Today, I want to talk about how to get along well with animals and plants. The significance of being friendly to them is immense. It helps preserve the ecological balance, which is the foundation of our survival. Moreover, it enriches our lives with the beauty of nature. To achieve this, we can do many things. When we’re outdoors, we should avoid disturbing animals’ habitats, like not entering areas where birds are nesting. What’s more, we can plant more trees and flowers. These green plants not only provide food for animals but also make our school more beautiful. Remember that what we do now will determine the future where we share the Earth with these wonderful creatures. Let’s act together to build a harmonious world! Without hesitation, Leo carefully picked up the dog and rushed back home. His mother was surprised to see him back so soon, but her worry quickly turned to sympathy when she saw the trembling dog in his arms. Together, they gently cleaned the wound on its leg, applied some medicine, and wrapped it with a clean bandage. Leo offered the dog some warm milk and soft bread, which it eagerly lapped up. As the dog slowly relaxed, curling up on an old towel in the corner of Leo’s room, Leo sat beside it and whispered, “You’re safe now”. As the dog recovered day by day, Leo started thinking about its future. Knowing his family couldn’t keep it, he decided to find it a forever loving home. He created simple adoption posters and posted them around the neighborhood. To his surprise, Mrs. Clark expressed interest. She came to visit, and the moment she knelt down, the dog wagged its tail excitedly and licked her hand, as if recognizing its new owner. Before leaving with the dog, Mrs. Clark promised Leo he could visit anytime. Leo knew this was not an ending, but a beautiful beginning. 1.Who might the woman be? Two weeks of flooding left the collection of 450 types of classic roses on her 12-acre land nothing but black, dead branches (树枝) and leaves. But when she returned a couple weeks later to see what she could salvage in the ruins (废墟), she found one rose wasn’t black like the others. Although no leaves were left by 150-mile-an-hour winds, the rose appeared dark green now. Looking closer, she saw some new growth from its long, hanging branches. Peggy’s love for classic roses began long before 1989, but it was in that year that she got a special birthday present — two cuttings from a close friend, taken from a rose in his mother-in-law’s garden. It was healthy with deep roots (根) and produced amazing pink flowers every spring and fall. Peggy thinks the rose traveled from Europe to the U.S. in the 19th century because her cutting came from a place that was said to have introduced roses from France at that time, but it didn’t have a scientific name — no one knew its parentage (世系). “Roses that don’t have a clear parentage are known as found roses, or pass-along plants,” says Bush, a plant expert. “When a gardener has an exceptional plant, they basically pass it along to their friends.” Now the rose is called the Peggy Martin or Katrina rose, named after Peggy, and sales of its cuttings went toward Garden Club of America to support gardens that were damaged in the hurricane. It was later recognized by the gardening industry as a Louisiana Super Plant for its ability to survive terrible conditions, making it a popular flower among gardeners. More than just a plant, it has become a powerful symbol of survival and generosity and its spirit continues to inspire people. 24.What does the underlined word “salvage” in paragraph 2 probably mean? A.Plant. B.Recommend. C.Hide. D.Recover. 25.How did Peggy Martin get the special rose at first? A.She received it from her friend as a gift. B.She collected it when traveling in Europe. C.She got it from a family member’s garden. D.She bought it at a French flower market. 26.What is a quality of found roses? A.They sell at high prices. B.They have no clear family tree. C.They were first grown in France. D.They survive terrible conditions better. 