An Inspiring Space Exploration Lecture
Last week, our school invited a professional expert to deliver a wonderful lecture on space exploration to us students.
In the lecture, the expert introduced the latest space exploration achievements and shared interesting knowledge about outer space, broadening our horizons greatly. All students listened attentively and actively raised questions during the interaction session.
This meaningful activity arouses our interest in space science. Personally, I’m deeply inspired and determined to study harder to contribute to space exploration in the future.
第二节(满分25分)

Paragraph 1:
From that day on, I completely changed my daily routine. I woke up at 6:00 a.m. every morning to practice listening with BBC news and English podcasts. During lunch breaks, I forced myself to read two academic articles and summarize them in my own words. After school, I spent an hour on timed reading and writing exercises, and I kept a vocabulary notebook to record every new word I encountered. I also joined an online speaking group to practice with peers twice a week. No more gaming or scrolling through social media — every spare minute was devoted to English. The shame of my lie pushed me forward, and gradually, I began to enjoy the progress I was making.
Paragraph 2:
Three months later, when I opened the new IELTS score report, my hands were trembling. I took a deep breath and slowly scrolled down. There it was: an overall band score of 7.5 — listening 7.5, reading 7.0, writing 7.0, and speaking 7.5. My heart raced with genuine joy and relief. I immediately printed the authentic report and handed it to my parents. “I’m sorry for my past lie,” I said, my voice shaking. “But this time, I earned it.” My mom teared up, not because of the score, but because of my honesty and hard work. I returned the 10,000 yuan to them, finally understanding that true achievement is not about rewards, but about integrity and self-respect.

It’s eight o’clock on Christmas morning. Dad says he wants to listen to the news. My 11-year-old self can’t understand why grown-ups would care about news when there are presents to open. Then, while I’m half-listening, something unusual happens: the newsreader begins talking about a Christmas message we’ve already heard.
My older brother, Colin, figures it out. “Pete, it’s a tape recorder! We’ve got our tape recorder! ”
It finally dawns on me: my dad recorded the news and is playing it back.
I think it’s rare to experience real excitement over a present, but for me this was one of those moments. Colin and I were both blind from birth. At our boarding school, a recorder of your own was the height of joy. But Colin — more realistic about family finances — had no real expectations of getting one. I later realized a tape recorder cost more than four times dad’s weekly wage.
The new toy, the size of a small suitcase, dominated the rest of the holidays. Once we mastered the controls, we recorded everything. For the first time — like sighted children seeing themselves in a mirror — we got the sense of ourselves as those who existed outside our own head. It was both exciting and embarrassing.
When I returned to school, I walked around with my microphone, recording my thoughts like the voices on the radio. Ten years later, I walked into a radio station, hoping to become a broadcast journalist. Twenty-five years later, I presented my first report for BBC TV’s Six O’ Clock News — a programme my dad never missed. Though he’d been dead for over a decade, I like to think he knew his Christmas present changed my life.
24.Why did dad want to listen to the news on Christmas morning?
A.He expected to give the boys a surprise. B.He was postponing handing out his presents.
C.He had always enjoyed listening to the news. D.He missed the Christmas news the day before.
25.What does the underlined “real excitement over a present” in paragraph 4 reflect?
A.His pride in his father’s creativity. B.His surprise at new technology.
C.His curiosity about the unexpected gift. D.His gratitude for a truly special gift.
26.What did the recorder enable the boys to do when they started to use it?
A.Hear each other more clearly. B.Pursue a career in broadcasting.
C.Discover more about themselves. D.Make their own radio programmes.
27.What is the best title for the text?
A.My Journey to a Journalist B.A Gift That Changed a Life
C.My Father’s Deep Hidden Love D.A Special Christmas Morning

