Here are three festivals across the United States, each with its own local flavour. ◆Tulip Time — Holland, Michigan This 8-day festival in early May turns the lakeside city into a Dutch wonderland with parades, traditional dance, art installations, and five million tulips planted across the city. A new offering this year enables you to name a blooming bed for a family member or loved one. Where to stay: Downtown hotels put you right in the centre of the action, but weekends get extremely crowded. Booking well in advance is strongly advised. Where to eat: Head to the locally-owned DeBoer Bakery for classic Dutch treats like buttery cookies and sausage rolls. ◆Skagit Valley Tulip Festival — Mount Vernon, Washington Held throughout April, this festival spreads across four separate farms: RoozenGaarde, Tulip Town, Garden Rosalyn, and Tulip Valley Farms. Each offers its own charm, from the world’s largest family-run tulip grower to a farm with a cider garden and views of Mount Baker. Where to stay: For a cosy experience, consider the Nantucket Inn in nearby Anacortes. This charming bed and breakfast offers a waterfront view from its front porch, just minutes from the fields. Where to eat: The Kiwanis Salmon BBQ at Hillcrest Park Lodge serves locally-caught salmon and delicious sides every day. It’s open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., with outdoor seating available, and your money supports local children’s programs. ◆Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival — Woodburn, Oregon Since 1985, the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm has welcomed guests to wander among more than 40 acres of blooming bulbs. On weekends, the festival adds extra fun with shuttle (班车) rides, a children’s play area, and wooden shoe-making demonstrations. The farm’s flower shop is open daily, so no matter when you visit, there’s always a chance to take some tulips home. Where to stay: The festival makes an excellent road trip from Portland. The historic Hi-Lo Hotel is a favourite place to rest after a day among the flowers. Where to eat: You can try local treats at nearby farm cafes. The marionberry is the local star — a cross between two native blackberries. 21. What is special about this year’s Tulip Time? A. It offers free shuttle rides. B. You can name a blooming flower bed. C. It provides a waterfront bed and breakfast nearby. D. It is held across four separate farms. 22. Which place funds local children’s programs? A. The Kiwanis Salmon BBQ in Mount Vernon. B. The Nantucket Inn in Anacortes. C. The DeBoer Bakery in Holland. D. The Hi-Lo Hotel in Woodburn. 23. What can visitors do at Wooden Shoe Tulip Fest on weekdays? A. Watch wooden shoe-making shows. B. Play in the children’s play area. C. Buy flowers. D. Enjoy the scenery of Mount Baker. B Chinese origami (折纸艺术) artist Pei Haozheng, also known as Hotz Pei, is no stranger to Guinness World Records. He once folded the most origami flowers made from a single sheet of paper (100), and then created the largest origami snail ever, but this year he embarked on his most challenging record attempt yet — cutting the longest continuous strip of paper from a single A4 sheet. Technically, it should have been a walk in the park for this master of paper art, as the length to beat was a modest 2.5 meters, but he challenged himself to cut the longest strip possible, so he spent about a year experimenting with different types of paper, cutting techniques and instruments. In the end, he managed to cut a thin, continuous strip 108.15 meters in length. “The strip I created measured 108.15 meters long and 0.5 millimeters wide,” Hotz Pei told Guinness World Records. “The entire process, from initial preparation to trials and errors to the official attempt and the final artwork, Between Chaos and Order, took approximately one year.” To maximize his chances of success, the talented artist first had to identify the most appropriate medium for the challenges, and he ultimately settled on a silver piece of A4 paper with a mirror-like reflective surface. Once that was over, he had to figure out the best cutting method, and although he experimented with some advanced techniques and instruments, he found the most “primitive” option — cutting with scissors — to be the most effective. “The third step was the formal attempt, which demanded precision, patience, and technical skill,” the artist explained. “I carefully cut the paper, resulting in a strip that resembled a tangle of raffia grass. In the fourth step, I transformed the 108.15m of paper strips into an artistic and organized artwork shaped like a cerebral (大脑的) nerve slice.” “This world record was a personal challenge to discover the limits of topological (拓扑的) transformation of this single sheet of paper,” Pei added. How he managed to cut a thin, continuous strip of paper about the length of a football stadium without accidentally breaking it is a mystery, but it’s hard to imagine someone breaking his record anytime soon. 24. What does the underlined phrase “a walk in the park” mean? A. A task that requires great patience and precision. B. A creative challenge that brings great pleasure. C. A short outdoor activity for relaxation. D. An easy task that can be accomplished effortlessly. 