Part 1
Many teenagers feel anxious when they cannot see eye to eye with their parents. They often argue with their parents over small things, and the tension at home grows. What they truly desire is to be understood, not blamed.
Parents, on the other hand, show concern for their children's future. With regular communication, the mental stress can be reduced. The youth should learn to express themselves, and volunteering together can also bring a family closer. It is a struggle worth making.

Part 3
1. anxious /ˈæŋkʃəs/ adj.
两大句型必须分清:be/feel anxious about sth.(为某事忧虑,about后接引起担忧之事)与be anxious for sth. / be anxious to do sth.(渴望得到;急切想做,此处译作"渴望的"而非"焦虑的")。名词anxiety n.(焦虑;渴望)→ with anxiety(焦急地)、relieve one's anxiety(缓解焦虑);副词anxiously adv.(焦急地)→ wait anxiously。辨析:anxious(含担忧成分的焦虑或急切)vs nervous(临场紧张,多为生理反应)vs worried(一般性担心)vs eager(纯粹的热切,无忧虑意味)。
联想:ang/anx"紧、窄"→ anger(愤怒→胸口发紧)、anguish(极度痛苦)、anxiety(焦虑)、angina(心绞痛)、anxious(焦虑的)。
熟义"焦虑的"→ 生义"渴望的",关键看介词与结构:be anxious about 表忧虑,be anxious for sth. / be anxious to do sth. She was anxious to please her parents(她急切地想让父母满意)。
感到焦虑 / be anxious for 渴望 / be anxious to do 急切想做 / anxiety n. 焦虑 / anxiously adv.
2. concern /kənˈsɜːn/ n.
名词:show/express concern for sb.(关心某人)、a matter of great concern(极受关注之事)、cause concern(引起担忧)。 有关"(as far as … is concerned 就… 两大被动结构须分清:be concerned about/for(担心;关心)与be concerned with(与… concerned adj.(担忧的;有关的,作后置定语时表"有关的",如the people concerned);concerning prep.(关于,= about/regarding)。辨析:concern(关切,含牵挂)vs care(照料;在乎)vs worry(忧虑,程度更重)vs mind(介意)。
联想:cern/cret/cri"分辨"→ discern(辨别)、secret(秘密→被分开藏起)、discriminate(区别对待)、critic(评论家→善分辨者)、concern(关切)。
熟义"关切"→ 生义"(商业)企业、公司",如a going concern(正常运营的企业)、a family concern(家族企业)。
(2024·新高考Ⅰ卷·语法填空·concern表"涉及")"The survey, which concerns the use of electronic devices among teenagers, was conducted last month."(这项涉及青少年电子设备使用的调查于上月开展。)
【搭配词块】 show concern for 关心 / be concerned about 担心 / be concerned with 涉及 / concerning prep. 关于 / as far as … is concerned 就…而言
3. argue /ˈɑːɡjuː/ vi./vt.
核心搭配argue with sb. about/over sth.(就某事与某人争论);argue for/against sth.(赞成/反对某事);argue that + 从句(主张;认为,作及物动词,此时不可译作"争吵");argue sb. into/out of doing sth.(说服某人做/不做某事)。名词argument n.(争论;论据;论点)→ have an argument with sb.、a convincing argument;arguable adj.(有争议的);arguably adv.(可以说,常用于句首,是写作亮点词)。辨析:argue(讲道理地争论,可有理有据)vs quarrel(情绪化地吵架)vs debate(正式辩论)vs discuss(心平气和地讨论)。
联想:argu"使清楚"→ argue(论证→把理说清)、argument(论据→说清的理由)、arguably(可论证地→可以说)。
The report argues that teenagers need more sleep(该报告主张青少年需要更多睡眠);His accent argued him a southerner(他的口音表明他是南方人)。

联想:sider"星"→ consider(考虑→与星辰同观,占星以定夺)、sidereal(恒星的)、desire(望星祈愿→渴望)。
(2024·新高考Ⅰ卷·阅读B·desire表"渴望")"Whether your decision is based on a desire for excitement or a rational analysis of the potential rewards."(你的决定是出于对刺激的追求还是对潜在回报的理性分析。)

