But Tim Searchinger at Princeton University says many of these studies are based on the false foundation that harvesting wood is carbon neutral (碳中和). “Only a small percentage of the wood gets into a timber (木料) product, and a part of that gets into a timber product that can replace concrete and steel in a building,” he says. Efficiencies vary in different countries, but large amounts of a harvested tree are left to be divided into parts, used in short-lived products like paper or burned for energy, all of which generate emissions. In a report for the World Resources Institute, Searchinger and his colleagues have modelled (塑造) how using more wood for construction would affect emissions between 2010 and 2050, accounting for the emissions from harvesting the wood. They considered various types of forests and parts of wood going towards construction. They also factored in the emissions savings from replacing concrete and steel. Under some circumstances, the researchers found significant emissions reductions. But each case required what they considered an unrealistically high portion (份额) of the wood going towards construction, as well as rapid growth only seen in warmer places, like Brazil. In general, they found a large increase in global demand for wood would probably lead to rising emissions for decades. Accounting for emissions in this way, the researchers reported in a related paper that increasing forest harvests between 2010 and 2050 would add emissions equal to roughly 10 percent of total annual emissions. Ali Amiri at Aalto University in Finland says the report’s conclusions about emissions from rising demand are probably correct, but the story is different for wood we already harvest. “Boosting the efficiency of current harvests and using more wood for longer lived purposes than paper would cut emissions,” he says. “We cannot just say we should stop using wood.” 8. What is wrong with previous researches according to Searchinger? A. They got wrong statistics. B. They used an incorrect concept. C. They included too many factors. D. They were applied in limited countries. 9. What does paragraph 2 mainly talk about? A. The process of the new research. B. The background of the new study. C. The challenge of the new research. D. The achievements of the new study. 10. Which is CORRECT according to the passage? A. Using concrete and steel can reduce emissions. B. All of timber product can can take the place of the concrete amd steel. C. Only small part of wood can get into timber. D. We all should use wood to build our houses. 11. What is Ali Amiri’s attitude toward the new result? A. Favorable. B. Doubtful. C. Critical. D. Objective. B 9. A 10. C 11. 根据第一段“But Tim Searchinger at Princeton University says many of these studies are based on the false foundation that harvesting wood is carbon neutral (碳中和). (但普林斯顿大学的Tim Searchinger表示,许多研究都是基于一个错误的基础,即砍伐木材是碳中和的)”可知,Searchinger认为以前的研究都基于一个错误的概念。故选B项。 【9题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第二段“In a report for the World Resources Institute, Searchinger and his colleagues have modelled(塑造) how using more wood for construction would affect emissions between 2010 and 2050, accounting for the emissions from harvesting the wood. They considered various types of forests and parts of wood going towards construction. They also factored in the emissions savings from replacing concrete and steel. (在世界资源研究所(World Resources Institute)的一份报告中,Searchinger和他的同事们模拟了在2010年至2050年期间,使用更多的木材用于建筑将如何影响排放,其中包括砍伐木材产生的排放。他们考虑了各种类型的森林和用于建筑的部分木材。他们还考虑了更换混凝土和钢材所节省的排放。)”可知,第二段主要介绍新研究的过程。故选A项。 根据第一段的“Only a small percentage of the wood gets into a timber (木料) product, and a part of that gets into a timber product that can replace concrete and steel in a building (只有一小部分木材被制成木制品,其中的一部分被制成可以取代建筑中的混凝土和钢材的木制品)”可知,只有一小部分木头能进入木材。 根据最后一段“Ali Amiri at Aalto University in Finland says the report’s conclusions about emissions from rising demand are probably correct, but the story is different for wood we already harvest. “Boosting the efficiency of current harvests and using more wood for longer lived purposes than paper would cut emissions,” he says. “We cannot just say we should stop using wood.””(芬兰阿尔托大学的阿里·阿米里表示,报告中关于需求增长导致的排放的结论可能是正确的,但对于我们已经收获的木材来说,情况就不同了。 D A Queensland University of Technology (QUT) research team has taken inspiration from the brains of insects and animals for more energy-efficient robotic navigation. The research, led by Dr Hussaini, along with Professor Milford and Dr Fischer from the QUT Centre for Robotics, was published in IEEE Transactions on Robotics. They came up with a novel place recognition algorithm (算法) using Spiking Neural Networks (SNNs). “SNNs are artificial neural networks that imitate how biological brains process information using brief, separate signals, much like how neurons (神经元) in animal brains communicate,” Dr Hussaini said. “These networks are particularly well-suited for neuromorphic hardware — specialized computer hardware that copies biological neural system — enabling faster processing and significantly reduced energy consumption.” Modern robots still struggle to navigate and operate in complex, unknown environments. They also often rely on AI-based navigation systems that need a lot of computing power and energy for training. Dr Fischer said, “Animals are really good at getting around in large, dynamic environments. They do it efficiently and reliably.” He thinks this research is a step closer to making navigation systems inspired by biology. These systems might one day be better than today’s conventional approaches. The system developed by the QUT team uses small neural network parts to recognize specific places from images. These parts were put together to make a group of spiking networks to create a navigation system that can learn to move around in large environments. “Using a series of images instead of single pictures enabled an improvement of 41 percent in place recognition accuracy, allowing the system to adapt to appearance changes over time and across different seasons and weather conditions,” Professor Milford said. “This research can help make more efficient and reliable navigation systems for autonomous robots in energy-limited environments. It’s especially good for things like space exploration and disaster recovery, where using energy well and being quick to respond are critical,” Dr Hussaini said. 12. What does the QUT research focus on? A. Testing artificial intelligence systems. B. Imitating AI-based navigation systems. C. Managing existing robotic navigation systems. D. Creating bio-inspired robotic navigation systems. 