25. Why did Pei finally choose scissors in the challenge? A. Professional cutting tools would damage the paper. B. He has got used to using them. C. They are the only usable tool. D. He found they worked best after testing. 26. What was the core motivation for Pei to launch the challenge this year? A. To break the previous record. B. To explore the extreme shape of a sheet of paper. C. To create artwork for public exhibition. D. To promote traditional Chinese paper-cutting art. 27. What can be inferred from the last paragraph? A. Pei’s record will remain unbroken for at least a decade. B. Guinness will raise the difficulty level for the record. C. The difficulty of Pei’s achievement is greater than expected. D. Pei will continue to challenge more world records. C Malta, one of Europe’s smallest countries, has high vehicle densities and traffic jams are a constant issue. To address this problem, authorities have come up with an ingenious program titled “Driving License Surrender Scheme (上交计划)”, which is designed to motivate people to surrender their driver’s licenses for a period of up to five years. According to Malta’s Transport Minister, Chris Bonett, one of the main goals of the Driving License Surrender Scheme is to create a “mobility shock”, especially among young people, before car use becomes too fixed a habit. If the government can intervene in early adulthood, participants may permanently embrace buses, bicycles, and walking as their primary means of transport. Through this innovative program, Malta is offering young drivers 25,000 euros to voluntarily hand over their driver’s licenses and agree not to drive for five years. Payments are made in yearly instalments (一期付款) of 5,000 euros, and beneficiaries must return the received amounts on a pro-rata (按比例的) basis, if they change their mind before the agreed five years have passed. To qualify for the Driving License Surrender Scheme, drivers must be 30 years old or under, residents of Malta for at least seven years, possess a driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, and not have had their licenses suspended or revoked. These criteria target those young enough to change their habits, yet experienced enough to understand the sacrifice they are making. Malta has allocated an annual budget of 5 million to this scheme, limiting the number of beneficiaries to 1,000 people per year. Initial feedback suggests a great interest in the program, which shows that for many young drivers, the financial allowance is more important than driving a vehicle. Some applicants have reportedly noted that the 5,000 euros per year can cover a significant portion of their rent or daily expenses, making the offer hard to refuse. Interestingly, once the license is surrendered, it is considered permanently suspended, and the individual will have to take 15 hours of driving lessons to obtain a new license after five years. The declared aims of Malta’s Driving License Surrender Scheme are to reduce the number of active drivers and to encourage the use of public transport, with the end goals of fighting traffic jams and reducing pollution levels. While 1,000 fewer drivers per year may seem modest in a country with such high vehicle density, officials hope the scheme will spark a broader cultural shift in how Maltese citizens view car ownership. 28. If a participant withdraws from the scheme, he will ________. A. recover his original driving license B. be banned from driving permanently C. pay back the full amount received D. repay a relevant part of the received money 29. What is the requirement for drivers to apply for the scheme? A. They must complete driving lessons once again. B. They must have clean driving records. C. They must provide proof of uninterrupted residence. D. They must have held a valid driving license for at least one year. 30. What does the applicants’ strong interest in the scheme indicate? A. The reliance on cars has dropped sharply. B. The annual available places fall short of actual demand. C. Financial rewards outweigh the convenience of driving cars. D. They join it primarily to reduce traffic. 