27.What message does the text mainly deliver? A.It is hard to avoid natural disasters. B.Gardeners usually show strong team spirit. C.New purpose and beauty can grow from great losses. D.Collective efforts are important in protecting plants. C The population of the desert tortoise (乌龟) — which is geographically specific to the Mojave Desert, US — has dropped to less than 10 percent of its historic numbers, mainly due to being hunted by ravens (渡鸦). Since 1990, the species has been listed as threatened by the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The bad fortune of the desert tortoise came before the first raven discovered a transmission line tower transporting green energy. Since 1982, when the energy company Solar One built the first solar power plant in the Mojave, it has gradually destroyed the desert tortoise’s home, clearing the desert floor to hold ever more green energy installations (安装). The towers provide ravens with convenient homes, from where ravens can search the desert floor for hunting the desert tortoises. Man-made lakes, greens, and garbage along with human development now provide enough food and shelter for ravens, so that these birds now stay in these places year-round. As a result, the raven population in the Mojave has increased sharply. Understanding this threat, the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service has actively relocated tortoises from the places for green power installation to the ones where they can grow safely. But relocating desert tortoises causes half of them to lose their summer-long water supply and die. Only 25 percent of those moved survive. Meanwhile, conservationists (环保主义者) have long aimed to lift tortoise populations up by pushing raven numbers down. There are no easy fixes. One effective way is green light from lasers (激光). The laser doesn't harm the ravens, but it does drive them away. Tim Shields, a biologist and inventor, points green laser light at ravens to make them afraid of returning. This strategy, however, needs a lot of people and time to carry out, which is not cost-effective. We are left today with several unsatisfactory choices for fixing the eco-harm we created. We could conduct more research in the hope of finding more effective solutions. Or, we could accept that our green energy solutions come at a cost and allow nature to take its course. 28.What does the author mainly tell in Paragraph 1? A.The ravens. B.The tortoise habitats. C.The threatened species. D.The eco-friendly organization. 29.What is the main cause for the raven’s sharp increase? A.Lack of tortoises. B.Human activities. C.Climate changes. D.Setting up reserves. 30.What can we learn about the measures to protect tortoises? A.They are highly effective. B.They are well received. C.It takes ages to see their results. D.They need to be further improved. 31.What can be a suitable title for the text? A.Ravens: Why to Stay? B.Eco-harm: When to Stop? C.Green Energy: What’s the Next? D.Desert Tortoises: What’s the Future? D Scientists say a huge percentage of bird species are in danger because their habitats are disappearing. Traditional migration (迁徙) paths take birds through countries that are not protecting the places for birds to stop, rest and feed. The scientists studied the migration or flight paths of almost 1,500 species. They found that 91 percent of them passed through dangerous areas. The major danger for migratory birds is development. Buildings have covered the places where birds stop and feed as they move from one part of the world to another. One of the scientists who worked on the study says, “Many of these important places have been lost to land reclamation (开垦) because industrial, agricultural and city construction projects keep taking over more land.” The problem, according to scientists, is that many of these small birds die along their migration paths because they don’t have a safe place to feed and rest. There is no place to pick up their energy for the next part of their journey. Countries in North Africa, Central Asia and those along the coasts of East Asia are having the most difficult time in protecting land. The scientists say these countries do not have enough areas that are safe for birds. One species