The decision to delay (延迟) morning arrival times in Nanjing has caused a wide discussion about how to balance students’ academic (学业的) needs with their health. While some people support the change, others worry about its possible effects.
Supporters of the policy argue that sleep is very important for teenagers’ growth. They point out that students who do not get enough sleep often feel tired, worried, or unable to focus. In contrast, well-rested students are more likely to take an active part in class and perform better in exams. Some experts also note that a good breakfast plays an important role in students’ health and learning. With a later start time, students can have enough time to eat well and prepare for the day.
People who disagree with the policy, however, express concerns about the influence on academic performance. They argue that reducing morning study time might lead to lower grades, especially for students who need more practice or review. Some parents worry that students will become lazy if they do not have to get up early. They also question whether schools can really improve classroom efficiency (效率) enough to make up for the lost time.
To better study the effects of the new schedule, education departments in Nanjing plan to collect feedback from students, parents, and teachers over the next few months. They will record changes in students’ sleep quality, attendance rates (出勤率), and academic performance. If the results show that the policy is beneficial, it may be carried out in more schools. If problems arise, further changes may be made.
In the long run, experts suggest that improving students’ well-being requires the efforts of schools, families, and society. Schools should not only change schedules but also improve teaching quality. Parents should help their children develop good sleep habits and create a quiet environment at home. Students themselves should learn to manage their time wisely and avoid staying up late. Only in this way can the goal of reducing burden and improving quality be truly achieved.
28.What do supporters of the policy believe?
A.Students should get up as early as possible.
B.Sleep is not important for academic performance.
C.Well-rested students are more likely to perform better.
D.After-school services are more important than sleep.
29.How does the author develop the argument in the passage?
A.By listing historical events related to education.
B.By presenting both supporting and opposing views.
C.By describing personal experiences of students.
D.By comparing different countries’ school systems.
30.What can we learn from the passage?
A.The policy will be carried out in all schools in Nanjing.
B.Schools play a more important role than families in students ’well-being.
C.Students can make up for lost learning time by studying more efficiently.
D.The new schedule will probably be changed according to future results.
31.What is the passage mainly about?
A.The benefits of delayed school start times.
B.The reasons for students’ sleep problems.
C.The importance of after-school services.
D.The discussion about delayed school start times and their effects.
D
Giving students a chance to write about their passions can help them engage not only in writing but also in what they’re learning. Research suggests when given the opportunity to write more about subjects that interest them, students tend to spend more time in the process.
To spend their writing time on a subject that fuels their interests can also help students build important skills they need in their education. Some research points out a deep knowledge of a subject is essential before students can analyze, evaluate or synthesize. A student passionate about a topic likely knows a great deal about the subject, and that is a key first step before making connections with and critically analyzing a subject, and applying those skills to other subjects, as well.
Curriculum designers want to look at using journal writing as one method of involving students in topics they care about or have a passion to explore. A 2006 paper found journal assignments helped students make sense of what they were learning, rather than just memorize a topic, which promoted more critical thinking skills.
Poetry festivals, held by the Sharon Public Schools in Massachusetts, or spoken word assignments, used by teachers at schools including the Academy of American Studies in New York City, are other ways educators can help channel students and their passions into writing.
Allowing students to choose their writing topics may not only help bring about more assignments full of passion, but also spark the development of key learning skills.
32.What makes students spend more time writing?
A.The interest. B.The knowledge. C.The writing skill. D.The analysis.
33.Why do curriculum designers use journal assignments?
A.To help students do their homework.
B.To help students understand what they are learning.
C.To help students memorize a topic.
D.To help students read the journals
34.What does the text mainly talk about?
A.Giving students a chance to learn special subjects.
B.Writing subjects students love fuels learning.
C.Journal writing help develop students’ speaking skill.
D.Allowing students to choose their own pace of study.
35.In which column of a newspaper does the text most probably appear?
A.Science. B.Geography. C.Health. D.Education.