Part 7
Lin Yu, a sixteen-year-old student in Nanjing, used to feel anxious every time her mother knocked on her bedroom door. Over the past year the two of them had begun to argue about almost everything — the hours she spent online and the strict rules about coming home before nine. Each quarrel left a fresh layer of tension in the small flat, and Lin Yu often shut herself in her room, believing that no adult could understand what the youth of today were feeling.
What she truly desired was not more freedom but a listener. Her parents, on the other hand, showed their concern in the only way they knew: more questions, more warnings and more rules. Neither side realised that the distance was doing real harm to the mental health of the whole family. The struggle continued until a school lecture on parent-child communication gave Lin Yu a completely new idea.
The speaker suggested that families set aside a regular time each week to talk without phones, without homework and without judgement. That Sunday evening Lin Yu invited her parents to sit down for half an hour. At first nobody knew how to begin, but once her father admitted that he too had argued with his own father at her age, the ice slowly broke. They agreed on three rules: everyone listens to the end, nobody raises his voice, and every complaint must come with a suggestion.
A month later the family took another step. They volunteered together at a community centre, helping elderly neighbours learn to use smartphones. Working side by side, Lin Yu discovered that her mother was patient and funny with strangers, and her mother discovered that her daughter was more responsible than she had imagined. The tension at home began to ease, and the anxious silence at the dinner table was replaced by ordinary, cheerful noise.
Lin Yu still does not agree with every rule her parents make, and she still has a strong desire for independence. Yet she no longer sees the generation gap as a wall. It is, she believes, a door that both sides must push at the same time.
1. Why did Lin Yu often shut herself in her bedroom?
A. Because her parents refused to let her use a smartphone at home.
B. Because she had failed several important examinations at school.
C. Because she believed no adult could understand the youth of today.
D. Because she needed absolute quiet to prepare for a school lecture.
2. What did the school lecture suggest that families should do?
A. Set aside a regular time each week to talk without phones or judgement.
B. Ask a professional teacher to settle every quarrel between parents and children.
C. Write down all the complaints and hand them in to the head teacher.
D. Allow teenagers to decide by themselves when to come home in the evening.
3. What happened when the family volunteered at the community centre?
A. Lin Yu decided to become a full-time volunteer after her graduation.
B. Her mother finally agreed to cancel all the rules made at home.
C. The elderly neighbours taught Lin Yu how to repair old smartphones.
D. Mother and daughter each discovered a new side of the other.
4. What is Lin Yu's attitude towards the generation gap now?
A. She is certain that the gap will disappear completely within a year.
B. She sees it as a door that both sides must push at the same time.
C. She thinks the gap is caused entirely by her parents' strict rules.
D. She has given up communicating and simply obeys whatever they say.
答案:1.C 2.A 3.D 4.B
Lin Yu often shut herself in her room, believing that no adult could understand what the youth of today were feeling, anxious与youth两个目标词共同点明她把自己关在房里的真实心理动因——认定没有成年人能理解当代年轻人的感受。
The speaker suggested that families set aside a regular time each week to talk without phones, without homework and without judgement直接给出讲座的核心建议,regular这一目标词提示"每周固定时间"这一关键信息,与选项A完全吻合。
Lin Yu discovered that her mother was patient and funny with strangers, and her mother discovered that her daughter was more responsible than she had imagined,两个discovered构成对称结构,说明双方各自发现了对方不为己知的一面,选项D是对这一对称句的准确概括。
第4题(观点态度题·高考压轴):末段用desire收束全文,指出她仍渴望独立,但态度已变:she no longer sees the generation gap as a wall. It is, she believes, a door that both sides must push at the same time。

Part 3
1. anxious /ˈæŋkʃəs/ adj.
两大句型必须分清:be/feel anxious about sth.(为某事忧虑,about后接引起担忧之事)与be anxious for sth. / be anxious to do sth.(渴望得到;急切想做,此处译作"渴望的"而非"焦虑的")。名词anxiety n.(焦虑;渴望)→ with anxiety(焦急地)、relieve one's anxiety(缓解焦虑);副词anxiously adv.(焦急地)→ wait anxiously。辨析:anxious(含担忧成分的焦虑或急切)vs nervous(临场紧张,多为生理反应)vs worried(一般性担心)vs eager(纯粹的热切,无忧虑意味)。
联想:ang/anx"紧、窄"→ anger(愤怒→胸口发紧)、anguish(极度痛苦)、anxiety(焦虑)、angina(心绞痛)、anxious(焦虑的)。
熟义"焦虑的"→ 生义"渴望的",关键看介词与结构:be anxious about 表忧虑,be anxious for sth. / be anxious to do sth. She was anxious to please her parents(她急切地想让父母满意)。
感到焦虑 / be anxious for 渴望 / be anxious to do 急切想做 / anxiety n. 焦虑 / anxiously adv.
2. concern /kənˈsɜːn/ n.
名词:show/express concern for sb.(关心某人)、a matter of great concern(极受关注之事)、cause concern(引起担忧)。 有关"(as far as … is concerned 就… 两大被动结构须分清:be concerned about/for(担心;关心)与be concerned with(与… concerned adj.(担忧的;有关的,作后置定语时表"有关的",如the people concerned);concerning prep.(关于,= about/regarding)。辨析:concern(关切,含牵挂)vs care(照料;在乎)vs worry(忧虑,程度更重)vs mind(介意)。
联想:cern/cret/cri"分辨"→ discern(辨别)、secret(秘密→被分开藏起)、discriminate(区别对待)、critic(评论家→善分辨者)、concern(关切)。
熟义"关切"→ 生义"(商业)企业、公司",如a going concern(正常运营的企业)、a family concern(家族企业)。
(2024·新高考Ⅰ卷·语法填空·concern表"涉及")"The survey, which concerns the use of electronic devices among teenagers, was conducted last month."(这项涉及青少年电子设备使用的调查于上月开展。)
【搭配词块】 show concern for 关心 / be concerned about 担心 / be concerned with 涉及 / concerning prep. 关于 / as far as … is concerned 就…而言
3. argue /ˈɑːɡjuː/ vi./vt.
核心搭配argue with sb. about/over sth.(就某事与某人争论);argue for/against sth.(赞成/反对某事);argue that + 从句(主张;认为,作及物动词,此时不可译作"争吵");argue sb. into/out of doing sth.(说服某人做/不做某事)。名词argument n.(争论;论据;论点)→ have an argument with sb.、a convincing argument;arguable adj.(有争议的);arguably adv.(可以说,常用于句首,是写作亮点词)。辨析:argue(讲道理地争论,可有理有据)vs quarrel(情绪化地吵架)vs debate(正式辩论)vs discuss(心平气和地讨论)。
联想:argu"使清楚"→ argue(论证→把理说清)、argument(论据→说清的理由)、arguably(可论证地→可以说)。
The report argues that teenagers need more sleep(该报告主张青少年需要更多睡眠);His accent argued him a southerner(他的口音表明他是南方人)。
(2022·新高考II卷·完形填空·argue表"争论")"They argued about the problem for a long time but didn't reach an agreement."(他们就这个问题争论了很久却未达成一致。)

