His stall, located outside a junior high school, sells ordinary six-yuan chicken cutlets, but it’s his comedic salesmanship that draws crowds. With the timing of a seasoned performer, Li jokes, “The chicken is free, but the plastic bag costs six yuan,” earning him the nickname “chicken cutlet curator.” Netizens say the snack offers not just food, but “60 yuan’s worth of laughter.” Consistency and Warmth Rain or shine, Li works late into the night, serving students, office workers, and pensioners. His warmth and consistency have built a loyal customer base. He greets patrons as “old friends,” remembers their orders, and even offers schoolchildren a one-yuan discount after 4: 30 p. m. Despite exhaustion and sleepless nights due to his sudden fame, Li remains dedicated: “I can’t let those waiting in line down.” Official Recognition and Authenticity Li’s authenticity has not only won public admiration but also official endorsement. On September 29th, Jingdezhen’s culture bureau appointed him “Cultural and Tourism Ambassador,” reflecting the government’s trend of co-opting grassroots influencers for city promotion. His unpolished charm resonates in an era of curated online content, embodying everyday resilience. While internet fame is often fleeting, Li remains focused on his work, proving that joy— and success— can come from a humble chicken cutlet served with a smile. A Jingdezhen street vendor’s viral success stems from his stand-up comedy sales style. His unscripted humor and genuine warmth contrast with polished influencers, resonating with modern consumers. This phenomenon reflects a cultural shift where authenticity trumps perfection, demonstrating how ordinary individuals can redefine public engagement through relatable content. 1. What is the main reason for Li Junyong’s sudden popularity on Douyin? A. The low price of his chicken cutlets. B. The high quality of the food he sells. C. His humorous way of selling. D. His stall’s location near a school. 2. The author mentions Li’s “exhaustion and sleepless nights” to show that _________. A. his business is not profitable enough B. he is too old to work long hours C. he remains committed despite challenges D. the government should provide him with help 3. What overall cultural shift does the phenomenon of Li Junyong reflect? A. People now prefer expensive and perfect online content. B. Authenticity is becoming more valued than polished perfection. C. Stand-up comedy is the most effective way to sell products. D. Only young people can become successful internet influencers. B The first time I went to Germany with my boyfriend, I was very young and hadn’t been to many places. As soon as we arrived, I had this incredible revelation.“I know all about this area. The food, the language. I know all about the Schwarzwald, the Black Forest,”I said to his German family.“How do you know about this?” they asked, in disbelief. That was the first time it dawned on me how much I knew about the rest of the world, and how prepared I was for it, just from growing up in New York City — that I had been everywhere before I’d ever actually gone anywhere. I grew up in the Chelsea Projects, 288 10th Avenue at 26th Street. A lot of kids there were first generation Americans with immigrant parents who were still speaking Yiddish or Chinese or Portuguese, or just name a language, and they were speaking it. You ate every imaginable food from the rest of the world there. You were exposed to all different kinds of traditions. It wasn’t just that. The whole city was a classroom. All over town, you learned stuff you didn’t even know you were learning. You didn’t have to be rich to learn it, either. My mom was a teacher — a great Head Start teacher — and she made sure I partook of everything New York had to offer people who didn’t have any money, because she knew it was the greatest education in the world. We went to all the museums, which were free back then. We’d ride the bus to Lincoln Center, before it was Lincoln Center, and watch dancers dancing there. Or we’d take the train to Coney Island. Those trips are among my fondest memories. New York City played a big part in making me who I am. It’s where I learned that I could pursue whatever I loved, but that I couldn’t be a slacker The city is everything you’ve heard it is. It’s crazy, it’s horrible, it’s magnificent, it’s beautiful. It’s a real live wire, hard to leave. 4. What contributed to the author’s knowledge of Germany? A. Her childhood experience. B. Her boyfriend’s descriptions. C. Her past travel adventures. D. Her previous school education. 5. What can we learn about the author’s neighborhood? A. It was a tourist hotspot for traditions. B. It was famous for its many restaurants. C. Kids there were born outside of America. D. Parents there spoke their mother tongues. 