With his mum’s support, Ted decided to introduce it to his eight ___8___ schoolmates. In School Science Festival, Ted even received a prize from the school ___9___ his creativity and intelligence.
Perhaps not everyone can be an inventor. However, it is always ____10____ to find out what you are really interested in and keep going like Ted.

固定搭配have a strong wish to do sth. to talk back不定式结构符合语法,但“顶嘴”和后文探究事物的语境完全不符;talk back/know about均不符合have a wish to do的固定语法要求,直接排除。
that was it hard语序混乱,不符合宾语从句陈述语序的规则;what was it hard一方面是疑问语序不符合从句要求,另一方面引导词what语义冗余,从句不缺特殊疑问含义;what it was hard引导词what使用错误,从句结构完整不需要特殊疑问词充当成分,语义不通。
new something/old something形容词位置错误,不符合英语不定代词的修饰规则;something old“旧的东西”和后文新增定时器、改良装置的语境完全相悖。
固定搭配receive a prize for...

Several weeks ago, my family visited my parents in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Before that, my kids were asking where it is and how long it would take to get there. I then took out an old map from a box. The kids had never seen Ontario on a paper map before. They kept asking me about the towns, parks and other places there.
The experience made me realize that it is necessary to teach kids to read paper maps. Nowadays, online maps and GPS are easy to use, but paper maps are still important. It’s up to us to pass on the skill to our children. When kids learn how to use paper maps, they are doing more than just learning how to.
Paper maps can help kids understand road signs. But what’s more important is that paper maps show kids there’s a much bigger world out there. They have the magic power to put ideas into kids’ heads. I remember as a child, I spent a lot of time looking at foreign countries on paper maps. This made me become curious about those places. I wanted to know more about them. Now I’ve travelled to many of the countries I studied on the paper maps as a child.
Also, paper maps are good for emergencies It’s always good to be prepared with skills that can get us out of a strange place without using a phone.
29. How did the writer’s kids feel about the paper map?
A. They found it was beautiful. B. They thought it was strange.
C. They showed great interest in it. D. They thought it was very old.
30. The underlined word “curious” in the passage means “_______”.
A. worried B. interested C. relaxed D. scared
31. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. Teaching kids to read paper maps is important.
B. Online maps help kids with road signs and emergencies.
C. Online maps and GPS are more convenient than paper maps.
D. The writer traveled to places on his childhood paper maps.
C 30. B 31. A

C
I’m Lisa. When it comes to rules, I don’t have too many at home. My parents trust me a lot. They know I won’t do anything crazy. But that doesn’t mean I’m completely free to do whatever I want.
Most of the rules that I have are about driving. When I got my driver’s license, my parents made some rules to keep me safe. I was required to tell them where I was going, who I was with and when I’d be home. Another rule was making sure I had only one passenger in the car.
In my opinion, there is no need to set too many rules for teenagers. This only results in more disagreements in the parent-child relationship. Over the years, I’ve noticed that my friends with stricter parents are more likely to have a terrible relationship.
I’m lucky to have parents who not only trust me but also care about my safety. They don’t smother (使窒息) me with rules, but talk to me about the things I should and shouldn’t do. That way, I know how to stay out of trouble and make good choices.
But I’m not saying that a lack (缺乏) of rules for teens works for everyone. Being free doesn’t mean you can do anything without thinking about the results. But don’t smother your kids with family rules and results. Talking through the results of their actions has a better chance of keeping your kids out of trouble.
So, though I don’t have lots of rules, I still know what’s right and wrong. And that’s what’s important.
32. Lisa’s parents don’t set too many rules for her because _________ .
A. they don’t want to control her B. they believe she is a good girl
C. they want her to live a free life D. they are busy raising other children
33. According to Lisa, parents can help their kids avoid getting into trouble by _________ .
A. making stricter family rules B. giving their kids more freedom
C. telling them the results of their actions D. letting their kids make their own decisions
34. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
A. Lisa has no family rules at all because her parents fully trust her.
B. Lisa believes a lack of family rules is suitable (合适的) for every teenager.
C. One of Lisa’s driving rules is that she can only take one passenger in the car.
D. Lisa thinks stricter family rules always help improve parent-child relationships.
35. What’s the writer’s attitude (态度) towards family rules?
A. Less is more. B. The more, the better.
C. Each family has its own rules. D. No family rules are the best rule.
B 33. C 34. C 35. A
根据第一段“My parents trust me a lot. They know I won’t do anything crazy.”
根据第五段“Talking through the results of their actions has a better chance of keeping your kids out of trouble.”
A项错误,第二段提到Lisa有驾驶相关的规则;B项错误,第五段提到缺乏规则并不适合所有青少年;D项错误,第三段提到规则太严可能导致更糟的亲子关系;C项正确,根据第二段“Another rule was making sure I had only one passenger in the car.”

A. worried B. interested C. relaxed D. scared

A. Teaching kids to read paper maps is important.
B. Online maps help kids with road signs and emergencies.
C. Online maps and GPS are more convenient than paper maps.
D. The writer traveled to places on his childhood paper maps.
C

C. Each family has its own rules. D. No family rules are the best rule.
