Ask the students to look at the picture and try to answer the questions. What’s in the picture？ what does Peter think is the most useful invention of all time？ 2). Play the tape and ask them to check the answers and answer the question : When was it invented ? 3). Help them to check the answers. Step 2. Reading 1).Ask them to read 3a and answer the questions . Who was the inventor ? _____________________________________________ How did it change the world ? _____________________________________________ 2). Ask them to discuss their answers. 3). Ask the students to show their answers . Step 3.Reading aloud. 1). Play the tape and ask them to read after the tape , at the same time ,ask them to pay attention to how the key information is stressed. 2). Read the dialogue by themselves. 3). Ask some students to try to act it out. Step 4.Grammar 1) Ask them to try to find out the passive-voice sentences. 2) Ask them to pay attention to two comparative -degree sentences . And ask the students why Peter uses these two comparative -degree sentences. Step5.