that doesn’t exist now is the Eskimo curlew. “Our world gets poorer every time we lose a species,” one of the scientists says. The researchers say countries need to work together and come up with safe stopping areas for birds that fly over their countries. For example, a single country’s safe rest stops are useless if the next nation along the migration path destroys the birds’ feeding habitats, so cross-border coordination is essential to keep the birds alive One scientist tells the Los Angeles Times that while some habitats are changing, more work can be done to make city areas safe for birds. He says small changes, like planting more native plants or keeping cats out of the areas that birds would be likely to use, could make a big difference. 32.What is the main reason for the disappearance of bird’s habitats? A.Serious illnesses. B.Overuse of land by humans. C.The rising of sea level. D.The change of climate. 33.What can we infer from Paragraph 4 about the migration of small birds? A.They can easily adapt to new habitats. B.Their survival depends on having safe stopover sites. C.They are more at risk in North Africa than in Asia. D.Human activities have no direct impact on their journey. 34.According to the last two paragraphs, how should we protect the migrating birds? A.By keeping fewer dogs. B.By repairing their destroyed habitats. C.By changing the birds’ migration habits. D.By improving the conditions on their migration paths. 35.What is the author’s purpose in writing the passage? A.To ask people to protect the migrating birds. B.To require people to stop their development. C.To tell people that many bird species are in danger. D.To offer some solutions to the problem of birds’ habitats. Summer heat doesn’t play favorites (偏袒) — not even with lions, elephants, or pandas. When the temperature rises too high, zookeepers become expert cool-down artists. 36 Polar bears Polar bears love staying cool. 37 These ice baths mirror polar bears’ natural environment, offering not only a cool escape from heat but also a playful activity. Elephants Elephants are known for their love of mud. At zoos, these huge animals enjoy wallowing in large mud pools for two simple reasons: the mud cools their skin and provides natural sunscreen against the sun. 38 The sight of elephants playfully throwing mud onto each other is not only interesting but also educational. Primates (灵长类动物) 39 These icy snacks not only help cool primates down, but also provide a test of their intelligence, as they need to find out how to extract (取出) the fruits. These frozen fruits are designed to mirror the challenges primates face in the wild when looking for food. Big cats During hot summer days, tigers and lions love to rest in shady (阴凉的) areas. These shady areas protect the big cats from the hot sun, giving them a perfect place to nap or relax. 40 This helps keep them healthy, happy, and stress-free—just as they would be in the wild. A.Primates need a break from the heat. B.Elephant mud baths are also a social event. C.So, zoos often provide them with ice baths. D.Frozen fruits are a pleasant summer surprise. E.Therefore, zoo animals are much luckier than wild ones. F.Zoos design these spaces carefully to mirror their natural homes. G.Here’s how zoos keep their animals cool and happy creatively all summer long. Ten years ago, my husband John and I drove to Liverpool for a trip. Parting the leaves, he found a small, dusty dog shaking there. One of its back legs was pressed tightly against its body, a thin line of blood tracing down to its paw (爪子). The dog’s big, dark eyes held a mix of fear and pain. There was no collar around its neck — it must have been a stray (流浪狗). While he was staring at the poor dog, Leo’s heart ached. It reminded him of the lovely dog he used to walk after school. It belonged to Mrs. Clark’s granddaughter, who had to leave it with her grandma for a few months. Leo, who was saving up for a new basketball, had happily taken the job of caring for it. He grew deeply attached to the playful dog, and when the granddaughter eventually returned to take it back, Leo felt its absence like a physical