A Memorable Family Moment
One memorable family moment I will never forget is our warm family brunch at home last Spring Festival.
We got up early and prepared the big meal together. My parents made tasty dumplings in the kitchen while I cut fresh fruit and prepared beautiful fruit plates. We laughed and chatted about our interesting school and work life. After we finished eating, we took a warm family photo.
Whenever I see this photo, I feel really happy and moved. I realize family love is the most precious treasure in my life. I truly value these simple but sweet family moments.

Abigail’s mother had to go to a meeting in the afternoon and asked her to take care of her younger brother, Harry. They planned to play basketball outside, but it started to rain.
Abigail looked at Harry nervously and said, “It’s raining too hard to go outside, so what would you like to do instead? Do you want to color with crayons?”
“No, it’s boring,” Harry said.
Abigail sighed (叹气). This was what she had worried about. “Come on, Harry. Please think of something you want to do.”
Harry’s face lit up as he asked, “Can we play hide-and-seek (捉迷藏)?”
Abigail stopped playing hide-and-seek years ago, but she wanted to do almost anything to keep Harry happy and out of trouble until their mother came home. She covered her eyes with her hands and started counting. When she reached fifty, she called out, “Ready or not? Here I come!”
Abigail started by looking in the family room and then made her way into the kitchen. As she wondered where Harry was hiding, the perfect place came into her head. She climbed to the attic (阁楼). “They can be used to make a wonderful necklace (项链) for Mom,” agreed Abigail.

C
When disagreement happens between teenagers and their family members, conflict is hard to avoid. Many teenagers choose to keep silent or get angry right away, but these ways seldom solve problems.
Experts suggest active communication is the key. When you feel angry, do not talk at once. You’d better calm yourself down first. If your feelings are out of control, you may say hurtful words you will regret later. It is wise to think over what you really want to express before speaking.
Besides controlling your own feelings, you also need to learn to listen. Listening does not mean you have to accept all the other person’s opinions. It just shows you respect their thoughts. When it is your turn to speak, describe your feelings instead of blaming others. For example, say “I feel worried when my free time is too limited” rather than “You always stop me from having fun”.
It takes patience to solve conflicts. You cannot expect all problems to disappear in one talk. Sometimes you need several talks to reach an agreement. Even when you cannot agree with each other, you can still respect each other and keep your relationship healthy.
31.What is the main idea of the first paragraph?
A.Teenagers have few conflicts with families.
B.Conflict is common but bad solving ways exist.
C.Keeping silent can solve most conflicts.
D.Anger helps teenagers express real thoughts.
32.What does the writer advise us to do when we get angry?
A.Keep talking without thinking. B.Say hurtful words to fight back.
C.Calm down before communication. D.Accept all other people’s opinions.
33.What does the underlined word “blaming” mean?
A.指责 B.安慰 C.怀疑 D.感谢
34.Which sentence is the proper way to talk during conflict?
A.“You never understand me.”
B.“I feel upset when I have no time for hobbies.”
C.“Everything is all your mistake.”
D.“I won’t listen to any of your words.”
35.What can we learn from the passage?
A.All conflicts can be solved in one conversation.
B.We must agree with others after listening.
C.Solving conflicts needs patience and proper skills.
D.Conflicts will disappear if we keep silent.
【答案】31.B 32.C 33.A 34.B 35.C
第一段指出青少年与家人的冲突难以避免“conflict is hard to avoid”,且沉默或生气很少能解决问题“ Many teenagers choose to keep silent or get angry right away, but these ways seldom solve problems.”。选项B“冲突很常见但存在不好的解决方式”概括了段意。
32.根据第二段“When you feel angry, do not talk at once. You’d better calm yourself down first.”可知,作者建议生气前先冷静。
33.根据第三段上下文,作者建议描述感受而不是“blaming others”,并举例对比说“我感到担心”而不是“你总是阻止我”。后者是一种指责的行为,因此“blaming”意为“指责”。
34.第三段“describe your feelings instead of blaming others”建议沟通时应描述感受而不是指责他人。选项B“I feel upset when...”
It’s often said that children are the apple of their parents’ eyes. As a son or daughter, you may also want to make your parents proud. Here are certain things you can do.
Talk to them as often as you can
Every parent wants their children to trust them enough to talk to them when they are happy and when they are feeling low. Therefore, don’t be afraid to call your parents when you feel the weight of the world. 36 Share your achievements, both big and small. Your parents are always ready to cheer for you.
37
One of the best things you can do for your parents is to be patient with them, which makes them feel loved. As they grow older, you need to understand that they become slower.
Be helpful
If you live at home, you can be a good son or daughter by helping around with housework. 38 Keeping it tidy is the first thing you can do. Help with laundry, make dinner and even set the table. Helping around ensures they have time to rest and do other things. 39
Respect them
You can do everything on this list, but without respecting your parents, nothing else you do matters. 40 If you have done wrong, apologize and avoid repeating the same mistake again. When you are out with friends, call your parents and let them know you’re okay. When you show them respect, it can go a long way in strengthening your relationship with them.
A.Have patience with them.
B.Start by cleaning your own room.
C.It feels good when you help keep things together.
D.Your parents can share your worries.
E.When they are talking, you listen without cutting in on them.
F.The same way you would call them when happy.
【答案】36.F 37.A 38.B 39.C 40.E

