B (浙江省强基联盟2025-2026学年高一下学期5月阶段检测英语试题)One evening in California, while helping my daughter, Julianna, prepare for a yard sale, I stepped carelessly between the wooden boards and felt the floor give way beneath me. I had grown used to that sinking feeling ever since losing my wife, Amy, to cancer in 2024-the sight of an old cup could suddenly make my world fall apart. But this time, I was falling for real. Julianna shouted, “Daddy, get out now!” After a hard struggle, I finally pulled myself out. As I walked downstairs, I thought about how differently Amy would have dealt with things. She had always been the family’s guide — calm and dependable — while I was careless and always depended on her to keep my life in order. After she was gone, I tried to become a focused solo parent, yet I kept making mistakes. I forgot rubbish night until it attracted huge wild animals; I burned carrots until smoke filled the kitchen; I even let our WiFi get disconnected, and Julianna asked, “You’re pretty bad at this, aren’t you?” Her words made me think. That was when I began to understand that bravery — the kind Amy had always shown — was not about avoiding mistakes, but about facing them when it mattered most. The morning after I fell, I discovered that someone had covered Julianna’s yard sale signs with red tape (胶带). Without thinking twice, I walked down the street and caught a young man who told me he did it for “friendly competition”, but this time I stood my ground. To my surprise, people nearby gathered and spoke ill of him. When I told Julianna what happened, she laughed and said, “Now you’re getting embarrassing.” But I didn’t mind. For the first time, I understood that bravery did not belong only to my wife — It had been inside me all along. This has been the hardest year of my life, but I am learning that laughter is how we tell ourselves we might get through this together. 24.Which word can best describe the father’s life after his wife’s death? A.Peaceful. B.Lonely. C.Organized. D.Struggling. 25.What does the father learn from his wife? A.Avoiding making any mistakes in daily life. B.Braving challenges when they appear. C.Depending on others when raising children. D.Keeping life orderly as his wife did. 26.How did the father deal with the man who damaged his daughter’s signs? A.By removing the red tape by himself. B.By asking neighbors for help. C.By taking a clear stand against the man. D.By debating heatedly with the man. 27.What message does the story mainly convey? A.Every cloud has a silver lining. B.Practice makes perfect. C.Difficulties make a man wise. D.Actions speak louder than words. C (江苏省天一中学2024-2025学年高一上学期期末考试英语试题)A roomful of hundreds of blooming orchids (盛开的兰花) is always a breathtaking sight. But Smithsonian Gardens has gone even further with its 28th annual orchid show held in the Kogod Courtyard. For the first time, Smithsonian Gardens used art to enrich the showy natural display, selecting the work of Baltimore-based artist Phaan Howng. Howng hopes her art inspires audiences to take action to support the protection of orchid species. Accompanying around 350 live orchids, Howng’s original artwork features brightly colored flowerpots, hand-painted tree wraps, and three-dimensional sculptures (雕塑作品) of a select group of orchids. To construct the sculptures, she used 3D prints of plants in the Smithsonian Gardens Orchid Collection and then mounted them onto a steel base. They were then revised and finished with various artificial (人造的) materials. The orchid plants can spend only a short time outside their ideal growing conditions: 60 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit with 65 to 80 percent humidity (湿度). Those conditions are maintained year-round at the Smithsonian’s 16,000-square-foot greenhouse. Justin Kondrat, lead horticulturist (园艺家) for the Smithsonian Gardens Orchard Collection, says the 28,000-square-foot Kogod Courtyard is an acceptable environment for the short term. Smithsonian Gardens employees regularly maintain humidity and provide nutrients during the exhibition. The annual show educates visitors about orchids’ precarious situation in some areas of the world. The number of orchids has significantly declined due to illegal harvesting in some regions, and many species are now threatened by changes in climate and habitat. Orchards are found around the globe everywhere except in Antarctica, says Kondrat. The largest diversity is in the tropics (热带地区), though they are under the most threat there due to disappearing habitats. Horticulturists periodically enhance the collection. Smithsonian Gardens aims to use appropriate collection techniques and safeguard the orchids for future generations and for scientific research and use, Kondrat says. Every orchid “is a living collection item,” Kondrat notes, adding that it is given “the same level of care and attention to detail as any of the photos hanging in the National Portrait Gallery.” 