第一节(满分15分)
Recently, whether money is a must for happiness has drawn wide public attention. From my perspective,I firmly believe that money is not a must for true happiness.
To begin with, true happiness often comes from things money cannot buy, such as family love and friendship-the real treasures in our lives. Moreover, once our basic needs are met, more money does not lead to more happiness. What matters most is that chasing wealth too hard may cost us our peace and time, leaving us exhausted and empty inside.
In conclusion, money is useful but by no means a must for happiness.Real happiness lies in love, growth, and giving back to others.
第二节(满分25分)
My father shouted at us to run back to the hotel. He grabbed my hand and pulled me with him.As we reached the hotel gate,we heard a roaring sound behind us.Quickly,my father pushed us towards the stairs.Fear gripped us and we reached the first floor when we heard the roar of rushing water and glass breaking. My father yelled at us to keep climbing. We stopped on the fourth floor and looked down at the water below us.It had stopped rising. After some minutes,it began to drop.
We waited a long time before going downstairs.Hardly had the rushing water dropped when we saw the unrecognizable hotel gate. There was dirt and broken furniture everywhere. Some people who were caught in the water were either unconscious or burst into tears with pain. What we saw weakened our heart and we decided to help the victims after a narrow escape.Never had I had such a thrilling yet dangerous vacation before. The special trip to Penang was deeply impressive in my mind.

Weddings are one of life’s biggest celebrations, and they are observed in just about every country and culture on the planet. Here are some wedding traditions from around the world.
Scotland
Scottish weddings usually include an ethnic handfasting (绑手礼) ceremony. During the ceremony, the bride (新娘) and bridegroom each hold a piece of cloth. These are carefully wound around the couple’s joined hands. When they pull their hands apart, the pieces become tied into a knot (结) — a symbol of the new union.
Germany
Guests at a German wedding get to see an interesting sight: the newly married couple — still dressed in their suit and wedding dress — cutting a length of a tree in half with a two-person saw (锯). In this way, they show their ability to work as a team to face any challenge they will meet in life.
Norway
A Norwegian wedding cake is made up of progressively smaller layers of iced cake rings, which give the cake the shape of a Christmas tree. The inside is empty and has gifts or even a bottle of wine. The bride and bridegroom lift the top ring of the cake, and the number of layers that stick to it is said to represent the number of children they will have!
England
Brides in England typically select “something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue” to wear for their big day. The modern practice comes from a traditional English song, and the things themselves represent protection, cheerfulness, good luck, and purity, respectively.
Though the customs might be diverse, the feeling remains the same. Across the world, weddings are times to celebrate love, happiness, and family.
21.Why is a two-person saw used in the German wedding?
A.To entertain the wedding guests.
B.To mark the couple’s united efforts.
C.To represent the upcoming challenges.
D.To keep the couple from hurting each other.
22.In which wedding do brides wear different things to represent different wishes?
A.The Scottish wedding. B.The German wedding.
C.The Norwegian wedding. D.The English wedding.
23.What does the text show about the wedding?
A.Rules to follow. B.Ways to treat guests.
C.Special customs. D.Cultural backgrounds.

Mr. Johnson, a high school history teacher, had long noticed a worrying trend in his classroom. While his students could carefully remember dates, names and events for exams, they always failed to understand the human side of history. To them, the past seemed a fixed set of facts, without emotion, struggle or personal meaning. Wanting to fix this gap, Mr. Johnson decided to completely change his teaching way in the middle of the semester, trading a traditional research report for a story-writing task.
He asked his students to pick a historical figure and write a story from his or her perspective. The task was confusing at first, but soon the classroom was full of active questions and discussion. One student learned deeply about the life of a young soldier in World War I, writing a sad and moving story of the mud, fear and fragile friendship in the trench lines. Another told the story of a female scholar from the Renaissance, making up a tale of her love for learning being held back by social rules. The thorough research and creative care for how the figure felt that the students showed was amazing.
Mr. Johnson was surprised by the big change in his students. The essays he got were not just correct; they were full of real feelings and a clear understanding of people’s thoughts. The students had stopped just repeating facts and truly connected with history, seeing historical figures as people with many different sides instead of just names from a long time ago. In later class talks, their questions changed from “What happened?” to “Why did they feel that way?” and “What would I have done?”. This story-writing method didn’t just help them remember facts better; it built up their ability to think deeply and their real care for how others felt.
Inspired by this success, Mr. Johnson has now made story-telling a regular part of his lessons. He believes that when students learn to experience history through story-telling, they do more than just remember it — they start to understand its long-lasting effects on their own lives and what it means to be human in general. In his classroom, history is no longer just a subject about the past; it has become a talk with the past.
24.What was Mr. Johnson’s initial problem with his students?
A.They lacked emotional connection to history.
B.They could not memorize historical facts.
C.They were not interested in history at all.
D.They preferred science over history.
25.How did Mr. Johnson change his teaching method?
A.He gave students more fact-based research papers.
B.He guided students to write in past figures’ voice.
C.He showed more historical documentaries with facts.
D.He invited historians to give lectures in his classroom.
26.What did the students’ essays demonstrate after the new assignment?
A.They contained more dates and facts than before.
B.They showed better memorization of historical events.
C.They were shorter but more accurate than previous work.
D.They reflected emotional understanding and personal insight.
27.What is the main message of the text?
A.History should value facts over emotions.
B.History should be taught through story writing.
C.History is more than facts — it’s human stories.
D.Students should ask questions when learning history.
C
Young people are perhaps better-known for spending money than saving it. But some new banking websites are seeking to change that.
Nineteen-year-old Alix Scott has been working at a store this summer. She is saving money to pay for college next year. “I have to save for all my college money because my parents can’t afford to co-sign on loans. So, I have to rely on my own savings.”
But instead of putting her money in a local bank, Miss Scott began using SmartyPig, a web-based banking service, which was developed by Michael Ferrari with a friend in 2007. It offers young people the information and tools they need to watch over their money and also lets the users share their financial experiences with other young people.
“SmartyPig is really all about helping people save for very specific goals, such as a wedding, a vacation or an iPhone,” Michael Ferrari said, “For example, you want to save five thousand dollars for a vacation in three years. SmartyPig will actually calculate how much money you need to save every month. You don’t have to move from your existing bank, we’ll actually go in and withdraw those funds on the day you specify (指定) every month and we’ll put it into your SmartyPig account, where it’ll earn interest, as well.”
SmartyPig also enables outsiders to add money to the accounts of its users. “Perhaps a holiday is coming up or your birthday is coming up, and rather than getting a gift, your friends, your family can actually contribute to any of your SmartyPig goals.” Mr. Ferrari said. He believes that as technology continues to develop, more and more people will use the electronic banking sites.
A growing number of young people have shown an interest in online banking sites like SmartyPig. They say they like the ease of operation and services the sites offer. These personal finance websites offer tools that help users follow their spending, set up a budget, and combine their investments. And they all involve social media, which interests young adults who are already at ease about sharing their personal information online.
28.What do we know about SmartyPig?
A.It offers the best rate.
B.It was created in 2008.
C.It was founded by Michael Ferrari alone.
D.It is a tool for helping consumers save money.
29.What can people do on SmartyPig?
A.Share their experiences of saving money. B.Receive free gifts from SmartyPig.
C.Put money in their SmartyPig accounts. D.Have access to low rate loans.
30.What does the last paragraph mainly talk about?
A.How to save money on SmartyPig.
B.Why young people like online banking sites.
C.What SmartyPig should do to improve its services.
D.How online banking sites differ from traditional banks.

