Digital technology makes life easier for the disabled people (残疾人). For example, a new kind of smart walking stick for the blind can notice anything nearby, and then warn the person of the danger. It can also tell the owner how to get somewhere and let the owner know the bus and train timetables. It will make the lives of blind people safer and easier.
Digital technology makes it easier to share things we learn. It gives students the same chance to learn. According to a report, over 22% of the Indians couldn’t read or write. To change this situation, Indian schools in poor areas were given a powerful internet connection. They can now enjoy wonderful online lessons taught at a top school in New Delhi.
Firefighting robots are saving lives. They can walk, run, climb and get in touch with people caught in a fire. While the robots move around, they send video messages to the main unit. The Internet is a great tool for teenagers. We can use it to learn knowledge, communicate with friends, and look for information. However, using the Internet also has some risks. How to use the Internet in a healthy and safe way is an important lesson for every student.
First, we should check the truth of online information. Not all information on the Internet is true. Some people may post false news to get attention. Before we believe or share a piece of news, we should check it on official websites. Second, we need to protect our personal information. We should never tell strangers our real name, address, phone number or school name online. These pieces of information may be used by bad people to cheat us. Third, we should control our screen time. Spending too much time on the Internet is bad for our eyes and study. It’s better to set a time limit, such as one hour a day, for using the Internet after school.
Last month, our school held an “Internet Safety Week”. We had lectures, watched videos and took part in a quiz about online safety. After the activities, all students said they learned a lot. “I used to share every photo of my life online. Now I know I should be more careful,” said Li Mei, a Grade 8 student.
The Internet is like a double-edged sword (双刃剑). If we use it well, it will help us grow. If not, it will bring us trouble.
16.What does the writer think of the Internet for teenagers?
A.It is only a great tool for learning. B.It has both advantages and disadvantages.
C.It is too dangerous for teenagers to use. D.It is the best way to communicate with friends.
17.What should we do before believing online information?
A.Share it with our friends at once. B.Post it on our own social media.
C.Check it on official websites. D.Ask strangers for their opinions.
18.Which of the following is NOT a way to protect ourselves online?
A.Keeping our personal information secret. B.Setting a time limit for using the Internet.
C.Believing all the news we see online. D.Taking part in online safety activities.
19.What activity did the school hold last month?
A.A school farm project. B.An Internet Safety Week.
C.A lecture about growing vegetables. D.A quiz about environmental protection.
20.How is the passage organized?
A.①/②③/④ B.①②/③/④ C.①/②/③④ D.①②③/④
C
A night from my childhood remains clear in my memory: I was standing by a pool before a village in Henan. Next to me stood many other people, both adults and children. Together, we looked at the clear night sky, where a tiny star slowly sailed across the dark sky.
It was China’s first artificial satellite (人造卫星): Dongfanghong I. The date was April 25, 1970, and I was seven. Just a week earlier, Apollo 13 safely returned from a journey to the Moon. It had been nine years since the first astronaut left the Earth. But I didn’t know any of that. As I looked at that tiny star, my heart was full of curiosity.
The adults said that the satellite wasn’t like an airplane because it flew outside of the Earth. Back then the dust and smoke didn’t pollute the air, and the velvet sky was especially clear, with the Milky Way (银河) clearly seen. In my mind, the stars that filled the sky weren’t much farther away than the tiny satellite, so I thought it was flying among them. I even worried that it might run into one as it passed through them.
A few years passed before I understood how far it is from that satellite to the stars. Back then I was reading a popular set of basic science books called A Hundred Thousand Whys. I learned the idea of a light-year (光年). I tried to picture the endless and icy darkness of space—so huge and deep that my mind couldn’t follow. A wave of fear and wonder flooded me, yet left behind a strange and electric joy. Even today, the idea of a light-year can still paint lively pictures in my mind and excite a deep sense of wonder and shock.
Satellite, stars, the Milky Way, a light-year…These seemingly (似乎) unconnected things formed the early part of my life, and also influenced the science fiction I write today.
—Liu Cixin
21.How does the writer start the passage in Paragraph 1?
A.By using a saying. B.By listing numbers.
C.By describing a scene. D.By asking a question.
22.What does the underlined phrase “that tiny star” refer to?
A.Apollo 13. B.The Moon.
C.Dongfanghong I. D.A star in the sky.
23.According to Paragraph 3, why did the writer worry about the satellite?
A.Because it was close to planes. B.Because the sky was polluted.
C.Because the Milky Way was dark. D.Because it might crash into a star.
24.According to the underlined sentence, how did the writer feel about light-years?
A.Excited at first but soon forgot. B.Too scared to think about it again.
C.Upset as it is hard to understand. D.Afraid and amazed at the same time.
25.What will the passage probably talk about next?
A.The writer’s ideas of science fiction. B.China’s achievements in space.
C.Real space tasks in recent years. D.Tips on how to make space travel.
第2节 请阅读全文,并从下列方框里的六个句子中选择五个还原到原文中,使原文的意思完整、连贯。(共5小题,每小题2分)
A.During class breaks, students can walk, stretch (拉伸) and relax their eyes.
B.This makes them stronger and more energetic.
C.It also cuts down unnecessary competition and worry.
D.They care about both students’ study and their physical and mental health.
E.It also asks schools to avoid difficult test papers.
F.Students should have their own hobbies.
Nowadays, more and more attention is paid to teenagers’ physical and mental health. To help students grow up in a healthy way, the Ministry of Education (教育部) has made many new rules and requirements for schools.
First of all, the government asks schools to cut down the number of exams. 26 Too much schoolwork and too many exams bring heavy pressure to students. What’s more, schools are no longer allowed to give out students’ exam scores publicly. Instead, students are graded with grades like A, B, C and D.This way protects students’ self-esteem. 27
Besides study rules, schools must make sure of students’ break time between classes. 28 Schools also organize long morning exercises and group activities. Students take exercise together. 29
These rules are really meaningful. 30 With less stress, enough rest and proper exercise, teenagers can keep a healthy body and a happy mind. Only in this way can they study more efficiently and grow up healthily and happily.

This is an entry from a children’s encyclopaedia.
Dogs and cats are the most popular 36 (pet) in the world. Here are some amazing facts 37 them.
Whose nose knows best?
Dogs and cats have super sensing powers from their ancestors (祖先) . Powerful senses 38 (help) them survive since ancient times.

A.Keeping our personal information secret. B.Setting a time limit for using the Internet.
C.Believing all the news we see online. D.Taking part in online safety activities.
