As more people around the world choose seafood as part of their diet, the pressure on the seafood industry continues to grow. To meet this rising demand, sea farming — the practice of raising seafood in the ocean — is expanding at a fast pace. A new study suggests that this growth, if carefully planned, could help provide more food for humans while doing less damage to marine (海洋的) life.
The study was led by Deqiang Ma, a researcher at the University of Michigan. According to Ma, sea farming does not have to come at the cost of the ocean’s health. With thoughtful planning, it can develop in a safer and more long-term way.
To explore this possibility, Ma and an international team of researchers built a model to examine how the expansion of sea farming might affect more than 20,000 marine species. Their model first showed the current effects of sea farming and then predicted how those effects might change by 2050 under different conditions. The team also considered two climate change models, each based on different levels of global warming and greenhouse gas emissions.
The results showed that the future of sea farming could vary greatly depending on how and where it develops. In the best-case situation, seafood production could increase to 2.36 times the current level, while the overall impact on marine life could drop by as much as 30.5%. In the worst-case situation, however, the picture was far less hopeful. If new sea farms were built in the most environmentally sensitive areas, the harm to marine life could be more than four times greater than if farms were placed randomly.
Neil Carter, a senior author of the study, stressed that making reliable predictions requires knowledge from many fields, including climate science, economics, and marine production. Only by combining these areas can researchers understand the full picture.
The study also makes one point especially clear: there is no single answer for every region. A plan that works well in the South Pacific may not suit coastal Europe. Moreover, in every situation studied, some sea mammals — such as whales, seals, and sea lions — could still be affected. For decision-makers, the challenge is clear: they must find a balance between feeding people and protecting the ocean.
41.What is the purpose of Deqiang Ma’s study?
A.To figure out the real costs of sea farms.
B.To speed up the global expansion of sea farming.
C.To predict the future trends of the seafood industry.
D.To balance human food needs and marine life protection.
42.How did the research team forecast the impacts of sea farming?
A.By measuring current greenhouse gas emissions.
B.By building new farms in highly sensitive areas.
C.By modeling changes under different conditions.
D.By tracking the exact patterns of marine species.
43.What can we infer about sea farming from Paragraph 4?
A.Seafood production will likely double in most global regions.
B.Careful location choices determine its overall safety for nature.
C.Unplanned farm expansion brings much higher profits to businesses.
D.Marine animals will largely suffer from terrible environmental damage.
44.Why does the author mention Neil Carter’s opinion in Paragraph 5?
A.To suggest a new method for huge marine production.
B.To stress the great urgency of handling climate change.
C.To highlight the clear need of combining different fields.
D.To question the overall reliability of the research models.
45.What message does the last paragraph primarily intend to convey?
A.Different local plans are needed to solve the challenge.
B.Coastal Europe needs more advanced models than other areas.
C.Policymakers should apply a single standard to protect oceans.
D.Marine animals will always suffer from the farming expansion.