28.What can be learned about Smithsonian Gardens’ 28th orchid show? A.It focuses on orchids’ symbolic significance. B.It has long been known for its artistic element. C.It promotes technology use in art. D.It displays both real and artificial flowers. 29.Which aspect of orchids does paragraph 3 mainly focus on? A.Their biological effects. B.Their environmental sensitivity. C.Their soil conditions. D.Their healthy growth. 30.What is the underlined word “precarious” in paragraph 4 closest in meaning to? A.Unlikely. B.Ideal. C.Dangerous. D.Different 31.What does Justin Kondrat want to show by mentioning the National Portrait Gallery? A.High-standard care for displayed orchids. B.Its cooperation with Smithsonian Gardens. C.Its contribution to the orchid exhibition. D.Effective techniques for collecting orchids. D Today, poetry and science are often considered to be mutually exclusive career paths. But that wasn’t always the case. The mathematician Ada Lovelace and the physicist James Clerk Maxwell were both accomplished poets. The poet John Keats was a licensed surgeon. Combining the two practices fell out of favor in the 1800s. But translating research into poetic forms is resurging (新兴起/再度流行) among scientists as they look for novel methods to inspire others with their findings. “Poetry is a great tool for questioning the world,” says Sam Illingworth, a poet and a geoscientist who works at the University of Western Australia. Having set up several poetry workshops and a new science-poetry journal, called Consilience, Illingworth is helping scientists to translate their latest results into poems that can attract appreciation from those outside of their immediate scientific field. Stephany Mazon, a scientist from the University of Helsinki in Finland, joined one of Illingworth’s workshops. In the workshop, she was grouped with other scientists and tasked with writing a haiku, a 17-syllable-long poem, which spotlighted water, a fluid that featured in all of the group members’ research projects. “It was a lot of fun, and surprisingly easy to write the poem,” Mazon says. She plans to continue writing. “We do a disservice (损害) to ourselves to think that scientists can’t be artistic and that art can’t be used to communicate scientific ideas,” Mazon says. That viewpoint is echoed by Illingworth, who thinks science communication initiatives are too often dominated (主导) by public lectures that rely on PowerPoint slides which lack practical experience. “Actually, when science communication involves writing and sharing poems, it invites a two-way dialogue between experts and nonexperts,” he says. Scientist-poet Manjula Silva, an educator at Imperial College London, agrees. Poetry provides a way to translate complex scientific concepts into a language that everyone can understand, Silva says. Scientists and poets are both trying to understand the world and communicate that understanding with others. The divide between scientists and poets is less than people might think. We’re all just people with — hopefully — really interesting things to say and to share. 32.What is the purpose of mentioning the great figures in Paragraph 1? A.To display their diverse talents. B.To confirm they are out of favor. C.To introduce two scientific practices. D.To show past unity of poetry and science. 33.What are Illingworth’s workshops aimed to do? A.Create a new science-poetry journal. B.Publish the latest scientific findings. C.Promote science exchange through poems. D.Encourage outsiders to enter the scientific field. 34.What does Illingworth think of the mainstream ways of science communication? A.Two-sided. B.Accessible. C.Innovative. D.Hands-off. 35.Which of the following is the best title for the text? A.Scientists Take on Poetry. B.Science: A Two-way Dialogue. C.Scientists and Poets Think Alike. D.Poetry: A Great Communication Tool. Humans have evolved to spend long periods doing physical exercise. 36 The complexity of the human brain is to blame. Evolving an ability doesn’t automatically mean we’ll want to use it. While physical exercise isn’t that bad, it’s still typically unpleasant. 37 It calculates the effort required for actions and tends to stop us from misusing vital resources on fruitless efforts, like walking over 30 km for a handful of berries. The thing is, regular exercise to get “in shape” needs constant and considerable effort. 