a一个;an一个;the这个。
too也;also也;either也。
other其他的;the other另一个;others其他的,是other的复数。
so所以;but但是;because因为。 故选A。
do做;does做;to do做。
tell告诉;to tell告诉;telling告诉。"ask sb.to do sth."
to write写;writing写;write写。"practise doing sth."
everyday"每天的",every day"每天",one day"有一天"。
with"具有",under"在……下面";"as示"作为"。"with one's help"固定搭配,表示"在某人的帮助下",所以用"with"。故选A。

Do you feel sleepy on rainy days? If the answer is yes, you are not alone. Many people feel the same way. But do you know why?
One of the reasons is that there is little sunshine on rainy days. Our brain will have less serotonin (血清素) and more melatonin (褪黑素) if there is not enough sunlight. Serotonin helps us feel good and energetic, while melatonin makes us feel sleepy. As a result, we may want to go to sleep and even feel a bit sad when it is rainy.
The humidity (湿度) of a rainy day is another reason. As it rains, the air becomes wetter than usual. It’s more difficult for our sweat (汗水) to dry in the weather like this, so our body has to work harder to stay cool. This can make us feel tired.
Moreover, the sound of rain, a type of pink noise, will make us feel sleepy too. Like white noise, pink noise includes all the sound frequencies (频率) humans can hear, but it has fewer high frequencies than white noise. This makes pink noise sound softer. Studies show that people’s brainwaves (脑电波) will become fewer when they hear pink noise, so they will fall asleep more easily.
Now you can understand why you are sleepy on rainy days. Then what can you do if you don’t like that feeling? Well, you can get as much natural light as possible and keep yourself busy. Also, you can use a machine to make your room dry. In this way, you won’t feel sleepy any more.
24.How does the writer start the passage?
A.By asking questions. B.By telling a story.
C.By using pictures. D.By giving a weather report.
25.What does the underlined word “energetic” probably mean?
A.Cold. B.Active. C.Tired. D.Unhappy.
26.What can we learn from paragraph 4?
A.White noise includes fewer high frequencies than pink noise.
B.People will have more brainwaves when they hear pink noise.
C.It’s difficult for people to fall asleep when they hear pink noise.
D.The softer the noise sounds, the more easily people will feel sleepy.
27.What is the passage mainly about?
A.Some facts about different kinds of noises.
B.The reasons why people need enough sleep.
C.The reasons why people are sleepy on rainy days.
D.Some ways to help people sleep better on rainy days.
【答案】24.A 25.B 26.D 27.C
根据文章第一段开头“Do you feel sleepy on rainy days?...But do you know why?”
25.根据第二段“Serotonin helps us feel good and energetic, while melatonin makes us feel sleepy”可知,while表示转折对比,后半句提到褪黑素让人困倦,前半句应指血清素让人感觉良好且精力充沛。
26.根据第四段“...it has fewer high frequencies than white noise. This makes pink noise sound softer...so they will fall asleep more easily.”

Mary began to like her life here. Every morning, she went outside after breakfast and spent most of the day in the grounds. The cold wind brought pink to her face. And she finished all of her food each evening. She was much healthier. After dinner, she liked sitting near the fire and talking to Martha.
“Why does Mr. Craven hate the locked garden?” Mary asked once.
“It was Mrs. Craven’s garden and she loved it. She looked after the flowers together with Mr. Craven. No gardeners were allowed in.”
“But what happened?” Mary asked.
“There was an old tree in the garden with a branch (树枝) like a seat, Mrs. Craven often sat there, reading and talking. One day, the branch broke and she fell down. She was badly hurt and died soon. Mr. Craven locked the garden and never talked about it.”
Mary seldom felt sorry for anyone, but now she understood how sad her uncle must be.
The wind roared around the house, and the doors and windows banged. Mary listened, and through the noise she thought that she heard a child crying.
“Can you hear someone crying?” she asked Martha.
Martha seemed pretty nervous. “No,” she answered. “It’s only the wind or the servant who works in the kitchen. She’s got a toothache. Perhaps she’s crying. I’m going to check if she needs any help.” After the words, Martha left the room quickly.
When Martha left her alone, Mary decided to walk around the house. She went quietly along corridors and up and down stairs. In the silent house, she heard again the sound of a child crying. She stopped to listen at a door, but then another door opened and Mrs. Medlock came out, “What are you doing here?” she said, and she took Mary by the arm and pulled her away. “Get back to your room at once.”

C.To help the servant in the kitchen. D.To listen at a door of the house.
31.What can you infer (推断) from the passage?
A.Mr. Craven would leave home. B.Martha didn’t tell the truth.
C.Mary knew her uncle well. D.Mrs. Medlock was very kind.
【答案】28.D 29.B 30.A 31.B
第一段写明:“She was much healthier.”,这直接说明Mary变得健康许多。
Craven locked the garden and never talked about it.”,这直接说明妻子离世后Craven先生再也不提及这座花园。
30.第十段写明:“In the silent house, she heard again the sound of a child crying.”,由此可知Martha离开后Mary在屋内走动,是为了找到哭声的来源。

According to a recent study, the Middle East is warming almost twice as fast as the rest of the world. Without a doubt, high temperatures will have deep influences on the development of the area.
That shows the growing risk to humans caused by extreme (极端的) weather. With more and more extreme weather events, we must find better techniques to make predictions (预测) about them.
AI is a powerful tool. It can deal with information and provide advice to help us better understand and make predictions about the weather. Traditional weather models use information from satellites (卫星). But these models have their disadvantages: they are not very exact. They also fail to discover complex conditions of the air around the earth.
AI can overcome (克服) these disadvantages by using the technology of deep learning. It can learn from historical and real-time information and produce trustworthy predictions. AI can also deal with information from different places, such as satellite photos or online posts, to provide clearer pictures of the weather situation. A paper on the Pangu-Weather AI model has drawn a lot of attention. Pangu-Weather is the first AI prediction model that is more exact than traditional weather prediction methods. This model can increase the prediction speed by 10,000 times, making global weather prediction time drop to seconds.
In May 2023, Typhoon Mawar appeared in the Pacific Ocean. According to the China Meteorological Administration, Pangu-Weather made exact predictions about the direction of Mawar five days before it changed its way in the eastern waters of the islands of Taiwan.
32.Which of the following is TRUE?
A.High temperatures will have few influences on the area.
B.The Middle East is warming faster than the rest of the world.
C.Traditional weather models can discover complex conditions of the air around the earth.
D.Traditional weather models use information from satellites and are very exact.
33.How can AI overcome the disadvantages of traditional weather models?
A.By using information from satellites.
B.By only learning from real-time information.
C.By using the technology of deep learning.
D.By dealing with information from the same places.
34.Why is Typhoon Mawar mentioned?
A.To show how exact Pangu-Weather’s predictions are.
B.To tell us about the risks of extreme weather.
C.To talk about how useless traditional weather models are.
D.To express that the problems of extreme weather have been solved completely.
35.What might be the best title of the text?

No breakfast helps you lose weight?

A.Cold. B.Active. C.Tired. D.Unhappy.

B.The reasons why people need enough sleep.
C.The reasons why people are sleepy on rainy days.
D.Some ways to help people sleep better on rainy days.

When Martha left her alone, Mary decided to walk around the house. She went quietly along corridors and up and down stairs. In the silent house, she heard again the sound of a child crying.