【答案】41.D 42.C 43.B 44.C 45.A

With thoughtful planning, it can develop in a safer and more long-term way.(据马表示,海水养殖不必以牺牲海洋健康为代价。
根据文章第三段内容“To explore this possibility, Ma and an international team of researchers built a model to examine how the expansion of sea farming might affect more than 20,000 marine species. Their model first showed the current effects of sea farming and then predicted how those effects might change by 2050 under different conditions.(为了探索这一可能性,马和一支国际研究团队构建了一个模型,以研究海水养殖扩张可能对超过2万种海洋物种造成的影响。他们的模型首先展示了当前水产养殖的影响,然后预测了在不同条件下到2050年这些影响可能如何发生变化。)”可知,研究团队是通过对不同条件下的变化进行建模来预测影响的。
43.推理判断题。根据文章第四段内容“The results showed that the future of sea farming could vary greatly depending on how and where it develops.(研究结果表明,海水养殖的发展前景差异巨大,这完全取决于养殖的发展模式与选址。)”以及“If new sea farms were built in the most environmentally sensitive areas, the harm to marine life could be more than four times greater than if farms were placed randomly.(倘若在生态敏感度最高的区域新建海水养殖场,其对海洋生物造成的危害会是随机选址建场的四倍以上。)”
根据文章第五段内容“Neil Carter, a senior author of the study, stressed that making reliable predictions requires knowledge from many fields, including climate science, economics, and marine production. Only by combining these areas can researchers understand the full picture.(该研究的资深作者Neil Carter强调,做出可靠的预测需要来自多个领域的知识,包括气候科学、经济学和海洋生产。只有将这些领域结合起来,研究人员才能全面理解整个情况。)”可知,Neil Carter强调了“将多个领域结合起来,才能全面理解整个情况”这一观点。由此推知,引用其观点是为了突出将不同领域结合的迫切需求。
45.主旨大意题。根据文章最后一段内容“The study also makes one point especially clear: there is no single answer for every region. A plan that works well in the South Pacific may not suit coastal Europe.(该研究还特别明确地指出:每个地区都没有唯一的解决方案。在南太平洋行之有效的计划,可能并不适用于欧洲沿海地区。)”可知,没有统一方案、各地规划不能通用,由此可知,最后一段主要传达的信息是需要因地制宜制定不同规划方案。

Lego has opened a $1 billion factory in Vietnam, aiming to power its entire operations with clean energy by 2026. Located near Ho Chi Minh City, this facility — the company’s sixth globally and second in Asia — will produce colorful plastic bricks for growing Southeast Asian markets while supporting Lego’s goal to get rid of greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
The factory, covering an area as large as 62 soccer fields, uses solar panels and battery storage to meet most of its energy needs. Over 12,400 solar panels will generate power, stored in large batteries for continuous use. The remaining 10%-20% of energy will come from agreements with renewable energy suppliers.
Vietnam, which aims for net-zero emissions by 2050, sees the factory as a model for sustainable manufacturing (制造业). Mimi Vu, a sustainability expert in Ho Chi Minh City, praised Lego for proving large factories can balance profit and environmental responsibility. The project also benefits from Vietnam’s new 2024 policy allowing foreign companies to directly purchase clean energy from local producers.
The factory uses high-tech robots to create bricks with extreme precision, while skilled workers monitor operations. Many employees received training at Lego’s China facility. To reduce environmental impact, the company planted 50,000 trees — double the number removed during construction — and replaced plastic packaging with paper bags, a first for Lego factories.
Despite progress, challenges remain. Lego bricks are still made from oil-based plastic, though a third of the materials used in 2023 came from recycled or renewable sources. Niels Christiansen, Lego’s CEO, admitted sustainable alternatives are costlier but stressed the importance of investing in eco-friendly supply chains.
Vietnam’s manufacturing industry, which accounts for 20% of its GDP, plans to phase out coal power by 2040. Lego’s factory fits in with this vision, showcasing how innovation and clean energy can drive industrial growth.
The factory will also supply Australia and other Asian markets through a new distribution center. By prioritizing renewable energy and efficiency, Lego hopes to inspire global industries to adopt greener practices while keeping childhood creativity alive — one brick at a time.
46.What can be concluded about Lego’s energy strategy?

Concerns about microplastics are not new. The term was coined in 2004 by marine ecologist Richard Thompson after he discovered tiny bits of plastic littering British beaches. Since then, they’ve been growing for over two decades. The world produces 400 million tons of plastic annually, and much of that material breaks down into tiny pieces that now pollute our planet. Scientists have found microplastics — fragments less than 5 millimeters wide — nearly everywhere: in the deep sea, in Arctic ice, in the air. Even inside us.
A 2019 study in Environmental Science &Technology estimated humans ingest (摄入) up to 100, 000 bits of plastic each day. It’s not just the physical presence of plastic inside the body that poses a potential problem; plastic’s chemical additives might affect different species’ tissues and organs, according to a 2021 study in Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry. However, there is disagreement in the literature as to how much microplastics harm species, including humans. Some say larger particles (微粒) may pass right through our bodies while the nanoscale pieces could enter our cells. More research is needed.