6. What did New York provide? A. Diverse learning opportunities. B. Quality education programs. C. Financial support for parents. D. Welfare benefits for the poor. 7. From which book is the text most likely taken? A. Into Unknown Skies. B. Never Can Say Goodbye. C. Mom is Always by My Side. D. Falling for the Hometown Girl. C Have you ever escaped taking on a role or opportunity because you didn’t feel confident enough? Perhaps the voice in your head asked: “Why me? I am not yet ready, not capable enough, or don’t have enough experience.” If you can relate, you’re among the majority of women with whom I’ve worked. I recently asked more than 120 women, from areas including the U.S., UK, Australia, Georgia, Italy, India, Jamaica, and Bermuda: If you’ve ever avoided risks, what factors and reasons contributed to this? More than 70% reported that selfdoubt, or not having enough belief in themselves, their capabilities, or their skills, was a driving factor. As one wellknown executive told me: “Every day I doubt myself. I doubt that I am good enough to be where I am.” This shouldn’t come as a surprise. We know selfdoubt is a pervasive and often paralyzing concern, particularly for women. A study by psychologists at Cornell and Washington State highlighted higher levels of selfdoubt in women. Research has also shown that women will apply for a job only if they meet all of the qualifications, while men will apply when they fulfill only 60%. Another recent study identified a considerable gender gap when it comes to selfpromotion, with women providing less favorable assessments of their own past performance and potential future ability. Ultimately, men take more chances on themselves, and that pays dividends in the long run. While this pattern of selfdoubt emerged again and again in studies, my interactions, and my client work, I also noticed another commonality: These women’s selfdoubts weren’t sabotaging their success. The vast majority of successful women leaders I’ve interviewed and coached have built exciting and satisfying careers even while facing selfdoubt. What these women also had in common is courage in the absence of confidence — a trait that is often weaponized against women and used to explain why they fail to achieve career goals. My work has found that successful women take decisive action to move forward even while grappling with fears and doubts and questioning their own “readiness”. “As women, we often feel like we have to be 100% ready in order to move forward. But, if you are 50% or 75% there, jump. Just do it,” said Megan Costello, former executive director of the Boston Mayor’s Office for Women’s Advancement. 8. What is the real factor for women to escape taking on a role? A. Higher risks. B. Different beliefs. C. Inner feelings. D. Related experiences. 9. What is typical of women in terms of selfpromotion? A. They tend to be less optimistic. B. They prefer to be well qualified. C. They try to be favorably assessed. D. They hope to be clearly identified. 10. Which can best replace the underlined word “sabotaging” in Paragraph 5? A. Promoting. B. Weakening. C. Achieving. D. Balancing. 11. How do women with selfdoubts succeed? A. By keeping themselves weaponized. B. By ignoring fears and doubts. C. By stopping questioning their readiness. D. By being bold and, decisive. D The Age of Information is mushrooming, perhaps even bulging. If you tried to download all the data available today, you’d need more than 180 million years to do so. But you are wrong to assume that all this information would stimulate a boost of innovation to match the output of data. Indeed, the last time we found ourselves in a period of significant innovation, was more than 120 years ago, in the Age of Insight. Innovations, both big and small, often occur as a moment of insight, which typically involves quiet signals deep in the brain, just under the surface of awareness. Anything that helps us notice quiet signals, such as taking breaks between meetings, simplifying learning approaches or avoiding digital distractions, can increase the number of insights. However, it’s becoming more challenging to find those signals with the ballooning use of technology, stuffing every moment with an endless supply of content. Besides, we also want to increase the quality of them — to be able to sort through big new ideas and find the ones that have real value. Launched in 2015, the Eureka Scale (尤里卡量表) allows us to assess the strength of our insight experiences on a five-point scale, which is marked by intense emotions, motivation, memory advantage, aftershocks, and following ideas. The Scale combines these five variables into a single value and allows us to define the importance of a new idea. The level-5 insight, involving the richest emotion, motivation, and