三、阅读理解。
Ada Lovelace: The First Computer Programmer
You might think that the first computer programmer was a man, but you'd be wrong. Ada Lovelace, a young woman from England, is widely regarded as the first person to write a computer program.
Ada was born in 1815. Her father was a famous poet, but Ada was more interested in math and science. When she was 17, she met Charles Babbage, a mathematician who was working on a machine called the Analytical Engine. This machine was designed to solve complex math problems.
Ada was fascinated by Babbage's idea. She began to work with him, writing down detailed notes about how the machine worked. She even wrote a plan for how the machine could calculate a sequence of numbers called Bernoulli numbers. This plan is now considered the first computer program.
Ada didn't live to see the Analytical Engine built. She died in 1852 when she was only 36. But her work was not forgotten. In the 1950s, her notes were rediscovered, and she was recognized as the first computer programmer. Today, a programming language called Ada is named after her.
Ada Lovelace showed that women could make important contributions to science and technology. Her story inspires young people, especially girls, to pursue their interests in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
( ) 21. Who is regarded as the first computer programmer?
A. Charles Babbage. B. Ada Lovelace. C. A famous poet. D. A mathematician.
