She wanted to learn his mother tongue to strengthen their family bond. In the process, she created a web page called “Elikutty” through which she now teaches Malayalam to thousands of people. “I always loved hearing people speak different languages, but when my mother from Serbia spoke Serbian at home, my father showed no interest in learning it, leaving frequent misunderstanding and communicating problems. That’s when I decided that if I met someone from a different culture, I would try to learn his language, which would be good for us and our family,” says Elizabeth. “So when my relationship with Arjun started looking serious because of difficulties in communicating, I decided to learn Malayalam. However, I found that there weren’t enough resources to learn the language. Most books available were outdated or made for children. A small amount of material was often too difficult for casual language learners like me,” says the 35-year-old. “Later, I struggled to find a teacher suited to my needs and some grammar resources online.” As an English teacher, Elizabeth used her teaching skills to learn Malayalam. She wrote notes and made doodles (涂鸦) to learn the letters. “For me, the best way to learn is by explaining it to someone else, so I made a web page in 2018 to share my notes and small drawings,” she says. Starting out with 1,000 followers in 2018, her web page has over 70,000 followers today. She is pleased to make learning Malayalam fun and easy. “I have seen what happens when languages are ignored in my own house. My brother doesn’t know Serbian, which means his family won’t. It’s important to know English as it is a global language and helps when you go abroad, but the same respect should be given to native languages. They are the true way to a person’s heart,” says Elizabeth. 4. Why did Elizabeth decide to learn Malayalam? A. To build a foundation for her career. B. To improve her relationship with Arjun. C. To better communicate with her mother. D. To satisfy her interest in foreign languages. 5. What difficulty did Elizabeth meet during her learning? A. Disapproval from her husband. B. Failure to find a native partner. C. Lack of suitable learning resources. D. Inability to find a professional teacher. 6. What was Elizabeth’s web page used to do at first? A. Assist her in self-study. B. Collect learning tips. C. Share her life in Malaya. D. Teach foreigners Malayalam. 7. What is Elizabeth’s opinion on language learning? A. Using social media as the primary tool. B. Respecting our inner thinking at all times. C. Always putting the family’s common language first. D. Treating universal languages and native languages equally. C The census (人口普查) is a crucial component of modern-day governance, but the story of how it came to be is often a lost tale. Now, we dig into the birth of it. It was Napoleon who pushed the parliament into the first census. The concept had been around since Roman times, but it took the fear of French invasion during the Napoleonic Wars to make it happen. In 1800, the parliament decided it needed to know how many men could be called on to defend the country against the enemies camped just across the Channel — and also how many aliens were living here. Hence, the first official census in Great Britain was taken on March 10, 1801. Initially, from 1801 to 1831, what all the census takers did was record the size of the population of their local areas based on the number of people living in each house, how many houses were occupied and the total number of baptisms (洗礼), marriages and burials in the parish. The census taker was usually chosen because he had some standing in the community. He would have known much about the neighbours he was counting, and they would have trusted him to come into their homes to share a light refreshment. Some census takers took their jobs so seriously that they made personal notes as they went around. For instance, Richard Stopher added biographical notes to householders’ names as he travelled throughout the parish. It was men like him, gathering personal data as well as basic statistical information, who helped to change the way the census was perceived and brought about new categories of information, such as the names, ages, occupations and birthplaces of each occupant, eventually introduced in the 1841 census. Census data is used to make decisions when it comes to public policy, resource allocation, and future planning, yet it is safe to say that it is not without its flaws that need to be improved to better reflect the needs and conditions of its people. 8. What can be learned about the 1801 official census? A. It served a military purpose. B. It was a tradition from Roman times. C. It helped Napoleon control the country better. D. It aimed to call on people to turn against the war. 9. What can we know about census takers from paragraph 3? A. They needed to be elected by the parliament. B. They would provide residents a light refreshment. C. They did their job based on comprehensive analysis. D. They were selected for their status in the neighbourhood. 