lasting impact, holds the greatest significance. Contributive to measuring and improving individual and organizational performance, the Scale can be used to measure the impact of different kinds of work environments and learning approaches on participants’ growth. For organizations to benefit from another age of insight, it’s not enough to access more data or increase the number of insights we generate. It’s indeed essential to make space for the biggest ideas to emerge from all the information. Using the shared language of the Eureka Scale will enable better decision-making toward practical and competitive outcomes. And if we’re to enter a new age of insight, we must design our environments to allow for the best insight possible to surface. 12. What does the underlined word “bulging” in Paragraph 1 probably mean? A. Stabilizing. B. Exploding. C. Shifting. D. Collapsing. 13. According to the passage, how can the amount of insights be increased? A. By making due pauses in your work schedule. B. By consuming boundless social media content. C. By avoiding distracting quiet signals in your brain. D. By adopting additional training and coaching approaches. 14. What can be inferred from the passage? A. The Eureka Scale controls the influence of our insights. B. Possessing minimal emotional responses is a level-5 insight. C. Both the quantity and quality of insights are essential to innovation. D. A breakthrough has been made in innovation due to a wealth of information. 15. What is the author’s attitude towards the current environment for innovations? A. Uncertain. B. Optimistic. C. Tolerant. D. Dissatisfied. Keep Skin Cancer at Bay “You have skin cancer.” No one wants to hear such scary words. Faced with endless daily tests and heavy learning tasks, he spared no effort to make progress step by step. Every day, he devoted himself fully to his studies, hoping to lay a solid foundation for his future studies. For him, every moment of study was precious, and a peaceful, undisturbed learning environment was essential to efficient revision. However, an unexpected trouble came to him. A flock of birds built their nests in the tall old tree just outside his classroom window. From early morning till sunset, the birds kept singing loudly and non-stop. The sharp and continuous chirping cut through the quiet classroom again and again, easily breaking his train of thought. Whenever he tried to memorize key knowledge or focus on difficult exercises, the noisy sounds would distract him at once. Gradually, he grew restless and frustrated. As the monthly exam approached, his stress built up day by day. One tired evening, after wasting plenty of time and failing to finish his homework smoothly because of the noise, he could no longer hold back his annoyance. He took up his pen and wrote a heartfelt letter to the principal (校长), earnestly requesting the school to clear away the bird nests so that students could study in peace. He mailed the letter with mixed feelings, not sure whether his request would be approved. In the following days, he waited anxiously, still troubled by the bird songs and unable to settle down. He tried hard to ignore the noise, yet his anger never faded away. He even felt a little disappointed, worrying that no one would notice his trouble. Several days later, the principal invited him for a walk. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Moved and enlightened, Tom followed the principal’s advice. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ ★参照机密级管理 成都石室中学高2027届2026~2027学年度上期入学考试 英语 注意事项: 1. 1.What does the man offer to do? A 5. D 6. A 7. 根据第一段中“As soon as we arrived, I had this incredible revelation.“I know all about this area The food, the language. I know all about the Schwarzwald, the Black Forest,”I said to his German family.“How do you know about this?” they asked, in disbelief.(刚抵达那片土地,一种奇妙的顿悟便涌上心头。“我对这里了如指掌——无论是饮食、语言,还是黑森林的传说。”我对他的德国家人说道。他们难以置信地反问:“你怎会了解这些?”)”和第二段“That was the first time it dawned on me how much I knew about the rest of the world, and how prepared I was for it, just from growing up in New York City — that I had been everywhere before I’d ever actually gone anywhere.(那一刻我才恍然惊觉:成长于纽约这座城市,竟让我在真正踏足世界之前,早已通过日常浸润熟知了远方——我对这个世界的认知深度与应对准备,远比想象中更充分)”可知,作者对德国的了解源于她在纽约的成长经历。故选A项。 根据第三段中“I grew up in the Chelsea Projects, 288 10th Avenue at 26th Street. A lot of kids there were first generation Americans with immigrant parents who were still speaking Yiddish or Chinese or Portuguese, or just name a language, and they were speaking it.(我从小在切尔西项目区长大的,地址是第十大道288号,位于26街。那里的很多孩子都是第一代美国人,他们的父母是移民,仍然说着意第绪语、中文或葡萄牙语,或者随便说一种语言,他们就在说这种语言)”可知,作者所在社区的父母们仍然说着他们的母语。故选D项。 【6题详解】 细节理解题。根据第四段中“The whole city was a classroom. All over town, you learned stuff you didn’t even know you were learning. You didn’t have to be rich to learn it, either.