根据第一段中“The main purpose of the journal is to present innovative approaches concerning all scientific aspects related to heritage science.(本刊的主要目的是介绍与遗产科学有关的所有科学方面的创新方法)”可知,该期刊的主要目的是提供遗产科学的新方法。 根据BENEFITS TO AUTHORS 中“Payment $60 per thousand words(稿费 每千字支付60美元)”以及“Early submission bonus a $15 bonus if submitted before the 10th of every month(提前提交奖金:如果在每10号之前提交,将获得15美元奖金)”可知,文章提到稿费是每千字60美元,2000字的文章稿费应为2×60=120美元。 B All I had to do for the small sum of money was to take care of the old man in the neighborhood for a few hours every day. It was a peaceful task in a nice house filled with things that were rare in my own home. Caring for him gave me a feeling of achievement. I could use part of the money to buy some books I longed for and also help my family with daily expenses. I wasn’t like those children who had nothing to do but play. I had a role that made me feel important and grown-up. I received kind words and grateful looks from the old man and his family, which made me stand out from just being an ordinary child. In those times, children were not just for fun; they were useful. They could assist the elderly, run errands, and do simple household repairs. But now, it seems children are mainly focused on studies and hobbies. They are pampered and have few real responsibilities. Gradually, I became better at taking care of the old man. I learned how to cook simple meals for him and keep him company in a more engaging way. He started to give me some old but valuable collectibles as a reward. I was excited to have them as they were things I could never afford before. Still, I sometimes felt a bit overworked. But I was reluctant to complain. I knew my parents would tell me to be grateful for the opportunity. One day, when I was talking to my grandfather, I let out my feelings. He then said, “Child, you are doing a good thing. But remember, you are not defined by this job. You have your own life and dreams. The work is just a part of your experience, not the whole of you.” Since then, I have engaged in various activities and tasks, some easy and some difficult. But I have always remembered my grandfather’s words and never let any work overshadow my sense of self or my personal goals. 4. What mainly made the author feel a sense of achievement in taking care of the old man? A. The ability to afford personal hobbies. B. The respect from the old man and his family. C. The opportunity to learn new skills. D. The praise from the neighbors. 5. Which of the following best describes the author’s trait? A. Diligent and ambitious. B. Capable and self-aware. C. Sensitive and obedient. D. Outgoing and helpful. 6. What did the author’s grandfather make him/her understand? A. To focus on personal growth rather than just work. B. To be more patient when dealing with difficulties. C. To value the relationship with the elderly. D. To be brave in asking for a better reward. 7. What is the main message the author wants to convey? A. The importance of family support in personal development. B. The significance of early work experience for children. C. Not to let work define one’s identity and worth. D. The value of helping the elderly in the community. B 5. B 6. A 7. 根据第二段中“I received kind words and grateful looks from the old man and his family, which made me stand out from just being an ordinary child.( 我从老人和他的家人那里得到了亲切的话语和感激的目光,这让我从一个普通的孩子中脱颖而出。)”以及 “Caring for him gave me a feeling of achievement.( 照顾他给了我一种成就感。)” 根据第四段中“Gradually, I became better at taking care of the old man. I learned how to cook simple meals for him and keep him company in a more engaging way.( 渐渐地,我变得更善于照顾老人了。我学会了如何为他做简单的饭菜,并以一种更有吸引力的方式陪伴他。)”说明作者有能力照顾老人。以及最后一段中“But I have always remembered my grandfather’s words and never let any work overshadow my sense of self or my personal goals.( 但我一直记得祖父的话,从不让任何工作掩盖我的自我意识或个人目标。)” 根据倒数第二段中“Child, you are doing a good thing. But remember, you are not defined by this job. You have your own life and dreams. The work is just a part of your experience, not the whole of you.( 然后他说:“孩子,你做了一件好事。但请记住,你不是由这份工作来定义的。