Step2 Reading & Analyze the model letter
1. Students read Simon’s recommendation letter (D2) silently.
2. Analyze the five‑part structure of the letter:
① Address your reader 称呼
② Explain the purpose of your letter 写信目的
③ Explain why you are recommending the person 推荐理由(qualities + examples)
④ State the result you hope for 期望
⑤ Conclude with a sign‑off and your name 结束语和署名
3. Find formal language rules: No short forms like I’m, he’s.
4. Study the useful expressions in D3, read them aloud.
Step3 Prepare writing: Make a mind‑map
Activity: Draw a mind‑map
1. Work in pairs. Choose one classmate and think about his / her good qualities for a class position (monitor / study group leader).
2. Complete a simple mind‑map: qualities + facts/examples.
3. Invite some pairs to share their mind‑maps in class.
Step4 Writing Task D3
1. Students write the recommendation letter individually, using the model letter and useful expressions as help.
Requirements:
‑Follow the correct letter structure
‑Use formal language
‑List qualities with real examples
2. Teacher walks around the classroom and gives guidance.
3. Peer‑correction: Exchange letters, check structure, expressions and grammar mistakes.

教学札记:
Most students can master the letter structure and use the key expressions. They can list personal qualities with mind‑maps. A few students still mix informal short forms in formal writing. More reading and imitating practice should be done later. Most students can finish their own recommendation letters with examples.
