She became the third woman worldwide and the first Chinese woman to win the Fields Medal, widely regarded as the Nobel Prize for mathematics. Wang spent her childhood in Guilin in the 1990s. Her parents were both schoolteachers, yet they never burdened her with academic pressure. She enjoyed reading storybooks, playing ball games and walking around Guilin’s scenic hills with her family. Even with various hobbies, math shone brightest. She finished all exercises in new textbooks before each semester and bought extra math books to solve all problems. She showed remarkable natural talent for math from an early age. At six, she solved a tricky geometry brainteaser faster than her math-teacher father. She loved math for its permanence. In middle school, Wang set her sights on majoring in mathematics at Peking University, but later failed to get the only provincial math admission spot and entered Peking University as an earth sciences student. Encouraged by her professor, she transferred to the math department, but hesitated between analysis and algebra for long. Her father then casually said analysis was easier than algebra. Still, determined not to let others’ casual remarks shape her final decision, Wang settled on algebra as her research focus, refusing to be swayed by outside opinions. In 2011, Wang pursued further study at France’s Ecole Polytechnique without knowing French. She overcame language difficulties and once tried architecture for one semester, but soon returned to math research. She stopped worrying about her ability and kept learning earnestly. Following Wang Hong’s award, a heart-warming scene circulated in news reports: her French supervisor Professor Lefevre stood by the doorway, watching her academic sharing session lovingly, with great relief and kindness. In his high praise for Wang Hong, the professor noted that few students could remain calm in the face of setbacks as she did. By winning the 2026 Fields Medal, she has proved that constant devotion can turn mathematical dreams into reality, blazing a trail for female researchers in mathematics. 24. What can we learn about Wang Hong as a child? A. She was the brightest girl from an early age. B. She displayed an exceptional inborn gift for math. C. Her outdoor hobbies prevented her from focusing on math. D. She worked out math problems with the assistance of her father. 25. Why did Wang finally choose algebra as her research focus? A. A tutor suggested algebra suited her strengths. B. Algebra was less difficult than analysis. C. She stuck to independent judgment. D. She had deep passion for algebra. 26. Which words best describe Wang Hong? A. Determined and persistent. B. Outgoing and sociable. C. Creative and modest. D. Ambitious and competent. 27. Where is the text probably taken from? A. A science fiction. B. Her autobiography. C. Daily newspaper. D. An academic journal. C Travellers have long feared being swallowed into the peatlands (泥炭地): “If his foot slips… it is possible he may never more be heard of,” described William Gilpin in 1772. But now the image of this ecosystem finally turns a corner. UNESCO has recognized the Flow Country as a world heritage (遗产) site-the first peatland to make the list-due to its natural characteristics: the remarkable variety of plants and animals that live there. It’s also recognized that these peatlands are not humankind’s enemy but an important partner in the fight against climate crisis. Peat has formed in the Flow Country for 8,000 years, trapping carbon. It’s vital this carbon stays to avoid further global heating. The Flow Country was chosen for its natural heritage not cultural significance, which comes as a welcome contrast to the vast majority of the UK’s other world heritage sites. Prioritising culture might make sense for places like Stonehenge or Durham Cathedral, but the Lake District? Not so much. The Lake District National Park is remarkable for its natural geography: deep valleys, uneven peaks and icy lakes. People have long shaped the area, but their impact is just a thin layer on a remarkably splendid landscape. Yet, when the park gained world heritage status in 2017, it was largely upon the basis of its relatively recent tradition of sheep farming. The decision reflected how the English perceive the natural world. But the recognition of the Flow Country looks even more profound. It represents a change not only in our perception of peatlands but of nature itself. Unlike the Lake District, it prioritises not sheep, but moss (苔藓). This approach aligns with the growing movement to recognise the rights of nature: to reframe the natural world as something more than a collection of raw materials. None of that is to ignore humans’ role in the Flow Country but we should recognize that no landscape in the UK can be considered in isolation from its culture, while also remembering that the human story never unfolds alone. 