Good study habits are essential for academic success. However, many students struggle to develop effective study routines, often falling into counterproductive patterns. 36
One of the most common mistakes is passive rereading. Many students believe that simply reading their notes or textbooks multiple times will help them remember information. However, research shows that this approach is one of the least effective study methods. 37 Instead, active recall — where students test themselves on the material without looking at it — has been proven to significantly improve retention.
Another crucial habit is managing your study environment. Your surroundings have a direct impact on concentration and productivity. 38 This means finding a quiet, well-lit space free from distractions like phones, social media, and background television. Some students find that a change of scenery — such as moving from a bedroom desk to a library — can refresh their focus.
Planning and scheduling also make a tremendous difference. Successful students plan their study sessions in advance rather than waiting until the night before an exam. 39 Breaking large tasks into smaller, manageable chunks makes them less overwhelming and helps maintain motivation throughout longer study periods.
Finally, take care of your physical health. 40 Research consistently shows that sleep deprivation reduces memory consolidation and cognitive performance. Eating balanced meals and staying hydrated also contribute to mental clarity. Students who neglect these basic needs often find that their study efforts yield disappointing results.
A.Instead, they should create a timeline that spreads revision over several days or weeks.
B.If you can’t focus in your current location, try moving to a different quiet space.
C.It doesn’t matter where you study as long as you do it for several hours every day.
D.By recognizing and adjusting these habits, students can make their study time much more effective.
E.Reading the same information repeatedly gives the brain the illusion of mastery without real understanding.
F.A quiet environment and comfortable temperature are essential for effective learning.
G.Lack of sleep, poor nutrition, and lack of exercise can seriously harm memory and focus.

Three years ago, I quit my job and started hiking. The reason is a usual story — stress, a difficult boss — though I barely remember the 41 now. I planned to wander for a while, find a city I liked, and settle down with a new job. But then I went through a devastating breakup (情感波折), and the thought of returning to work, dating, and the ordinary track of life felt 42 .
I suppose I’m 43 for the outdoors. I love going solo — no one to please, no one to 44 . Just mountains, rivers, and minimal desires. Over three years, I’ve covered forty to fifty trails, most taking four to five days, some a full week.
After all that time, I’ve become 45 with the mountains. The scenery no longer stirs me. I finish a route and feel little, and I even question whether I still love hiking. Sometimes, as I walk, I wonder: shouldn’t life, like a hike, have a clear 46 ? Otherwise, you lose the way, farther and farther into 47 .
I tried finding partners at first, but we always 48 ways. Strangers on the trail offer little to talk about, and more importantly, hiking carries 49 . Going with someone means shared liability — if something happens, it’s a burden on both. Alone, I take full 50 for myself and owe no one else.
Every year, I meet someone who asks the same question: What have you 51 from solo hiking?
I’ve asked myself that countless times. The best 52 I can think of is a video game — repeating dungeons, clearing levels over and over. Yet when I count the rewards, my hands feel 53 . I see other travelers online who speak of courage, beautiful views, or delicious food. I genuinely envy them — they know what they’re 54 . For me, at the root, it was probably just escape.
But I can’t keep drifting forever. Maybe after the next mountain, I’ll finally have a(n) 55 .

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Ever since I was a little kid, my parents had always believed that a good education was the key to a successful future. They worked hard to pay for my tuition and various courses. Last semester, they made a promise to motivate me to improve my English: if I could achieve a score of 7.0 on the IELTS exam, they would give me a reward of 10,000 yuan. To me, that was an astronomical sum, enough to buy the latest gaming laptop I had been dreaming of.
However, the exam was daunting. The listening part was a blur, and the reading passages seemed endless. When the results came out, I stared at the screen in disbelief: 6.5. My heart sank. I knew my parents would be disappointed. The thought of telling them the truth made me feel sick. Then, a terrible idea crept into my mind. I quickly opened a photo editing software and changed the “6.5” to a “7.0” on the online score report screenshot. Taking a deep breath, I showed the fake screenshot to my parents.
They were overjoyed! My mom hugged me tightly, and my dad patted my back proudly. “That’s our boy!” he beamed. The next day, they transferred 10,000 yuan into my bank account. But as I looked at the balance notification on my phone, I didn’t feel any excitement. Instead, a heavy weight settled in my stomach. Every time I saw the new laptop in my room, it felt like a constant reminder of my lie. I couldn’t concentrate in class, and I avoided my parents’ eyes at the dinner table. The money, which was supposed to bring me happiness, only brought me deep shame.
Finally, I knew I had to do something to make things right, not by confessing, but by earning that score for real.注意:

None of the group has much experience of cooperating on projects, but we spent some time discussing how to go about it and worked out what seemed a useful approach. But it seems that Jane and I are the only ones actually following the plan. This means that we’ve fallen behind our schedule.
W: I see. And that’s tricky.
M: Yes, it is. We felt that the targets had been set so we’d all know what to deal with. But looking back, we probably should have really specified individual responsibilities from the beginning.
W: Well, this is quite a common problem, actually. If you go to the resource center, I think you’d find the advice service they provide. They’re helpful at this point.

W: Do you have any other ideas?
M: I’ve heard that Germany is nice too.
W: Do you speak German?
M: A little, but I’m willing to learn it.
W: You’re right in considering different countries because of the visa. But I suggest you think about why you want to study abroad. If you want to improve your English skills, it would be best to go to a native English-speaking country. England, Canada, America, and Australia are the most popular countries for studying abroad.
M: Oh. Well, can you tell me how to apply for my visa?
W: First, I think you should look into some schools and apply. If you are accepted, then the universities will offer you some guidance on applying for the visa.
M: When should I send my application forms in?
W: Do it as early as possible. Over the summer, you can do some research on the schools. Then, you can send out for application forms in September. Try to send them back to the schools by December. That will give you plenty of time to sort out the visas.

M: That’s a good way to start.
W: Then you can bring in how specific types of art were popular in some periods, like sculptures in the classical period and paintings in the Renaissance period. And how to use a wide variety of media to create modern art nowadays. Just keep it brief, because it’s a large area. There are so many periods and movements in art, and you don’t want to just list them one by one.

【答案】24.A 25.D 26.C 27.B

25.推理判断题。根据第四段“I think it’s rare to experience real excitement over a present, but for me this was one of those moments. Colin and I were both blind from birth. At our boarding school, a recorder of your own was the height of joy. (我认为很少能体验到对礼物真正的兴奋,但对我来说这是那些时刻之一。Colin和我都是天生失明。在我们的寄宿学校,拥有自己的录音机是最高兴的事。)”可知,这份礼物对作者来说意义非凡,划线部分反映了他对这份真正特别礼物的感激之情。
26.细节理解题。根据第五段“For the first time — like sighted children seeing themselves in a mirror — we got the sense of ourselves as those who existed outside our own head. (第一次——就像视力正常的孩子在镜子里看到自己一样——我们有了自己存在于自己头脑之外的感觉。)”可知,录音机让男孩们第一次发现了更多关于自己的东西。
27.主旨大意题。根据最后一段“Though he’d been dead for over a decade, I like to think he knew his Christmas present changed my life. (尽管他已经去世十多年了,但我愿意相信他知道自己送的圣诞礼物改变了我的人生。)”以及全文对这份录音机礼物如何影响作者职业生涯的描述可知,本文主要讲述的是一份改变人生的礼物。
C
【答案】28.C 29.B 30.D 31.D