10. What is the author’s purpose of mentioning Richard Stopher? A. To show ways census takers work. B. To demonstrate his high reputation. C. To praise his outstanding work above others. D. To explain some census takers’ contribution to the census. 11. Why does the author think census needs improving? A. It is costly and complex. B. It involves the information disclosure. C. It can’t mirror people’s needs and situations. D. It is still a reminder of Napoleon and the war times. D People are increasingly required to interact with AI virtual agents when accessing services, and many also use them as companions for social interaction. A study, which used a virtual ball game, highlights humans’ tendency to treat AI agents as social beings. However, the researchers suggest that developers should avoid designing agents as overly human-like. Feeling empathy and taking corrective action against unfairness is something most humans appear hardwired to do. Prior studies not involving AI found that people tended to make up for rejected targets by throwing the ball to them more frequently, and that people also tended to dislike the troublemaker of exclusionary (排他的) behaviour while feeling preference and sympathy towards the target. To carry out the study, the researchers looked at how 244 human participants responded when they observed an AI virtual agent being excluded from play by another human in a game called “Cyberball”, in which players pass a virtual ball to each other on-screen. The participants were aged between 18 and 62. They found that most of the time, the participants tried to correct the unfairness towards the agent by favouring throwing the ball to the agent. Older participants were more likely to perceive unfairness. The researchers say that as AI virtual agents become more popular in cooperative tasks, increased engagement with humans could increase our familiarity and cause automatic processing. This would mean users would likely intuitively (直觉地) include virtual agents as real team members and engage with them socially. This, they say, can be an advantage for work cooperation but might be concerning where virtual agents are used as friends to replace human relationships, or as advisors on physical or mental health. By avoiding designing overly human-like agents, developers could help people distinguish between virtual and real interaction. They could also tailor their design for specific age ranges, for example, by accounting for how our varying human characteristics affect our perception. 12. Which can best replace the underlined word “hardwired” in paragraph 2? A. Natural. B. Random. C. Decent. D. Urgent. 13. What did the older participants tend to do in the study? A. Withdraw from the game quickly. B. Find out AI agents’ errors. C. Show more sympathy. D. Balance work and gaming time. 14. What concerns researchers about virtual agents? A. They can replace doctors one day. B. They may misdirect humans’ feelings. C. They may threaten humans’ mental health. D. They can replace humans in relationships. 15. What is the best title for the text? A. AI agents tend to be multifunctional B. People sympathize with bullied AI agents C. Overly human-like AI agents will be forbidden D. AI plays an important role in human relationships How Loneliness Is Killing Us Loneliness is absolutely an epidemic in our society, but it’s been growing for decades. I can deliberately isolate myself and feel great about that, but only you can tell if you’re lonely.  ___17___ In some studies, as many as 60% of people say that they feel lonely much of the time. Young adults aged 16 to 24 are the loneliest age group. There are many factors that are responsible for that.  Loneliness was on the rise from the 1950s in part because of the rise of private cars. We’ve become a much more mobile society where the networks of family and friends get loose as people move for jobs and other kinds of opportunities like education. ___18___ But then it tears us away from the communities we are born into and spend much of our lives creating. When television came into the American home, there was more of a decline in investing in our communities. And that was made worse as the digital revolution gave us more and more screens to look at.  Research finds loneliness is dangerous to our health. ___19___ In addition, people who are lonely in late life have more rapid brain decline.  