As the youngest gold award winner this year, Huang received a reward of 100,000 yuan (US$14,155). During a forum where the award was announced, Huang delivered a speech to 300 international artists and educators, sharing that her winning painting, “Xiaoyaoyou,” was inspired by her reflections on ancient Chinese philosopher Zhuang Zi, as well as her thoughts on existence, life and spiritual ideals.

Straight or arched, thick or thin—eyebrows (眉毛) come in many shapes and sizes. But what are eyebrows even for? They don’t keep us warm like our hair, or help us breathe like our noses. So why do we have them? 56
Early humans had large brow ridges (眉骨). 57 Later, as the human face became smaller and flatter, our eyebrows helped us to express different feelings, as well as better understand others’ feelings. For example, a quick flash of the eyebrows... This is a sign that someone is willing to communicate with others, while pulling our eyebrows up in the middle is an expression of sympathy (同情). 58 just draw a simple face on a piece of paper and draw a line above the eyes. You can draw lines in different shapes and directions. You will find that it is very easy to show anger, fear or surprise on a face.
But this is not the only purpose of our eyebrows. 59 Their arched shape can help to move rain or sweat around to the sides of our faces, keeping our eyes dry. Together with our eyelashes (眼睫毛), eyebrows can also help to keep dust and other things out of our eyes.
60 In that case, some scientists believe that we would have developed some other facial feature to perform the same role. That could make us look quite different.
A.They can also protect our eyes.
B.What if we didn’t have eyebrows?
C.This helped them show their power.
D.If you still find this hard to understand,
E.Let’s take rolling one’s eyes as an example.
F.So far, no scientific research has found out the reason.
G.Scientists believe eyebrows helped us communicate better when we were still developing.

Li Bang, 33, is 2 AI scientist who works at Anyang Normal University. He and his team built a special online “library”. They put pictures of oracle bones and lots of ancient books into this library. Then they 3 (write) programs to help AI learn to study the shapes of characters and find information about 4 (they).
When people hope to deeply study an oracle bone character, it 5 (show) to the computer first so that AI can start its fast analysis. AI 6 (find) similar characters and books that are related to it in a few seconds. In the past, this common work took them a few hours 7 even a few days.
“AI is of great 8 (important) for people who study oracle bones, but it can’t take their place completely.” Li said. AI has a strong memory, but it isn’t good 9 thinking things through on its own. AI has helped a lot with searching for information about the characters. However, it hardly tells us what the ancient characters 10 (true) mean. So human thinking and understanding are always necessary.

Straight or arched, thick or thin—eyebrows (眉毛) come in many shapes and sizes. But what are eyebrows even for? They don’t keep us warm like our hair, or help us breathe like our noses. So why do we have them? 1
Early humans had large brow ridges (眉骨). 2 Later, as the human face became smaller and flatter, our eyebrows helped us to express different feelings, as well as better understand others’ feelings. For example, a quick flash of the eyebrows... This is a sign that someone is willing to communicate with others, while pulling our eyebrows up in the middle is an expression of sympathy (同情). 3 just draw a simple face on a piece of paper and draw a line above the eyes. You can draw lines in different shapes and directions. You will find that it is very easy to show anger, fear or surprise on a face.
But this is not the only purpose of our eyebrows. 4 Their arched shape can help to move rain or sweat around to the sides of our faces, keeping our eyes dry. Together with our eyelashes (眼睫毛), eyebrows can also help to keep dust and other things out of our eyes.
5 In that case, some scientists believe that we would have developed some other facial feature to perform the same role. That could make us look quite different.

G“Scientists believe eyebrows helped us communicate better when we were still developing.”(科学家认为,在我们仍在进化时,眉毛帮助我们更好地交流。)
C“This helped them show their power.”(这帮助他们显示力量。)
D“If you still find this hard to understand,”(如果你仍然觉得这很难理解,)引导读者通过动手实验来直观感受眉毛表达情绪的作用,与后文的实验说明形成自然的条件关系,承上启下。
A“They can also protect our eyes.”(它们还能保护眼睛。)
B“What if we didn’t have eyebrows?”(如果我们没有眉毛会怎样?)

固定搭配use sth. to do sth.表示“用某物做某事”,此处“using AI to research this ancient writing”意为“用AI研究这种古老文字”,因此用动词不定式to research。
“a few hours”与“even a few days”是选择关系,表示“几个小时或者甚至几天”,需用连词or连接。
固定搭配be of great importance表示“非常重要”,相当于be very important,需将形容词important变为名词形式importance。
固定搭配be good at doing sth.
