Part A 阅读理解
Chinamaxxing: Foreign Youth Embrace Chinese-Style Living
The trend "Chinamaxxing" has swept across TikTok and Instagram. Foreign young people are now actively living a Chinese-style life: drinking warm water, soaking their feet in herbal baths, practicing Baduanjin in parks, and wearing cotton slippers indoors. Millions of content creators share their daily routines of Chinese-style health care, and the related hashtag has gained over 4 billion views worldwide.
Why has this trend become so popular? Many young foreigners say they feel tired of the fast-paced, screen-heavy Western lifestyle. They find Chinese health traditions surprisingly effective and comforting. "I used to drink ice water all year round," says 22-year-old American blogger Jake Miller. "After switching to warm water, my stomach problems disappeared. It sounds simple, but it changed my life."
Baduanjin, an ancient Chinese exercise routine, has become particularly popular. Every morning, groups of foreigners can be seen practicing these slow, flowing movements in city parks. "It looks easy, but it is surprisingly challenging," laughs Emma, a college student from Germany. "After two weeks, I sleep better and feel more energized. It is much more relaxing than running on a treadmill."
Foot-soaking has also gone global. Young people are buying electric foot baths and traditional Chinese herbs online. "Soaking my feet before bed is the most relaxing part of my day," shares French influencer Chloe. "It helps me unwind and sleep deeply."
Even indoor slippers have become a status symbol. "Wearing outdoor shoes inside now feels strange to me," says British teacher Tom. "Cotton slippers make my home feel cozy and clean."
Experts say Chinamaxxing reflects a deeper shift in global youth culture. "Young people everywhere are searching for slower, more intentional ways of living," explains cultural researcher Dr. Li Wei. "Chinese traditions offer practical, time-tested methods for wellness that do not require expensive equipment or apps."
In the end, Chinamaxxing is not just about copying Chinese habits. It is about finding balance in a hectic world — one warm cup of water at a time.
1. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. Chinese culture is only popular among Chinese people.
B. Chinamaxxing is a popular trend where foreign youth embrace Chinese-style health and lifestyle habits.
C. Western lifestyles are healthier than Chinese traditions.
D. Young people should completely abandon digital devices.
2. According to the passage, why do foreign young people choose Chinamaxxing?
A. Because they are forced by their parents to follow Chinese traditions.
B. Because they feel tired of fast-paced, screen-heavy lifestyles and find Chinese health traditions effective.
C. Because Chinese habits are required by their doctors.
D. Because they want to become famous on TikTok.
3. What does the underlined word "unwind" in Paragraph 4 probably mean?
A. To become more nervous. B. To relax and calm down.
C. To exercise more intensely. D. To drink more water.
4. Which of the following is NOT mentioned as part of Chinamaxxing?
A. Drinking warm water instead of ice water.
B. Practicing Baduanjin in city parks.
C. Buying expensive fitness equipment from China.
D. Soaking feet in herbal baths before bed.
5. What can we infer from Dr. Li Wei's words in the last paragraph?
A. Chinese traditions are too old-fashioned for modern youth.
B. Chinamaxxing reflects young people's desire for slower, more intentional living.
C. Only Chinese people can benefit from these traditions.
D. Expensive apps are necessary for wellness.
Part B 完形填空
Puppy Court: Where Every Dog is "Not Guilty"
Like millions of viewers, I used to feel stressed after a long day of studying. Then I discovered Puppy Court, a funny online series that has gone viral on TikTok. The show features a judge who watches videos of naughty dogs making messes. Even when there is clear evidence, the judge always rules the dog "not guilty."
The first episode I watched was about a golden retriever 1 had destroyed a sofa. The evidence was undeniable — feathers everywhere, torn cushions, and a very 2 dog sitting in the middle of the chaos. The judge watched the video with a serious expression, then suddenly smiled and said, "The defendant was clearly trying to redecorate. Not guilty!"
I was 3 by the judge's creativity. He always comes up with the most 4 excuses for the dogs. A dog that ate an entire cake? "Quality control testing." A puppy that dug up the garden? "Landscape improvement services." Every verdict is more 5 than the last.
What makes Puppy Court truly special is its 6 effect on viewers. After watching just ten minutes, I always feel 7 and 8 . The stress of exams and homework seems to disappear. "It is the most
9 show I have ever watched," says my classmate Lily. "It never fails to make me 10 ."
The series has also inspired a larger conversation about how we judge others. "We are so quick to blame and criticize," the judge said in one episode. "But sometimes, we need to look at things from a different angle. Maybe that "guilty" puppy was just having a bad day."
His words really 11 me. I realized I had been too 12 with myself and others. I decided to be more 13 and understanding. Just like the judge gives every dog a second chance, I should give myself and my friends the same kindness.
Now, whenever I feel 14 or overwhelmed, I open Puppy Court. It reminds me that life does not always have to be serious. Sometimes, the best medicine is a good laugh and a forgiving heart. After all, the choices we make today 15 who we become tomorrow — and I choose to be kind.
