A recent study from Stanford University reveals that the mere presence of a smartphone — even when turned off and face down — reduces a person’s cognitive capacity. The researchers conducted experiments with nearly 800 participants. In one study, participants were asked to complete a series of tests requiring focused attention and problem-solving skills.
