My first day in high school will never be forgotten. When I got to the classroom in the morning, I saw that Mr. Brown had already put our names on our tables. After walking a few steps, I saw my name on the table right in the middle of the classroom. As I walked up to my table, my heart sang. “It would be great to sit there. I could see everything easily,” I thought to myself.
A while later, the other students entered one by one and took their own seats. And then Mr. Brown started talking. He showed us his classroom rules and tried to explain them. All of a sudden, a student called Tony started singing loudly. All the while he moved his body to the music. His desk mate Josh couldn’t understand why he was doing these things. Then he stood up and talked to Mr. Brown, “I don’t want to sit with this strange guy. Can I swap seats with someone else in this room, please?”
Mr. Brown didn’t answer his question directly. He stopped what he was doing and turned on his computer. Then he showed us some pictures about autistic (患自闭症的) kids. He explained that autistic kids have little self-control. They seem to do things that are beyond everyone else’s understanding. However, they can do many other great things, in the field of art or music for example. Then he told us that Tony was not good at maths, but loved songs. “He can sing thousands of songs. What’s more surprising is that he can remember all the words without any mistakes.” In the end, Mr. Brown added that although autistic kids were different, they should be loved.
Since that first day in high school, I became Mr. Brown’s admirer (崇拜者). I was pretty sure Mr. Brown would get all of us on the right track.

Leafy vegetables are widely considered to be a healthy and tasty food choice, and eating enough leafy greens supports overall health. Now “Dinosaur time” is a popular online trend (趋势) that is helping all kinds of people, from busy moms to picky kids, get the leafy greens their bodies need.
The trend originated with Amy Garrett, a former middle school science teacher and stay-at-home mom, who shared her unusual way to eat vegetables with her nearly 50,000 followers. In her videos, she eats leafy greens without preparing them or putting them in a salad. Instead, she eats them like a dinosaur, often with dinosaur-related music playing in the background.
Garrett’s videos are welcomed by those who want to eat more healthily but don’t always have the time to cut up and prepare their vegetables. In a video, Garrett explains that salads take a long time to make and eat. Rather than having a salad as a full meal, she uses “Dinosaur time” to add vegetables before her lunch.
It isn’t just adults getting inspired by “Dinosaur time”. Young children naturally enjoy pretending to be dinosaurs and parents are taking advantage of their little ones’ imaginations to encourage them to eat more healthily, using this fun trend. Alexis Chase, a mom of two, shared that after her 12-year-old saw her trying “Dinosaur time”, he said, “I believe I can eat those vegetables faster than you.” And she replied, “No, you can’t.” In this way, her family is encouraged to eat their vegetables.
While this trend is great, people who’re at risk of kidney stones (肾结石) should be careful, and those who’re on blood thinners should ask their doctors for advice before changing their diet. Eating vegetables is a time-tested way to get nutrients (营养物) fast.

及第三段“Garrett’s videos are welcomed by those who want to eat more healthily but don’t always have the time to cut up and prepare their vegetables. In a video, Garrett explains that salads take a long time to make and eat. Rather than having a salad as a full meal, she uses ‘Dinosaur time’ to add vegetables before her lunch.
根据第三段“Garrett’s videos are welcomed by those who want to eat more healthily but don’t always have the time to cut up and prepare their vegetables. In a video, Garrett explains that salads take a long time to make and eat. Rather than having a salad as a full meal, she uses ‘Dinosaur time’ to add vegetables before her lunch. In recent years, the world has seen a growing interest in green technology as a way to fight climate change. One promising development is the rise of solar-powered devices, which use sunlight to generate electricity without producing harmful emissions.
Solar energy is not a new idea, but recent advances in technology have made it more efficient and affordable. Modern solar panels (太阳能板) can change up to 25% of sunlight into electricity, compared to just 15% a decade ago. This has made solar power a viable choice for both households and businesses.
One of the biggest advantages of solar energy is its sustainability Unlike fossil fuels, which are finite and will eventually run out, sunlight is a renewable resource that will be available for billions of years. Solar power doesn’t generate greenhouse gases when it’s being used, so it’s a clean choice compared to coal and natural gas.
However, there are still challenges to overcome. The initial cost of installing (安装) solar panels can be high, and solar energy production depends on weather conditions. In addition, if not handled correctly, making and getting rid of solar panels can harm the environment.
Despite these challenges, many countries are investing heavily in solar energy. China, for example, is the world’s largest producer of solar panels and has set ambitious goals to increase its use of renewable energy. By 2030, China aims to have solar power account for 20% of its total electricity generation.
As technology continues to improve and costs continue to fall, solar energy will probably become more and more important in the world’s shift to a future with low carbon emissions.
12. What does the underlined word “viable” in paragraph 2 probably mean?
A. Unreliable. B. Expensive. C. Risky. D. Practical.
13. What is one of the challenges solar energy faces?
A. It produces too much greenhouse gas. B. It is not available in many countries.
C. It has a high initial installation cost. D. It is less efficient than fossil fuels.
14. What can we infer about China’s attitude towards solar energy?
A. China has stopped producing fossil fuels.
B. China is uncertain about the future of solar power.
C. China is taking active steps to promote solar energy.
D. China relies heavily on solar power for electricity.
15. What is the best title for the text?
A. The Future of Solar Energy B. Climate Change and Its Solutions
C. China’s Renewable Energy Goals D. How to Install Solar Panels at Home
D 13. C 14. C 15. A
根据第二段“Modern solar panels can change up to 25% of sunlight into electricity, compared to just 15% a decade ago. This has made solar power a viable choice for both households and businesses.(现代太阳能板能将高达25%的阳光转化为电能,而十年前这一比例仅为15%。这使得太阳能对于家庭和企业来说成为一种____选择)”可知,太阳能板转化效率提高,对家庭和企业而言应是实用的选择。
【13题详解】
细节理解题。根据第四段“The initial cost of installing solar panels can be high, and solar energy production depends on weather conditions. In addition, if not handled correctly, making and getting rid of solar panels can harm the environment.(安装太阳能板的初始成本可能很高,而且太阳能的产生依赖于天气条件。此外,如果处理不当,制造和处理太阳能板会对环境造成危害)”可知,太阳能面临的挑战之一是初始安装成本高。
【14题详解】
推理判断题。从第五段“China, for example, is the world’s largest producer of solar panels and has set ambitious goals to increase its use of renewable energy. By 2030, China aims to have solar power account for 20% of its total electricity generation.(例如,中国是世界上最大的太阳能板生产国,并设定了雄心勃勃的目标来增加可再生能源的使用。
所以A选项“The Future of Solar Energy(太阳能的未来)”最适合作为文章标题。

4. How did the author feel when seeing his table?
A. Annoyed. B. Upset.
C. Excited. D. Unhappy.
5. What did Mr. Brown do in the class first?

D. He had a mathematical mind.
7. What does the author think of Mr. Brown?

B. He has too many admirers.
C. He is a great teacher.
D. He is too different to be loved.

8. What is the main purpose of “Dinosaur time”?
A. To promote vegetable sales.
B. To teach dinosaur knowledge.
C. To attract social media followers.
D. To help people eat greens more easily.
9. What is the advantage of “Dinosaur time” over salads?
A. It provides more nutrients. B. It costs less money.
C. It requires less time. D. It tastes better.
10. How does Alexis Chase encourage her child?
A. By creating competition. B. By setting examples.
C. By offering awards. D. By making rules.
11. What can be inferred about the “Dinosaur time” trend from the last paragraph?
A. It helps to treat diseases. B. It isn’t suitable for everyone.
C. It needs special preparation. D. It is well accepted globally.
D