Researches are working on this vast issue. In 2020, Duke University scientists created a public database to track plastic innovations. For example, the Hoola One, a rugged-terrain vacuum (全地形吸尘器), is being tested on Hawaiian beaches, which internally separates microplastics from organic materials. Hong Kong Polytechnic University researchers presented a unique idea in 2022 at the Microbiology Society’s Annual Conference: a bacteria biofilm that could attract and trap microplastics at a wastewater treatment plant, before they flow into rivers and oceans.
This wide range of measures could help in specific pollution hot spots, says Zoie Diana, a Duke doctoral candidate, who worked on the inventory (清单) and added 40 new inventions this year. But “if you have a technology that would capture microplastics at the industrial wastewater scale, before they enter our waterways, that would be ideal,” Diana says.
That’s where Alain Marty, chief scientist at the biochemistry start-up Carbios, comes into the picture. In a 2020 Nature article, Marty and colleagues describe how they engineered an enzyme (酶) to break down plastic quickly and efficiently. Industries could employ the enzyme as part of their manufacturing processes, so that nearly all of their material could be reused to create products. “If waste has a value, then it becomes a product,” he says. “And once it’s a product, it will be collected and no longer pollute our oceans and our environment.”
Marty’s discovery is a breakthrough in the right direction, though preventing microplastics by reducing our plastic use is just as important, says Diana. “We really want to turn off the tap.”
51.Which best explains the potential threat of microplastics mentioned in Paragraph 2?
A.They immediately cause fatal organ failure upon ingestion.
B.They are too small to be detected by current medical equipment.
C.Their chemical components may interfere with biological tissues.
D.They physically block the digestive systems of various marine species.
52.What can be inferred about an existing scientific insight into microplastics?
A.Larger particles are considered more dangerous than tiniest ones.
B.There is a unified agreement that they pose little risk to human health.
C.The extent of harm depends largely on the size of the particles involved.
D.Researchers have successfully developed a cure for microplastic poisoning.
53.How does the author develop the ideas in Paragraph 3?
A.By making comparison. B.By presenting cases. C.By giving criticism. D.By listing facts.
54.According to the passage, what is Alain Marty’s ultimate goal regarding plastic waste?
A.To increase the economic value of waste to ensure its collection and reuse.
B.To design more efficient vacuum cleaners for beach cleaning.
C.To relocate plastic waste to remote areas like the Arctic.
D.To ban all forms of plastic production globally.
55.Which best describes the tone of the underlined sentence in the last paragraph?
A.Humorous and irony, laughing at the efforts of the engineers.
B.Technical and unconcerned, describing a mechanical process.
C.Pessimistic and hopeless, suggesting the problem is unsolvable.
D.Metaphorical and urgent, stressing the priority of source reduction.
