Nature is full of wonderful sights that never fail to amaze us. From the highest mountains to the deepest oceans, every natural wonder tells a story of nature’s power and beauty. Last year, I had the chance to visit two amazing natural wonders, and the experience changed my view of nature.
The first wonder I visited was the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. It is famous for its tall and strange rocks that stand straight in the forest. The rocks are covered with green plants, and when the mist comes, the park looks like a fairyland. I walked along the path and enjoyed the fresh air and beautiful scenery. I also saw many monkeys playing in the trees, which made the park full of life. This visit made me realize how beautiful and magical nature is.
The second natural wonder I visited was the Dead Sea. Unlike other seas, the Dead Sea is so salty that no fish can live in it. When you go into the water, you can float easily without swimming. My parents and I floated in the water and took many photos. I also learned that the Dead Sea has special minerals that are good for our skin. This experience taught me that nature has many surprises waiting for us to discover.
Visiting these natural wonders was a great experience. It made me love nature more and want to protect it. I hope everyone can have the chance to explore nature’s wonders and learn to cherish our beautiful planet.

C.The writer introduces two natural wonders and shares his wonderful trip experience.

In the eyes of many foreigners, Chinese are the best hosts and the worst guests in the world. And Western hosts sometimes look impolite in the eyes of Chinese guests. It is because the guest-host relationship in China is quite different from that in some Western countries.
In China, guests are very important. Whenever I enter a Chinese friend’s home, there is always fruit on the table for me, and someone is quick to bring me a cup of tea or water. In the West, acting according to the host’s way of doing things is a usual behaviour for a guest.
My wife’s mother, a very kind Chinese lady, doesn’t smoke. When I see some of her guests smoking in her house, as a non-smoker, I feel unhappy. Usually, I want to stop them directly, but I realize that in China, to be a good host, she must not let me do that.
In most North American homes, if you are a guest, and the hosts are not smokers, you should not smoke in their house. At least, you should ask, “Is it OK if I smoke?” But don’t be surprised if they say, “No, you can’t smoke.” In my culture, if you smoke in their house, you are a bad guest, but if they don’t allow you to smoke in their house, they are not impolite hosts.
In a word, no matter where you are, the best way to be a good guest is to adapt to (适应) the habits of your hosts.
23.How do Chinese hosts usually treat their guests?
A.They ask guests to follow their house rules.
B.They prepare fruit and drinks for guests.
C.They let guests help with housework.
D.They refuse guests’ needs directly.
24.What will the writer probably say if a guest wants to smoke in his house?
A.Let’s smoke together. B.Sorry, you can’t smoke here.
C.Smoking is a bad habit. D.It’s OK if you smoke here.
25.Which of the following is TRUE according to the text?
A.Chinese people are the best guests in the world.
B.In China, guests should follow the host’s way of doing things.
C.To be a good guest, you should get used to the host’s habits.
D.In North America, it is impolite to ask “Is it OK if I smoke?”
26.What is the best title for the text?
A.The Best Hosts and the Best Guests
B.Smoking Habits in China and America
C.The Secret to Being a Perfect Host
D.Different Guest-Host Relationships in Different Cultures

Inside the room, Colin looked tired and ill as usual. But he turned his pale face to Mary and said, “This afternoon I’ll see it! I’m thinking about what it’ll look like.”
“The garden?” Mary asked.
“The spring time,” he said. “I’ve never seen it. When you ran in and said ‘It’s come!’ I felt quite strange and magical, as if a procession (列队) with banners and music were coming.”
“That is a funny feeling!” Mary said. “I feel that way too. If all the flowers, leaves, and birds danced, I’m sure that would be the music.”
Colin was carried outside and put in his wheelchair (轮椅) . Dickon began to push it slowly. Mary followed and Colin lifted his face to the sky. The sky looked so high. The white clouds looked like white birds with wings. The wind came with sweetness. Colin lifted his thin chest to drink in.
When they came to the ivy-covered walls, the excited feeling made them begin to whisper (低语) .
“This is where I used to walk up and down,” said Mary.
“Is it?” Colin asked. “But there’s no door.”
A few steps more, Mary whispered again. “This is where the robin (知更鸟) flew over the wall.”
“Is it?” Colin said. “I wish the robin would come again!”
“And that,” said Mary, pointing under a tree, “is where it showed me the key.”
Colin sat up.
“Where? There?” Colin asked.
“And this,” said Mary, walking to the walls. “is where I talked to it. And this is the ivy the wind blew back.”
“Oh! It is-it is!” Colin cried with excitement.
“Here’s the door. Dickon, push him in-quickly!” Mary cried. Dickon did it with one strong, steady push. They were inside the garden and the chair stopped as if by magic.
Colin looked into the garden. Over walls and trees, the green leaves crept (蔓延) . In the garden, everywhere were touches of gold, purple and white. ▲ Mary and Dickon looked at Colin in surprise. He looked so different because a pink colour was creeping all over him—face, neck and hands and all.
“I shall get well!” he cried out. “Mary! Dickon! And I shall live forever and ever!”

Hello, everyone, I’m Alex. Recently, I have read an article about table manners on the website. It is quite interesting. It says that I should never talk when there is food in my mouth. This article made me think about the cultural differences between countries. For example, when I go to England, I have to remember never to put my knife in my mouth. This is very rude. I also need to wait until everyone is at the table before I start eating. So just as the saying goes, “When in Rome, do as the Romans do.” It is a good idea to learn about their table manners before going to another country.