你有自己的生活和梦想。工作只是你经历的一部分,而不是你的全部。”)”可知,爷爷让作者明白不能被这份工作定义,作者有自己的生活和梦想,工作只是经历的一部分,也就是要关注个人成长而不仅仅是工作。故选A项。 通读全文以及最后一段“Since then, I have engaged in various activities and tasks, some easy and some difficult. But I have always remembered my grandfather’s words and never let any work overshadow my sense of self or my personal goals.( 从那时起,我从事了各种各样的活动和任务,有些容易,有些困难。但我一直记得祖父的话,从不让任何工作掩盖我的自我意识或个人目标。)”可知,文章主要讲述了作者照顾老人的经历以及爷爷的话对作者的影响,作者从爷爷的话中领悟到即不要让任何工作掩盖自我意识和个人目标,也就是不要让工作定义一个人的身份和价值。由此可推知,作者想要传达的主要信息是不要让工作定义一个人的身份和价值。故选C项。 C The playground at Lake County Intermediate School in Leadville, Colorado, underwent a much-needed makeover (翻新) in the spring of 2018. The old equipment, including a few swings, a damaged basketball court, and a play area of dirt, was replaced with a new setup. Having noticed the problem, the local community set up colorful slides, double swings, a new basketball court and a grassy play area. Kids also gained access to a variety of loose equipment, such as balls and Hula-Hoops. The makeover not only improved the playground’s appearance but also had a significant impact on children’s activity levels. To assess the impact, Elena Kuo, a senior consultant at Washington Health Research Institute, and her team conducted pre-and post-intervention observations and follow-up assessments one year later. They found that the share of children engaging in energetic physical activity doubled following the makeover. Remarkably, this increased activity level lasted even a year later. “A lot of things, when they’re new and shiny, lead to increased physical activity, which sometimes lasts long,” says Elena Kuo, “That’s why it’s a pretty exciting finding.” Being physically active has many benefits for kids: It reduces obesity (肥胖) risk and improves overall physical and mental health, promotes social and emotional development and boosts academic performance. The WHO (World Health Organization) recommends that schoolchildren get 60 minutes of mild to energetic activity every day. Most kids fall far short of that goal. Globally, 81 percent of 11-to 17-year-olds fail to reach that level, according to an analysis reported in the Lancet. Scientists across the globe are studying how to make full use of the opportunity that playgrounds provide. Research teams are using digital cameras, GPS tags and other wearable technology to study how kids behave on playgrounds and are conducting random controlled trials to assess whether certain playground features, programs and designs can encourage kids to move more. 8. What may be the primary reason for the school’s playground makeover? A. To improve the appearance of the playground. B. To equip the local community with sports facilities. C. To increase students’ participation in physical activity. D. To support a study on the impact of playground design. 9. What do Elena Kuo’ words “a pretty exciting finding” refer to? A. The new and shiny playground facilities. B. The continued impact of the makeover. C. The overall benefits of exercises for children. D. The passion of kids for physical activity. 10. What research method was used in the study of Elena Kuo’ team? A. Observing and tracking children’s behavior. B. Interviewing students and teachers randomly. C. Assessing children’s physical and mental problems. D. Comparing their data with WHO’s activity guidelines. 11. What can we learn from the last paragraph? A. Scientists are worrying about the safety of playgrounds. B. Scientists are updating playgrounds with modern equipment. C. Scientists are applying technology to encourage kids to move. D. Scientists are studying playgrounds to boost kids’ physical activity. C 9. B 10. A 11. 根据第二段“Having noticed the problem, the local community set up colorful slides, double swings, a new basketball court and a grassy play area. Kids also gained access to a variety of loose equipment, such as balls and Hula-Hoops.(注意到这个问题后,当地社区设置了彩色滑梯、双人秋千、一个新的篮球场和一个草地游乐区。孩子们还可以接触到各种各样的松散设备,比如球和呼啦圈)”以及第三段“The makeover not only improved the playground’s appearance but also had a significant impact on children’s activity levels. (改造不仅改善了操场的外观,而且对孩子们的活动水平产生了重大影响)”可推知,学校操场翻新的主要原因是增加学生参与体育活动。