Passage 02
On January 13, 2026, the world’s first 20-megawatt offshore wind turbine was successfully completed in the waters off East China’s Fujian Province.
This wind turbine is 30 kilometers off the coast of Fujian, in seawater more than 40 meters deep. It shows that big wind power projects can work well in challenging ocean conditions. After starting up, the huge fan will create 80 million kilowatt-hours (千瓦时) of energy every year—enough for 44,000 families to use. It is also expected to save about 24,000 tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions (二氧化碳排放) by about 64,000 tons every year.
As the world’s largest wind turbine, it is part of an important national research and development program for China, with all its necessary parts independently developed and produced domestically instead of being bought from foreign countries.
China has been the world leader in wind power, with more wind energy than any other country—over 40% of the world’s total. By November 2025, it had over 600 million kilowatts of wind power, far more than other countries. Wind power plays a key role in China’s move towards cleaner, greener energy: there are huge wind farms on land in the north and west, and more wind farms are quickly being built at sea along the east, providing clean electricity to millions of homes and helping cut carbon emissions.
China also shares its green progress with the world. Official reports show that from 2021 to 2025, the wind and solar (太阳能) products China sold to other countries helped cut carbon emissions by about 4,100,000 tons. With the world’s biggest renewable energy system, new technology, and strong government support, it will keep working with other nations to help the world move to clean, low-carbon energy and build a cleaner, greener future for everyone.
1.What is special about the 20-megawatt offshore wind turbine?
A.It is expected to produce tons of standard coal.
B.It is the largest machine used in ocean projects.
C.It is working well in challenging ocean conditions.
D.It is the first wind turbine in Fujian’s offshore areas.
2.What can we infer from Paragraph 4?
A.China has great advantages in wind power.
B.China has found other cleaner energies recently.
C.Wind power has been widely used in every country.
D.Wind power growth will slow down later in China.
3.What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 5 refer to?
A.The wind turbine. B.The government support.
C.The new technology. D.The renewable energy system
4.How does China share its green progress with other countries?
A.By sharing official reports with them. B.By selling them wind and solar products.
C.By cutting carbon to 4,100,000 tons. D.By helping them build the biggest energy system.
5.Which can be the best title for the text?
A.Different Uses of Wind Power B.Wind Turbines All Over the World
C.China’s New Wind Power Achievements D.The Changes of Wind Energy to Daily Life

Passage 03
Nowadays global warming has drawn people’s attention all over the world, and living a low-carbon lifestyle has become a popular idea to protect our earth. Low-carbon life means cutting down unnecessary carbon gas emission in daily small activities. Many bad daily living habits produce plenty of extra carbon, such as driving private cars every day, using disposable chopsticks and plastic bags, keeping electric lights on when no one is in the room and ordering too much takeout food which causes lots of waste.
Changing small habits can make great differences for environment protection. Choosing shared bikes or public buses instead of driving private cars helps reduce harmful waste gas into the air. Using reusable cloth shopping bags instead of plastic bags can cut down white pollution. Saving tap water while washing hands and turning off unused lights help save power resources. All these simple actions are easy for every common person to carry out at home.
Many families in China have started low-carbon daily activities in recent years. Parents set good examples for kids by practicing green living rules at home, and children also learn to form eco-friendly habits from daily life. The writer calls on every reader to start low-carbon life from tiny things, because small efforts from thousands of people will finally slow down global warming and protect our living planet.
1.Which action belongs to low-carbon life?
A.Drive private cars every day. B.Use disposable tableware.
C.Use reusable cloth shopping bags. D.Leave all lights on all day.
2.What leads to much carbon emission in daily life?
A.Unhealthy living habits. B.Natural climate change.
C.Increasing forest area. D.Reduced factory production.
3.How does riding shared bikes protect environment?
A.Reduce car waste gas. B.Save house space.
C.Cut down food cost. D.Improve sleeping quality.
4.What suggestion does the writer give to families?
A.Buy more new furniture. B.Save water and electricity.
C.Travel abroad frequently. D.Eat takeout every single day.
5.What’s the writing purpose of the text?
A.Introduce new kinds of vehicles. B.Call for people to live low-carbon life.
C.Show all environmental damage results. D.Explain how climate forms naturally.
Passage 04
In China, something amazing is happening. Many old landfills, once called “garbage mountains,” are changing. They are no longer just smelly places. 1 They are becoming valuable green spaces, energy sources or even land for new industries.
How is this change possible? There are mainly three ways. First, some are turned into beautiful parks or green lands. For example, a big landfill in Hangzhou is now an ecological park with trees and clean air. 2 It shows that taking care of the environment can also bring benefits to the community.
Second, technology helps us use waste as a resource. People now turn waste into electricity, gas or building materials. In Fuzhou, there is a special industrial park where almost nothing is wasted. The garbage is “eaten up” to produce things we can use. 3 This not only deals with waste but also creates new value.
Finally, in big cities where land is very expensive, old landfills are being completely cleaned up. 4 In Shenzhen, a huge old landfill was removed. The cleaned land will be used to build a new center for future industries like artificial intelligence. This turns a past problem into a future opportunity.
5 It mixes environmental care, smart technology and good planning. It proves that protecting our planet can go hand in hand with creating a better, richer life for everyone.
A.The park is loved by people living nearby.
B.This clean energy can power thousands of homes.
C.Instead, they are starting a new and useful life.
D.The goal is to create clean land for new industries and buildings.
E.This change from waste to wealth is truly wonderful.

3.根据前文“The garbage is 'eaten up' to produce things we can use.”和后文“This not only deals with waste but also creates new value.”可知,此处需说明垃圾转化的能源用途,对应选项B“This clean energy can power thousands of homes.”,故选B。
4.根据前文“old landfills are being completely cleaned up.”和后文“the cleaned land will be used to build a new center for future industries”可知,此处需说明清理的目的,对应选项D“The goal is to create clean land for new industries and buildings.”,故选D。
5.根据后文“It mixes environmental care, smart technology and good planning. It proves that protecting our planet can go hand in hand with creating a better, richer life for everyone.”可知,此处需总结全文变废为宝的主题,对应选项E“This change from waste to wealth is truly wonderful.”,故选E。