13. What is a key advantage of SNNs? A. Requiring low energy. B. Conducting object detection. C. Producing suitable hardware. D. Processing separate information. 14. What can be inferred about neural network parts? A. They analyze environmental sounds. B. They assess conventional approaches. C. They enable accurate place recognition. D. They measure different weather conditions. 15. What’s the last paragraph mainly about? A. The significance of the research. B. The advantage of the system. C. The efficiency of the navigation. D. The performance of the application. D 13. A 14. C 15. 根据第一段“A Queensland University of Technology (QUT) research team has taken inspiration from the brains of insects and animals for more energy-efficient robotic navigation(昆士兰科技大学研究团队从昆虫和动物大脑中获取灵感,开发更节能的机器人导航系统)”以及第五段“He thinks this research is a step closer to making navigation systems inspired by biology.(他认为这项研究使受生物学启发的导航系统更近了一步)”可知,QUT研究的核心是开发受生物启发的导航系统。 根据第三段“These networks are particularly well-suited for neuromorphic hardware — specialized computer hardware that copies biological neural system — enabling faster processing and significantly reduced energy consumption(这些网络特别适合神经形态硬件——一种模拟生物神经系统的专用计算机硬件,能够实现更快的处理速度并显著降低能耗)”可知,SNNs的关键优势是低能耗。故选A。 根据第六段“The system developed by the QUT team uses small neural network parts to recognize specific places from images. These parts were put together to make a group of spiking networks to create a navigation system that can learn to move around in large environments(昆士兰科技大学(QUT)团队开发的系统利用小型神经网络部件从图像中识别特定地点。 根据最后一段“This research can help make more efficient and reliable navigation systems for autonomous robots in energy-limited environments. It’s especially good for things like space exploration and disaster recovery, where using energy well and being quick to respond are critical(这项研究有助于为在能源有限的环境中使用的自主机器人开发出更高效、可靠的导航系统。 故选A。 Luck can really feel random, and it can be tough to know how to get good luck. We had been friends since we were six years old. I took Isla as a smart, funny friend, but not all students at our school did, especially the girl students. Girls in our school wore fashionable branded clothes, but Isla sewed hers and her curly hair and thick glasses made her look like a fish, which made her stand out like a sore thumb(招眼). For me, sometimes I felt embarrassed to be around Isla, particularly when students said rude words about her hair, clothes, glasses—even about the fact that she got really good grades. Isla always seemed to be able to ignore what other students thought, but I couldn’t. I began to distance myself from her. Our school had a tradition—there was a talent show every spring. Students would sing, dance, play musical instruments, and do whatever they could to show their talents. Being our graduation season in this senior school, this year’s talent show would be obviously different. It would be a huge night. Ava, who was an outgoing girl, invited me to be on her dance team. “We win the talent show every year, and we expect a satisfactory graduation this year,” Ava said to me excitedly. “We need a new dancer. But only you, not her!” Ava pointed to someone behind me. I didn’t need to turn around to see who she meant. “Oh, I see,” I said quietly. Ava had hardly headed out when someone tapped on my shoulder. It was Isla. When I saw her confused face, it was like waking up from a dream. Isla asked me eagerly, “Emily, are you going to take part in the talent show?” I hesitated without response. “That’s great, Emily!” Isla told me without waiting for my answer that she was also going to participate this year. I couldn’t believe what I had heard. I started to worry about her when I imagined that she was in front of a huge crowd, and that everybody would laugh at her. Time passed quickly, and I had barely seen Isla since then. For me, I had to practice hard every day with Ava and the team to keep up since the other dancers had already known the steps. Ultimately, it was my turn to perform, and I felt extremely nervous. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I stepped off the stage and expressed my thanks to Isla, who was ready to sing. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Ultimately, it was my turn to perform, and I felt extremely nervous. I didn’t want to be regarded as different from the others. Isla walked to me and hugged me tightly. “Come on, Emily!” Isla encouraged me. “I believe you will do great because you are a wonderful dancer. Don’t care too much about what others think. Just trust yourself.” Soon, I took my place on the stage. I remembered every step and every move. When the music was over, the crowd burst into cheers. At that moment, I felt like a dancing queen! I stepped off the stage and expressed my thanks to Isla, who was ready to sing. I was a little worried at the beginning because the crowd became restless. Luckily, Isla ignored it. I stood up, shouting, “Isla, you are the best!” Her homemade dress was shining in the light, but her eyes were clouded with tears. When Isla’s singing died down, all the students were still lost in her unique voice. Some even began singing like her, and then more. Their singing resounded around the hall. I rushed to the stage after her performance, hugging her cheerfully. That was enough! We could never be distanced. 词汇激活: 行为类 ①被认为:be regarded as/be thought of as/be seen as ②鼓励:encourage/inspire ③在意:care about/take notice of/mind ④逐渐变淡:die down/fade away 情绪类 ①担心的:worried/concerned ②高兴地:cheerfully /merrily ③紧张的:nervous/jittery 【点睛】【高分句型1】Don’t care too much about what others think.(使用了祈使句、what引导宾语从句) 【高分句型2】I rushed to the stage after her performance, hugging her cheerfully.(使用了现在分词作状语) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2026年福建省漳浦县高三下学期命题趋势预测(二) 英语 注意事项: 1. A Long Beach, a 28-mile area of beach, lies in southwestern Washington, and is generally called Long Beach Peninsula. C A recent study has found that using wood for construction instead of concrete (混凝土) and steel can reduce emissions (排放). A. Favorable. B. Doubtful. C. Critical. D. Objective. D A Queensland University of Technology (QUT) research team has taken inspiration from the brains of insects and animals for more energy-efficient robotic navigation. Luck can really feel random, and it can be tough to know how to get good luck. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