4. desire /dɪˈzaɪə(r)/ n.
名词搭配:have a desire for sth.(渴望某物)、a strong/burning desire to do sth.(做某事的强烈愿望)、out of a desire for(出于对…的渴望)、meet one's desire(满足愿望)。动词desire to do sth.(渴望做某事)、desire sb. to do sth.(希望某人做某事),语体较正式;desire that从句须用虚拟语气(should + 动词原形,should可省)。desirable adj.(值得拥有的;令人向往的);desirous adj.(渴望的,be desirous of);undesirable adj.(不受欢迎的)。辨析:desire(正式而强烈的渴望)vs wish(愿望,常含难以实现之意)vs hope(有可能实现的希望)vs long for(长久盼望)。

5. struggle /ˈstrʌɡl/ n.

联想:str-常与"拉伸、绷紧、用力"相关→ strain(拉紧;压力)、stretch(伸展)、strive(奋斗)、strength(力量)、struggle(挣扎)。
熟义"挣扎、奋斗"→ 生义"费力地移动",后常接to one's feet / through / up等表方向的介词短语,如He struggled to his feet(他挣扎着站了起来)、struggle through the crowd(费力地挤过人群)。

联想:ment"心智"→ mention(提及→放在心上说出)、comment(评论→共同的心思)、remind(提醒→再放回心中)、mental(心智的)、mentality(心态)、demented(发狂的→心智离开)。

Three youths were waiting at the corner(三个小伙子在街角等着)。
(经典原句)"The youth should learn to express their feelings openly and honestly."(年轻人应学会开诚布公地表达感受。)
【搭配词块】 the youth 年轻人 / in one's youth 在年轻时 / youth n. 青年 / youthful adj. 年轻的 / the youth of today 当今的年轻人
10. volunteer /ˌvɒlənˈtɪə(r)/ n.
名词:a volunteer at the community centre(社区中心的志愿者)、call for volunteers(招募志愿者)、volunteer work/service(志愿工作/服务)。动词:volunteer to do sth.(自愿做某事)、volunteer for sth.(自愿参加)、volunteer as a guide(自愿担任向导)。voluntary adj.(自愿的;志愿的;无偿的)→ voluntary work、on a voluntary basis;voluntarily adv.(自愿地);volunteering n.(志愿服务活动)。辨析:volunteer(主动自愿去做,常指无偿服务)vs offer(提出给予或帮助)vs apply(正式申请,须经审核)vs participate(参与,不强调自愿性)。
联想:vol"意愿"→ voluntary(自愿的)、involuntary(非自愿的)、benevolent(仁慈的→善意的)、malevolent(恶意的)、volition(意志力)、volunteer(志愿者)。
She volunteered the information that she had seen him(她主动说出她见过他)、No one volunteered an answer(没人主动作答)。
(经典原句)"The whole family volunteered at the local community center last weekend."(上周末全家人都在社区中心做志愿。)
【搭配词块】 volunteer to do 自愿做 / volunteer for 自愿参加 / volunteer n. 志愿者 / voluntary adj. 自愿的 / voluntarily adv.