ache. For weeks afterward, Leo would find himself glancing toward Mrs. Clark’s yard, hoping to see that familiar furry face one more time. He ever thought about having a dog of his own so that he could always play with it, but his father was allergic to dog fur and their house was crowded — even though his mother also loved dogs. Another weak cry from the small dog pulled Leo’s thoughts back. Glancing at his watch, Leo realized he was going to be late for his daily playtime in the park, but looking at the injured dog, he knew he couldn’t just walk away and leave it alone and suffering. Gently, he reached out a hand. The dog whimpered (呜咽) at first, but then weakly licked his fingers, as if sensing that this human meant no harm. A wave of warmth washed over Leo — he had to save the poor dog. Without hesitation, Leo carefully picked up the dog and rushed back home. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ As the dog recovered day by day, Leo started thinking about its future. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 原创精品资源学科网独家享有版权,侵权必究!1 1 / 12 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $………………○……………… ………………○……………… ………………○……………… … 学校:______________姓名:_____________班级:_______________考号:______________________ 2026-2027学年高一必修第一册英语单元自测 Unit5 Into the Wild·能力提升 学校:___________班级:___________姓名:___________分数:___________ (时间:120分钟,满分:150分) 注意事项: 1. 1.Who might the woman be? ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ 试题 第3页(共8页) 试题 第4页(共8页) 试题 第1页(共8页) 试题 第2页(共8页) 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2026-2027学年高一必修第一册英语单元自测 Unit5 Into the Wild·能力提升 学校:___________班级:___________姓名:___________分数:___________ (时间:120分钟,满分:150分) 注意事项: 1. 1.Who might the woman be? B.Eating them. C.Hunting them. 19.What effect have the British had on wild birds? A.They have made one type of bird take over. B.They have changed their natural habits. C.They have increased their numbers. 20.Who are most likely to be interested in the talk? A.Gardeners. B.Nature lovers. C.Zookeepers. 【答案】18.A 19.C 20.B 【原文】 M: Good evening. Britain is a nation of animal lovers. We love to see wild rabbits and deer. But perhaps our favorite members of the animal kingdom are wild birds. Rather than hunting them or eating them, we just like to look at them. There are lots of varieties in all shapes and sizes. Some people provide nest boxes for them in their gardens. One of our favorite things is feeding the birds so much so that the production of wild bird food is now a huge industry in our country. A new research shows this enthusiasm has had a great effect on our country’s bird population. A study in the 1970s showed that only one or two types of bird were fed. Now, however, over 30 types are taking advantage of the free food. Numbers of wild birds have greatly increased, which has to be good news. However, caution is needed. Some worry that wild birds may grow to depend on human help and may not be able to look after themselves. A Four Pet-Friendly HotelsMontage Palmetto Bluff Location: Bluffton, South Carolina Price: $150 pet fee, rooms start at $645 a night In this great riverside hotel, your pet will be treated to a fancy pet bed, toy gifts, and a special menu. 根据第一段“Two weeks of flooding left the collection of 450 types of classic roses on her 12-acre land nothing but black, dead branches (树枝) and leaves.(两周的洪水让她12英亩土地上450种经典玫瑰只剩下黑色的枯枝败叶)”以及第二段“she found one rose wasn’t black like the others.(她发现有一株玫瑰不像其他的那样发黑)”可知,佩吉回到废墟是想看看能从被毁的玫瑰园中挽救些什么。“salvage”意思接近“Recover”(挽救,找回)。故选D项。 25.细节理解题。根据第三段“but it was in that year that she got a special birthday present — two cuttings from a close friend, taken from a rose in his mother-in-law’s garden.(但就在那一年,她收到了一份特别的生日礼物——来自一位密友的两枝插条,取自他岳母花园里的一株玫瑰)”可知,佩吉最初是从朋友那里收到这株特别玫瑰的插条作为礼物。故选A项。 26. 根据第四段“Roses that don’t have a clear parentage are known as found roses, or pass-along plants(没有明确世系的玫瑰被称为“发现玫瑰”或“传承植物”)可知,“发现玫瑰”的特点是没有清晰的家族谱系。故选B项。 27.主旨大意题。文章讲述佩吉的玫瑰园在飓风中遭受巨大损失,但有一株玫瑰存活下来,后来这株玫瑰被命名为佩吉·马丁玫瑰或卡特里娜玫瑰,并具有了特殊意义,成为生存与慷慨的象征。这表明即使经历巨大损失,也能产生新的美好与意义。C选项“New purpose and beauty can grow from great losses.”(新的目标和美好可以从巨大的损失中生长出来。)符合文意。故选C项。 