故选C项。 【9题详解】 词句猜测题。根据第三段中“They found that the share of children engaging in energetic physical activity doubled following the makeover. Remarkably, this increased activity level lasted even a year later.(他们发现,改造后参加剧烈体育活动的儿童比例翻了一番。值得注意的是,这种增加的活动水平甚至持续了一年)”及划线词前文““A lot of things, when they’re new and shiny, lead to increased physical activity, which sometimes lasts long,” says Elena Kuo(Elena Kuo说:“很多东西,当它们是新的和闪亮的,会导致身体活动的增加,有时会持续很长时间”)”可知,“一个非常令人兴奋的发现”指的是操场翻新的持续影响。 根据第三段中“To assess the impact, Elena Kuo, a senior consultant at Washington Health Research Institute, and her team conducted pre-and post-intervention observations and follow-up assessments one year later.(为了评估影响,华盛顿健康研究所的高级顾问Elena Kuo和她的团队进行了干预前后的观察,并在一年后进行了后续评估)”可推知,Elena Kuo团队的研究采用了观察和跟踪孩子的行为的方法。故选A项。 根据最后一段“Scientists across the globe are studying how to make full use of the opportunity that playgrounds provide. Research teams are using digital cameras, GPS tags and other wearable technology to study how kids behave on playgrounds and are conducting random controlled trials to assess whether certain playground features, programs and designs can encourage kids to move more.(全球的科学家都在研究如何充分利用操场提供的机会。研究团队正在使用数码相机、GPS标签和其他可穿戴技术来研究孩子们在操场上的行为,并进行随机对照试验,以评估某些操场功能、项目和设计是否能鼓励孩子们多动)”可知,科学家们正在研究操场来促进孩子们的体育活动。故选D项。 D In recent years, much of my life, as a consumer has shifted to what I like to call background spending. As I’ve subscribed to more apps and streaming platforms, significant sums of my money tend to slip away each month without my ever thinking about it. Think of it as automated trade. Spending without the trouble of spending. Acquisition without action or thought. But while this flood of subscriptions was sold to me on the condition that it would make my life more trouble free, there was a certain shock I felt upon discovering how much I was spending without realizing each month ($179.45). You see, the thing about background spending is that it tends to happen, well, in the background without your full attention. And there lies the point. “Hand over your credit card details and let us take care of the rest,” these companies promise us. But by agreeing to this trade, we’ve become lazy passive consumers. And this laziness breeds more laziness because most of us can’t be bothered with conducting regular reviews of our subscription spending. We’re too lazy to even notice or cancel! I know it’s not just me who is suddenly living life as a smooth-brained subscriber. The average consumer spends $273 per month on subscriptions, according to a 2021 study of 2,500 by digital services firm West Monroe. Not a single person surveyed knew what his actual monthly spending was. It’s understandable why this model is so attractive to businesses. As companies questioned traditional advertising models, subscriptions offered the promise of “selling once and earning forever.” And while subscription services have been around for decades (think Wine of the Month Club), more customers have been willing to sign up thanks to the widespread availability of smartphones and the increasing ease of home delivery. While these subscriptions promise ease and happiness, not all of us are satisfied. Last year, the Kearney Consumer Institute found 40 percent of consumers believe they have too many subscriptions. Almost half of us also think we pay too much for streaming video-on-demand subscriptions. 12. What can we know about background spending in paragraph 2? A. Its purpose. B. Its feature. C. Its procedure. D. Its requirement. 13. What makes it possible for background spending to happen? A. Its attractive price. B. Some people’s poor habit. C. Its secure service. D. Some people’s addiction to it. 14. Why is the subscription model appealing to businesses? A. It offers good home delivery services. B. It is like traditional advertising models. C. It is popular among smartphone producers. D. It brings repeated profits through a single sale. 15. What’s the author’s attitude towards background spending? A. Supportive. B. Optimistic. C. Critical. D. Unclear. B 13. B 14. D 15. 