The choice we can make to keep us on a good path of well-being is to invest in our relationships with other people. ___20___ You belong. You matter. You’re connected. A. It’s a very subjective experience. B. All of that is good on the one hand. C. You may feel lost and complain about your situation. D. I was quiet and shy, and I didn’t have many friends. During lunch, I usually sat alone, feeling invisible. I thought that no one would ever notice me, and I started to believe that something was wrong with me. Then, one day, a new girl named Sarah joined our class. She was everything I wasn’t — confident, outgoing, and friendly. She made friends with everyone quickly, and I admired her from a distance. I thought we were completely different and that someone like her would never be friends with someone like me. One day, our teacher announced that we would be paired up for a big science project. To my surprise, I was paired with Sarah. My first reaction was fear. How could I work with someone so different from me? I thought she wouldn’t like me and that I would just slow her down. The first time we sat together to plan our project, I was nervous and barely spoke. But to my surprise, Sarah didn’t seem bothered by my silence. She asked me questions, listened to my ideas, and encouraged me to share more. She was patient and kind, and little by little, I started to feel more comfortable. As we worked on the project over the next few weeks, I began to realize that Sarah and I had more in common than I had thought. We both loved reading, and we were both passionate about science. We worked hard together after school, building a model of the solar system for our project. But while we were working, we also talked about other things — our favorite books, our families, and our dreams for the future. Slowly, I realized that Sarah wasn't just the popular girl everyone liked; she was also someone who truly understood me. When we finally finished our project, we were proud of what we had created. We had built a detailed model of the solar system, complete with moving parts. But what mattered even more to me was that I had found a real friend during the process. A few days after we presented our project, something amazing happened. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ After the award ceremony, I went to Sarah and thanked her for believing in me. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 高三英语 (120分钟 150分) 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节 (共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面5段对话。 1.What is the man probably doing? B 5. C 6. A 7. 根据第一段第二句“She wanted to learn his mother tongue to strengthen their family bond. (她想学习他的母语以加强他们的家庭纽带。)”以及第三段第一句“So when my relationship with Arjun started looking serious because of difficulties in communicating, I decided to learn Malayalam. (因此,我和Arjun的关系开始步入正式阶段,但我们之间存在沟通障碍,于是我决定学习马拉雅拉姆语。)”可知,Elizabeth学习马拉雅拉姆语的直接目的是改善与丈夫Arjun的关系。 【5题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段第二、三、四句““However, I found that there weren’t enough resources to learn the language. Most books available were outdated or made for children. A small amount of material was often too difficult for casual language learners like me,” says the 35-year-old. (这位35岁的女士说,“然而,我发现没有足够的学习资源。大多数现有书籍要么过时,要么是给儿童编写的。少量材料对于像我这样的非正式语言学习者来说往往太难了。”)”可知,Elizabeth在学习过程中遇到的困难是缺乏适合的学习资源。 【6题详解】 细节理解题。根据第四段第三句““For me, the best way to learn is by explaining it to someone else, so I made a web page in 2018 to share my notes and small drawings,” she says. (她说,“对我来说,最好的学习方式是向他人解释,所以我在2018年创建了一个网页来分享我的笔记和小绘画。”)”可知,Elizabeth最初创建网页是为了通过分享笔记来辅助自己的学习,并非为了收集学习技巧、分享生活或专门教外国人马拉雅拉姆语。 【7题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段最后两句“It’s important to know English as it is a global language and helps when you go abroad, but the same respect should be given to native languages. They are the true way to a person’s heart,” says Elizabeth. A 9. D 10. D 11. 根据第二段中“The concept had been around since Roman times, but it took the fear of French invasion during the Napoleonic Wars to make it happen. In 1800, the parliament decided it needed to know how many men could be called on to defend the country against the enemies camped just across the Channel — and also how many aliens were living here. 根据第三段中“The census taker was usually chosen because he had some standing in the community. 根据第四段中“Some census takers took their jobs so seriously that they made personal notes as they went around. 以及“It was men like him, gathering personal data as well as basic statistical information, who helped to change the way the census was perceived and brought about new categories of information, such as the names, ages, occupations and birthplaces of each occupant, eventually introduced in the 1841 census. 根据最后一段“Census data is used to make decisions when it comes to public policy, resource allocation, and future planning, yet it is safe to say that it is not without its flaws that need to be improved to better reflect the needs and conditions of its people. AI plays an important role in human relationships 【答案】12. A 13. C 14. D 15. 