to you and that your life will be back to normal soon. 希望我的建议对你有很大的帮助,并希望你的生活能尽快恢复正常。 (2)作介词宾语、与or not或动词不定式连用时,只用whether不用if。 I can't say whether or not they can come tomorrow.我不敢说他们明天是否能来。 [即学即练2] 单句语法填空/完成句子 ①Please let me know whether the time is suitable for you or not. ②I believe you have done your best and that things will improve. ③After what happened yesterday,Hilda knew what she was doing.(2024·九省联考) 学生用书第33页 ④我们发现每天练习英语口语是有必要的。 We find it necessary that we practise spoken English every day.
