Chinese scripts(字体) are the seal, the official, the regular, the cursive and the running. Different styles stand for different thoughts and emotions. The brush, the ink stick, the paper and the ink slab are necessary tools. They are known as the “Four Treasures of the Study”. Nowadays, most people no longer use the ink stick or the ink slab. They just use ready-made liquid(液体的) ink. To write calligraphy, first of all, prepare the tools and lay out the paper. Next, hold the brush with the thumb(拇指), the index finger(食指) and the middle finger. Finally, immerse the brush in the ink and write on the paper. 13 It’s not easy to write calligraphy. We need a long time of hard training to write beautifully.