根据第二段“Feeling empathy and taking corrective action against unfairness is something most humans appear hardwired to do. Prior studies not involving AI found that people tended to make up for rejected targets by throwing the ball to them more frequently, and that people also tended to dislike the troublemaker of exclusionary (排他的) behaviour while feeling preference and sympathy towards the target. 根据第三段“They found that most of the time, the participants tried to correct the unfairness towards the agent by favouring throwing the ball to the agent. Older participants were more likely to perceive unfairness. 根据第四段“This would mean users would likely intuitively (直觉地) include virtual agents as real team members and engage with them socially. 以及第五段“This, they say, can be an advantage for work cooperation but might be concerning where virtual agents are used as friends to replace human relationships, or as advisors on physical or mental health. 根据第一段“People are increasingly required to interact with AI virtual agents when accessing services, and many also use them as companions for social interaction. A study, which used a virtual ball game, highlights humans’ tendency to treat AI agents as social beings. However, the researchers suggest that developers should avoid designing agents as overly human-like.(人们在访问服务时越来越需要与人工智能虚拟代理进行交互,许多人还将其用作社交互动的伙伴。 How Loneliness Is Killing Us Loneliness is absolutely an epidemic in our society, but it’s been growing for decades. Loneliness is the sense that “I am less connected to other people than I want to be.” ___16___ And that makes it different from isolation (独处). D. Stress coming from loneliness causes physical breakdown. E. Since the 1950s, people have been less and less invested in other people. F. The call is open to research institutions, universities and high-tech enterprises. 36. crewed 37. has carried 38. relatively 39. be used 40. returning 41. which 42. a 43. in 44. proposals 45. to travel 【解析】 【导语】文章主要介绍了中国在2030年前将宇航员送上月球表面的登月计划,包括新一代飞船、着陆器、月球车等任务细节以及科学载荷征集的相关信息。 aid sb. in doing sth. Dear Chris, ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Yours, Li Hua 【答案】 One possible version: Dear Chris, I hope this email finds you well. Recently, I started playing basketball with my classmates every weekend. It’s been an exciting and challenging experience for me. Not only does the game help me stay active, but it also teaches me teamwork and strategy. After each session, I feel more energetic and motivated. It’s a great way to stay fit and clear my mind after a long week of studying. I believe regular exercise really improves both my physical and mental health. Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Recently, I started playing basketball with my classmates every weekend. It’s been an exciting and challenging experience for me. Recently, I started playing basketball with my classmates every weekend, which has been an exciting and challenging experience for me. 1】Not only does the game help me stay active, but it also teaches me teamwork and strategy.(运用了“Not only...but also...” 2】I believe regular exercise really improves both my physical and mental health.(运用了省略that的宾语从句,以及“both...and...” When I was in sixth grade, I had trouble fitting in. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 A few days after we presented our project, something amazing happened. Our teacher announced the winners of the science fair, and Sarah and I had won first place. I was shocked — I had never won anything before. I couldn’t believe that our hard work had paid off. When Sarah saw the look of surprise on my face, she smiled and said, “I knew we could do it. You’re smarter and more creative than you think.” Her words filled me with confidence, and for the first time, I felt proud of myself, not just for the project, but for who I am and what I can do. After the award ceremony, I went to Sarah and thanked her for believing in me. She smiled and said, “We make a great team. You should never doubt yourself.” Those were the words that stayed with me. From that day on, I started to believe in myself more. I began to speak up in class, share my ideas, and even make more friends. Sarah and I stayed close friends, and she always reminded me of my strengths. Winning the science fair was an incredible moment, but the real victory was finding my voice and learning to believe in myself. 词汇激活 行为类 ①宣布:announce/proclaim ②感谢:thank/express gratitude to ③开始:start/embark on 情绪类 ①感到震惊:be shocked/be stunned ②感到骄傲:feel proud of/take great pride in 【点睛】[高分句型1]Those were the words that stayed with me.(使用了关系代词that引导的定语从句,先行词为words) [高分句型2]Winning the science fair was an incredible moment, but the real victory was finding my voice and learning to believe in myself.(使用了动名词短语作主语) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
