I. Teaching aims and learning objectives

1. Language Competence

● Students can understand and master connecting words and phrases: both … and …, not only … but (also) …, either … or …, neither … nor …, except, as well as.

● Students can master subject‑verb agreement rules when these connectors link two subjects.

● Be able to use these connecting words to make sentences and finish exercises about personalities and jobs.

1. Show different job pictures on PPT: painter, doctor, teacher, engineer.

2. Teacher reads English riddles one by one. Students look at the pictures and guess the jobs as quickly as possible.

‑ Riddle 1: He is both creative and careful. He can create great works of art. Who is he?

‑ Riddle 2: She is not only patient but also responsible. She always helps sick people. Who is she?

‑ Riddle 3: Neither lazy nor careless people can do difficult engineering work well. Who are they?
