1.(2026年高考英语I卷改编) Daji originated from the folk custom of trading goods, which _____________ (can trace) back to the Han Dynasty.
故填can be traced。
can be traced
The truth, though, is what ___________________ (could guess) — there’s never anyone else here. Just me, Nick, and the quiet forest.
故填could be guessed。
could be guessed
What _______________ (should do) with such a beautiful place? They wondered out loud.
短语do ... with ...,意为“对付、处理”,do和with都得带自己的宾语。 故填should be done。
should be done
4. (2023年全国高考英语乙卷改编)The remarkable development of this city, which is consciously designed to protect the past while stepping into the modern world, means there is always something new to discover here, and I _______________________ (could photograph) Beijing for the next 50 years.
故填could be photographing。
could be photographing
It used to be that you __________________ (drive) for miles here without seeing another person, but now there are houses and people everywhere.
I honestly don’t think I’m going to be admitted.—Well, you never know! You ________________ (make) a better impression than you think.

However, though it’s nice to get a few cents off a pack of sausages, it would help even more if they ________________ (could offer) sometimes in smaller packs.
故填 could be offered。
could be offered

As artist and anthropologist Desmond Morris put it, “It is as if the human species _____ (be) incapable of being artless regardless of material circumstances.”
故填were。
were
I finally gathered my courage. “Dan,” I stammered out, “If I had the choice, I ___________________ (choose) you.”

would have chosen

(should) show

5. When I was in high school, I ________ get up at 6:00 every morning and read English aloud for half an hour.
6. All participants in the competition ________ submit their works before December 1st.
现代英语中,must或are to更口语化。
7. If the weather is this hot tomorrow, we ________ as well give up the idea of playing tennis in the afternoon.
may/might as well是固定搭配。may / might as well + 动词原形表示“不妨;还不如”,用于建议或无奈接受某种选择。 may as well稍正式,语气更中性。might as well更口语化,隐含更多“无奈”或“勉强”。
8. We ________ have checked the weather forecast before hiking.
9. He arrived late for the meeting. He ________ have been caught in a traffic jam.
He arrived late for the meeting.是推测的依据,需用must have been caught 连接因果。
10. She ________ not come to the office tomorrow; she can work from home.
后半句she can work from home提供了“无需担心”的理由,与 need not的逻辑完美契合。
1. “How I wish I ________ (go) to the concert tonight, but I have to babysit my little brother.
2. If I had learned to play the guitar when I was young, I ________ (join) the band.
3. Had the teacher not explained it again, the class ________ (stick) on that problem.
主句需用 would/could/might + have + 过去分词表假设结果。
4. One of the main requirements is that applicants ________ (have) at least two years of experience.
5. The painting was so vivid that it seemed as if the figures in it ________ (come) to life; never before had I seen such a masterpiece.
6. The regulations require that all passengers ________ (check) before boarding.
7. Only after failing the exam did she admit that she ________ (follow) her teacher’s advice.
Only after failing the exam 反思的内容(follow her teacher’s advice)发生在考试不及格前,属于过去的时间,需用完成时should have followed。
8. He talks about the world as if he ________ (travel) everywhere, but he’s never left his hometown.
9. If only she ________ (choose) to study medicine instead of law — she might have saved more lives.
10. But for the central bank’s intervention, the financial crisis ________ (wipe) out millions of savings.
If it had not been for或 Without,表示“如果没有某事物,结果会不同”。
This summer’s heatwaves might have seemed ordinary, but the records we see must be a warning. Without action, such temperatures 1 soon become normal, turning cities into “baking pans”. Thermometers should not be rising so fast, yet they are, threatening the elderly. We cannot pretend we are innocent.
The primary driver of this crisis 2 be our relentless consumption of fossil fuels. Burning coal and gas releases vast amounts of greenhouse gases, trapping heat like a thick blanket over our planet. The world cannot afford to ignore this reality any longer. Without immediate intervention, the polar ice caps 3 melt faster than scientists had predicted, leading to catastrophic flooding in coastal cities. Governments 4 prioritize renewable energy, yet many still hesitate, as if they 5 (be) unaware of the urgency. To make matters worse, deforestation continues at an alarming rate, and without forests, we 6 lose our planet’s natural cooling system. Every citizen should adopt a low-carbon lifestyle, because every small action counts.
The effects of this crisis 7 be more severe than we imagine. If we fail to reduce carbon emissions today, our children might not have a chance to see polar bears in the wild. But for the collective efforts of environmental activists, public awareness 8 (remain) low. If only world leaders had taken stronger action a decade ago, we might not be facing such extreme weather now. However, it is not too late to make a difference. We must act now, for there is no Planet B. 9 we continue on this path of destruction, future generations would never forgive us. It is high time that we 10 (take) responsibility for our planet and built a sustainable future together. We must remember that the earth does not belong to us; we belong to the earth.
1. would
2. must
3. might
4. should / ought to
5. were
6. would
7. could
8. would have remained
9. Should
10. took
Without action 等于 If we don’t act now,是对将来情况的假设,主句用 would + 动词原形表示“将会(必然趋势)”。
should / ought to 均表示“按理应当”,语气弱于 must(强制),强于 could(建议)。
5. were 考查as if 引导的表语从句,对现在虚拟(be动词一律用 were)。 as if 后接 were,表示与现在事实相反的假设。不论主语是 they 还是 he,be 动词都用 were。
7. could 考查could 表可能性推测(比 may 委婉,比 might 稍肯定)。
8. would have remained 考查含蓄虚拟语气(but for + 名词,对过去虚拟)。 but for 等于 If it had not been for,主句用 would have done 表示“过去本会发生但实际未发生”。
Should we continue = If we should continue,表示对将来的“万一”假设,语气正式且具有警告色彩。
10. took 考查It is high time that + 过去时(固定虚拟结构)。 It is high time that 后必须用一般过去时(took),表示“早该做了,现在该做了”,不用 should take(不可省 should)。

Oil Crisis: What If We Had Prepared Earlier?
The global oil market is trembling. Prices are rising, supply is shrinking, and panic is spreading. But what if we 1 (see) this coming a decade ago? If major economies 2 (invest) heavily in renewable energy back then, they would not be begging for oil today. If every nation had reduced its dependence on fossil fuels, the current crisis might have been avoided entirely. Yet here we are, as if we 3 (learn) nothing from the 1970s oil shocks.
Without Russian oil, Europe 4 (freeze) last winter. Without OPEC’s production cuts, gas prices would not have hit record highs. But for the war in Ukraine, energy supplies 5 (remain) stable. Had Middle Eastern countries maintained their output, inflation would not have spiraled out of control. If only Western leaders had acted sooner, they would have built enough reserves to survive the storm. Instead, they are now negotiating desperately, as if they 6 (unprepare) completely.
What if we treated this crisis as a final warning? If every country 7 (shift) to solar and wind power within the next five years, oil dependence would gradually fade. Should the world unite around clean energy, future generations would never suffer from oil wars. Without this crisis, we 8 (continue) our wasteful habits forever. But now, we must act. It is high time that we 9 (transform) our energy systems. Without immediate action, our children would inherit a planet choked by conflict and carbon. We had better remember that oil will not last forever. 10 we ignore this truth, history would never forgive us. If only we had started this transition twenty years ago — but perhaps it is not too late to begin today.

3. had learned
4. would have frozen

3. had learned 考查as if 引导的虚拟语气(对过去)。
4. would have frozen 考查含蓄虚拟语气(without + 名词,对过去假设)。 Without Russian oil = If there had been no Russian oil,对过去虚拟,主句用 would have done。