28. Why does the author quote William Gilpin in paragraph 1? A. To illustrate the author’s point. B. To give a scientific explanation. C. To provide historical background. D. To present a common partial view. 29. For what was the Flow Country recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site? A. Climate benefit and natural value. B. Beautiful scenery and conservation efforts. C. Geographical uniqueness and rare species. D. Educational significance and cultural value. 30. What does the underlined phrase “aligns with” in paragraph 4 mean? A. Addresses. B. Matches. C. Challenges. D. Outweighs. 31. What is the text mainly about? A. The formation of the Flow Country. B. The recognition of the Lake District. C. The long-overdue respect for peatlands. D. The conservation difficulties of peatlands. D Wild chimpanzees are known to consume a broad range of plant matter, making it hard for researchers to figure out whether chimpanzees intentionally seek out medicinal plants to heal (治愈) themselves, or “passively” consume plants that happen to be medicinal. At the Budongo Central Forest Reserve in Uganda, researchers from the University of Oxford observed the behaviors and health of 51 wild chimpanzees, belonging to two habituated communities. The researchers observed a male chimpanzee with an injured hand seek out and eat the leaves of a fern, which may have helped to reduce pain and swelling. They also recorded another sick chimpanzee consuming a cat-thorn tree. The team also tested the plant species in the reserve, which they suspected were being consumed by the chimpanzees to self-medicate, for anti-inflammatory (抗炎) and antibacterial (抗菌) characteristics. The species included plants not part of the chimpanzees’ normal diet, but being consumed for their healing characteristics. The authors found 88% of the plant species had antibacterial characteristics, arresting the growth of bacteria, while 33% of them had anti-inflammatory characteristics. Deadwood from a tree in the Dogbane family showed the strongest antibacterial activity and also had anti-inflammatory characteristics, suggesting it could be used to treat wounds, they said. Roots from the East African mahogany tree and leaves from fern were found to exhibit potential anti-inflammatory effects. The results suggested that chimpanzees looked for and ate specific plants for their medicinal effects, and the study was one of the first to document evidence of this kind, the authors said. Team member Fabien Schultz hopes that the findings might lead to promising candidates for human medicines. “What if human lives can be saved by following the ways of our animal relatives?” he says. 32. Why is it challenging to determine if chimpanzees intentionally seek out medicinal plants? A. Medicinal plants are rare in the forest. B. Chimpanzees consume a wide variety of plant matter. C. Chimpanzees hide themselves when they are sick or injured. D. Researchers can hardly observe chimpanzees in the thick forest. 33. Which of the following might have the most powerful antibacterial effects? A. Dogbane trees. B. Leaves of ferns. C. Cat-thorn trees. D. East African mahogany tree roots. 34. What potential benefit does Fabien Schultz hope to achieve from the findings? A. Identifying new human medicines. B. Developing new animal care techniques. C. Improving chimpanzee health in the wild. D. Discovering new food sources for humans. 35. What is the best title for the text? A. The Diet of Wild Chimpanzees B. The Medicinal Characteristics of Plants C. The Dietary Habits of Wild Chimpanzees D. Chimpanzees Using Plants for Self-Medication 第二节(共5小题:每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 In China’s journey to become a manufacturing powerhouse, the spirit of craftsmanship shines. Take the engineers behind the Tiangong space station, for instance — they spent years perfecting docking parts with millimeter accuracy. High-speed rail workers test each component repeatedly until failure is virtually impossible, while deep-sea equipment designers insist on flawless welding (焊接). It is, for them, a belief and pursuit of excellence. 36 No wonder behind every great achievement lies the spirit of craftsmanship: focus, responsibility, dedication, and meticulousness (细致). 37 Machines can work with high consistency, but humans are irreplaceable in ultra-precise high-tech fields like semiconductor production, where even a tiny flaw (瑕疵) can ruin a whole batch of chips. 