Digital technology, ranging from smartphones and laptops to learning apps and AI tools, can effectively assist students’ studies and daily lives. However, uncontrolled use produces numerous negative impacts. It distracts students’ attention, shortens sleep time, reduces physical activity and weakens independent learning skills. Importantly, these problems stem from improper usage rather than the technology itself.
Unregulated technology use greatly lowers students’ learning efficiency and quality. Classroom distraction stands out as the most common issue. According to OECD’s PISA research, 30 percent of students get distracted by digital devices during most math lessons, which leads to poorer academic performance. To make matters worse, many students depend heavily on online search results and AI answers. They abandon key steps for deep learning, including careful reading, independent thinking, problem analysis and mistake correction. As a result, although their homework appears finished, they fail to build solid, in-depth knowledge.
According to a 2025 CDC (疾控中心) report, excessive screen time does great harm to teenagers’ physical and mental health. Late-night gaming and social media use can seriously affect teenagers’ sleep. Meanwhile, prolonged screen use takes up time for outdoor sports, walking and daily exercise, leaving students in poor physical condition. In addition, social media exposes teenagers to peer comparison and the fear of missing out, causing invisible mental pressure. A 2025 CDC analysis also proves that too much non-school screen time is closely associated with teenagers’ poor sleep, lack of exercise and negative mental states.
Thankfully, students can avoid these risks by developing scientific daily routines. Before studying, they need to keep phones away from desks, turn off distracting notifications and use only essential digital tools. Before bedtime, they should quit all online entertainment by a fixed time and charge their phones outside the bedroom. It is also advisable to finish exercise and housework before enjoying screen time. Instead of rejecting technology completely, proper management enables technology to better support students’ learning and healthy growth.
32.What does the word “unregulated” underlined in Paragraph 2 mean?
A.Unprotected. B.Unfinished. C.Uncontrolled. D.Unchanged.
33.What can we infer from the 2025 CDC analysis?
A.Social media use reduces teenagers’ mental stress.
B.Outdoor exercise removes screen-caused harms.
C.Staying up late mainly leads to poor health.
D.Off-school screen time brings about health problems.
34.What is the author’s attitude towards digital technology?
A.Objective. B.Supporting. C.Critical. D.Doubtful.
35.What is the main idea of the text?
A.Long screen time harms teens’ bodies and minds.
B.Proper digital use brings teens great benefits.
C.Digital tools are widely used in teens’ study.
D.Digital technology brings harm yet solutions exist.

A holiday in Penang is an annual affair for my family. My parents grew up in Penang and are very fond of Penang food. In December every year, we would drive up to the island to spend three days visiting their favorite food haunts (常去的地方).
This year, we started our journey up north on a Friday morning. It took us six hours to reach our destination. We always stayed at one of the hotels in Batu Ferringhi. The beach was just a short walk from the hotel entrance and our rooms had a lovely view of the sea. We spent our first evening playing on the beach. After dinner, we returned to our rooms to play games. My parents had a rule for our holidays which was that we were to spend time doing things together. There was to be no TV and no Internet.
The next morning, we went to Bukit Bendera and then spent the rest of the afternoon in town visiting our favorite hawker stalls (小贩摊位). As we were having tea at a coffee shop, we overheard people talking about an earthquake near Sumatera, an island in Indonesia. We headed back to the hotel and then went to the beach. We took a walk along the beach, picking up seashells along the way. Looking up, I saw the sun shining brighter than I ever knew before. I saw a tree trembling in the distance as it reflected the sun’s rays. It never occurred to us that something awful would take place. Suddenly, I noticed a strange thing. The sea seemed to be leaving from the shore. I called my father to look at the curious occurrence. My father took one look and went pale. We saw a grey line in the distance moving towards the shore. It seemed to grow taller by the second.
注意:
(1)续写词数应为150个左右;
(2)请按如下格式在相应位置作答。
My father shouted at us to run back to the hotel.
We waited a long time before going downstairs.