(整座城市都是课堂。在街巷阡陌间,你不知不觉汲取着知识——而这些学问,从来都与财富无关)”和第五段“We went to all the museums, which were free back then. We’d ride the bus to Lincoln Center, before it was Lincoln Center, and watch dancers dancing there. Or we’d take the train to Coney Island. Those trips are among my fondest memories.(我们逛遍所有博物馆——那时它们还免费开放。我们乘公交去林肯中心,在它正式成名之前,看舞者们在广场翩跹起舞。也会搭地铁前往康尼岛,这些旅程至今仍是我最珍贵的记忆瑰宝)”可知,纽约提供了多样化的学习机会。故选A项。 通读全文,结合最后一段“New York City played a big part in making me who I am. It’s where I learned that I could pursue whatever I loved, but that I couldn’t be a slacker (偷懒的人). The city is everything you’ve heard it is. It’s crazy, it’s horrible, it’s magnificent, it’s beautiful. It’s a real live wire, hard to leave.(纽约这座城市塑造了如今的我。在这里我领悟到:可以追逐所爱,但绝不能苟且懈怠。这座城市集合了所有你听闻的特质——既疯狂又糟糕,既壮丽又美好。她是根永不停歇的带电导线,令人难以割舍)”可知,文章主要讲述了作者在纽约的成长经历对她认知世界和塑造自我的影响,表达了她对纽约的深厚感情和难以割舍的情怀,所以本文最有可能选自《Never Can Say Goodbye》一书。故选B项。 C Have you ever escaped taking on a role or opportunity because you didn’t feel confident enough? C 9. A 10. B 11. 根据第二段“More than 70% reported that selfdoubt, or not having enough belief in themselves, their capabilities, or their skills, was a driving factor.(超过70%的人表示,自我怀疑,即对自己、自身能力或技能缺乏足够的信心,是导致她们回避风险的主要因素)”可知,女性逃避承担角色的真正因素是内在感受。 根据第四段“Another recent study identified a considerable gender gap when it comes to selfpromotion, with women providing less favorable assessments of their own past performance and potential future ability.(另一项近期研究发现,在自我宣传方面存在显著的性别差距,女性对自己的过往表现和未来潜在能力的评价普遍较为负面)”可知,女性在自我宣传方面通常不太乐观。 根据划线词后文“The vast majority of successful women leaders I’ve interviewed and coached have built exciting and satisfying careers even while facing selfdoubt.(我采访和指导过的绝大多数成功女性领导者,即使面临自我怀疑,也依然建立了令人振奋且令人满足的职业生涯)”可知,这些女性的自我怀疑并没有削弱她们取得成功的能力。 根据倒数第二段“My work has found that successful women take decisive action to move forward even while grappling with fears and doubts and questioning their own “readiness”.(我的研究发现,成功的女性即使在面对恐惧、怀疑以及对自己“是否已准备就绪”的质疑时,也会果断采取行动,继续向前迈进)”可知,有自我怀疑的女性通过勇敢和果断取得成功。 D The Age of Information is mushrooming, perhaps even bulging. B 13. A 14. C 15. 根据第一段中的“The Age of Information is mushrooming, perhaps even bulging. If you tried to download all the data available today, you’d need more than 180 million years to do so.(信息时代正在飞速激增,甚至呈现bulging。如果你想要下载如今所有可获取的数据,需要耗费1.8亿多年的时间。)”可知,信息时代正在飞速激增,所以bulging表示迅速增长,与Exploding(激增、爆发)同义。 【13题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段中的“Anything that helps us notice quiet signals, such as taking breaks between meetings, simplifying learning approaches or avoiding digital distractions, can increase the number of insights.(任何能够帮助我们捕捉大脑安静信号的事情,例如会议间隙休息、简化学习方式、远离电子干扰,都能够增加顿悟的产生次数。)” 根据第二段中的“Anything that helps us notice quiet signals, such as taking breaks between meetings, simplifying learning approaches or avoiding digital distractions, can increase the number of insights.(任何能够帮助我们捕捉大脑安静信号的事情,例如会议间隙休息、简化学习方式、远离电子干扰,都能够增加顿悟的产生次数。)” 根据第一段“But you are wrong to assume that all this information would stimulate a boost of innovation to match the output of data. Indeed, the last time we found ourselves in a period of significant innovation, was more than 120 years ago(但如果你认为海量信息能够催生与数据产出量相匹配的创新增幅,那这种想法便是错误的。 Keep Skin Cancer at Bay “You have skin cancer.” No one wants to hear such scary words. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】范文: Several days later, the principal invited him for a walk. He walked side by side with Tom in the quiet campus garden. Noticing Tom’s gloomy expression, the principal asked how he had been getting along with his recent studies. Tom poured out his frustration about the constant bird chirps that ruined his concentration. The principal listened attentively and then patiently explained that all living creatures deserved respect, and true self-discipline lay in calming one’s mind against outer distractions. His gentle words and sincere communication slowly melted away Tom’s irritation and made him lost in thought. Moved and enlightened, Tom followed the principal’s advice. Tom no longer regarded the birds’ singing as annoying noise, but learned to embrace the beauty of natural sounds. Whenever he sat down to study, he trained himself to stay focused. Little by little, he regained peace and efficiency in his study. This small incident taught him a profound lesson: life is always filled with unavoidable troubles. Real growth does not mean escaping difficulties, but learning to be tolerant, adjust actively and seek inner balance, which would benefit him for a lifetime. 1】Noticing Tom’s gloomy expression, the principal asked how he had been getting along with his recent studies.(运用了how引导的宾语从句) 【高分句型2】Tom poured out his frustration about the constant bird chirps that ruined his concentration.(运用了that引导的定语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
