Steven Chu is a famous Chinese-American scientist. He was born in the United States in 1948, but his family always told him, "You are Chinese. Your hometown is Suzhou."
Steven grew up in a family of smart people. His parents and brothers were all excellent students. However, Steven felt he was just a "black sheep" in the family. In the ninth grade, he even stopped going to school for a few months because he couldn't stand the pressure.
Luckily, his parents didn't force him to give up. They gave him the freedom to find what he loved. As a child, Steven liked to take things apart and play with small parts on the floor. His mother never asked him to clean them up. This free environment helped him grow. Later, he chose to study physics, even though his father thought it was too difficult to succeed in this field.
Steven worked hard for 20 years. Finally, in 1997, he won the Nobel Prize in Physics for his amazing research. However, he stayed very calm. He told his students, "I am still the same person. I will still go to class as usual."
In 1998, at the age of 50, Steven made an important decision. He returned to Suzhou, China, for the first time. Standing on the land of his hometown, he felt very moved. He said, "Although I was born in America, I am completely Chinese."

【解析】 根据文章第二段最后一句“In the ninth grade, he even stopped going to school for a few months because he couldn't stand the pressure.”
- A选项错误:文章第一句明确说“He was born in the United States in 1948”(他出生在美国)。
- B选项错误:文章第二段说“Steven felt he was just a 'black sheep' in the family.”,说明他以前成绩并不拔尖。
【解析】 根据文章第三段前两句“Luckily, his parents didn't force him to give up. They gave him the freedom to find what he loved.”
首尾呼应: 文章最后一段点明主旨:“Steven's story tells us that everyone has their own talent...”
B(物理的重要性)和 D(如何回乡):均不是文章核心话题。