38 In aerospace and medical devices, human judgment spots unpredictable problems that machines cannot. That is why skilled workers remain the core of innovation. How can one develop such a mindset? 39 Much like a master watchmaker perfecting a watch repeatedly, modern professionals must keep refining their skills. They should treat every imperfection as a chance to improve, not a reason to stop. After all, craftsmanship is not built in a day. 40 Only by pursuing lifelong learning and constant self-development can they adapt to ever-advancing technology. Thus, in the world’s most advanced industries, the delicate cooperation between humans and machines will give birth to products that are safe, reliable and truly world-class, fully demonstrating the enduring power of craftsmanship. A. With such skills and care, progress continues. B. These are things that machines cannot replace. C. Instead, it grows through small, steady improvements. D. This is not the only case where human expertise matters. E. It represents a mindset of precision, patience, and dedication F. Such demands not only technical skill but also great patience. G. It is fostered through persistent practice and unceasing refinement. 第三部分:语言知识运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15小题:每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 In the 1980s, I first encountered tai chi in Dundonald Park. I defined fitness as 43 and strength. Moving slowly did not build muscles, so I chose to 44 myself from the practice. Still, the 45 stayed with me, a seed planted. After retirement, with a doctor’s recommendation, I returned to that park, no longer a watcher but inside the group, 46 moving toward the growth once seeded long ago. My early 47 were discouraging. I joined one class, then left; joined another, and 48 , failing to complete the routines. I assumed that mastering tai chi meant memorizing all the 49 . But I soon learned otherwise: What needed mastering were my own habits — impatience, resistance to correction. Everything changed in my first expert-led class. Surrounded by 50 learners, I felt like a beginner when the instructor 51 singled me out for instruction. Though embarrassed, I listened attentively, watched closely and 52 myself to move by copying him. Ultimately, this focus helped 53 my embarrassment. Diligent and practical, Henry devoted nearly all his energy to grain crops and livestock, struggling to keep the farm running well and ease the burdens of the whole family. Meanwhile, Grandma Elisa poured her spare time and inner warmth into their small garden in front of the farmhouse, with delicate purple violets (紫罗兰) as her greatest comfort amid tiresome farm labor. Though Henry never disliked his grandmother’s violets, he rarely paid attention to the details of her gardening. Whenever she talked excitedly about pinching buds or protecting young seedlings, he would nod politely yet quickly shift the conversation to farm harvests. Grandma Elisa had long hoped to own several delicate earthen pots or wooden planters for her violets, and she had mentioned her small wish to Henry once or twice before. Yet his mind was always occupied with field work. Unwilling to add more pressure to the hard-working young man, Grandma Elisa never brought it up again, so she had to settle for some old cardboard boxes to hold her seedlings. One mid-autumn morning, when a stranger passing by stopped to admire her violets and ask about her planting experience with curiosity, she was overjoyed to finally meet someone who appreciated her flowers. For the first time, someone listened carefully to her love for the garden. Overjoyed, Grandma Elisa filled her only clay pot with thriving violet seedlings and gifted them to him, patiently listing tips to help the plants take root and grow. Later that afternoon, Henry and Grandma Elisa set out for their long-awaited dinner in town, which was a small reward for their months of busy labor. After the nice feast, their car was rolling along the road towards home when Grandma suddenly caught sight of her tender seedlings, already drooping (凋萎) badly, tossed carelessly into roadside weeds, while the empty clay pot had been taken away. All her joy faded instantly. Holding no anger toward the stranger, only grief that her sincere fondness for flowers had been disregarded, she fell silent and did not utter a single word for the rest of the trip. 注意: (1)续写词数应为150个左右; (2)请按如下格式在答题纸的相应位置作答。 Noticing Grandma’s gloomy face, Henry wondered what the matter was. Early the next morning, Henry came back with something in his hands. 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