【答案】36.D 37.E 38.F 39.A 40.G
【导语】主要介绍不良学习习惯带来的问题,从学习方式、学习环境、学习规划、身体健康四个角度,讲解如何养成高效的学习习惯。
【详解】36.根据空前的“Good study habits are essential for academic success. However, many students struggle to develop effective study routines, often falling into counterproductive patterns.(良好的学习习惯对学业成功至关重要。然而许多学生难以养成有效的学习习惯,常常陷入适得其反的学习模式。)”并结合下文开始逐一讲解学生常见的学习误区以及改进方法可知,空格处需要承上启下,衔接前文存在不良学习模式这一现象,引出下文的分析。D选项“By recognizing and adjusting these habits, students can make their study time much more effective. (通过认识到并调整这些习惯,学生可以使他们的学习时间有效得多。)”中的 these habits 指代前文提到的各类低效、适得其反的学习模式,顺畅开启下文论述,符合语境。
37.根据空前的“Many students believe that simply reading their notes or textbooks multiple times will help them remember information. However, research shows that this approach is one of the least effective study methods.(许多学生相信仅仅多次阅读笔记或者课本将会帮助他们记住信息。然而,研究表明这种方法是有效性最低的学习方法之一。)”以及空后的“Instead, active recall — where students test themselves on the material without looking at it — has been proven to significantly improve retention.(与之相反,主动回忆,即不看资料自测,被证实能显著提升知识留存率。)”可知,空格处需要进一步阐释被动反复阅读为什么效率低下。E选项“Reading the same information repeatedly gives the brain the illusion of mastery without real understanding. (反复阅读相同内容会让大脑产生已经掌握知识的错觉,实则并没有真正理解。)”具体剖析被动重读的弊端,与后文高效的主动回忆形成鲜明对比,逻辑衔接紧密,符合语境。
38.根据空前的“Your surroundings have a direct impact on concentration and productivity.(你的环境会直接影响专注力与学习效率。)”以及空后的“This means finding a quiet, well-lit space free from distractions like phones, social media, and background television.(这意味着要找到安静、光线充足、远离手机、社交软件、电视等干扰物的场所。)”可知,空后 This 指代空格内容,空格需要提出高效学习对环境的基本要求。F选项“A quiet environment and comfortable temperature are essential for effective learning. (安静的环境与适宜的温度是高效学习必不可少的条件。)”提出环境要求,后文针对这一要求展开详细解释,前后呼应,符合语境。
39.根据空前的“Successful students plan their study sessions in advance rather than waiting until the night before an exam.(成功的学生会提前规划学习时段,而不是等到考试前一晚。)以及空后的“Breaking large tasks into smaller, manageable chunks makes them less overwhelming and helps maintain motivation throughout longer study periods.(把大任务拆分成容易完成的小任务,任务压力会更小,也有利于长期保持学习动力。)”可知,前文否定考前临时复习,空格介绍正确的规划方式,再引出拆分任务的技巧。A选项“Instead, they should create a timeline that spreads revision over several days or weeks. (相反,他们应当制定时间表,把复习分散到数天或数周进行。)”借助Instead转折,给出替代临时突击的方案,自然衔接后文拆分任务的学习策略,符合语境。
40.根据本段主题句“Finally, take care of your physical health.(最后,照顾好自己的身体健康。)”以及空后的“Research consistently shows that sleep deprivation reduces memory consolidation and cognitive performance.(多项研究表明睡眠不足会降低记忆巩固能力与认知水平。)”可知,后文围绕睡眠、饮食展开说明,空格需要总起全段,概括身体健康要素对学习的影响。G选项“Lack of sleep, poor nutrition, and lack of exercise can seriously harm memory and focus. (睡眠不足、营养不良、缺乏锻炼会严重损害记忆力与专注力。)”总括影响学习的几项健康问题,统领下文相关阐述,符合语境。
第三部分 语言运用(共两节, 满分30分)
第一节(共15小题;每小题1分, 共15分)
阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。

第二节(满分25分)

【答案】例文

This term, we’ll be looking at a new theme and keeping you updated on what we can do to get green!
Food Waste Action Week
This year, we are taking part in the Food Waste Action Week, looking at ways to reduce the amount of food we throw away. It has been proven that creating and sticking to a meal plan can cut food waste. You can take part by sending in your weekly menu plans, and the best will be published on our Socials pages. Simpler Recycling
Did you know that from March 31, all student halls across the country will be required to separate food waste? This means that instead of unused food going to landfill and producing greenhouse gases as it rots, it will be sent to treatment plants where it will be made into biofuel. There will be lots more information on what can and can’t be recycled coming soon. If you have any questions, just ask your site teams — we’re here to help!
Earth Hour
Started in Sydney, this now global event asks us to switch off lights and electrical items for an hour on 22 March from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. and enjoy the peace and quiet. No competitions for this, just take a positive step to join a global movement and help tackle climate change!

阅读下面短文, 从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