根据第二段“Think of it as automated trade. Spending without the trouble of spending. Acquisition without action or thought. (可以把它想象成自动交易。花钱而不用花钱的麻烦。没有行动或思想的获得。)”可知,作者是在描述背景支出的特征,即它是一种自动化的、不需要思考或行动的消费。故选B项。 【13题详解】 推理判断题。根据第五段““Hand over your credit card details and let us take care of the rest,” these companies promise us. But by agreeing to this trade, we’ve become lazy passive consumers. And this laziness breeds more laziness because most of us can’t be bothered with conducting regular reviews of our subscription spending. We’re too lazy to even notice or cancel! (这些公司向我们承诺:“交出你的信用卡信息,让我们来处理剩下的事情。”但是通过同意这种交易,我们变成了懒惰的被动消费者。这种懒惰滋生了更多的懒惰,因为我们大多数人都懒得定期检查我们的订阅支出。我们懒得去注意或取消!)”以及第六段中“Not a single person surveyed knew what his actual monthly spending was. (没有一个接受调查的人知道自己每月的实际支出是多少)”可知,是有些人的坏习惯让后台支出成为可能。故选B项。 【14题详解】 推理判断题。根据倒数第二段“It’s understandable why this model is so attractive to businesses. (可以理解为什么这种模式对企业如此有吸引力。当公司质疑传统的广告模式时,订阅提供了“一次销售,永远盈利”的承诺。虽然订阅服务已经存在了几十年(想想月度葡萄酒俱乐部),但由于智能手机的普及和送货上门的日益便利,越来越多的客户愿意注册。)”可知,因为订阅模式通过一次销售带来了重复的利润,所以对企业有吸引力。故选D项。 【15题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“While these subscriptions promise ease and happiness, not all of us are satisfied. Last year, the Kearney Consumer Institute found 40 percent of consumers believe they have too many subscriptions. Almost half of us also think we pay too much for streaming video-on-demand subscriptions. Sometimes it seems that we can’t feel any joy in life. We all have such bad days. However, an inability to feel joy is not the norm and requires attention. ____16____ Luckily, there are steps we can take to generate joy. ____17____ Learning to recognize emotions that inhibit (抑制) our ability to access joy. This can help us gain access to our positive core emotions. For example, when we feel anxious, slow down, breathe and name the emotion. Once the body feels calm, we get curious about the emotion’s meaning. We may ask, “What is this emotion protecting me from?” and “If you move this emotion aside, what’s underneath?” Pay someone a compliment (称赞). ____18____ So witnessing someone else’s happiness can make us smile, too. Complimenting a friend or co-worker can help. Saying “It’s nice to see you today” goes a long way. They may smile or show appreciation for your kind words. Witnessing their joy and happiness will lift your spirits. Enjoy small moments of pleasure. Imagine you’re a joy detective and try to identify one positive interaction that you’ve experienced recently. ____19____ When you notice a positive feeling, try to stay with the moment. In the long run, it will lengthen our experience of positive emotions. Smile, even when you don’t feel like it. When we’re feeling down, smiling may be the last thing on our mind. However, turning up the corners of your mouth can lower stress and boost your mood. It is a good way to watch a funny movie. Notice what happens when you laugh or smile. ____20____ A. Get out of a bad mood. B. Watch out for joy blockers. C. Emotions tend to spread rapidly among people. D. This may remind you of a past pleasant experience. E. Perhaps it was a warm conversation or dinner with a friend. F. Chances are that you’ll experience a wave of joy, even for a moment. G. Joylessness can affect our mental health, relationship and well-being. 16. G 17. B 18. C 19. E 20. This can help us gain access to our positive core emotions. For example, when we feel anxious, slow down, breathe and name the emotion. Once the body feels calm, we get curious about the emotion’s meaning. We may ask, “What is this emotion protecting me from?” and “If you move this emotion aside, what’s underneath?”(学会识别那些抑制我们获得快乐能力的情绪。 【18题详解】 根据下文内容“So witnessing someone else’s happiness can make us smile, too. 【19题详解】 根据空前内容“Imagine you’re a joy detective and try to identify one positive interaction that you’ve experienced recently.(想象你是一个快乐侦探,试着找出你最近经历过的一个积极的互动)”可知,上文要求读者想象自己是一个快乐的侦探,并尝试找出最近经历的一次积极的互动。 