(2026•浙江宁波期中)It was the day after Christmas in 2018.My children had gone back to their homes, and my husband had passed away a few years earlier so I was alone.I was in the kitchen making my breakfast when I suddenly dropped to the floor.I couldn’t move.I lay on the floor for seven hours before someone found me.
When the paramedics finally arrived, I realized I couldn’t stand on my own and I couldn’t walk.I began an uncharted journey to gain the necessary strength to walk again.
When I arrived at the assisted-living facility I would now call “home”, I was extremely weak and anemic. And I couldn’t walk.I started with three nourishing meals a day in a dining room filled with strangers whom I would soon call “family”. I rested between meals until, several months later, I had enough strength to start learning to walk again. But now I needed to find a physical therapist who could help me.I didn’t know where to begin.
One evening in the dining room someone suggested that I call the physical therapist Phil, who had helped her eighty-eight-year-old father get back on his feet.“He’s amazing,” she said.“It took three people initially to get my dad out of bed, and now he uses only a walker to get around.” I couldn’t say “yes” fast enough.
Phil called back that night.“Let’s give it a try,” he said.“Let’s see what we can do.”
Every day, I lay in bed while Phil pushed, pulled, and strengthened my legs so that I could stand once again. And with every push, pull, and stretch, a voice inside me shouted, “Lola, you can do it! Don’t you dare give up!” I had climbed many mountains in my seventy-eight years of life, and I knew that this would be one of the most difficult comebacks to a somewhat normal life.
注意:(1)续写词数应为150个左右;
One day, I said to Phil, “My first huge goal was to walk the short distance from my bed to the front door of my apartment.”
Encouraged by this small success, I decided to set a new goal for myself.
答案
Section Ⅳ Writing about an experience
Ⅰ.
The rural girl named Anjali was born blind.
manage to do sth为固定搭配,意为“设法做某事”。
She didn’t know anyone, and she felt like she didn’t belong here.
Mrs Gupta, a kind and patient woman, who often encouraged Anjali可知,Gupta夫人是一个善良而有耐心的女人,她经常鼓励Anjali。
6.B 根据With Mrs Gupta’s help以及made many new friends可知,此处是描述Anjali在Gupta夫人的帮助下取得的进步,指她很快在学业上脱颖而出(stood out)。
She delivered her lines with confidence可知,Anjali被选中去试演学校话剧中的一个角色,她应该是练习台词(lines)。
She delivered her lines with confidence and emotion可知,她充满自信和情感地表达了她的台词,这说明她的表演(performance)很有感染力,吸引(attracted)了全场观众的注意。
The play was a success, and Anjali became a star.
12.B 根据others to never give up their dreams可知,她发表了演讲,用自己的经历鼓励(encouraged)其他人永远不要放弃自己的梦想。
She travels the world, sharing her story with others.
故填or。
come to do sth表示“开始有某种感觉/意见”,故填to realize。
故填in。
Ⅲ.
One day, I said to Phil, “My first huge goal was to walk the short distance from my bed to the front door of my apartment.” He nodded with understanding eyes. Then, with the help of my therapist, I slowly lifted myself from the bed and stood up.My legs shook so badly that I had to sit down immediately.“I don’t think I’ll ever walk again,” I cried in despair.“It’s just not going to happen.” “Yes, it will,” Phil stated firmly.“Your mind is telling your legs, ‘Get ready. We’re going to walk.’” His words filled me with courage.Gripping the walker tightly, I took one small step, then another. Each movement required tremendous effort, but I kept going. After what seemed like a marathon, I finally reached the door.Tears of joy streamed down my face as I touched the doorknob.I had actually made it!
Encouraged by this small success, I decided to set a new goal for myself. The next day, I attempted to walk down the hallway outside my apartment.I created a mental map of landmarks: the activities room, a beautiful picture on the wall, my neighbor’s decoration ...“Go, Lola! You can do it!” my fellow residents cheered when they saw me struggling in the hallway.Their support gave me additional strength. With Phil by my side, I focused on each step and felt that the scent of blooming flowers overtook the sterile smell of the room. With much determination, I gradually passed each landmark.Though exhausted, I felt a sense of accomplishment I hadn’t experienced in years. This was just the beginning of my journey back to independence.