【答案】51.C 52.C 53.B 54.A 55.D
根据第二段“It’s not just the physical presence of plastic inside the body that poses a potential problem; plastic’s chemical additives might affect different species’ tissues and organs, according to a 2021 study in Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry. (根据2021年《环境毒理学与化学》的一项研究,不仅仅是塑料在体内的物理存在会造成潜在问题;塑料的化学添加剂可能会影响不同物种的组织和器官。)”可知,微塑料的潜在威胁在于其化学成分可能干扰生物组织。
52.推理判断题。根据第二段“Some say larger particles may pass right through our bodies while the nanoscale pieces could enter our cells. (一些人认为较大的微粒可能直接穿过我们的身体,而纳米级的微粒则可能进入我们的细胞。)”可知,微塑料对生物的危害程度很大程度上取决于微粒的大小。
53.推理判断题。根据第三段“For example, the Hoola One, a rugged-terrain vacuum, is being tested on Hawaiian beaches, which internally separates microplastics from organic materials. Hong Kong Polytechnic University researchers presented a unique idea in 2022 at the Microbiology Society’s Annual Conference: a bacteria biofilm that could attract and trap microplastics at a wastewater treatment plant, before they flow into rivers and oceans. (例如,一款名为Hoola One的全地形吸尘器正在夏威夷海滩进行测试,它能在内部将微塑料与有机物质分离。香港理工大学的研究人员于2022年在微生物学会年会上提出了一个独特的想法:一种细菌生物膜,可以在微塑料流入河流和海洋之前,在污水处理厂吸引并捕获微塑料。)”可知,作者通过列举具体案例展开段落内容。
54.细节理解题。根据第五段“If waste has a value, then it becomes a product. And once it’s a product, it will be collected and no longer pollute our oceans and our environment. (如果废弃物有价值,那么它就会变成一种产品。一旦它成为产品,就会被回收,不再污染我们的海洋和环境。)”可知,Alain Marty的终极目标是提升塑料废弃物的经济价值,以确保其被回收与再利用。
55.推理判断题。根据最后一段中“Marty’s discovery is a breakthrough in the right direction, though preventing microplastics by reducing our plastic use is just as important, says Diana. “We really want to turn off the tap.”
My parents have a big cat at home named comet. He has big ears, a large head, huge feet, and a gentle personality — but we have no way of knowing for sure. He came from the local animal shelter. My brother and I didn’t really want him, since he was a kitten and we wanted to adopt an adult cat because we thought the kittens would be more likely to find another home, but my little sister insisted.
We brought comet home that day. He soon fell ill and grew alarmingly weak — his ribs (肋骨) stuck out and his fur lost its shine. He became so fragile that I feared touching him, though he clearly needed care.
Some years later, I went home one afternoon after having had an emotional breakdown. My whole life was upside down. I felt depressed, an empty shell of a person. I had no idea what pieces were even worth picking up again. I found comet curled up in a corner that afternoon. He’d been asleep, but he lifted his head and looked at me when I came in. I reached a hand toward him. He gently rubbed his head against it. I moved my hand down to scratch his back and sides, and he stretched luxuriously, giving me looks of absolute adoration.
At that point, it hit me: this cat loved me. The cat I didn’t want, the cat I couldn’t bear to take care of when his life depended on it, loved me. And he would always love me. No matter what was going on in my life, comet would still look up from a nap when I entered the room, would still love to be touched by me.
I believe that real love, whether it comes from your families, or a shelter cat, is offered determinedly and unconditionally. Love is what enables us to pick up the pieces of our broken lives and go on.
56.Why didn’t the writer and his brother want to adopt comet at first? (no more than 10 words)
57.What does the underlined word “fragile” in Paragraph 2 mean? (no more than 1 word)
58.What did comet do when the writer was in low spirits? (no more than 20 words)
59.How did the writer feel when Comet responded to his touch? (no more than 6 words)
60.What is your understanding of real love? Please explain with your own experience. (no more than 20 words)
56.Because comet, a kitten, was more likely to be adopted.
Because they wanted to adopt an adult cat. 57.Weak. 58.He lifted his head and looked at the writer, and (then) rubbed his head against his hand. 59.He felt (deeply) loved and comforted./ Deeply comforted and loved.
I think real love is determined./ unconditional. It gives me courage and warmth to face difficulties at school.
或者 Determined./ Unconditional/ Real love gives strength/ courage.
根据第一段中的“My brother and I didn’t really want him, since he was a kitten and we wanted to adopt an adult cat because we thought the kittens would be more likely to find another home, but my little sister insisted.(我哥哥和我其实并不想要它,因为它是一只小猫,而我们想收养一只成年猫,因为我们认为小猫更有可能找到另一个家,但我的小妹妹坚持要养它)”可知,作者和哥哥起初不想收养Comet,是因为它是小猫,他们想收养成年猫,且认为小猫更易被领养。故填Because they wanted to adopt an adult cat. / Because comet, a kitten, was more likely to be adopted.