38 So, your brain has a tendency to ask this question, “Is it worth it?” This particular feature also means we typically prefer things which offer minimum effort for maximum reward. Thankfully, the human brain is a complex organ. It isn’t ruled by its more primitive drives. While many species’ thought processes are limited to “Food, eat it!”, “Danger, run!”, “Pain, avoid!”, we’ve evolved beyond that. 39 We can imagine a desirable future scenario (情况), figure out how we’d achieve it, and do just that. Or at least work toward it. This directly impacts how our brain processes motivation and willpower. We can recognize that rejecting a reward now can lead to a greater reward later, and act accordingly. As far as your brain is concerned, there are processes that discourage exercise, and processes that encourage it. 40 A.So how does the brain process motivation? B.But why doesn’t everyone enjoy exercising? C.Our brains can form long-term goals and ambitions. D.It is for gradual progress and uncertain rewards. E.The human brain is highly sensitive to wasted effort. F.Most people have the habit of doing physical exercise. G.Ideally, you’ll end up putting more weight on the latter than the former. My childhood was mostly silent. It was full of love, laughter, anger and sadness like any family, but these things occurred. The knowledge instilled (灌输) in me was 41 by watching my mother as she moved through her 42 world. I loved to watch her hands, which were always 43 me things by showing me how, as she watered, weeded and dug her garden. The hands were rough with cuts and 44 , but filled with wisdom. Sometimes, those same hands spoke to me literally. Basic 45 language started in the family quite suddenly but then 46 just as quickly. My mother 47 that lip-reading was quicker. She would look at me intently and 48 words such as, “watch this” or “this is how”, or “never touch this plant”. We often went for hours like this, 49 a word spoken and yet we were talking in various ways the whole time. As I grew up, I began to understand why my mother spent so much time in her garden. Her deafness had come during an era of little tolerance for diversity, and much 50 of disability. 51 the world outside was demanding and unforgiving, her garden was full of kindness and 52 . For her it was the only place 53 her control. My mother’s knowledge is deeply 54 inside me. I now have 55 hands, with cuts and scars, and cherish their roughness. With any luck, my kids will have them one day, too. 41.A.put together B.brought up C.passed down D.made up 42.A.beautiful B.sweet C.graceful D.silent 43.A.serving B.awarding C.curing D.teaching 44.A.spots B.lines C.marks D.scars 45.A.pose B.sign C.symbol D.wave 46.A.failed B.replaced C.stopped D.spread 47.A.insisted B.regretted C.predicted D.suspected 48.A.mouth B.eye C.nose D.finger 49.A.completely B.simply C.hardly D.nearly 50.A.recognition B.confusion C.appreciation D.rejection 51.A.If B.When C.Although D.As 52.A.acceptance B.concern C.pride D.guidance 53.A.beyond B.with C.of D.under 54.A.involved B.buried C.applied D.acquired 55.A.gardening B.strong C.muscular D.skillful As a traditional Chinese musical instrument, the guzheng has beautiful sounds and gains great 56 (popular) at home and abroad. He never wasted anything in his shop. He would bring me various cookies once or twice a week. They were the cookies he couldn’t sell because they were broken. It wasn’t until I started kindergarten that I learned that cookies were supposed to be round and whole, not broken into little squares or triangles. After I made this troubling discovery, I asked Grandpa why he gave me broken cookies. He said, “Grandson, you’re sure to meet a lot of broken things in your life, such as broken promises, broken hearts and so on. But here’s the thing: something is only broken if you choose to see it that way.” I tried to remember Grandpa’s words. But as the years passed, his advice faded away (逐渐消失), waiting to speak to me at just the right moment. And that moment arrived many years later. My wife and I decided to move into a new house. It was December, and, against the advice of my wife, I had decided we would move everything ourselves. After a busy day, our new house was full. Suddenly my wife said, “Tomorrow is Christmas. We forgot to get a Christmas tree.” So, we set out, on Christmas Eve, to find a Christmas tree. Of course there weren’t any. But at our last stop at a local shop, a salesperson directed us to the dumpster(垃圾大铁桶) out back, which was full of Christmas leftovers, suggesting that we might find one there. We made our way to the dumpster, and my wife, ever the adventurous type, climbed up the side. Then she said excitedly, “There’s a living Christmas tree in here — upside down!” ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ In our moment of disappointment, I suddenly remembered Grandpa’s words. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ( 1 ) 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2026-2027学年高一选择性必修第一册英语单元自测 Unit 4 Exploring poetry·能力提升 (时间:120分钟,满分:150分) 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 1.B 2.B 3.A 4.C 5.C 6.A 7.B 8.B 9.C 10.A 11.B 12.C 13.A 14.C 15.A 16.C 17.A 18.B 19.A 20.C 第二部分 阅读 (共两节,满分50分) 第一节 21.B 22.D 23.A 24.D 25.B 26.C 27.C 28.D 29.B 30.C 31.A 32.D 33.C 34.D 35.A 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 36.B 37.E 38.D 39.C 40.G 第三部分 语言知识运用 (共两节,满分30分) 第1节 (共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 41.C 42.D 43.D 44.D 45.B 46.C 47.A 48.A 49.C 50.D 51.C 52.A 53.D 54.B 55.A 第二节 (共10小题;每小题1.5分,满分15分) 56.popularity 57.a 58.was invented 59.as 60.which 61.applied 62.pressing 63.sounds 64.has played 65.truly 第四部分 写作(共两节,满分40分) 第一节 【参考范文】 Dear fellows, Nowadays, many students are addicted to mobile phones. Excessive screen time not only reduces our study efficiency, but also harms eyesight and disturbs regular rest, doing great harm to our physical and mental health. Here are practical suggestions, which are beneficial to you. First, use phones merely to look up learning materials after class. Second, set a fixed daily time limit for phones and put them away during classes. Let us make joint efforts to keep away from mindless phone surfing and focus more on study and outdoor activities. Then she said excitedly, “There’s a living Christmas tree in here — upside down!” I quickly joined my wife and peered into the dumpster. “Yes, It’s a living Christmas tree. Let’s get it out.” With herculean effort, My wife and I pulled the tree out of the dumpster. It catapulted over the edge and spilled onto the pavement. “It’s broken,” I quietly pronounced. “The upper half of the tree was missing, which was undoubtedly why it had been discarded.” We stood silently, our momentary glee dashed by what lay before us. In our moment of disappointment, I suddenly remembered Grandpa’s words. I shared Grandpa’s wisdom with my wife — something is only broken if you choose to see it that way. Those words gave us new hope, and we decided to bring the broken Christmas tree home. Back home, my wife and I patched the tree together with lights and ornaments. We placed it in the corner, half or not, it stood proud and bright. Thanks to Grandpa, we were inspired to see beyond the obvious — perfection isn’t in the shape, but in how you choose to see it. C.Green. 20.What will the zoo open next month? A.A night animal show. B.A Bronx Zoo-themed show. C.An Australian animal show. 【答案】18.B 19.A 20.C 【原文】M: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the city zoo’s newest show, World of Darkness. Here is a new world of night animals to you. Not too many years ago, zoo visitors were unable to watch the behavior of night animals because these animals were active during the night and generally slept during the day when the zoo was open to visitors. But in the 1960s, zookeepers at the Bronx Zoo in New York City found a way to settle this problem and develop the system that we now use in our show. The animals’ living places are lit with white light at night. Then the animals think the white light is daylight, so of course, they go to sleep. During the day, their living places are lit with red light, which makes the animals think it is at night, so that they will be active. On the other hand, the red light enables visitors to watch these animals going about the normal activities at night. So just enjoy your visit to the World of Darkness and enjoy watching these amazing animals of the night. And remember, next month is the opening of World Down Under, a new show of Australian animals. Are you looking forward to learning about Australian animals in person? Well, you are lucky, just please come and join us for that event. As the spring approaches, there’s no better time to reset your body, mind, and spirit. B.By asking neighbors for help. C.By taking a clear stand against the man. D.By debating heatedly with the man. 27.What message does the story mainly convey? A.Every cloud has a silver lining. B.Practice makes perfect. C.Difficulties make a man wise. D.Actions speak louder than words. 根据第二段“After she was gone, I tried to become a focused solo parent, yet I kept making mistakes. I forgot rubbish night until it attracted huge wild animals; I burned carrots until smoke filled the kitchen; I even let our WiFi get disconnected, and Julianna asked, “You’re pretty bad at this, aren’t you?” (她离开后,我努力想做一名用心尽责的单亲家长,可状况不断、屡屡出错。我总忘了夜间扔垃圾,结果引来了大批野生动物;煮胡萝卜时把菜烧糊,厨房里浓烟弥漫;就连家里的无线网络都被我弄断了。朱莉安娜见状问道:“你实在不太擅长打理这些事,对吧?”)”可知,妻子去世后父亲的生活充满错误和困难,处于挣扎状态。 25.细节理解题。根据第三段“That was when I began to understand that bravery — the kind Amy had always shown — was not about avoiding mistakes, but about facing them when it mattered most. 