【详解】36.根据空前句“don’t be afraid to call your parents when you feel the weight of the world”(当你感到压力重重时不要害怕给父母打电话)以及空后句“Share your achievements”(分享你的成就),可知此处意在表达无论难过还是高兴都应联系父母。F选项“The same way you would call them when happy.”承上启下,符合语境。
37.此处位于小标题位置。该段下文主要讲述“One of the best things you can do for your parents is to be patient with them”(能为父母做的最好的事情之一就是对他们有耐心)。A选项“Have patience with them”(对他们有耐心)概括了本段主旨,且与其他小标题句式一致。
38.根据空后句“Keeping it tidy is the first thing you can do”(保持它整洁是你能做的第一件事),代词“it”指代某个空间。B选项“Start by cleaning your own room”(从打扫你自己的房间开始)提供了“room”这一先行词,前后逻辑连贯。
空后句提到“If you have done wrong, apologize”(如果你做错了要道歉),这是尊重的表现之一。E选项“When they are talking, you listen without cutting in on them”(当他们说话时,你倾听而不打断)也是尊重父母的具体行为,符合段落主题。

How to Develop a Better Relationship with Your Parents
As students, developing a good relationship with your parents is very important. But most of the time, there are all kinds of problems between you and your parents. If you are looking for ways to solve these problems, you are not alone. The following suggestions may be helpful.
First, express thanks to your parents. Consider all your parents have done for you; all the ways that they have helped you; all the ways they have influenced how you think. You may find yourself feeling thankful for your parents and more willing to improve the relationship. Then express your thanks with your actions. Get them a nice gift or do some extra housework without being asked. They will likely be happy with you for this.
Second, think about problems from their perspective (角度) . It’s necessary to do so—because everyone is different. You should also accept that your parents are different. They grow up in different times with different ways of thinking. If you have a poor relationship with your parents just because you finish your homework with the help of the Internet, talk with them about your opinion patiently. They will understand you.
Last, be open and honest. One way to improve your relationship is to be more willing to discuss uncomfortable topics with your parents. You should have an in-depth (深入的) talk with your parents once a week. This will help to build trust in your relationship with them, which will improve your relationship with them. If you listen to your parents, they will be more likely to listen to you.
41.What should you do first to develop a better relationship with your parents?
42.How can you thank your parents with actions according to the text? (写出一个答案即可)

As long as I can recall, family dinners have always been a part of my life. Since I was a little boy, my mom has always told us that we must have family dinners at least once a week. So every Sunday, a big meal 56 (cook) all morning and then brought to my grandma’s house. Then we wait for all family members to come before we eat at the table, my grandma’s old wooden table.
I used to think this tradition was boring and unnecessary. However, everything changed 57 that rainy Sunday. I failed 58 important exam at school, which made me so upset. At dinner, everyone listened to me quietly and patiently, then they tried to give me warm advice. My uncles shared their own embarrassing 59 (story), while my cousins patted my shoulder gently, encouraging me to keep trying. That night, sitting under the warm lamplight, I 60 (feel) the deep, silent love from my family.
I finally understand the true meaning of this tradition. Dinner is not about delicious food or fun activities, 61 a chance to connect with each other 62 (deep). This tradition has brought us closer. Actually, it is the 63 (valuable) gift in my life.
Now I find it wonderful 64 (gather) as a family and talk about 65 (we) days after a busy week. I’m always expecting Sunday to come.

The floor was so dirty that she easily followed Harry’s footprints (脚印) to his hiding place behind some boxes.

Family Traditions Around the World
Every family has its own traditions that are passed down from generation to generation. These traditions help families stay connected and share their values.
In China, the Spring Festival is the most important family tradition. Families gather together to have a big dinner on New Year’s Eve. They also clean their houses to sweep away bad luck and put up red decorations for good fortune. Children receive red envelopes filled with money from elders.
In the United States, Thanksgiving is a beloved tradition. Every year on the fourth Thursday of November, families gather to eat turkey, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie. They take turns sharing what they are thankful for. This tradition started in the 17th century when European settlers thanked Native Americans for their help.
In Japan, Oshogatsu (New Year) is a time for family reunions. People clean their homes and decorate with kadomatsu (bamboo arrangements). They visit temples to pray for a happy new year. Families also make mochi (rice cakes) together, which symbolizes good luck and strength.

(写出一个答案即可)