C The population of the desert tortoise (乌龟) — which is geographically specific to the Mojave Desert, US — has dropped to less than 10 percent of its historic numbers, mainly due to being hunted by ravens (渡鸦). 【答案】28.C 29.B 30.D 31.D 【导语】这是一篇说明文。本文讲述美国莫哈韦沙漠的沙漠地鼠龟因人类发展、渡鸦捕食濒临灭绝,现有保护措施效果不佳,人们正探寻其未来出路。 28.主旨大意题。根据第一段“The population of the desert tortoise — which is geographically specific to the Mojave Desert, US — has dropped to less than 10 percent of its historic numbers, mainly due to being hunted by ravens. Since 1990, the species has been listed as threatened by the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service.(美国莫哈韦沙漠特有的沙漠地鼠龟数量已降至历史数量的不到10%,主要原因是遭到渡鸦捕食。自1990年以来,该物种已被美国鱼类及野生动物管理局列为濒危物种。)”可知,第一段主要介绍沙漠地鼠龟这一濒危物种。故选C项。 29.细节理解题。根据第三段“Man-made lakes, greens, and garbage along with human development now provide enough food and shelter for ravens, so that these birds now stay in these places year-round. As a result, the raven population in the Mojave has increased sharply.(随着人类发展,人工湖、绿地和垃圾为渡鸦提供了充足的食物和庇护所,这些鸟类如今全年都待在这些地方。因此,莫哈韦沙漠的渡鸦数量急剧增加。)”可知,渡鸦数量激增的主要原因是人类活动。故选B项。 30.推理判断题。根据第四段“But relocating desert tortoises causes half of them to lose their summer-long water supply and die. Only 25 percent of those moved survive.(但是迁移沙漠地鼠龟会导致其中一半失去整个夏季的水源供应而死亡,被迁移的龟只有25%存活。)”以及第五段“This strategy, however, needs a lot of people and time to carry out, which is not cost-effective.(然而,这种策略需要大量人力和时间来实施,并不划算。)”可知,现有的保护措施效果不佳,仍需进一步改进。故选D项。 31.主旨大意题。通读全文特别是第一段“The population of the desert tortoise (乌龟) — which is geographically specific to the Mojave Desert, US — has dropped to less than 10 percent of its historic numbers, mainly due to being hunted by ravens (渡鸦). Since 1990, the species has been listed as threatened by the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service.(美国莫哈韦沙漠特有的沙漠地鼠龟数量已降至历史数量的不到10%,主要原因是遭到渡鸦捕食。自1990年以来,该物种已被美国鱼类及野生动物管理局列为濒危物种。)”可知,全文围绕沙漠地鼠龟数量锐减、面临的生存威胁以及现有保护措施不理想展开,都在探讨沙漠地鼠龟的未来处境。所以D项Desert Tortoises: What’s the Future?(沙漠地鼠龟:前路何在?)符合文意。故选D项。 D Scientists say a huge percentage of bird species are in danger because their habitats are disappearing. 【答案】32.B 33.B 34.D 35.A 【导语】这是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了很大一部分鸟类正处于危险之中——它们的栖息地或家园正在消失。 32.细节理解题。根据第三段“The major danger for migratory birds is development. Buildings have covered the places where birds stop and feed as they move from one part of the world to another.(候鸟面临的最大威胁就是人类的开发活动。由于人类的建设活动,候鸟迁徙途中停歇和觅食的地点都被建筑物所覆盖,使得它们无法正常栖息和觅食)”可知,鸟类栖息地消失的主要原因是发展造成的,即人类过度使用土地。故选B。 33.细节理解题。根据第四段“The problem, according to scientists, is that many of these small birds die along their migration paths because they don’t have a safe place to feed and rest.(据科学家们所说,问题在于这些小型鸟类在迁徙途中往往会因没有安全的觅食和休息场所而死亡)”可知,小鸟迁徙的生存依赖于拥有安全的中途停留地。故选B。 34.推理判断题。根据最后一段“One scientist tells the Los Angeles Times that while some habitats are changing, more work can be done to make city areas safe for birds. He says small changes, like planting more native plants or keeping cats out of the areas that birds would be likely to use, could make a big difference.(一位科学家向《洛杉矶时报》表示,虽然一些栖息地正在发生变化,但还可以采取更多措施使城市区域对鸟类更加安全。 故选A。 第二节(共5小题:每小题2. 5分, 满分12. 5分) 阅读下面短文, 从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Summer heat doesn’t play favorites (偏袒) — not even with lions, elephants, or pandas. 注意:1. 续写词数应为150个左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Without hesitation, Leo carefully picked up the dog and rushed back home. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ As the dog recovered day by day, Leo started thinking about its future. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Without hesitation, Leo carefully picked up the dog and rushed back home. 词汇激活 行为类 ①看到:see/catch sight of/spot ②张贴:post/put up/stick up ③低语:whisper/murmur 情绪类 ①惊讶:surprised/astonished/amazed ②担心:worry/anxiety/concern 【点睛】【高分句型1】Leo offered the dog some warm milk and soft bread, which it eagerly lapped up.(运用了which引导的非限制性定语从句) 【高分句型2】Leo knew this was not an ending, but a beautiful beginning.(运用了省略引导词that的宾语从句) 原创精品资源学科网独家享有版权,侵权必究!1 1 / 12 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $听力考试正式开始。Excuse me, sir, your dog isn't on a lead.
