人教版选择性必修一Unit 2 将来进行时教案
I.Key Points and Difficult Points
1. Key Point: The basic structure and core usages of the future progressive tense — describing an action in progress at a future moment and talking about pre-arranged plans.
2. Difficult Points: The distinction between the simple future tense and the future progressive tense; the use of the future progressive tense to express a polite tone.
II. Teaching Methods
Contrastive analysis, task-based learning, and group work.
III. Teaching Procedures
Step 1 Lead-in (5 minutes)
The teacher writes two sentences on the board and asks students to read them aloud and think: Do they mean the same thing? What different impressions do they give?
① In the future, we will use advanced technology every day for automatic control of just about everything in our home.
② In the future, we will be using advanced technology every day for automatic control of just about everything in our home.
Design purpose: The contrast between the two tenses in the same sentence gives students a direct first impression and arouses their curiosity for the new lesson.
Step 2 Discovery and Analysis (15 minutes)
Activity 1 Contrast and Analyse
Students discuss the difference between the two sentences in groups. The teacher guides them to summarise:
The simple future tense simply tells us that something will happen in the future. It is often used for predictions or firm promises. The future progressive tense is used to talk about a future habit or routine, or something that one expects will happen in the normal course of things, such as events on a planned schedule. It can also be used for an action that takes a long time, especially when contrasted with a shorter action.
Activity 2 Rewrite and Compare
Students find more sentences using the future progressive tense from the unit and rewrite them using the simple future tense to feel the difference again:
(1) ...we will be living in smart homes...
(2) ...we will be using advanced technology every day...
(3) In addition, your smart home will be monitoring your health for you every day.
(4) Smart toilets will be keeping constant track of your health as well.
Summary 1: The simple future tense tends to express the speaker's personal will or intention about a future event, while the future progressive tense suggests that the development is an inevitable trend, more objective and carrying a sense of expectation.
Step 3 Self-directed Study and Practice (20 minutes)
Activity 1 Reading and Multiple Choice
Read the passage about Jack's daily routine and choose the correct answer according to the given time points.
Jack goes to school every weekday. He leaves home at 6:45 and arrives at school at about 7:30. His morning classes begin at 8:00 o'clock and continue until 12:15. Then he has lunch, which takes about half an hour. His classes begin again at 1:30 in the afternoon and end at 3:50. He goes to the school's football club at 4:30 and finishes practice at 6:00. He arrives home at about 6:45. Every day he follows the same routine and tomorrow will be no exception.
(1) At 6:30 a.m. tomorrow, ___
A. he'll be leaving the house. B. he'll be at home.
(2) At 8:10 a.m. tomorrow, ___

A. he'll be practising football. B. he'll practise football.
(5) At 6:45 p.m. tomorrow, ___

(5) I guess most parents ______ (support) the new plan at the meeting tomorrow.