31. Where is the passage most likely taken from? A. A residence guide. B. A news report. C. A policy announcement. D. A parking proposal. D The robot army that saves the world won’t be anything like what you imagine. Nope, they aren’t little humanoids who can do martial arts like the ones who amazed audiences during New Year’s festivities in China. And they won’t help you find a can of Coke with embarrassing slowness like the man-shaped beast known as Optimus from Elon Musk’s Tesla Inc. Instead, the real robot army will be microscopic, and mostly made of algae (藻类), bacteria and other single-celled organisms. Engineers call them biohybrid microrobots. If you’ve read about people swallowing pills full of tiny robots to deliver medicine-or you watched the classic movie Innerspace — you’ve already experienced the dream of a future. For many years, medical researchers have imagined using little machines to get medicine into the hard-to-reach parts of our bodies such as tiny blood vessels in lungs. The problem is that we can’t actually build these power-driven devices small enough to do it. That’s where biomedical engineer Joseph Wang’s work comes in. Like many in the growing field of microrobotics, Wang has dramatically expanded the definition of what most of us think of as “robots”. Any mechanism that can be controlled and move around semi-autonomously is a robot. And some robots contain living tissues — or entire living creatures. There are many things technology simply can’t do as well as biology — and one of them is motor around inside micro-environments. Tiny artificial engines tend to dissolve (分解) after a few minutes, Wang says, but algae “just swim and swim”. That’s why he and his colleagues power their robots with the green microalga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii, which loves blue light and dislikes the red light. At the University of California, San Diego, Wang’s lab worked closely with chemical engineer Liangfang Zhang’s research group to turn a swarm of algae cyborgs (半机械人) into a microscopic team that deliver medicine. They exposed the C. reinhardtii to nanoparticles (纳米粒子) that stuck to their outer coverings via electrostatic (静电的) force. The result was half-algae, half-artificial, all-bot. Researchers can guide the fully loaded microbot swarm towards a wound using blue light. To separate the swarm, they used a red light. One day, doctors might use the masking technique to create custom-shaped algae bandages with many kinds of therapeutic payloads. Medicine isn’t the only possible application for biohybrid microrobot swarms, either. Wang’s lab is also using cyborg algae for cleanup in rivers and oceans. Instead of loading the bots up with medicine, researchers cover them in chemicals that can absorb poisons. The algae move forward by twisting and turning around in the water, often for days, collecting poisons opportunistically until everything is cleaned up. 32. What is the author’s purpose in mentioning Optimus? A. To demonstrate the impressive speed of modern robots. B. To warn readers about the potential risks of robot armies. C. To highlight that the real robot army is not what people expect. D. To introduce the medical uses of microrobots. 33. Why did Wang and his colleagues use algae to drive their robots? A. Because algae are the smallest organisms available. B. Because algae can’t break down in the body easily. C. Because algae can carry medicine through electrostatic force. D. Because algae can be loaded with various things. 34. Which of the following is TRUE about the microrobots? A. They are entirely made of man-made materials. B. They have been widely used. C. They can function better when exposed to red light. D. Their ability to swim enables them to perform tasks. 35. Which of the following can be the best title for the passage? A. The Tiny Robot Army Might “Heal” the World B. The Future of Medicine May Be Brighter than You Think C. The Accidental Discovery Could End Pollution Forever D. Science Fiction Is Becoming a Reality in Robotics 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 No matter how much you prefer to pack light, there are times when you need to fit more into your bag than intended. Maybe it’s unpredictable weather, or you simply have too many essentials. The challenge: squeezing everything in without damage. ____36____. Embrace the power of compression (压缩) You might have heard about packing cubes, which can help you stay organized. But they won’t save as much room as you think. ____37____. They don’t require a pump. You just roll the bag from the sealed (密封的) end toward the opening, and the air escapes through a one-way valve. These bags shrink items dramatically. A puffy jacket becomes a thin pad, and some can even fit a full-sized pillow and still leave extra space. Choose lightweight fabrics If self-sealing varieties aren’t an option, go with lightweight fabrics for everything. Materials like merino wool, thin cotton blends, or synthetics, dry far faster than heavy cotton. ____38____. With a little soap, you can wash them in a sink and they’ll be dry by morning. Packing tightly is about practical problem-solving, not elegance. Make use of items with empty space inside ____39____. Stuff them with clean