根据第二段“Accompanying around 350 live orchids, Howng’s original artwork features brightly colored flowerpots, hand-painted tree wraps, and three-dimensional sculptures (雕塑作品) of a select group of orchids. 【答案】32.D 33.C 34.D 35.A 【导语】本文主要介绍了诗歌与科学在历史上曾紧密相连,如今科学家们正通过诗歌创作来传播科学知识,促进专家与非专家之间的双向对话。 32.推理判断题。根据第一段中的“Today, poetry and science are often considered to be mutually exclusive career paths. But that wasn’t always the case. The mathematician Ada Lovelace and the physicist James Clerk Maxwell were both accomplished poets. The poet John Keats was a licensed surgeon.(今天,诗歌和科学通常被认为是互斥的职业道路。但情况并非总是如此。数学家Ada Lovelace和物理学家James Clerk Maxwell都是颇有造诣的诗人。诗人John Keats是一名持证外科医生。)”可知,作者提到这些历史人物是为了说明诗歌与科学在过去是紧密联系、相互融合的,与如今被视为互斥的情况形成对比。 33.细节理解题。根据第二段中的“Having set up several poetry workshops and a new science-poetry journal, called Consilience, Illingworth is helping scientists to translate their latest results into poems that can attract appreciation from those outside of their immediate scientific field.(Illingworth创办了多个诗歌工作坊和一本名为Consilience的新科学诗歌期刊,正在帮助科学家将他们的最新研究成果转化为诗歌,以吸引其科学领域之外的人的欣赏。)”可知,Illingworth的工作坊旨在通过诗歌促进科学交流。 34.推理判断题。根据第四段中的“who thinks science communication initiatives are too often dominated by public lectures that rely on PowerPoint slides which lack practical experience.(他认为科学传播活动往往被依赖PowerPoint幻灯片的公开讲座所主导,而这类公开讲座缺乏实践经验。)” Humans have evolved to spend long periods doing physical exercise. Here are practical suggestions, which are beneficial to you. First, use phones merely to look up learning materials after class. Students’ Union 第二节(满分25分) 67.阅读下面材料:根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 My grandpa was a master baker in Newton, Kansas. 注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Then she said excitedly, “There’s a living Christmas tree in here — upside down!” ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ In our moment of disappointment, I suddenly remembered Grandpa’s words. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【范文】 Then she said excitedly, “There’s a living Christmas tree in here — upside down!” I quickly joined my wife and peered into the dumpster. 试卷第1页,共3页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $………………○………………外………………○………………装………………○………………订………………○………………线………………○……………… ………………○………………内………………○………………装………………○………………订………………○………………线………………○……………… 此卷只装订不密封 ………………○………………内………………○………………装………………○………………订………………○………………线………………○……………… ………………○………………外………………○………………装………………○………………订………………○………………线………………○……………… … 学校:______________姓名:_____________班级:_______________考号:______________________ 2026-2027学年高一选择性必修第一册英语单元自测 Unit 4 Exploring poetry·能力提升 学校:___________班级:___________姓名:___________分数:___________ (时间:120分钟,满分:150分) 注意事项: 1. 1.What is the total number of students in the school now? 第二节(共5小题:每小题2. 5分, 满分12. 5分) 阅读下面短文, 从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Humans have evolved to spend long periods doing physical exercise. 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15小题:每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文, 从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 My childhood was mostly silent. 注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Then she said excitedly, “There’s a living Christmas tree in here — upside down!” ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ In our moment of disappointment, I suddenly remembered Grandpa’s words. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 试题 第3页(共12页) 试题 第4页(共12页) 试题 第1页(共12页) 试题 第2页(共12页) 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $听力考试正式开始。Last year, there were four hundred students of the school, now there are seven hundred. so there are three hundred more this year, a big increase. Ladies and gentle man welcomed to the city's oos newest show, world of darkness. Here is a new world of night animals to you. Not too many years ago, the zoo visitors were unable to watch the behavior of night animals because these animals were during the night and generally slept during the day when the zoo was open to visitors. But in the eighteen sixties, zoo keepers at the bronx zoo in new york city found a way to settle this problem and developed the system that we now use in our show. The animals living places are lit with White light at night. Then the animals think the White light is daylight, so of course they go to sleep during the day. Their living places are lit with red light, which makes the animals think IT is at night, so that they will be active. On the other hand, the red light enables visitors to watch these animals going about the Normal activities at night. So just enjoy your visit to the world of darkness. I enjoy watching these amazing animals of the night. And remember, next month is the opening of world down under a new show of australian animals.
