Among all the natural wonders in the world, Lake Baikal in Russia always impresses (给……留下深刻印象) me the most. It is not just a lake, but a wonder created by nature, full of unique (独特的) beauty and secrets.
Lake Baikal is one of the oldest lakes on Earth, with a history of about 25 million years. It is also the deepest freshwater lake in the world, reaching a depth of 1,637 meters. The lake lies in the shape of a new moon, and its water is so clear that you can see small fish swimming freely beneath (在……下面) the surface. In summer, the lake looks like a huge blue mirror, reflecting the green mountains around it. In winter, the lake freezes, and the ice becomes as thick as 60 centimeters, creating a world of white and blue.
What makes Lake Baikal truly special is its rich ecosystem (生态系统). It is home to over 1,700 species of plants and animals, and two-thirds of them can’t be found anywhere else in the world. For example, the Baikal seal is a unique animal that only lives here. The lake also provides clean water for millions of people nearby and helps regulate (调控) the local climate.
People from all over the world come to visit Lake Baikal every year. They enjoy the beautiful scenery, take a boat trip on the lake, or walk along the shore. But more importantly, they come to feel the power of nature. Standing by the lake, you will realize how small humans are compared to nature.
Lake Baikal is a wonderful gift from nature. It is our duty to protect it. We should stop polluting the water and avoid damaging (毁坏) the ecosystem. Only in this way can we keep this natural wonder beautiful for future generations.

When we talk about stress in our lives, we may think of bad situations and feelings. Negative stress is a problem which can be bad for our physical and mental health. However, not all stress is bad. There is also some positive stress.
In fact, there is a kind of stress known as positive stress which plays an important role in our happiness. It is the feeling you experience when you challenge yourself. It might make you feel a little uncomfortable, but it has to do with something you want to get. This kind of stress pushes you to perform at your best and fills you with a sense of hope and achievement.
You also feel positive stress when there’s a distance between what you have and what you want. And if you work hard, you can make it. In other words, what you want to realize is difficult but not impossible.
Knowing the difference between negative stress and positive stress can help build resilience (恢复力). If we see something as a threat (威胁), our worry will become greater. However, if we see it as a challenge, we can try to accept it. We need to tell ourselves to develop a positive mind. This will help us solve the problems in our lives. By doing so, we won’t worry about what bad results they may cause.
To create more positive stress in your life, try doing activities that push your limits (极限). Exercise is a great way. You can also challenge yourself by learning something new every day. It doesn’t matter if it’s big or small.
23.Why does the writer talk about negative stress in Paragraph 1?
A.To teach us how to control stress. B.To explain where stress comes from.
C.To prepare for talking about positive stress. D.To describe different kinds of positive stress.
24.In what situation may you experience positive stress?
A.Trying to challenge yourself. B.Watching a movie with friends.
C.Lying in bed doing nothing. D.Buying something useful.
25.What do we need to do when we accept our worry?
A.Share our worries with friends. B.Develop a positive mind.
C.Solve the problem by ourselves. D.Avoid worrying about it.
26.What is the best title for the text?
A.How to Stop Negative Stress. B.How to Create Positive Stress.
C.Positive Stress in Our Lives. D.Negative Stress in Our Lives.

A rainbow is one of the most beautiful natural wonders in the world. It appears when sunlight and raindrops meet in the right way. Sunlight may look white, but it is actually made up of seven different colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. When sunlight travels through a raindrop, water changes the light and divides it into seven colors. This process is called “refraction (折射)”.
After the light breaks up, it turns back inside the raindrop and changes direction when it comes out. The colored light then travels to our eyes, and we see a rainbow. You can only see a rainbow when the sun is behind you and the rain is in front of you. Rainbows usually appear in the sky after a rainstorm when the sun comes out. They are always curved (弧形的) because the raindrops are round. Sometimes you can see two rainbows. The second one looks lighter and its colors are in the opposite order. This happens when the light reflects (反射) twice inside the raindrops.
Rainbows are not just beautiful—they are also a great example of how light works in nature. We can hardly touch them, yet this magical sight always brings joy and surprise to people of all ages.
27.When does a rainbow appear?

③The light is divided into seven colors.