socks or rolled-up belts. This protects the shoes and creates extra storage. Hats can be stuffed too, to maintain their shape. A wide-brimmed hat should have soft items packed inside and around the crown. Even a reusable water bottle can hold pills and rubber bands. And don’t overlook hidden spaces, which can be stuffed with tiny personal items. ____40____ With a rolling hard-shell case, pack heaviest items near the wheels to prevent them from crushing lighter things when upright. Once packed tightly, zip it shut and stand it on its wheels. Then, let time and gravity do the rest. Over the next twenty minutes, the contents will gradually settle downward. When you unzip, you’ll often find a new gap at the top, just enough for a few more things. A. Let gravity work for you B. Your shoes are a perfect example C. Let the weight of your case do the work for you D. Empty spaces are perfect for storing small things like socks or chargers E. This means you only need to pack a few clothes and can wash them quickly F. Fortunately, a set of proven strategies can help you maximize every inch of space G. If you’re serious about packing tightly, self-sealing bags are the answer 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分)(★) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。 The house we moved into three decades ago included a large bank of windows in the living room, giving us a wide view of the yard and street. In his first year, he lost in the quarterfinals. The following year, he made it to the semifinals but fell short in a heartbreaking tiebreaker (决胜局). This was his last chance — his senior year, his final tournament. Every serve and smash from the past three years had led to this one moment. No one understood better than Maya what this meant to Ted. She was the one who had put a racket in his hands seven years ago, when he was a shy ten-year-old who could barely hold it properly. She had been the team’s star player until a wrist injury ended her own dream, but instead of drowning in disappointment, she poured all her training into him. On their driveway, rain or shine, she drilled him on footwork, drop shots, and the most important rule: “Win with integrity, lose with grace.” Those words became their guiding principle, repeated before every practice and every match. On the day of the final, Maya took her place on the second-floor balcony (看台), camera ready. She had charged the battery twice and cleared the memory card the night before, determined to capture every moment for Ted. From up there, she could see the entire court, every corner and line as clear as day. The match was electric. Ted and his opponent Leo were evenly matched, trading points back and forth. The crowd gasped at every exchange, the tension thick in the air. At 20-20, the next point would decide everything. Leo served hard, the shuttlecock (羽毛球) cutting through the air like an arrow. Ted smashed down the line with all his strength. Time seemed to freeze. Then the shuttlecock landed — barely outside the baseline. But the referee (裁判), blocked by the net, thought it was in. “In!” he called. “Game point, Ted.” The crowd cheered wildly. Ted threw his racket into the air, tears streaming as teammates lifted him onto their shoulders. Chants of his name filled the gym. He had finally done it. Minutes later, the referee handed him a gold trophy (奖杯) shining under the bright lights. All those early mornings on the driveway, all those stinging losses — they had led to this glorious moment. However, Maya saw it clearly: the white feathers were a centimeter out. She replayed the video with shaking fingers. Once. Twice. Three times… The championship did not belong to her brother. 注意: (1)续写词数应为150个左右; (2)请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Maya stood frozen, her heart sinking. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Having stared at the frozen camera screen, Ted felt the trophy suddenly heavy in his hands. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 高三英语一 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面5段录音。 What is the woman’s hobby? What is the talk mainly about? A. Ways to learn birdwatching. B. The benefits of birdwatching. C. Birds’ brain diseases. 19. Which advantage do experienced birders have? A. Dealing with information faster. B. Learning musical art better. C. Having few memory issues. 20. Why can birdwatching help people reduce stress? A. It forces them to stay quiet. B. It improves their social skills. C. It allows them to get close to nature. 