根据第二段中的“He soon fell ill and grew alarmingly weak — his ribs (肋骨) stuck out and his fur lost its shine. He became so fragile that I feared touching him, though he clearly needed care.(它很快就病了,变得异常虚弱——肋骨突出,毛发也失去了光泽。它变得如此fragile,以至于我都不敢碰它,尽管它显然需要照顾)”可知,小猫生病后极度虚弱,肋骨突出、毛发无光泽,因此作者不敢触碰它,由此猜测fragile意为“虚弱的”。故填Weak.
58.考查细节理解。根据第三段中的“I found comet curled up in a corner that afternoon. He’d been asleep, but he lifted his head and looked at me when I came in. I reached a hand toward him. He gently rubbed his head against it.(那天下午,我发现Comet蜷缩在角落里。它本来在睡觉,但我进来时它抬起头看了看我。我向它伸出手,它轻轻地用头蹭我的手)”可知,作者情绪低落时,Comet抬起头看他,并把头蹭他的手。故填He lifted his head and looked at the writer, and (then) rubbed his head against his hand.
根据第四段中的“At that point, it hit me: this cat loved me. The cat I didn’t want, the cat I couldn’t bear to take care of when his life depended on it, loved me.(就在那一刻,我突然意识到:这只猫爱我。这只我曾经不想要、在它生命垂危时我都不忍照顾的猫,竟然爱我)”可知,当Comet回应作者的触摸时,作者感受到了被爱和安慰。故填He felt (deeply) loved and comforted./ Deeply comforted and loved.
根据最后一段中的“I believe that real love, whether it comes from your families, or a shelter cat, is offered determinedly and unconditionally. Love is what enables us to pick up the pieces of our broken lives and go on.(我相信,真正的爱,无论是来自家人,还是一只收容所的猫,都是坚定且无条件的。正是爱让我们能够收拾破碎生活的碎片,继续前行)”可知,真正的爱是坚定、无条件的,能给予人力量。故填(答案不唯一) I think real love is determined./ unconditional. It gives me courage and warmth to face difficulties at school. 或者 Determined./ Unconditional/ Real love gives strength/ courage.

I choose the topic “Growth Inspired by Nature”. Last spring, I found a small wild sunflower that grew through the cracks of our old backyard wall. It got little soil and water, but it still grew tall and bloomed bright yellow flowers in summer.
This made me realize that real growth never depends on perfect conditions. When I meet hard problems in math or feel upset about my school tasks, I always think of that sunflower. I will keep trying little by little, instead of giving up easily.
I also decide to spend 10 minutes every day doing small things well, which helps me grow step by step. I believe that the quiet strength from nature will always push me forward.

A.It ignores the need for battery storage technology.
B.It puts cost reduction ahead of environmental goals.
C.It relies entirely on Vietnam’s solar energy facilities.
D.It combines on-site solar power and external supplies.
47.What does the text indicate about Vietnam’s policy in 2024?
A.It requires factories to plant 50,000 trees annually.
B.It prioritizes coal power for manufacturing growth.
C.It restricts foreign companies from using solar panels.
D.It helps Lego achieve its clean energy goals more easily.
48.What challenge does Lego still face despite its progress?
A.Lack of skilled workers in Vietnam.
B.High costs of sustainable materials.
C.Insufficient solar panels for energy needs.
D.Conflicts with local tree-planting policies.
49.What can we know about Lego’s Vietnam factory from the text?
A.It has completely stopped using oil-based plastic for bricks.
B.It is the first Lego factory to use paper bags instead of plastic packaging.
C.It provides no training for its employees from Vietnam.
D.It only supplies plastic bricks to the Southeast Asian market.
50.What is the best title for the text?
A.Lego’s Vietnam Factory Drives the Use of Clean Energy
B.Vietnam’s Economic Growth Through Foreign Investment
C.Lego’s New Factory: A Threat to Traditional Manufacturing
D.Africa’s Green Boost: Clean Energy Powers Industrial Growth

61.