F“Chances are that you’ll experience a wave of joy, even for a moment.(你很有可能会感受到一阵快乐,哪怕这种快乐只是短暂的)”指出笑或微笑很可能会让你体验到一阵快乐,哪怕只是短暂的,这与上文的内容相呼应。 Among the chaos of Hurricane Francine, a dramatic rescue unfolded on live television. Each time he heard that sound, Mark’s heart sank. He shifted uncomfortably, trying to focus on the screen, but his mind kept returning to the damage the cigarettes were doing to his father’s lungs. Mark couldn’t understand it. His dad was brilliant and spent quality time with him — why would he risk his health? What if it led to an early death? Had he ever considered how heartbroken it would make him and his mom? Mark’s mind wandered back to a conversation he had overheard between his parents. His mom had been pleading (恳求) with his dad, her voice full of worry. “You need to think about your health, for Mark’s sake if not for your own,” she had said. But his dad just brushed her off, saying he was too stressed to quit. One evening, Mark approached his mom to discuss the issue. “I’ve tried to persuade him to quit,” Mark’s mom expressed with a sigh. “But he always gets annoyed whenever I bring up the subject.” She looked tired and defeated. “At least your dad is considerate with his smoking; he never does it indoors or around others. He even changes his clothes to prevent us from smelling the smoke. Despite that, it’s still so hard on him, on us...” The next day at school, Mark was playing basketball with his classmate Tim on the court. “Hey, does either of your parents smoke?” he asked. “Yeah, my dad smokes, but he’s cut down in the past year,” replied Tim. “Oh, how did he do that?” Mark asked curiously. “I don’t really know what happened. I guess he just realized it was time for a change,” said Tim, as he threw the ball back to Mark. The reply gave Mark a ray of hope — and an idea. Mark decided to take action. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The next day, Mark found a note from his dad on his bed. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】范文: Mark decided to take action. He started by moving his dad’s cigarettes from their usual spot and replacing them with printed statistics about the harmful effects of smoking. He also hid the cigarette lighters, thinking that even a small inconvenience might help. Moreover, he spent hours researching online, finding stories of people who had successfully quit, hoping they would inspire his dad. Finally, he wrote a heartfelt letter titled “Please Stop Smoking” and left it on his dad’s pillow. The next day, Mark found a note from his dad on his bed. It read, “Son, I truly appreciate your efforts. I know it’s bad for me and I want to stop too, but it’s tough.” Recognizing his dad’s struggle, Mark shifted his approach from persuasion to partnership. They became a team, talking openly about triggers, trying nicotine gum together, and marking progress on a calendar. As a united front, the journey became easier. His dad’s consumption decreased, and each milestone, big or small, strengthened their shared resolve. It was no longer just about quitting smoking, but about facing difficulties together as a family. 词汇激活 行为类 ①替换:replace/substitute/take the place of ②藏起:hide/conceal ③意识到:recognize/realize 情绪类 ①感激:appreciate/thank ②坚定:resolve/determination 【点睛】[高分句型1] He also hid the cigarette lighters, thinking that even a small inconvenience might help.(运用了现在分词短语作状语以及that引导宾语从句) [高分句型2] Finally, he wrote a heartfelt letter titled “Please Stop Smoking” and left it on his dad’s pillow.(运用了过去分词短语作后置定语) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2026—2027学年暑假自主学习评价 英语 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面5段对话。 1. B All I had to do for the small sum of money was to take care of the old man in the neighborhood for a few hours every day. C The playground at Lake County Intermediate School in Leadville, Colorado, underwent a much-needed makeover (翻新) in the spring of 2018. D In recent years, much of my life, as a consumer has shifted to what I like to call background spending. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