【答案】18. B 19. A 20. C 【解析】 【原文】 M: Birds are beautiful creatures. Looking at them could be good for us. Researchers in Canada say birdwatching could protect our brains against age-related diseases. The lead researcher said, “Skills from birdwatching could be beneficial for intelligence and reasoning as people age.” The researchers compared brain scans of 29 experienced birders and 29 new birdwatchers. The brains of the experienced birders were a lot more active. The experienced birders had a longer attention span. They also had a better memory than those new to the hobby. In addition, the experienced birders could process information more quickly. Birdwatching benefits the brain like learning a musical instrument. This is because the brain learns new skills. Birdwatching combines the ability to identify things with a sensitivity to movement and detecting patterns. Other scientists say the hobby is good for people’s mental and physical health. It can reduce stress. This is because they are outside in the fresh air and sunlight, and observing different birds helps them connect with nature. Birdwatchers also say their hobby improves their social life. This is because they meet many people who are like them. 第二部分 阅读(共两节,满分50分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分) 阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。 A Spring is the perfect time to enjoy colourful tulips (郁金香). 【答案】24. D 25. D 26. B 27. 【答案】28. D 29. D 30. Science Fiction Is Becoming a Reality in Robotics 【答案】32. C 33. B 34. D 35. A 【解析】 【导语】文章介绍了生物混合微型机器人的构成、优势、工作原理,及其在医疗和水域清洁领域的应用前景。 【32题详解】 推理判断题。根据第一段中的“The robot army that saves the world won’t be anything like what you imagine... And they won’t help you find a can of Coke with embarrassing slowness like the man-shaped beast known as Optimus from Elon Musk’s Tesla Inc.(拯救世界的机器人大军将与你想象的完全不同。它们不会像中国新年庆典上惊艳观众的类人机器人那样会武术。它们也不会像埃隆·马斯克的特斯拉公司出品的名为擎天柱的人形怪物那样,笨拙迟缓地帮你找一罐可乐)”可知,作者提及擎天柱机器人,是为了说明真正的机器人大军和大众想象的不一样。 【33题详解】 细节理解题。根据第四段中的“Tiny artificial engines tend to dissolve after a few minutes, Wang says, but algae “just swim and swim”. That’s why he and his colleagues power their robots with the green microalga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii(王教授表示,微型人造引擎往往几分钟后就会分解,但藻类可以一直游动。这就是他和同事们使用绿色莱茵衣藻为机器人供能的原因)”可知,团队选用藻类驱动机器人,是因为藻类不易分解、可持续游动,性能优于人造引擎。 【34题详解】 细节理解题。根据第六段中的“The algae move forward by twisting and turning around in the water, often for days, collecting poisons opportunistically until everything is cleaned up.(这些藻类在水中通过扭转盘旋前行,通常可运作数日,伺机收集毒素,直至清理干净)”可知,藻类的游动能力让微型机器人能够完成各类作业任务。 【35题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文,并结合第一段中的“Instead, the real robot army will be microscopic, and mostly made of algae (藻类), bacteria and other single‑celled organisms. Engineers call them biohybrid microrobots.(相反,真正的机器人大军将是微观的,主要由藻类、细菌和其他单细胞生物构成。工程师称它们为生物混合微型机器人)”、第五段中的“One day, doctors might use the masking technique to create custom‑shaped algae bandages with many kinds of therapeutic payloads.(有朝一日,医生或许可以利用这项掩蔽技术制造出带有多种治疗有效载荷、定制形状的藻类绷带)”以及第六段中的“Medicine isn’t the only possible application for biohybrid microrobot swarms, either. Wang’s lab is also using cyborg algae for cleanup in rivers and oceans.(医疗也不是生物混合微型机器人群唯一可能的用途。 No matter how much you prefer to pack light, there are times when you need to fit more into your bag than intended. If you’re serious about packing tightly, self-sealing bags are the answer 【答案】36. F 37. G 38. E 39. B 40. I can’t wait to share this lively experience with you. The street was buzzing with excitement. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】【参考范文】 Maya stood frozen, her heart sinking. Below, Ted was lifted up onto teammates’ shoulders, his face radiant with joy. Her finger hovered over the delete button. One press, and the truth would vanish. But then their motto rang in her ears: “Win with integrity, lose with grace.” If she stayed silent, those words would become a lie she alone had planted. With trembling legs, she descended the stairs and pulled Ted aside. “I need to show you something,” she whispered, replaying the footage. Ted watched, his smile crumbling. “It was out,” she said softly. “I’m so sorry.” Having stared at the frozen camera screen, Ted felt the trophy suddenly heavy in his hands. For a heartbeat, he wanted to walk away — pretend he hadn’t seen. But the words he’d lived by wouldn’t let him. “That last shot was out,” he said. “The point isn’t mine.” Silence fell after the referee confirmed the truth, and then the score was reversed. Ted placed the trophy in Leo’s hands before turning back to Maya, who stood weeping at the court’s edge. He pulled her into a tight embrace. “I lost the match,” he whispered. “But we didn’t lose what matters.” 3.词类激活 行为类 ①拉,拽:pull/drag ②低语:whisper/murmur 情绪类 ①快乐:joy/pleasure/delight ②轻柔地:softly/tenderly 【点睛】【高分句型1】If she stayed silent, those words would become a lie she alone had planted.(运用了if引导条件状语从句,和省略关系代词which/that的定语从句) 【高分句型2】Ted placed the trophy in Leo’s hands before turning back to Maya, who stood weeping at the court’s edge.(运用了who引导的非限制性定语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $这是高三英语听力部分,该部分分为第一第二两节。注意回答听力部分时,请先将答案标在试卷上。听力部分结束前,你将有两分钟的时间将答案转涂到客观题答题卡上。现在是听力试音时间。Hello. international friends club.
